In this episode, I have a heart-to-heart conversation w/my sweet friend & soul-sister, Kenne-Anne, about self-worth, self-acceptance, authenticity, & the gradual process of self-discovery. She spent her teens & early 20’s in depression following her father’s death & felt completely isolated & alone. After looking for love & her self-worth outside of herself, putting on masks for years to show up how she was ‘expected’ to show up, she now knows her worth, that she’s worth loving, & she loves herself. Kenne-Anne shares how her authenticity came gradually through healthy relationships, self-love, & allowing the darkness to nourish her, & that what she knows for sure, is that her self-worth is determined by her alone. Kenne-Anne is a big lover of life, she shines her light bright, & she finds the gift & the joy in all things.

Take Aways:

1.    When you feel things are dark, consider yourself being buried like a seed. Allow the darkness to nourish you like the soil nourishes the seed in the darkness for it to germinate & grow

2.    We are never alone in any situation, the exact circumstances of what we’re going through may be different, but we are never alone

3.    Screw everybody’s opinion, it only matters what you think

4.    Authenticity comes gradually through self-discovery, self-love, self-acceptance, & healthy relationships, including the one with yourself

5.    Your self-worth is determined by YOU & is NOT negotiable

6.    Nothing is permanent. There are peaks and valleys and flat land through life. This too shall pass

7.    Authenticity is accepting ourselves. In order to start accepting yourself, first realize that you don’t, then start by consciously tweaking your self-talk, learn to laugh at yourself, & incorporate the words “and that’s ok”

8.    Look at yourself in the mirror & say to yourself “I love you just as you are”. It might feel uncomfortable or ridiculous at first but then it will feel good

9.    The world does not know how we would like to be seen in it, the world sees us as we are. The world wants us to be who we are, & the world needs us to be who we are.

10. Learning to be present comes from learning to be still. Press the pause button on life, slow down, & let yourself rest. Learn to sit and be still

11. Allow the ebbs & flows of life & enjoy the journey
