In this episode, Rebecca Gillis, who spent decades stuck in addiction, trauma, false beliefs, and low self-esteem – believing it was just too late for her – shares so openly and vulnerably about her story with food, alcohol, drugs, and sex. She tells us how deep inner child work, EFT Tapping, and reconnecting with the part of her that she abandoned for so many years, has helped her develop a trust and forgiveness with herself, and to heal. Rebecca shares that the most important part of her recovery over the last 9 years has been about the significantly important connection with her inner child, and how when she gets out of her own way of trying to manage and control everything and just allows her higher-self to guide that, everything gets easier.

Take Aways:

1.    EFT Tapping connects you with stuck emotions & subconscious blockers & releases them

2.    Your inner child has their own wisdom around how to play, take chances, & enjoy things. They know what you truly love & what you’re meant to be doing. Listen to them, it builds trust & connection with yourself

3.    The more you depend on yourself in a healthy way, the less you will feel the need to depend on others for what you are responsible for, which is to take care of yourself

4.    Once you have true connection w/self, let your higher-self guide you, trust your intuition, & move from your head to your heart, all things in life become easier

5.   Acceptance is the key to all problems. Until I can accept every person, place, thing, & circumstance, I’ll find no peace or serenity

6.    Accepting & loving yourself just as you are helps you HEAL

7.    Hoping for forgiveness after we have been horrible to ourselves & feel shame about it is scary. Start by looking in the mirror & saying "I love you" & keep saying it. Trust, forgiveness & respect are all earned so we can’t expect that they will come w/o time & consistency

8.    Take your inner child out for dates & get to know yourself again

9.    There is so much shame around sex, especially for women. Sex should be fun & enjoyable & joyful! There is power in it, in the life force energy in our sexuality & sensuality, w/o it being a power play

10. Borrow other people’s love of you when you are unable to love yourself

11. You might as well be yourself, everyone else is taken. You are most lovable when you get to be yourself, so surround yourself w/people who let you be you. Let others be themselves too

12. Remember the saying “Let it begin with me”? The byproduct of being our most authentic & true selves is most helpful to others
