Ready to go full libertarian on the train derailment?  Two weeks ago today, a Norfolk Southern train derailed in East Palestine, Ohio, leading to what some are calling "Chernobyl on the Ohio" (as in, the Ohio River).  The train was carrying roughly a million tons of vinyl chloride in five tankers. A decision was made to burn it, and East Palestine residents were forced to evacuate.  The media was not featuring this story (only mentioning it in passing when it happened). Then, a reporter was even arrested while trying to cover a press conference featuring Governor Mike DeWine.  "Well, Mr. Libertarian, how would you solve the problems of the people of East Palestine?"    We get into the federal government's handling of this matter.  Regulations don't make us safer, and accidents are more likely due to the involvement of the State.  The clean-up process will tend to be dishonest and corrupt because it will be politically managed.  Some suffering and damage won't be addressed as politicians protect their cronies, even though a ton of money will be spent.   That's how the federal government actually works, in the real world, instead of the fantasy. That's why, in this episode, we go full voluntaryist.  We explain how consumer-controlled government would address the problem. We reveal how a voluntary society would have more and better governance than we presently have, all without the coercive apparatus of the State.  We lay out three levels of support that would be available to victims of train derailments and other corporate tragedies, in a post-statist society.  Bill Protzmann is your moderator.
