How can we manage tourism responsibly? How can we ensure that the residents of the places we visit are taken care of? In this episode, Christine sits down with a kindred spirit: Adrienne Lee.  Adrienne is the Director of Global Impact at Tourism Cares and has so much incredible information to share about building infrastructure and the ways the communities we travel to can be supported.

Christine and Adrienne talk about the ways in which tourism can allow something to live and continue beyond the purpose of simply meeting travelers' needs.

Did you know that women funnel 90% of their income back into their communities and families? Adrienne and Christine also talk about how elevating gender equality is one of the most effective ways to reduce extreme poverty. The tour industry employs more women than men, and it's time to have women's voices at the helm of leadership. Tourism doesn't have to be extractive or depleting; it can nourish the communities where it occurs, and women can be in the positions of facilitation.
