Episode 127- The Hardest Part of Parenting: Letting Them Struggle

In this solo episode, I reflect on the emotional challenges we face as parents when we can’t shield our children from life’s difficulties. Drawing from my own experiences, like my son’s struggles with math and our family’s ordeal with our dog’s emergency surgery, I dive into the delicate balance of supporting our kids while managing our own emotions. I share how important it is to foster resilience—not just in our children as they learn to navigate hardships, but also in ourselves as we sit with the discomfort of not having all the answers. I offer practical advice, including finding creative solutions, seeking outside help, and giving our kids the space to fully process their feelings. Most importantly, I encourage grace and self-compassion for all of us who are doing our best as parents.
