Discover the transformative power of godly wisdom as we navigate life's complexities with divine insight. This episode is an enlightening journey through the teachings of Proverbs and the radical wisdom of Jesus, especially His Sermon on the Mount. We examine the stark contrasts between earthly wisdom that can lead us astray and the heavenly wisdom that steers us towards a life that honors God and fosters genuine love and respect for others. By adopting the principles Jesus laid down for loving even our enemies and praying for those who persecute us, we illuminate a path that reflects our heavenly Father's heart.

Embark on a practical exploration of cultivating godly wisdom in our daily lives. Engage with the Bible, foster fellowship among believers, and seek the company of spiritually mature individuals to grow in understanding and righteousness. As your host, I share insights into how the exemplary life of Jesus serves as our ultimate guide and how God's promises assure us wisdom when we find ourselves lacking. Plus, get a sneak peek at my daily podcast, 'Wisdom for the Day', where you can immerse yourself in Proverbs and gain a comprehensive understanding of this guiding book over the course of a year. I know some of y'all can't wait a week to hear from
me, so I'm going to startpreparing some little short
things to just throw out duringthe week, just to give you
something else to listen to,something else to contemplate,
something else to study.
Nothing big, nothing deepShould be fairly short.

Enjoy, see.
Ya, I have a question.

(00:58):
What is godly wisdom?
You know, in the differentaspects of our life, like our
homes and our workplaces and ourrelationships, we come across
situations that require wisdomso we can navigate them
successfully.
As Christians, we have accessto God's wisdom and that's what
we should actively seek.
The book of Proverbs, particularly the book of

(01:19):
Proverbs, emphasizes theimportance of pursuing wisdom as
if it were a valuable treasureProverbs 3, 13 through 18,
proverbs 4, 4 through 9, andProverbs 16, verse 16.
It's crucial for us to seekGod's wisdom because it may

(01:39):
differ from worldly wisdom thatsurrounds us.
Worldly wisdom usuallyencourages us to prioritize our
own needs and desires.
Now, although this might appearto be the smartest or most
desirable choice, the wisdom ofthe world is foolishness in
God's sight.
1 Corinthians 3.19.
God's wisdom, on the other hand, invites us to a higher

(02:04):
standard and guides us inadvancing his kingdom.
1 John 2.15 and 17,.
Galatians 2.20.
Choosing godly wisdom leads usto live a righteous life that
honors God and treats otherswith the same love and respect
that he shows them, treatsothers with the same love and

(02:25):
respect that he shows them.
Throughout the life of Jesus, while he was here on earth, he
exemplified honoring anddignifying others, including
those who may not have deservedit.
In the Sermon on the Mount fromMatthew 5-7, jesus provided
countercultural wisdom.
He instructed his followers tolove their enemies and to pray

(02:46):
for those who persecute them, and by doing so they'd resemble
their heavenly Father, whoshowers blessings upon both the
righteous and the unrighteous.
That's from Matthew 5, 43through 45.
Now God promises to grant uswisdom that we lack.
James 1.5 states and in thesame way, proverbs 2.6 also says

(03:17):
the same thing that wisdomcomes from God.
James 3.13-17 paints a starkcontrast between godly and
ungodly wisdom.
Who is wise and understandingamong you by his good conduct?
Let him show you his works inthe meekness of wisdom.
But if you have bitter jealousyand selfish ambition in your

(03:40):
hearts.
Do not boast and be false tothe truth.
Ambition in your hearts.
Do not boast and be false tothe truth.
This is not the wisdom thatcomes down from above, but is
earthly, unspiritual, demonic.
For where jealousy and selfishambition exist, there will be
disorder in every vile practice.
But the wisdom from above isfirst pure, then peaceable,

(04:02):
gentle, open to reason, full ofmercy, meekness, purity and an
abundance of positive qualities.
On the contrary, ungodly wisdomis driven by selfishness and
bitterness and jealousies.

(04:23):
So how can we cultivate godlywisdom?
Hmm, one way is by studying theBible and learning from its
wisdom and instruction Psalm 119, 98-100, psalm 130, psalm 169.

(04:50):
Additionally, we can grow ingodly wisdom through mutual
encouragement and fellowshipwith fellow believers in Jesus
and by selecting wise companionsProverbs 13.20.
Lastly, by observing the livesof spiritually mature

(05:12):
individuals who exemplify godlywisdom, we can learn from their
example and strive to imitateChrist.
1 Corinthians, 4.16 and 11.1.
