This episode explores the concept of sin as a governing power in the world, stemming from Adam’s original sin. It discusses how Jesus’ sacrifice put an end to sin and reconciled believers to God. The importance of following Christ’s example and living a righteous life is emphasized.
John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
Side Note: People don’t go to hell because of sin, for Jesus has taken away the sin of the world, not just for the church. The unrighteous deeds or works of the flesh also do not lead one to hell, as they do not inherit the kingdom of God, which is embodied by the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8/1 Corinthians 4:20). The word "power" in this context encompasses the Greek term "dunamis," signifying both dynamic and explosive force. Peter preached the necessity of repentance for the remission of sins, after which one can be filled with the Holy Spirit and the unrighteous deeds or works of the flesh will be replaced by the fruits of the Spirit, thus enabling one to inherit the kingdom of God. What ultimately condemns people to hell is disbelief, as evidenced by examples in Romans 1:18-32 and the attitude of the Pharisees and people of Israel depicted in the four Gospels. Despite Christ's atonement for the sins of the world, many refuse to believe it, despite the truth being manifest in a world where Satan holds sway (2 Corinthians 4:4). The message of the kingdom is that sin will be eradicated from the world once and for all (Romans 6:10). However, the devil seeks to obscure this message with false light, leading people away from belief in the finished work on the cross, where all our sins—past, present, and future—were dealt with. It comes down to accepting the work of God through belief or being content with worldly desires instigated by the Devil, and living one's own life instead of embracing the new life offered by God to the entire world.
