Guest: Prajwal (Praj) Reddy, MD

Hosts: Malcolm R. Bell, M.D.

Imaging can play a crucial role in diagnosis and management of pericarditis, particularly if recurrent. Echocardiography, cardiac computed tomography (CCT), and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) offer complimentary evaluation of pericardial disease in its various presentations. In this podcast, we review the characteristic signs and features on multi-modality imaging in patients with acute and recurrent pericardial inflammation and its utility in tailoring therapy.

Topics Discussed:

  • What is the role of imaging in the initial diagnosis of pericarditis?
  • How is multi-modality cardiac imaging utilized in recurrent pericarditis?
  • Follow up question to the above: Is serial imaging with cardiac MRI helpful in treatment of recurrent pericarditis?
