feeling stuck and what to dowhen we're feeling stuck, and
(00:45):
kind of like a few differentperspective shifts on this
topic.

(01:05):
So let's dive into today'sepisode.
So a little behind the sceneshere, I am recording this
episode.
It's Wednesday morning.
I have my cup of cacao with mehere.
Um, I use or cacao.
I love it.
And I just am like about almostfinished with it.
So I'm feeling really good.
(01:27):
And I'm kind of having a slowday today.
So I'll definitely go in for,you know, a walk later.
I'll be reading a bit.
And I have been reading a bunchlately and I love it.
I remember when I was little andmy Nana would bring me books
from the library, and there wasjust no better feeling than
(01:47):
sitting with her snuggled up onthe back porch and getting lost
in a book.
And for that reason, I reallywant like a I call it like a
Florida porch, but it'sbasically a screened-in porch.
I really want one of those.
It's just like so nice.
But anyway, I just finished uhreading Seven Husbands of Evelyn
Hugo.
It's a fiction book.
(02:08):
Highly recommend if you're intothose.
And it might be my favorite bookof the year so far.
Although there are more monthsto go, so that might change, of
course.
But I think what I really likedabout it the most was kind of
this chip on Evelyn's shoulder, the main character, which might
sound odd, but I think it ishealthy for us to have some
(02:32):
examples of other optionsoutside of, you know, good girl
syndrome or people pleasing.
And so I just really loved likeher attitude, like you go girl.
And another book that I'm lovingthat I also highly recommend
that is not that is nonfiction,it's self-help.
It's called uh It Begins WithYou by Gillian Turecki.
(02:56):
And I love this book so muchbecause it really just brings
you right back to yourself.
It is about navigating romanticrelationships, but I think a lot
of it applies to platonicrelationships as well, and just
really applies to like everyfacet of life.
I think that, you know, it talksa little bit about the inner
(03:17):
child, it talks aboutrelationships with our parents,
communication, boundaries,codependency.
It's a really easy to digestbook.
It's not very wordy, which Ilove.
And I don't usually readself-help books all the way
through.
I might like read a chapter, putit down, pick it up again when
it speaks to me.
But this book I could not putdown.
(03:39):
I just I really thought it wasgreat.
It was so simple, and it'ssomething that I've been even
like using in my work withclients.
So definitely gonna be on my topfive reads for this year, but
that is another thing that I'vebeen enjoying.
So, two things that areinspiring me right now.
The first is creating art.
So I've been painting a bunch,and I recently took a drawing
(04:04):
class a few weeks ago, and I'mtaking another one starting next
week.
So it's just been really fun.
I've been having fun with it,growing in a new way, letting
myself be imperfect.
I'm so much not a painter by anymeans, but yeah, creating new
things, and it's been reallynice.
(04:24):
And I'm also toying around withthe idea of creating some sort
of vlog on YouTube.
I think it would be fun tocreate some long-form content,
and I think that's also why Ilove the podcast so much because
I can, you know, speak andcreate, and I don't have to
worry about like a one-minutetimer running out, or I don't
(04:44):
have to worry about it likesounding a certain way or
looking a certain way.
It's like my own little worldover here in the podcast.
So I think creating maybe somevlogs could be fun.
Uh, so that we'll see whathappens.
I don't know.
But those are a few lifeupdates, a few behind-the-scenes
things that I'm really enjoyingright now, and that is what I
(05:06):
have for you.
So let's dive into today'stopic.
I'm sharing some perspectiveshifts with you around the
feeling of stuckness.
And we've all been there, myselfincluded.
And what's great about it isthat we're never actually really
stuck.
It feels so real in the moment.
(05:29):
It feels like maybe we're tryingeverything, no matter how much
we think or plan, we just likecan't move forward.
And when especially when we'rereally like in it, things on the
outside can appear that we don'thave a choice or that again,
things will like never change.
But that is not the case.
That is not, in fact, true.
(05:51):
And these are some perspectives, some tools that I'm gonna share
with you that are gonna bereally helpful um when it comes
to navigating this feeling.
So the first is to pause.
So pause and remember that youare never truly stuck.
Stuckness and that feeling oftencomes from either fear or
(06:14):
overwhelm.
It is a state, an emotionalstate, a feeling, and you have
full space and autonomy tochange, to pivot, to grow in a
new way, to shift.
And so the first thing is reallyreminding yourself okay, this is
(06:34):
a feeling, this is temporary, let's pause.
What can we do from here?
The second is to shift yourstate.
So oftentimes our body andmovement can change how we feel.
So this is like your opportunityto like use your tools, right?
Like use the tools that we'velearned on the podcast here.
(06:56):
You'll use the tools from yourtoolkit, add to your toolkit.
But this is like use your tools, you know, go for a walk.
You can dance it out if that'syour thing.
You can take a shower to shiftyour state.
You can call a friend, you canchange your environment, like
physically get up from where youare and go to a different place.
(07:17):
And notice how that will shifthow you're feeling.
That's going to shift how youfeel in your body, that's going
to shift how you're feeling inthe mind.
And that in itself will help tomove through this feeling of
stuckness.
The third is to ask yourself,uh, what are you really needing
right now?
(07:37):
So feeling stuck can often maskother things that maybe we're
not seeing.
So it can be kind of thisfeeling of stuckness is coming
to the surface because reallywe're feeling exhausted or a
fear of failure, or a desire togrow or pivot in a new
direction.
And so there's some uhhesitation there.
(08:01):
And can you turn inwards towardsyourself instead of turning away
from yourself?
And see yourself withcompassion, see yourself with uh
understanding, with curiosityinstead of judgment, because
oftentimes this pause and thismoment can feel unsettling, it
(08:23):
can feel scary, and so turntowards yourself with an open
heart, with compassion, andasking, what are you really
needing right now?
And then number four is take onetiny action.
So this doesn't have to be ahuge, huge thing.
(08:44):
It can even build on number two, where it was uh shifting your
state.
Take one tiny action.
So when you are feeling stuck,it's not always about the big
thing that is going to create ashift.
It can be one small thing, aphone call, a practice, five
minutes of breath work, scheduling an appointment, like
(09:06):
taking care of yourself.
A few weeks ago, I wasexperiencing this, and I just
had this moment where Iremembered and I was like, oh
wait, I have so many otheroptions right now than this
feeling that I'm feeling.
And I know exactly how to get tothose better feeling thoughts.
Like I have those tools, I havethat information.
(09:29):
And it's so, it's so funny howthese things can happen.
Like this feeling can just comein, and it's like taking that
one small action will bring moreclarity and that will create
momentum, and that will bringyou closer to more understanding
around either what's coming upfor you and/or a better feeling
(09:51):
thought, a better feeling, abetter thinking, you know,
whatever it might be.
But taking one tiny action isreally helpful and will create
that momentum.
And then the last perspectivetool thing that I will share
with you is that remindingyourself and knowing that you
are not behind, quote unquote.
(10:11):
So feelings of stuckness, it'slike we're in that freeze
response.
Our nervous system is like, ugh,you know, overwhelmed, feeling
fear, and that can causecomparison because we're looking
outwards, like our perspectiveand our view is not serving us,
right?
So it's it's when oftentimesthis feeling can cause some
(10:36):
comparison feelings.
What's actually happening isthat this feeling is often
leading to a breakthrough, it'sleading to a change, growth, a
pivot.
So something new is forming, andright before something new is
forming, our nervous system canbe like, oh, frozen, freeze,
stuck, uh-uh, uh.
(10:58):
And we can also be gentle withourselves through this process.
We can be honest with ourselves,we can trust it, and that's
really what it's an opportunityfor trusting yourself, knowing
that you are never truly stuck.
There's no such thing as beingbehind, and it is it is uh an
(11:19):
illusion that's happening.
So coming back to this episodein that moment, if you're
feeling any kind of stuckness, any kind of need to pause and
shift, listening to these fivesteps and really walking
yourself through this processwith trust and gentleness and
compassion.
All right, and that is what wehave for today's episode.
