In this PODCAST, I explore the so called extreme cost of living in Downtown San Diego. I take a closer look at the average cost of housing, food and dining, transportation, and entertainment and lifestyle costs. First, I dive into the average cost of rent for a one or two-bedroom apartment in different neighborhoods and types of buildings versus buying a one or two-bedroom condo. I also discuss other housing costs such as utilities, parking, and amenities. Next, I move on to food and dining costs, including the average cost of groceries, and eating out at restaurants and cafes in the area. I also highlight popular dining options and their respective prices. Then, I talk about the cost of owning a car and alternative transportation options such as public transit (trolley, Amtrak, and MTS bus) and ride-sharing services including electric scooters. Finally, I discuss the cost of entertainment options, gym memberships, and other lifestyle costs such as clothing and personal care products. Overall, I summarize the various costs discussed in the PODCAST and conclude that housing is the biggest cost driver in the city. Join me as I take a closer look at the extreme cost of living in downtown San Diego.
