📣calling all conscious Women ready to evolve BEYOND alcohol and the need to seek alteration.

We look at a new relationship to alcohol as an empowered change that meets our growing needs as women on our journey of awakening.

Our authenticity in every moment is a gateway into rewilding and reconnecting with the divine feminine.

Alcohol is becoming less of a desired way to engage and connect to self and in community.

However, cultural narratives, habit and conditioning can make this a challenge to stay in alignment to your growing awareness of self and values.

This can leave you feeling shameful and confused about the next best step. Create a new frequency this spring break.

Looking to make the most of your spring break? In this 2-week workshop series, discover how to enjoy your downtime without relying on alcohol and learn mindfulness practices to rejuvenate your mind.

Spring break is the perfect time to unwind and create lasting memories with your loved ones. But too often, we rely on alcohol to help us relax and enjoy the moment. This can lead to regrets, missed opportunities, and a less-than-optimal vacation experience.

This workshop is designed to help you find true enjoyment in your spring break without resorting to alcohol. We'll start by exploring your beliefs around drinking, and then we'll dive into mindfulness practices that will help you stay present and focused throughout your vacation.

Whether you're planning a staycation or a trip to the beach, I will teach you the tools you need to make the most of your downtime. You'll learn how to go for a hike, catch up on your reading, and truly be present with your loved ones, all while feeling relaxed, rejuvenated, and ready for anything.

So if you're ready to throw a better spring break than you've ever had before, I invite you to join me on this exciting journey. Let's make this the best vacation yet!

area, you just can't figure outyou are in the right place. Hi,
my name is Mary Wagstaff. I'm aHolistic alcohol coach who ended

(00:23):
days or ever making excuses. NowI help powerful women just like
you eliminate their desire todrink on their own terms. In
this podcast, we will explorethe revolutionary approach of my
proven five shifts process thatgets alcohol out of your way by
breaking all of the rules, andthe profound experience that it

(00:43):
is to rediscover who you are onthe other side of alcohol. I am
so thrilled to be your guide.
Welcome to your journey ofawakening. Welcome back to the
show my beautiful listeners, I'mthrilled you're here. Welcome to
this bonus episode. So if youare listening to this after
March 2023, don't worry, there'ssomething in here for you. But

(01:06):
this is to invite you to a liveworkshop that I'm putting out.
I'm so excited, I haven't doneanything like this in a really
long time, I would absolutelylove to share space with you.
This event was inspired by arecent trip that I had to
Guatemala with my family, I kindof briefly mentioned it on the

(01:27):
show. So we usually like to goto Mexico, I love travel, I was
a huge I've been a big travelerand adventurer like in the
States and in our you know, abroad for a long time pre and
post goos. So I am an expert onknowing what my life was like
when I was traveling in allsorts of different scenarios

(01:49):
with and without my familybeforehand. And since then, and
I can't tell you the dramaticshift in the experience of you
know, the biggest thing? Well, there's a few big things. The
first thing is safety, I have tosay that and excuse me, I was
just writing a bunch of emailsto invite people to this

(02:10):
workshop. So let me just tellyou really quick, it's March,
Tuesday, March 14, and March21 2023, at 11am Pacific Time
register. And if you can't makeit free, you will get the
replay. And this is informationthat you absolutely want.
Because our vacation time, ourspring break. Summer is right
around the corner, you want thisto be the best time, right? You

(02:33):
don't have to pay to play. Sothere is a dark side to alcohol.
Right? You are here we are allhere because there is a negative
part to it. Right. And I don'tfocus on that in my coaching.
And I don't really focus on thatso much in the podcast, because
what I have found, and what Iknow about mindset work is that

(02:53):
when we focus on what's notworking, it doesn't create the
fuel that we need to inspirechange and to look forward to
look forward to new possibilityright. And we don't have to pay
for the past. And this is one ofthe biggest downfalls I feel
like in the recovery community.

(03:14):
And maybe that's just because ofsome of the, you know, there,
there's some influences of like, you know, there is karma is
really about what how we, how wewhat we think is what we
project, right, and that's whatwe get back. That's really what
karma is, karma is not aboutyour you don't have to pay for

(03:37):
your deeds, right. That's notwhat that's about, that's about
if you're always looking on thenegative side of things, your
life is good, your life is gonnalife and the universe are gonna
project that right back to you, you're gonna get what you asked
for it no matter if it'spositive or negative. So let's
start to tell a better story.
And that's the story that Ichoose to tell with alcohol
because it's what I've seen, really shifts us from that, that

(03:58):
social, that socializedcommentary that drinking is
normal, and quitting is bad.
Like if I was going to put it inits most basic terms are like if
you have to stop drinking, something's wrong with you. But
if you've been listening to theshow, you know that it's not
that at all, it's an empoweredchoice, right? And that actually

(04:19):
not drinking might not be quoteunquote, normal. Normal is just
a regular occurrence, but it'snatural. It is natural. It is
the natural way you were borninto this world. You weren't
born into this world on altered, right that is based on
conditioning your need forconditioning based on the way
that you know maybe yourresilience and coping are things

(04:41):
that it could have that maybecircumstances that happened to
you. So I digress. So I don'ttalk about that piece a lot
because it's just not as usefulbut but there is a neutral
reality that you can come towhich is a lot of shitty stuff
has happened when you'redrinking and a lot of shady
stuff has happened after an hada huge impact of negative

(05:01):
consequences on your life, yoursleeping, your health, your
relationships, your finances, your career choices, your
confidence, your mental health, your anxiety, your depression,
right? And then there's someother things, and I shared this
in an email, if you're not on mynewsletter, you definitely need
to get on there. So you can alsoget this, you know, be be in the
No, right. But it's has just asmuch value as the show does.

(05:26):
There's,but like, I've done a lot of
stuff that I feel terrible aboutways that I've put my, my infant
son in places that weren't safe, right ways that I couldn't take
care of him. And I can't tellyou the biggest impact that all
my clients have Is there, likeI'm ready for anything. Now.
There I can take my children andmyself to the emergency room at

(05:46):
any time of the day, I can swimout in the ocean and help and
rescue someone, I can organize agroup and a natural disaster, I
don't need to run for thiscrutch, because I feel like I
can't handle it. I'll neverforget just the silliest things
happening, like going to afamily reunion and joking around

(06:07):
with my cousins and my uncleabout like, oh my gosh, like we
have to hang out with like thisother part of the family and
like taking Xanax and likedrinking. And it was just so it
just wasn't true. Right? It wasit was just a narrative that I
had fallen in a habit of. Andthen of course, what happens is
like, I'm out of alignment withmy values and the way I want to

(06:29):
show up to engage with everyoneand to get to know everyone,
right. And so when we tellourselves that was narratives of
like my or in laws, or you know, the kids are going to be home or
whatever it is. And that's whatwe're going to talk about how to
shift those narratives and theway you're viewing things, and
the shift between your intentionand your expectation, which I

(06:53):
just spoke of, but it's going tobe in a practice, it's going to
be examples and real practicalapplications that you're going
to be able to take with you. Andthat is why I'm doing this bonus
episode, because I don't wantyou to miss it. And it also is
going to help you reshape thenarrative of your self concept.
When we show up in the same roomwith others who are wanting to

(07:16):
create change. I work withconscious women who are evolving
their their mindset, and theirself concept and awakening
outside of the box outside ofstigma outside of old paradigms,
right? So there, we live in thisand whether it's, you know, like

(07:37):
Catholic guilt, I don't know.
And this isn't say, you know, Imean, I, this isn't saying
anything wrong with Catholics, like I grew up in a Catholic
home and I, you know, practice alot of teachings from that
religion. But there is like thissense of like, we have to pay
for the past. And thatnarrative, because I've worked

(07:58):
with people in recovery, and 12Step communities who hold on to
that so tight, and it's such adetriment to moving forward,
it's just not useful. Andfrankly, it's just not true. You
don't have to pay for the past, you get to decide what you want
to do. And we work withemotional intimacy and emotional
intelligence, and learning howto become your own best

(08:21):
advocate. So that you canrewrite that story, because I've
had to forgive myself and moveforward and and know that the
only way I can change the pastis by changing the future,
right? The only way I can havean impact on my family, and help
so that other people don't haveto go through that, right. Like,

(08:44):
how did I get home last night?
Right, like, most people havehad that experience where they
their memories are missing fromthe night before. Right. And you
know, that might be hard toadmit, but it's just the facts.
And it happens to people thatdrink. Most people that drink
and especially as you get older, that tendency becomes more
frequent. And the good news is,is like you can have a blast

(09:09):
alcohol free, because there's99% of the rest of your
experience. But your brain isonly simply focused on what
you're not doing. And so to takethat shift of perspective, you
have to learn how to take a stepback. And that's what I'm so

(09:30):
excited to teach you. And sowhen you put yourself in that
room, it's like I'munapologetically claiming that
this is an empowered choice. AndI can't tell you, everyone wants
this everyone wants to drinkless whether or not they admit
it regular drinkers all want todrink less. That's just the way
it is and I that is that is likemy I will live and die by that.

(09:53):
So whether or not you are areready to say forever because the
F word is not part of myprogram. But most people that
are here are really done anddon't want to give alcohol any
more of their time or theirtheir attention. And that's
really the point. It's like, ifwe want to continue to root for

(10:15):
alcohol and to justify alcohol, that also makes it much harder.
Instead of letting me focus oncentering me and all of the
reasons that I all of theproblems I think alcohol is
solving for, and then alcoholjust fades into the background
is not even unnecessary anymore, right? When you learn how to do
the other things on your own, alcohol becomes a moot point. So

(10:38):
if you're holding on to thatthere's like still so much space
for growth, then that's reallyhow I see it. So the safety
piece, respecting othercultures, respecting other
people, you know, not justshowing up Mexico, Mexico spring
break, like you own the place, right? Like there's there's

(10:59):
there's cultural implications ofwhere we're traveling to
different languages that wemight want to be able to engage
with other people in a way thatfeels respectful and you know,
in like, you're creatingconnections with different
people, right? There's moremoney to spend on, on the
excursions that you've plannedon really enjoying amazing

(11:23):
dinners. Or, you know, say yoursay you're going camping and you
want to do some hiking, and youwant to do some kayaking, and
you want to do some adventures, but you're, you are so hungover
and anxious the next day thatyou don't even trust yourself in
a boat that has some waves likeI've been there. I've been out
on the river before and feltlike, oh my gosh, this is like a

(11:44):
little bit scary, right? Can Ieven swim to shore being present
for the first memories of Emmetlost his first tooth on a water
taxi on Valentine's Day on LakeAtlanta in Guatemala, and he was
so excited. The cool thing aboutit was it was the last boat, or
wasn't the last boat. We hadmissed the last boat the last

(12:07):
public boat and I we didn't evenknow we didn't even know there
was like a last time for publicboats. Had I been drinking, I
may have lino had a little bitmore emotions about like, oh my
gosh, oh, we're gonna get back.
And then we rented a privateboat, there was a guy there
ready to take us and I am just, you know, I'm a little hesitant

(12:29):
to make sure that I'm doing theright thing. Like I'm getting on
a boat with a person that's likelegit, right. And of course, we
I just I was able to talk to himand I was able to tap into my
intuition my knowing so that Iknew I was safe taking my little
boy. So we're on this bow, justthe three of us going back and
it's like almost sunset. And um,it's been like wiggling is to

(12:52):
this whole time. And it comesout on the boat. And we told the
boat driver and he was allexcited. And and that will never
ever forget that and I'll neverforget that. And then of course,
the Guatemalan tooth fairy cameand Emmett got like 20 kits
salies. In his little, webrought his like little
butterfly pouch for his that Ihad bought him for when he

(13:14):
starts losing his teeth. And,you know, it was just such a
precious memory. And then, because he was at a school, he
had some extra, we were doingkind of homeschooling. And he
wrote a story about it calledlike last bus, first tooth or
last boat, first tooth. Andthere were just so many memories
of us going to ecstatic danceand having a cacao ceremony and

(13:37):
playing with the other adultsthat were at ecstatic dance. And
then we he made a friend insilence on the dance floor. And
then he saw that guy at a cafeand, you know, he's, um, it's
like, trying to like deal like,he's like this GM dealer the
whole time making friendseverywhere. He went and got
Guatemala with Chipotle, like, think about all these different
flavors of Chipotle. Andeverywhere he went, he was

(13:59):
making friends with mints andChipotle. And I was like, That's
so smart. And everyone loved himfor it. And he would like put
out his display andand it was just so endearing and
so sweet. And those are thekinds of things that don't stick
around. Those are the kinds ofthings that we miss and seem
dollar even seem annoying or putthat away, or why are you doing
that I had, you know, I didn'thave all the patients in the

(14:21):
world all the time. But I had somuch patience for him to have
his own experience to betraveling in, in, you know,
internationally in a place wherethings are much different roads
are cobblestone, there's dogseverywhere. There's these little
Tuk Tuks everywhere. And, youknow, they don't really speak
the lay Emmett and Matthew don'treally speak the language and

(14:42):
we're going to Spanish corndoing all these amazing things.
So I have to be on my game tonavigate that to have the best
time ever and to also not justmake it about me and to feel
amazing enough to go to awomen's circle I went to this
the most beautiful All, it wascalled the Yoni temples as
women's circle. And thenthroughout the rest of my trip I

(15:03):
saw there was only probably like12 of us there, I literally saw
every single other person thatwas at that at some place else
and in the town that we werestaying in. And I made a
connection with a sister onInstagram. And it was very
inspiring for me. And so I wentto yoga a couple other times
while I was on the lake, youknow, by myself, and I got up

(15:26):
early, and I worked while I wasthere, I was able to do that,
because I wasn't checked out, right. There's just there was no
regrets. And then I wrote aboutthis in my newsletter about our
traveling home ended up being athree day excursion because
there was blocks. There was likethese blockades from protesters.
And so we had to take the watertaxi to go get our shuttle and

(15:46):
had to take like the back roadsand Dramamine and and then our
flight was late, leavingGuatemala and running through
security to LA. And then we hada fly over Portland because of a
snowstorm and spend the night inSeattle and we got back to
Portland, the snow the city wascovered in snow, which never
happens. And we were taxiing forlike an hour at em, it's

(16:09):
throwing up like all of thesethings. And the thought that I
had the entire time was it's allpart of the adventure. This is
the moment in front of me,right? This is what Michael
singer teaches so deeply, thisis the moment in front of us
this moment, and then the nextone, and then the next one, and
then the next one. And if we'reconstantly altering it with the
same vibration of alcohol, wemiss on the subtlety of like

(16:32):
this moment painting the pictureof your life of your adventure.
Like it doesn't matter if I'msitting poolside, or in kind of
a shitty hotel at the airporthotel in Seattle Washington's
like, they're just experiencesthat we get to have. And this is
the experience of our life.
Right. So let it be anadventure, come and join me you

(16:54):

there live, I would highlyrecommend Ron being live because

second the first. The first weekis going to be a little bit more
about the mindset work and kindof setting up the structure and
understanding why things are theway they are. And then the

(17:18):
second week is going to be moreabout embodiment and mindfulness
and learning how to chill theeff out. Right because we need
that we all need that. So we'regonna practice that together.
Share this with someone who youknow can use this is for those
who identify as women. And Iwill be there you get we get to
