Long time guide John Grosvenor shares his knowledge of West Lake Okoboji bluegill fishing and a few other species. John dials in on some tips to catch fish. John knows people want to catch fish when they come on the boat that’s why he targets bluegill in the spring. These bluegill start to become active in May after the ice goes out and the water starts to warm up.
John targets this sometimes finicky bluegill by never going over top of them and fishing them with casting bobbers. John touches on how clear the water is on West Lake and how they can easily be spooked with a boat going over top of them. Other fish mentioned in this show are crappie, perch, northern, muskie and yellow bass.
Okoboji will always be a place where I will go to experience the great outdoors.
