This week, I spoke with Chad Huber, a TikToker known for his viral series "Catfishing the Catfish." In this series, he turns the tables on romance scammers in a hilarious game of digital cat and mouse. Chad not only exposes scammers, but he also provides valuable insights into their deceptive practices, as well as education for the general public on how to protect themselves from scammers.
If you paid a romance scammer with a gift card, wire transfer, credit or debit card, or cryptocurrency, contact the company or your bank right away. Tell them you paid a scammer and ask them to refund your money. If you think it’s a scam, report it to the FTC at
ReportFraud.ftc.gov. Notify the social networking site or app where you met the scammer, too.
DON'T GIVE RANDOS MONEY, especially in this economy!
