If there's one thing I do extremely well, it's reverse engineering what works. I love to observe successful people and understand why certain strategies work for them - how they apply them and what makes them effective. I'm not looking to copy anyone, I just want to comprehend the method behind the success.

I've been podcasting since May of 2020 and I own a Podcast Marketing & Production Agency. Because I'm wired to break things down and analyze why something succeeds, I've observed three key things that make top podcasters stand out. I have observed three things that make top podcasters stand out, and I'm super excited to share that with you today.

So let's dive in!

Juliana Barbati (00:00):
If there's one thing I do extremely well, that

(00:03):
is my friend, to reverseengineer things. I love to
observe people. And I love tosee why something is working,
and that does not mean, I'mcopying anybody, I just like to
see why a certain strategy worksfor some people and how they do
it and how they apply it. And,of course, I've been podcasting

(00:23):
since May of 2020. And I own aPodcast Management Agency. And
because that is how my brainworks, I am wired to reverse
engineer things and reallydissect things into understand
why something works, I haveobserved three things that
really make top podcasters standout, and I'm super excited to
share that with you today. Solet's dive in.

(00:47):
Welcome to the Organic MarketingSimplified podcast. I'm your
host, Juliana. And around here,we replace endless hustle with a
smart focus strategies for yourbusiness growth. If you're fed
up with tactics to over promiseand under deliver and leaving
you exhausted instead ofexcited, this is the podcast for
you. Get ready to dive intodeeper practical podcasting

(01:11):
tips, smart monetization andgrowth tactics that bring your
business visibility and profits. It's time to simplify your
strategy and amplify yoursuccess. Let's go.
So before anything, let's talkabout the big elephant in the
room, is podcasting saturated? And here's what I have to say.

(01:31):
There are two types of peoplehere in this podcasting space.
People who think podcasts anddesaturate and it doesn't work,
and they are too late and theygive up. And the people that are
like me to have this scientifickind of brain, they love to try
new things. And they love tounderstand if something didn't
work, how can we make it work?So you really do have this

(01:53):
scientists like this personwho's doing experiments and
trying things out. So obviously, the person who thinks podcasting
saturated, they're tellingthemselves like, I'm not getting
downloads, I'm not getting anyvisibility. This podcast is not
doing anything from a business.Whereas people who have the
growth mindset and they love toexplore things and make things

(02:16):
work because they see the finishline. They're asking questions
like, How can I grow mylistenership? How can I improve
my show? How can I do thingsthat were actually placed in
front of my ideal listener. Andof course, it all comes down to
three basic things.
Number one, as you can tell, ismindset. So your mindset how

(02:37):
your mind is primed, wheneveryou go into anything in life,
that will for sure determiningyour success or not. Because if
you are relentless, if you'rejust not going to give up if
you're just going to keeptrying. And of course, we have
to be smart about this, likewe're not going to keep make the
same mistakes again and again, and hoping that one day things
are just going to poof, magically change.

(02:58):
That's what we're doing here, right, like because the next
part is having a good strategy.Top podcasters they have
strategy, anybody who'ssuccessful, they have strategy
behind anything that they do,whether they see it or not, they
do have a strategy in place.
The third thing is commitment.Because here's the thing. I have

(03:20):
literally talked to people whotold me, they went out and they
got the microphone and they setup a studio, and they recorded
like five episodes, and thenthey launched their podcast. And
then after the two weeks, theypacked it all up. Here's the
thing, you're probably not goingto see anything crazy happening
from your podcast, just from twoweeks, you really have to commit

(03:43):
to this. So when you look at bigpodcasters they have been
podcasting for a while. I haveyet to see anybody who just like
starts and has an amazing showright out of the gate. And
listen, that is absolutelypossible. But here's the thing,
if somebody does have successright out of the gate, what did
they do? They keep podcasting.
So podcasting is not like thismagical being that will just put

(04:07):
you on the map and does thingslike no matter what you'd have
to commit to it. So first thingsfirst is again, having the
mindset when I started apodcast, he may of 2020. Even
though I didn't have anaudience, I knew that my show
would stand out that I had amessage to say, and I had to
overcome a lot of mindset andblogs and fears that were

(04:31):
keeping me stuck from beingsuper honest. If you go back and
listen to the very first episodeof this podcast, which I still
have up, it was a differentniche. I'm always
intrapreneurship just adifferent category. I was
talking more about e commerce. Ieven say it in that episode that
I wanted to quit right then andthere. And a few years and I'm
still here, I'm still podcastingand it is because I stuck with

(04:54):
it that I have a successfulshow. And I kept podcasting even
when I did a giveaway at 25 For50 episodes, and nobody entered
to win, I did a giveaway when hefelt like nobody was listening.
Like I could see the numberslike you can see the numbers,
you can log in to your podcastdashboard. And you can see the
people are listening. But you'renot getting any feedback. And it

(05:14):
feels like this isn't landingwith anybody. But I kept
podcasting because you will seethe fruits of your labor for a
while. And this is true withanything in life. Like you
cannot put a seed in the groundtoday. And then expect tomorrow
for it to be a full blown tree, giving fruit, you just have to
wait. And you just have to bepatient.
The strategy part I talked aboutthis a ton in this podcast

(05:36):
episode, and I'll make sure tolink episodes down below. So
they can go ahead and listen andmake sure that you are applying
strategies to your podcastbecause podcasting for the sake
of podcasting is not going to doanything for your business, you
do have to have a strategy inplace. And they come in and
peace. This is something that Ialways talk about. This is
something that if you're goingto start a podcast with the

(05:59):
attitude that you're going tosee where this takes you and
you're going to see whathappens. And you're just going
to show up and you feel like it,like what you put into this is
what you're going to get inreturn. So if you're giving this
like whatever, I don't careattitude, then you're not going
to get a whole lot of resultsback. But if you commit, and you

(06:19):
have the good mindset, and youhave a good strategy in place,
guess what your show will be asuccess. And by the way, I just
want to talk about success for asecond and side by here. A
successful show does not meanthat you have to have a million
downloads, it does not mean thatyou need to have 2000 downloads
per episode or anything likethat. You can have a successful

(06:40):
show with his mobile audienceand still monetize and still
make money from Desmo. Audience, you don't have to attend to have
the super popular show withmillions or 1000s of downloads
free to make money from yourshow, you can do that right now.
I made my first dollar for mypodcast, I launched in May of
2020 in August of 2020. That'swhen I monetize my show, I sold

(07:03):
a spot to a coaching call. And Iwas just pitching my services.
And the only thing that I diddifferently was that in August
of 2020, I started promoting mycoaching offer that was
literally the only thing thatchanged, and I made money from
it podcast. And at that point intime, I had about 1000 downloads
or so not a lot. So the pointI'm trying to make is, if you

(07:26):
have those three things inplace, these are the same three
things the top podcasters havein place for their own show.
They didn't get there overnight,it took them time. And Mindset,
Strategy and commitment is areally the secret recipe to
having a successful podcast.
And if we're super excited, because let's face it,

(07:48):
commitment, strategy, andmindset, those are things that
are well within your control. And if you're super excited to
understand that having asuccessful podcast is something
that is totally achievable andtotally possible for you. Then
you want to make sure thatyou're subscribed because next
week, I'm spilling the beans onhow you could turn your podcast

(08:08):
into your sales team. So eventhough you're minded podcasting,
by yourself, it's just you and amicrophone every single week
just like me, I am going tospill the beans on how you can
actually make money podcastingand how you can turn your
podcasts into an evergreen salescall Sales Machine for you so
that by the time people arehopping on a sales call with

(08:30):
you, or by the time somebodygets on your sales page, they're
just ready to buy because theyknow you're the person for them.
So make sure you're subscribedand until next time may you find
God's love, grace, mercy andpeace and I'll see you then bye.
