Leviticus 8 Bible Study - The Establishment of the Priesthood - Part 1 - The Ordination.

In this Bible Study we look at Leviticus chapter 8. Chapters 8-10 are all about the establishment of the priesthood, and today we look at the ordination process. God gave Moses very specific instructions in Exodus 28 and 29 and here we see those plans carried out.

00:49 - Leviticus 1-7 Offerings Review The offerings outlined in Leviticus 1-7: the burnt offering, the grain offering, the fellowship (peace) offering, as well as the sin and guilt offerings. 27:56 - Conclusions: In the Old Covenant, God’s people had a priesthood, but under the New Covenant, we, the church, are called to be that priesthood.

1 Peter 2.5, “you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” We are still called to make sacrifices today, but they are spiritual in nature, and not through the blood of animals.

1 Peter 2.9, “you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”

1 Cor 6.18-20, “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.”

Closing Question for you to think on, do you consider yourself a holy, anointed priest of the Lord, anointed, consecrated, Set Apart for the Lord? If not, why not? If so, how?
