Juliana Barbati (00:01):
Welcome back to Organic Marketing Simplified for
podcasters. Today, I have thepleasure of sitting down with
one of my clients, Marta Sprik.Marta is one of the most special
people you're ever going to comeacross in your life. This woman
has so much going on for her.She has a very successful
business. She is a TEDx speaker. She has written two books, she's

(00:23):
actually on her way to writingher third book. She is a
motivational speaker. She is avisibility strategist and she's
also a singer, songwriter. Andto top it all off, this woman is
a mother to three kids, and notjust any three kids. She's a
mother to triplets, and her kidsare 8 years old. So she's got

(00:43):
her hands full and she does itall in, she's really truly
amazing.
Now, Martha is also a podcaster. She has been podcasting since
2018, and her podcast is a verysuccessful one. She is the host
of the Empowered Woman podcast,a top half percent ranking show
worldwide. So she already has avery successful show. But she

(01:04):
came to work with us because sheknew that she wanted to expand
her reach, even beyond thesuccess that she had already
achieved thus far. So I'm superexcited to chat with her today
and you'll get to hear some ofthe things that were implemented
and some of the ways that she'sbeen able to monetize her show,
even more since coming to workwith us. So enjoy the show.

(01:28):
Awesome. Oh, thank you. Mythanks so much for coming on the
podcast. I am so excited to chatwith you today and chat more
about your podcast and theresults you have been getting. I
am so pumped.

Marta Spirk (01:38):
Yes, me too. Thank you for having me excited to
share.

Juliana Barbati (01:41):
Yes. Okay. So for the people who don't know
you yet, let them know what yourpodcast is all about?

Marta Spirk (01:47):
Yes. So I'm Marcus Berg. I am a singer and a
visibility strategist. And Ihave a podcast called The
Empowered Woman. And the focusreally is on visibility
strategies for womenentrepreneurs, so essentially
women who want to make moresales.

Juliana Barbati (02:02):
Yes. And of course, if you're in design
space, visibility is key, right?Like, the more visible you are,
the more people hear about you,the more people want to work
with you. So you can all be ahermit and want to have a
successful business. It's not awork.

Marta Spirk (02:15):
Exactly.I always say you can't sell a secret. So
you got to be talking aboutyourself and putting yourself
out there in different ways, sothat people can find you.

Juliana Barbati (02:25):
Yeah, yes. Okay. So let's think back to
like before podcast days, right.Like, when you're thinking about
starting your podcast, what wereyour big goals for your
podcasts? And then the secondpart of your question is, how
did we help you achieve some ofthose goals. And by the way,
Marta has been podcasting for ahot minute now. So she didn't

(02:45):
just start, like Martha alreadyhas a top half percent podcast,
who already has an amazingpodcast. But take us back to the
beginning.

Marta Spirk (02:54):
Yeah. So my hope with the podcast really was to
gain clarity on my business. Imean, 100% transparency here,
because I launched a podcast in2018. And back then I had
started coaching, but I didn'treally know who my audience was.
I mean, I had an idea, but Iwasn't really making a whole lot
of money, I wasn't really sureof it. I wasn't really that big

(03:16):
of a podcast listener, to behonest. But I had a mentor that
had a successful podcast. And aspart of what we were doing, you
know, the mastermind I was in,she had a course that helped to
launch a podcast. And I waslike, you know what? I can do
this, if she can do this? I cando this. So let's put it out
there. I like talking. So thatwas another selling point for me
was that I didn't have to worryabout editing videos and doing

(03:38):
my hair doing my makeup. I wouldjust show up in record and just
free reign of talking to theabyss of the internet.
And that's what I did. But thefocus was, or the idea that you
know that the results that Iwanted was reaching more people.
Having people know who I was, gain more clients, and then gain
clarity on who it was that I wassupporting. So that's where it

(04:01):
was, the podcast was not calledThe Empowered Woman back then,
when I launched it was actuallycalled mom does it all because
that was where I was going forafter having triplets and
starting my coaching businesses.Encouraging other moms that they
could do other things other thanbeing a mom and finding their
identity beyond motherhood. Sothat's where I started.

Juliana Barbati (04:20):
Yeah, it's okay. I love that. So fast
forward to the future as horseby now you have clarity. And by
the way, I just want to put outthere that even as seasoned
entrepreneurs, you're alwaysrefining and you're always
finding more clarity. And you'realways just the more comfortable
you get with your audience. Themore you like Nisha, and more

(04:40):
and more and more because justyou know exactly what you liked,
and we don't like and all thosethings. So at this point, you
have clarity, and how did ouragency help you with your
podcasting goals, and even someof those earlier goals that you
had with your podcast? Yeah.

Marta Spirk (04:56):
So I had more clarity, but like you said,
everybody can use more Forclarity, it's a constant
evolution nary process. And youwere actually the one that
encouraged me to go with thevisibility direction because
before, you know, I rebrandedI've been calling it the
empowered woman podcast since2020. So a few years in, I
switched it. And this has beenmy brand for the longest time.

(05:16):
But I was still focusing more onthe motivational side of things.
So it was like, Yeah, personalgrowth was I used to say it was
personal growth and marketing, things like that. And then when
we started working together, youwere like, No, Marta, it has to
be very specific tagline. It hasto be visibility. This is your
thing, visibility strategies forwomen entrepreneurs. And then
obviously, within visibilitystrategies, you can talk about

(05:37):
mindset, you can talk aboutthese other things. But you
helped me get even narrow itdown even more revamping my art
as well, because the cover, Ihad changed it a few times ever
since rebranding it and youencouraged me to go closer to
what my book cover is so thateverything was consistent. So I
was very happy with that. And soI think part of your support was

(06:03):
this refinement, reallyrefinement of what already was,
because I had been consistent. That's one of the things that I
pride myself in is that I didn'tgive up, right? I mean, I
started in 2018. And I'm stillgoing, I've skipped a few weeks,
right? I've done differentseries and different things, but
I didn't give up. And that hasserved me well. But my goal in
starting to work with you guyswas really expanding my reach

(06:26):
even more than my social media, because that's one of the main
ways that I promote the podcastis via my social media, and one
of the main ways that I makebusiness and then connect with
people. And I wanted to go moreof the passive route of how can
I make this more hands off, notonly in the production side, but
in terms of gaining clients? Andso you've helped with that, too?

(06:48):
Yeah.

Juliana Barbati (06:49):
Well, you know, I have to say, you're very
coachable. And you're very opento my ideas. You know, there are
the clients for like, I don'tknow about this is gross, crazy,
but the ones who listen to me,like they take off, I'm just
gonna put it out there. And I'mjust gonna say this, I have to
own it. I'm really good atpointing out the blind spots,
because you don't see what Isee. And I'm like, girl, are you

(07:09):
kidding me? You're thevisibility queen, like you're
everywhere. Like that is yourthing. And again, like you're
very coachable. So you're like, hey, let's do it. You're very
open to my ideas, which makesthings so much easier when
there's not their resistance. Imean, I don't know if there was
resistance if there wasn't everheard about it, which was?

Marta Spirk (07:28):
Well, I think there's hesitation, right,
because you're doing things acertain way. But if my goal was
to improve what I was alreadydoing, and hiring somebody to
tell me what to do, I'm alwaysopen for experimentation. And I
think this is really a gift thatwe give ourselves as
entrepreneurs is, why not giveit a go for a little bit? See
what happens? And then youcourse correct, but you have to

(07:50):
be willing to try especiallyhearing all of the amazingness
that you've created for otherclients, why not try it out for
things that I didn't know, whichwe're going to talk about SEO
being one of them that I hadnever dabbled with? Why not give
it a try and see what happens?Yeah, that's

Juliana Barbati (08:05):
also my motto, like, let's just give it a try.
Let's just have fun with thisthing. Let's experiment and be
scientists. Because at the coreof it all, that's how scientists
make discoveries, they mess up alot. And then one day, or
something, you know, so we haveto apply the same thing into our
business and everything ingeneral. So we already touched
on this a little bit, or maybewe can go a little bit deeper.
So before we work together, whatwere some of the challenges that

(08:28):
you were facing? We can talkabout the podcasts or the
business in general, but Iguess, you know, social media
was one of them. So you told me?

Marta Spirk (08:36):
Yeah, so I would say the biggest one was making
the show more findable to peopleoutside of my immediate circle.
And that's the goal was having apodcast right as people that you
don't know, at all, just findingit, and getting ranked in all
kinds of different countriesthat I have no connections with.
And that potentially I wouldn'treach on social media, for

(08:56):
whatever reason, because I'm notreally big on you know, using
the hashtags and doing all thesethings, like I have tried it all
girl. And at the end of the day, what has worked for me is
networking with people locally. So I do lots of in person
networking, so that ends upbeing the people that I reach.
But having a podcast, you can goglobal. And so I wanted to reach
more people. So that was reallymy focus is how can I make

(09:18):
what's good, even better, and Ineed experts to help me with
that. And with that I was notonly able to rank in other
countries really reached top 25In Brazil, which was fun being
from Brazil, that was nice, morethan double downloads. So I had
167% growth, which is evencrazy. I don't even know what

(09:41):
that means. I mean, obviously Iknow because you said that to
me. But you know when you saywow, it's over 100% usually
because usually it's like doubleyou know, it's it's a bajillion
more than what I wasexperiencing before. But one of
my favorites really was reachingpeople that are not in my
network, immediate network andhaving them one on one of the
screen because of that.

Juliana Barbati (10:01):
Yeah, that's amazing. Like, that's really
cool to hear, especially whenyou're like, I didn't even know
this thing of what the countrylike. And you're right. Yeah.
Like, cool to like see thosekinds of results? So what was
the moment that you're like,Okay, I need to like, move
beyond it. And I need to hireJuliana, like, what was the
turning point for you? Well,

Marta Spirk (10:22):
I think in many ways, because we built this
friendship and talking aboutbusiness things, and we have
this common ground with beingBrazilian that was, I just
really love your personality, and how no BS you are. So that
was the beginnings of it. Butthen again, knowing about the
testimonials and the resultsthat you have given to your

(10:43):
client. So it's a combination ofseveral different factors. And I
think really frustration withsocial media, like, I know what
I'm doing is working, but it'salso exhausting. How can I make
this like I said, more passive, like I'm creating these episodes
are recording these interviews, someone's editing them taking
this off of my hands, and it'sdoing the work in itself. And

(11:04):
then it's bringing me peoplethat want to work with me,
because they already heard my,my episodes, they know me a
little bit more, I don't have toconvince them as much. So that
was really it. It was methinking, how can I uplevel my
business, and that's what I tellmy clients to, I've really
learned what I need to do tosell online. Now what I want to

(11:24):
do is make it less hard and lesstime consuming for me, so that I
can take a step back and relax. And the podcast is that tool?

Juliana Barbati (11:33):
Yes, for sure. I mean, you know, one of the
things that I always tell peopleis that your podcast is a sales
call it like on demand, likepeople can just listen to you,
they find your podcasts, theylisten to one and they're like,
Okay, I like this. And it'sanother next thing you know,
they're going back like to thebeginning of your pious in there
just binging and by the timethat if you do have a sales

(11:54):
call, by the time they sit downwith you, it's basically a yes.
Or if you program you're sellinglike they're already sold,
because it feels so intimate. Itfeels like a phone call with a
friend, you know, and it'savailable anywhere, right? Like
you don't have to log in toInstagram or Facebook or
whatever. Like it's available onany platform. You just need a
phone and you can listen, whichthat is amazing, like, so if you

(12:17):
have a podcast in your heart, just go for it, because it'll do
wonders for your business. Itdoes. So we already touched on
this a little bit about the SEO.So I mean, obviously, the SEO is
the bread and butter of what wedo here. Like more than a
podcast Management Agency. Weare a podcast marketing and
production agency, because wereally do focus on the organic
marketing piece. So what weresome of the strategies that we

(12:38):
implemented that you're like,oh, my gosh, this is working.
This is so cool. Yeah. Well,

Marta Spirk (12:43):
first of all, I know what SEO means, but I have
never implemented it in any ofmy stuff, period. Because I've
done most of my stuff like moreon the low budget side, like
even my website. And I've hiredcopywriters and stuff, but it
was never like, well, let's makesure the blog posts I've never
done blog posts, any of thosethings that require SEO, so I

(13:04):
had no idea what it was. Andthen to receive every week from
my podcast, the Google Doc withall the stats of the words that
are getting the most searchesthat would be relevant to my
episode, and to then create thetitle for that the show notes.
So essentially, what I reallywanted was to make it findable
by people that were looking forthose words, I didn't even think

(13:26):
of these things. When I createdthe name empowered woman. It's
just like, I wanted to use thisname, whatever. And so having
your insight first and foremost,on the keywords that I could put
for the show in the descriptionof the show was huge. To then
again, nice Dalmore and havethose people find the show for
what I have offers for right, which is visibility, which is

(13:47):
helping them with visibility. It's not just mindset, or
whatever it was that I hadbefore. But really the show
notes and the suggestions oftitles were impressive, because
I can see why it makes such adifference. Why would people
click on it and want to listento it. And then like you said,
Go on and binge is because therewas a science behind naming the

(14:09):
episode. It's not justhaphazard, how to grow your
business or whatever, somethingsuper generic. It's very
specific to what I teach on theepisode or whatever the
interview was about. So thatthat was really impressive. And
also the whole how professionalthe quality of the editing was
with adding the music and themid roll commercials for my own

(14:34):
offers, which that was fun, because I have a few different
commercials that I have for likefree resources or an application
for one of my mastermindprograms. And I had somebody
fill out the mastermindapplication and say I found you
through the podcast. So it waswith that commercial. It wasn't
with any of my social mediaposts. So all of that together,

(14:56):
has made it for an amazingimprovement to the show.

Juliana Barbati (14:59):
Oh my god I love that so much. And of
course, you know, the reachlike, like you were saying
before your ranking and allthese countries 167% growth,
like I don't even know what thattranslates to in terms of like
2x or 3x, or whatever. I'm justI don't, it's a lot. Like, this
is so great. And you already hadan amazing show. And that goes

(15:19):
to to just say that you couldhave an amazing show and make it
even better and have even morereach. So do not miss out on
SEO, because it really does makea difference. Like what percent?
Yeah, so you know what, let'stalk monetization. Because
that's always like, number onequestion in people's mind. Well,
let's talk about monetization.Because we, you and I, we geek
out over this stuff. And I'mlike, I have to make more money

(15:43):
out of this podcast girl. Yes,

Marta Spirk (15:45):
exactly. Well, the biggest thing is continuing to
talk about your offers andhaving a plan, especially for
the solo episodes, that wassomething else I forgot to
mention that you really helpedme with, is making my episodes
more evergreen. Because beforewhat I would do not with the
interviews, obviously, but withmy solo episodes is that I would
focus on whatever it was that Iwas promoting, at the time on my

(16:06):
social media, which made theepisodes kind of dated, because
if I wasn't launching that thinganymore, people would go look on
social media, they wouldn't findit, or maybe the sales pages
wouldn't be updated. And thenyou encouraged me to make a list
of overarching topics that couldlead people to whatever offers
that I have, that are moreevergreen, which makes so much

(16:27):
sense. But I didn't hadn't eventhought of that, obviously,
without having some kind ofguidance and mentorship. And
that made it so much easier forme to record solo episodes that
could point people towards someof my offers. And one of my
higher ticket offers is mymastermind. So to have somebody
fill out an application for him, because I mentioned it in on an

(16:47):
episode, it speaks volumes ofthe reach that the show is
getting, because we know peoplelook. So for somebody to
actually take their time to goand click the link and fill it
out. Knowing that I will reachout to them and get in touch
with them is is huge. It's lotsof action steps there. Right. So
it really proves to me how thewhole revamp really that you

(17:10):
helped me with did what Iaccomplished what I was set out
for, which was reaching peopleoutside of my immediate network.
And it accomplished even morethan that. But that was really
proof and being able to continuegrowing by income and my sales
without having to focus so muchon social media, because the

(17:30):
podcast is doing the work andthe behind the scenes.

Juliana Barbati (17:33):
Yes, and I love that we have worked together
like outside of, you know, justmentioning the offers and be
very specific, like we havetalked about let's create this
offer. And then we created thatoffer. And that offer worked.
And we're like, okay, let'screate a fun a lot of does offer
because now we know that itworks. So we're creating like
all the things that ultimatelyjust helps you make more money
from your podcast, one test hasso much reach already, like

(17:56):
let's make sure to monetize theshow. And we don't have to wait
right for this week, you don'thave to be a top half person
podcaster to monetize your show, you can right from the start for
the beginning, right and all thethings so yeah, again, like when
you have my eyes on yourbusiness, I am going to be all
up in your business. And I'mgonna be like, okay, like, we
got to do something around here, because I get that working with

(18:18):
me as an investment. And I wantyou to make money, right? So
like, let's make it rain aroundhere. And I'm really proud that
you know, I love that so much.So tell me for anyone who's
listening, and they'reconsidering working with me
whether they want to do what youdid, which is to have our agency
take care of it for them, orthey want to work inside of the

(18:38):
group coaching program, whatwould you tell them,

Marta Spirk (18:41):
I would tell them, you need to learn from an
expert, especially if you'vebeen in business for a while,
you know, and this is the thing, especially if you're a coach,
and you're asking people to payyou for what you know, you know
how valuable it is to hiresomebody that has a knowledge on
a specific subject matter. Comein, and like you said, show you

(19:03):
where the blind spots are, andhelp you do things so much
faster. I mean, this is what weuse money for, is to really move
faster with somebody else's helpbecause they have the wisdom.
They've been there. They'veworked with people I mean, you
have all kinds of successstories to show for, of what you
can help people reach with theirpodcast. So that's number one

(19:23):
thing. The second thing is justyour personality, like I said,
and it really how you handlethings. It's very light and
lively but no BS so your gostraight to the point you don't
sugarcoat things, which I thinkis really important and very
professional as well. Soeverything is done in time. That
was something else that youknow, you really straightened me
up because I used to do thingsvery last minute that's also

(19:45):
part of my personality potentialBrasilien factor there, but it's
like a week before I need tohave everything ready because
the episode is going to be youknow, taken care of and I don't
have to worry about it. So itreally helps me to structure it
Many ways, and that's what everybusiness owner needs is
structured. So whether they gothe group route or the done for

(20:06):
you route, you can be sureyou'll have amazing results.

Juliana Barbati (20:10):
Yes, I love that so much. And I just want to
say that in the agency, we dorequire your episodes to be in a
week in advance. But ultimately, that helps you as an
entrepreneur, because you haveto plan right? Because I can say
for myself, there were times inthe past where I was like, Oh,
my gosh, I'm gonna launch thisthing that I just came up with
while they're gonna shower. Andit's all haphazard. And I, you

(20:32):
know, my links are not working. And sales pages are like things
are broken. And it's like, no,you have to think about things.
I think it's okay in thebeginning, when we're kind of
trying things out to see whatsticks into business. But like
later in life, as after we havegrown and want to scale, we need
to be like, Okay, we're doingthis, this real, and let's do

(20:53):
it. Yeah. Anyway, Martha, thankyou so much for hopping on. This
has been great. And I cannotwait to see how much of your
growth your podcast is going toget. Yes, thank you so

Marta Spirk (21:03):
much for having me and for all

Juliana Barbati (21:04):

work together. I offer a groupcoaching program called the
profitable podcast blueprintwhere you have lifetime access,

one way that we can worktogether. I also own a podcast
