Speaker 1 (00:10):

Steph, and we tune in here totap into some mojo.
You see, I think I've crackedthe code to being happy.
I'm happy every single day, nojokes.
Maybe not all day, every day,but I've built this tool shed

(00:31):
full of amazing stuff to help meout of and avoid getting into
life's most sticky and stressfulsituation, and I'm not here to
gatekeep.
So settle in, take some notesand welcome to where your mojo
meets the road.
Each and every episode you hearis made just for you and it's

(00:53):
all about you and your mojo.
And when was the last time youspent some time just on you?
This episode is made with loveand good intention to share with
you some delicious nuggets ofinspiration and insights to help
you stay connected to your verybest mojo.
In today's episode, I'm goingto review our mantra for the

(01:14):
week and then we're going to diginto today's main topic, and
that topic is my favorite toadand that's gratitude.
And I know you've got aGajillion podcast to choose from
, so I'm super stoked thatyou're here.
So you stick around and I'llmake sure that you're glad you
did.
Let's get started with today'smantra and get tuned in, tapped

(01:37):
in and turned on.
Hello and welcome to the 11thepisode of Pocket Full Emojo.
And once again, I'm Steph, I'myour hostess and your mojo,
maven, and I'm super pumpedyou're here.
This is going to be a veryempowering episode, so let's dig

(01:58):
right in.
Today's mantra is I attract moreof what I want by being
grateful for what I already have?
Oh, okay, this one is nextlevel mojo master, so saddle up,
here we go.
I attract more of what I wantby being grateful for what I
already have.

(02:18):
This mantra is vibrational.
It leans into the idea that weare energetic beings having a
human experience, and that is mythought.
This mantra really underlinesthe universal truth that we
attract what we put out there.
I attract more of what I wantby being grateful for what I

(02:41):
already have.
You know like energy can onlybe spent in one place at a time,
so when you're focusing yourthoughts and your energy on what
you have, you can't also bespending that energy thinking
about what you lack.
This is the key to staying inalignment with what's on its way
to you.
I attract more of what I wantby being grateful for what I

(03:05):
already have, by acknowledgingthe abundance that you already
have in your life and beinggrateful for it, you're really
putting the welcome mat out forsome more, and you're just as
entitled to abundance as anyone, and that abundance lives in
gratitude.
So it's a pretty good place tovisit.

(03:25):
I attract more of what I wantby being grateful for what I
already have, like compliments, when you shoe them and you tell
them to go away or you take themfor granted, you'll notice that
they stop showing up.
So show the world that you arenot only ready for more, but you
know how to receive and acceptmore by taking care of what you

(03:48):
already have.
You ever hear the saying thisis why we can't have nice things
.
Well, dig into that.
I attract more of what I wantby being grateful for what I
already have.
And you know what I'm gratefulfor.
I'm grateful for you.
Thanks for being here.
Sweet listener Means a lot tome.
Now let's dig into our maintopic.

(04:10):
So I want you to picture this,if you will.
You, you're always there foreveryone else.
You're bending over backwards, you're making miracles happen,
you master the multitask and youdo all this to make sure
everyone else's needs are met.

(04:31):
Meanwhile your own desires, your dreams, they're hanging out
in the backseat under a blanket, with maybe some takeout
wrappers and gas receipts.
This sound familiar?
Am I painting a picture for you?
Well, fear not, because todaywe're going to flip the script
and we're going to sprinkle alittle bit of magic in your life

(04:53):
and, believe it or not, it'sbased in gratitude.
So let's start by acknowledgingsome familiar pain points, with
the people pleasing.
It's tough, right?
Constantly worrying aboutpossibly disappointing other
people, feeling anxious aboutnot meeting expectations and all

(05:13):
along knowing that you'reneglecting your own well-being,
your own self-care along withthis process.
So there's a lot to unpackthere and there's a lot of mixed
signals.
No wonder you're exhausted.
But guess what, my friend, you're not alone in this and
you're welcome to try new things.
So, just for kicks, stay withme on this one.

(05:37):
Let's take a minute to talkabout gratitude.
So gratitude is like asuperpower, my friends.
It's about appreciating thelittle things in life and the
big things and finding joy inthis present moment, this one
right here, and acknowledgingall the amazing blessings that
are around you and they arethere.
So I'm going to challenge younow, and I'm sure you're sitting

(06:00):
there listening, saying toyourself yeah, I've got a lot of
things around me to be gratefulfor.
But gratitude is a verb.
Its superpowers are onlyactivated when you are actively
grateful.
Being aware isn't enough.
It's a start, but if you reallywant to see the needle move,
it's about practicing gratitude.

(06:22):
That's what all the Instagramposts say, don't they?
And if I had a dollar for everygratitude post I see yes,
including my own I'd be Oprah'snext door neighbor.
Okay, and because here's thekey Gratitude is a feeling.
Gratitude is more than justsaying thank you or
acknowledging blessings.
It's truly a mindset, a way ofseeing the world, with

(06:46):
appreciation and thankfulnessfor both the big and the small
things in life.
It's about recognizing the good, even in challenging situations
, and finding joy in as manymoments as you can collect.
Gratitude is a feeling in yourbones.
It's a state of highervibration when it starts to

(07:07):
overwhelm you.
That's how you know you'redoing it right.
I'm lucky enough to live a lifethat literally brings me to
tears when I'm deep in gratitudepractice.
It's amazing how long the listof things to be grateful for
becomes.
The more you get to knowyourself, the longer that list
is.
So let's dig into some practicalways to practice gratitude.

(07:29):
Let's get the most obvious oneoff the table.
First Gratitude journaling.
Now, I can't be the first oneto recommend this to you.
It's not a revolutionaryconcept, but you know why you
see it everywhere Because it'seffective.
You know why you haven'tstarted it yet Because you don't
like journaling Me too.
So if you're not into settingaside a few minutes each day to

(07:54):
write down just three thingsthat you're grateful for, then
you can make it part of yourdaily commute.
Just say all the things thatcome into your mind that you can
be grateful for while youlisten to your favorite music.
One time I turned on my voicerecorder when I was doing a
particularly enthusiasticgratitude practice one day and

(08:14):
went off and had this huge listthat just spilled out of me.
And on the days that I need aboost or a reminder, I can
simply pull up that audio andget back into my groove, and
that can springboard you rightback on track.
And the good news is thatthere's no wrong answers.
No one's gonna come and checkyour work and say this list is

(08:36):
too long or this list isn'tcomplete, because no one cares
about your list, babe.
But you have to.
That is the point.
They can be simple pleasures, like a meeting that went well,
or a smile from a cute stranger,or a beautiful time that you
spent with your friend.
The act of writing them down itjust helps reinforce that
positive feeling associated withit so you can recognize it next

(09:00):
time you see it.
But in truth, there's no wrongway to practice.
The second way to practicegratitude is to express yourself
, taking the time to expressyour gratitude to other people.
One of my favorite things to dofor this one is to send
heartfelt thank you.
Note, I'm old school that wayand never underestimate the

(09:22):
power of snail mail.
Or you can simply give asincere compliment and don't be
afraid to quote Ted Lasso andsay I appreciate you to someone
who's made a difference in yourlife.
One of the things I've decidedto be known for amongst my
friends is to tell them that Ilove them like an uncomfortable
amount.
Tip number three would be tobuild a mindfulness practice.

(09:44):
Now, be sure to check out thepodcast episode on mindfulness,
but you can incorporatemindfulness into your daily
routine just by paying attentionto the present moment and
throwing an attitude ofgratitude.
Notice what's around you thesights, the sounds, the
sensations.
Take a moment to reallyappreciate them, see them, enjoy

(10:06):
them like fully, fully, Don'tstop until you're there, and
you'll know.
Another way to practice, nowthat the weather is getting a
little nicer, is take yourselfon a little gratitude walk.
It's like a regular walk, butthis time you're just going to
take a leisurely walk outdoors, which is much harder to achieve

(10:27):
in a mall walking situation.
But you do.
You, and this timeintentionally, focus on the
beauty of nature.
Just look around, quiet all theother things going on in your
head, and just like notice thecolors of the leaves, listen to
the birds or feel the sun onyour skin.
And because it feels good tofeel good and to feel grateful

(10:51):
for the wonder that is nature, because it's really an
incredible thing and it's hardto describe fully everything
that comes back to you when youconnect with nature that way.
But really, the more youpractice, the more you'll
develop this relationship withthese walks that will really
fill your cup, clear your mindand get you to let go of that

(11:13):
needless weight that you carryaround in your mind and in your
heart, and it just allows you tolet go like nothing else.
And then for number five, weknow that repetition works and
this is the part where you startto build up your gratitude
rituals.
That's right.
A gratitude ritual that worksfor you, whether it's saying a

(11:33):
prayer or an acknowledgement ofthanks before meals, or keeping
a gratitude rock in your pocketto remind you to be thankful
throughout the day, like everytime you touch it, you think
about something that you'regrateful for.
Or maybe you end each day byreflecting on just three good
things that happen and jottingthem down or just saying them to
yourself in your head.

(11:54):
Think about the people thatyou're grateful for.
Think about how you reboundedfrom a situation that maybe a
couple of weeks ago you wouldhave spiraled a bit.
Whatever it is, listen to thethoughts as they come up,
observe them, acknowledge themand hold them close.
And rounding out to number six,we're going zen and we're

(12:14):
surrendering into a gratitudemeditation.
For this one, you're going towant to practice a gratitude
meditation by focusing on thethings that you're grateful for
and allowing yourself to fullyexperience the feelings of
appreciation and thankfulness.
So this is really taking all ofthose thoughts and feelings and
distilling them down to thesereally concentrated, powerful

(12:38):
feelings, and to do that, you'regoing to want to visualize each
blessing in detail and reallyfeel the gratitude as it goes
through your whole body.
Now there's some really amazingguided meditations on YouTube
that you can find that they canreally help you kind of sherpa
those thoughts through the mazeof navigating what focus

(13:00):
meditation really is.
But when you are able to dothis, it really can have a huge
impact on your ability to zeroin on your gratitude in your way
.
So I challenge you to spendsome time today shopping around
YouTube for one that you mightlike.
Start small with like a little10 minute one, and then you can
work your way up from there.

(13:21):
But this is like going to thegym.
You can't start with a 250pound weight.
You got to start small, do yourreps and that muscle will grow.
By incorporating these practicalways to practice gratitude into
your daily life, you can reallycreate a mindset of
appreciation and thankfulness.
That's going to uplift yourspirits, it's going to make you

(13:43):
feel better overall and reallyenhance your relationship with
yourself and with other people.
And if you're worried aboutwhen you're going to do these
things, like you're super busy, might I suggest maybe delegating
something or dropping somethings in your life that really
aren't moving you forward andmaybe there's something that

(14:03):
could easily be done by somebodyelse and give yourself this
time back.
Maybe one less episode ofGrey's Anatomy, whatever it is,
or maybe someone else can foollaundry.
Tonight You're busy and now youcan be grateful for one more
thing the fact that you'resurrounded by people who support
you and love you and want youto find your mojo.

(14:23):
And we'll do your laundry.
You'll be amazed at howliberating it feels to
prioritize your own needs anddesires.
It feels strange at first, butit gets better.
Now let's shift the conversationto empowerment.
Breaking free from thepeople-pleasing trap isn't easy,
but guess what?
You're stronger than you think.

(14:43):
You have the power to rewriteyour story, to set boundaries,
to prioritize your well-beingand to live a life filled with
purpose and authenticity.
Empowerment and gratitude aredeeply intertwined, each
reinforcing the other in abeautiful cycle of positivity
and self-fulfillment.
And here's how empowermentrelates to gratitude.

(15:04):
You get a shift in perspective.
Gratitude really empowers you byshifting your perspective from
what you lack to what you have, instead of focusing on
limitations and challenges.
What gratitude does is itencourages you to really
recognize there is abundance inyour life and it gives you a

(15:24):
sense of empowerment that'srooted in appreciation in the
present moment and all the goodstuff that's right there in
front of you.
It strengthens your resilience.
Practicing gratitude cultivatesresilience by helping you find
gratitude even in difficultcircumstances, when you're faced
with a tough time, and youacknowledge the things that

(15:46):
you're grateful for, it can giveyou a sense of strength and
resilience and it'll empower youto overcome challenges with a
positive mindset and not justpowering through.
You get a greater sense thatyou are strong and this is a
battle you can win.
And it encourages beingproactive.
Gratitude empowers you to takeproactive steps towards creating

(16:09):
positive change in your life.
When you acknowledge theblessings and opportunities
around you, you really becomeinspired to take action and to
pursue your goals and confidence.
You have that mojo.
That's what I'm talking about.
You are the badass.
We know this.
It's just about being able totap into it.
Then you can go and do so,knowing that you have so much to

(16:31):
be grateful for and that you'recapable of achieving great
things.
And gratitude encouragesself-reflection and
introspection, and it empowersyou to build a deeper
understanding of yourself andyour values.
As you express the gratitude forthe people experiences,
qualities that enrich your life, you gain a better idea of what

(16:53):
truly matters to you, and thisthen empowers you to make
choices that align with yoursexy self and bring proper
happiness.
You know what else it does?
It strengthens relationshipsGratitude right, who knew it?
Strengthens connections withother people.
It gives you a sense ofempowerment through the support
and encouragement that you getfrom the people around you.

(17:16):
By expressing gratitude for thepeople in your life and
acknowledging theircontributions, you really are
building stronger bonds based ona mutual appreciation, a mutual
respect, and you get thatsupportive network going that
empowers you to thrive.
Letting the people around youknow why you love them goes a

(17:37):
really long way.
It also helps them know thatthey can show up for you and
that they matter.
You always want to keep thepeople that make you happy happy
.
Overall, I think it's safe tosay that gratitude is a powerful
tool for empowerment.
It helps you recognize yourstrengths, embrace your
challenges with resilience andcreative, positive mindset.

(18:00):
That boosts you towardswhatever it is that you're
chasing.
When you practice gratituderegularly, you have everything
you need to really get thattransformational power and use
it to create a life your lifethat's filled with meaning and
purpose, and be empowered to doso.
What a thing to be grateful for.

(18:20):
