In this episode, I chat with Shauna B, someone whom I deeply respect and admire. The wisdom, awareness, strength, and emotional maturity this woman had at such a young age is so impressive and fascinating to me. She pushed boundaries to break family patterns by paying attention to what she needed instead of doing what others thought she “should do”. With an addict parent, she had to carry more than a kid should have to, but it didn’t make her bitter, instead she had an open heart and danced with the responsibility. Shauna is a single mom of 3 kids, a life coach for moms, and an IR Technologist. She is an adventure seeker who loves helping others and starting the ripple for being our best selves and filling ourselves up first. Her love, compassion, and empathy for her family has guided her throughout her life.
Take Aways:
1. You can do anything you put our mind to & it’s never too late to change things
2. Dance with your responsibilities rather than thinking of them as a burden
3. What can you do in this moment, every moment, to make yourself happy?
4. Balance things out as a family rather than having everything on your shoulders as a mom or dad or as the parents. It makes your kids feel like they matter & are contributing
5. Setting boundaries can be so scary because we think we’re going to lose people we love & who are important to us, but they are needed & so important for us & them, so implement them. You’ll be surprised when people respect them
6. Feel & process your emotions so they aren’t bottled up, but don’t stay in the sad & negative emotions for too long, because life isn’t supposed to feel bad
7. Choose yourself & stay committed
8. You are the one that is living your life. Nobody is making the decisions for you. No one is going to make the memories you want to make. Your decisions & choices are what frames the chapters in your journey
9. If you want control & you want your power back & you want to truly live life & not be on the hamster wheel, you’re gonna have to get uncomfortable to have more joy & bliss on the other side
10. Ask yourself, what can I do right now to make myself happy? What is the light in the situation? What is the lesson? What do I truly want? And then keep that promise to yourself. Ultimately, you are in control of your result
