morning routines and nightroutines, and I want to share my

information from my research.

(00:55):
So buckle your seatbelt, youare in for a good one today, but
before I proceed, I want to saythank you to God for his favor
and for his faithfulness.
I want to say thank you to Godfor his favor and for his
faithfulness At the time of thisrecording.
This podcast ministry, realPeople, real Talk, has been
heard on every single continent,in 123 countries and nearly

(01:17):
2400 cities, and with that, Isay to God be the glory.
And I also want to say thankyou to you.
Thank you so much for listening, thank you for sharing.
I do covet your prayers thatthis is a ministry that I want
God to use and I want him to getthe glory, and I really
appreciate you.
And so, with that being said, Iwant to commit to doing more

(01:42):
episodes this year.
I want to do at least threeepisodes per month, moving
forward, whether it's a soloepisode or an interview or a
short devotional.
You're going to hear more fromme as I hear more from God, as I
seek more after the Lord.
Now to the content at hand.
Of course, I want to begin withGod's word.
Ephesians, chapter five, verse15 and 16, says look carefully,

(02:04):
then, how you walk, not as theunwise, but as wise, making the
best use of the time, becausethe days are evil, key in on
their phrase.
Making the best use of the time, creating and sticking to a
morning routine and a nighttimeroutine will help you to make
the best use of your time on aday to day basis.

(02:27):
So first, let's talk aboutmorning routines, our mornings.
When you get up, when thatalarm goes off in the am, that
sets the tone for the rest ofthe day, and by taking control
of these early hours, thesewaking hours, we can really
influence our productivity, ourmindset and our overall
well-being.
I'm going somewhere now.

(02:48):
Basically, your morning routinecan set you up for success.
So first we wanna talk about whyhaving a morning routine is
crucial.
A structured morning routinecan set the tone for the rest of
the day, it can reduce stressstress and it can increase
overall efficiency.
Having a morning routine canprovide a sense of stability and

(03:13):
control, which can reallyimpact your mental health and
productivity.
Numerous studies have shownthat our willpower is strongest
in the morning.
So by front loading your daywith activities that require
focus and discipline, you canmake significant progress
towards your goals before thedistractions of the day set in.
Additionally, having a routinecan reduce decision fatigue.

(03:36):
Let me go further, because whenyou know exactly what your
morning is going to look likeand you can save a lot of mental
energy and that can be betterspent on more important tasks
later in the day.
I am a witness of this.
Waking up with the plan canmake for a smooth morning and
set the foundation for a smoothday.

(03:57):
Now I want to break down somekey components of an effective
morning routine.
First things first.
You probably know where I'mgoing.
Morning routine First thingsfirst.
You probably know where I'mgoing.
Start your morning off with theLord, since Jesus saw fit to
wake you up.
The least you can do is tellhim thank you In those waking
moments.
Spend it with him, as the Biblesays in Matthew 6, 33,.

(04:21):
But seek first the kingdom ofGod and his righteousness, and
all these things shall be addedunto you.
Keying in on that phrase seekfirst.
The Bible also says in Psalm 63, 1,.
Says God, thou art my God,early will I seek you.
My soul thirsts for you, myflesh longs for you In a dry and

(04:46):
thirsty land where no water is,spend some time in prayer, some
time in worship, some time inthe word to start off your day.
Period number two hydrate.
Start your day off with a glassof water to kickstart that
metabolism and hydrate your bodyafter hours of sleep.

(05:06):
And it's also a good time totake your vitamins and my
vitamins.
That's between you and yourdoctor, whatever vitamins he see
fit, he or she see fit for youto take.
That's what you need to betaking, you know.
And I would encourage you toget your yearly physical.
I would encourage you to getsome lab work done.
I would encourage you just toget ahead of the game and just
do all that you can so you canbe healthy.

(05:27):
For me after I got my blood workdone.
I need to take some morevitamin C, I need to take some
more fiber.
So those are the things I'mtaking.
So, once again, the secondthing you need to do is to be
sure to hydrate.
Thirdly, I would encourage youto incorporate some type of
physical activity.
I have a treadmill here at homethat's right in front of the TV

(05:48):
.
On most mornings I get up, Iput on a basketball game from
the night before and I get somewalking in.
That really gets me going.
It honestly lifts my mood andafter working out I just feel so
accomplished.
So you know if I have hydrated,I have spent time with the Lord
and I got to work out again.
You can't tell me nothing.
I'm on top of the world, walking out the door.

(06:10):
Now I understand that everyperson listening to this, you
have a different schedule, soplease take all the info that I
give you today and personalizeit, contextualize it and make it
work for you.
And personalize it,contextualize it and make it
work for you.
If you are short on time, youcan do something quick.
It don't have to be an entireone hour workout.
You can go for a brief walk.

(06:31):
That way you get some fresh airand you get some sunlight, or
you can do some pushups or somesquats and go on about your day.
Exercise is crucial because itboosts your endorphins and it
boosts your energy levels, andthe key is consistency in
finding an activity that youenjoy.
So get some type of physicalactivity in in the morning.

(06:53):
The fourth component of aneffective morning routine is all
about your, your daily goals.
In the morning, take a fewminutes to review your goals and
your priorities for the day.
You can use a planner.
You can use your note app onyour phone and just jot down
your to-do list.
I keep a note on my phone of myto-do list, my daily to-do list

(07:14):
.
I have about five or so thingsI want to do.
I have too many and you don'tknow what to focus on, but I
have about five or so things onmy to do list that I really want
to get done and I review thoseso I can really just once again
set the tone for the day and getme focused and move in the
right direction.
So for me, spending time withGod and working out they are

(07:34):
always on my to do list daily, more so spending time with God
than working out, becauseworking out at least one rest
day or two.
But by setting clear intentions, you can be focused and
organized.
For example, my to do listtoday was to take the garbage
out to get a workout in, spendtime with the Lord, to record a

(07:55):
podcast, and then it was acouple more errands, but I
reviewed those goals at thebeginning of the day and that
set me in the right directionand kept me focused on the
priority for the day.
Now, the fifth component of asuccessful and effective morning
routine is personal development.
Dedicate some time to personalgrowth.

(08:16):
This could be reading a book,it could be listening to a
podcast, it could be learningsomething new.
Even if it's just 10 or 15minutes, this can be beneficial
to continuous learning and selfimprovement.
And, once again, if you areshort on time, maybe you can
listen to a podcast while you doyour workout, or you can listen

(08:38):
to a podcast or a TED talkduring your commute.
So, but I would encourage youto do this.
Choose material that willinspire you and motivate you,
all right.
So, whether it's a book, apodcast or a TED talk, spend
some time in personal growth andenriching your mind.
Personally, I like to listen toa podcast on my way to work.

(09:01):
This is stimulate my mind andto keep growing.
So, all in all, I want you tofeed your brain and keep growing
, my friend.
So these are the top fivecomponents to a successful and
productive morning routine.
Number one spending time withthe Lord.
Number two hydrating.
Number three exercising.

(09:22):
Number four setting andreviewing your goals for the
Lord.
Number two hydrating.
Number three exercising.
Number four setting andreviewing your goals for the day
.
Number five investing time inpersonal development.
And let me keep it real righthere If you only have time for
one thing in the morning, Iwould encourage you to spend
some time with the Lord.

(09:42):
Give him the first fruits ofyour day at the church, say amen
.
And before I move on, let melet me say this the key to a
morning routine it really startsthe night before.
So I want to briefly talk aboutnighttime routines before I
conclude.
Not only should you start yourday off with the Lord, I believe

(10:06):
you should end your day withhim as well.
Even though I spend time withthe Lord in the mornings before
I go to bed, I still kneel downeach night to tell God thank you
, thank you for another day oflife.
Thank you for your mercy, thankyou for your grace.
I could go on and on, but he'sworthy of that thanksgiving and
he's worthy of that praise.
And to take it a step further,I would encourage you to develop

(10:28):
a nightly habit of listing outthe blessings as a way to close
the day with thanksgiving, andthis aligns with 1 Thessalonians
5, 18.
Give thanks in allcircumstances, for this is the
will of God in Christ Jesus foryou.
God's will for your life is tobe grateful and to give him

(10:49):
thanks.
It could be something as simpleas Lord and I want to use the
word simple Lord.
Thank you for another day oflife.
Thank you for your protectionon my commute to work.
Let me say it like this If Ihad 10,000 tongues, it wouldn't
be enough to give God the praise, the glory, the honor and
thanksgiving that is due hisname.
So I said all that to say thismake sure you give God praise

(11:14):
and express gratitude andexpress your thanksgiving to God
.
So a key component of anighttime routine is to spend it
with the Lord and acknowledgehim.
Secondly, the nighttime is alsoa good time to celebrate wins.
This could look like listen outthe three things that you
accomplish that day.
In other words, did I get agood workout in that day?

(11:36):
I'm going to celebrate that.
Did I knock some things off myto do list?
I'm going to celebrate that.
All right, you are worthcelebrating.
Another crucially importantaspect to an effective and
successful night routine is toput everything in its place.
I can testify to this.

(11:57):
My mornings go so much moresmoothly when I put my keys, my
wallet, my gym bag, my work bagand my clothes for the day all
in their proper places before Igo to bed.
So when I wake up the next day,I don't have to look for my
keys I already know where theyare.

(12:18):
I don't have to look for mywallet I already know where it
is.
I don't have to pick out anoutfit.
I already did that last night.
Last night, I set myself up forsuccess this morning and I would
tell you this because mymornings will be very hectic if
I didn't do the proper things atnight.

(12:38):
I said all of that to say thisa good night time routine will
set your morning up for successand with that morning routine,
it will set the tone for therest of the day to be effective,
to be efficient and have asuccessful day.
And, lastly, I would encourageyou to say I love you.

(12:59):
That's something that I didwhen I was growing up in my
parents' house.
I mean, before we went to bed,we all would just, you know, say
goodnight love you, share akiss my mom, my dad, my sister
and now I do that in my homehere with my wife.
No matter, you know, if we gotinto an argument that day, okay,
we still go say goodnight loveyou.
If it was just a regular, normal day, we still go say

(13:20):
goodnight love you.
So I want you to practicesaying I love you before you go
to bed.
Just create that culture oflove in your home.
So your nighttime routine shouldconsist of thanking God,
celebrating the wins for the day, putting everything in its
proper place and saying I loveyou.
And you may want to add morethings, depending on what you

(13:42):
need in this current season.
You may want to stretch, youmay want to read, you may want
to take a bubble bath, you maywant to do a self-care routine.
All that is good, but I'm justsharing you what's been working
for me in this season.
So, as it relates to both amorning routine and a night
routine.
It's important to stay flexible,be willing to adjust, because

(14:06):
life happens, some days won't goas planned, some nights won't
go as planned, and that's OK.
So be kind to yourself andadjust as needed, without giving
up on your routine entirely.
Flexibility is the key to longterm success.
So what this means is like onemorning I may prioritize

(14:28):
exercise, another morning I mayprioritize personal development,
and that's OK.
But please remember topersonalize your routine.
Yes, I share some things forresearch.
Yes, I share some things frommy personal experience, but take
these things, pray over themand develop and do what works
for you, and no matter what youadd in or what you take out,

(14:56):
please spend time with the Lord, because the best morning
routine and the best nightroutine is the one that fits
your lifestyle and fits yourcurrent season.
So here's some tips forcustomizing your routine.
Number one assess your needs.
Identify what you want toachieve with your routines in
the morning and at night, whether it's increased
productivity, whether it'sbetter health, personal growth.
Tailor your activities tosupport these goals.

(15:16):
God saw fit to give you anotheryear, so make the most of this
year.
Spend your time wisely and, inregards to whatever time
constraints you may have.
Just consider how much time, realistically, that you have in
the morning, because even ashort routine can be effective
if it's well planned.

(15:37):
So please access your needs forthis current season in your
life.
Secondly, before I conclude,experiment.
This is good old trial anderror.
Try some different activitiesand see what works best for you.
It makes it take some time tofind the perfect combination.
So be patient, be flexible andbe open to adjustments and mix

(15:58):
it up from time to time.
Incorporate a mix of physical, mental and emotional activities
that can keep your routinebalanced, because my my morning
routine looks different in thewinter than it does in the
spring.
For example, when it's winterI'm going to get on a treadmill,
but when the spring and the sunis out, I'm going to go outside

(16:19):
as my form of working out.
Here's just some extra tipsspecifically for the morning
routine portion.
Avoid the snooze button.
Just get up.
Be willing to go to bed earlierso you can wake up earlier, so
you can have a productivemorning.
So a good nighttime routine canset your morning up well and a

(16:42):
good morning routine can set thetone for a productive and
effective day.
The goal is to create a routinethat works for you and helps
you to start your day withpurpose and end your day with
purpose, thus helping you to useyour time wisely.
Remember Ephesians, chapterfive, verse 15 and 16.
Look carefully, then, how youwalk, not as to unwise, but as

(17:07):
wise, making the best use of thetime, because the days are evil
.
And that would do it for today.
Until next time I want you togo.
Be all that God has called youto be you.
