Addiction involves the lie one tells oneself, to further an agenda where the end result is premature death. Addiction is based on lies. Fact is no lie can last forever, it must be supported by additional lies. Thus addiction and its lies rise to the level where its needs supersede bathing, food, and self-esteem. This self-deception changes the internal neural pathways in the brain, thus satisfying the definition of disease. The only remedy for any lie is truth. God is truth. With addiction, recovery begins with the truth that comes from God. Recovery demands a spiritual awakening. Recovery depends upon a power greater than ourselves that is able and willing to save us from ourselves. Addiction is self-deception.
Recovery is a process of decisions.
