Today to celebrate the beginning of year four for the podcast and to share my thoughts on aligning with the future version of yourself that is free from alcohol.

As we celebrate this milestone, I want to take a moment to reflect on the journey so far and to thank you for being a part of this amazing community. I am proud of what we have accomplished and I am grateful for the lives that have been changed through this podcast.

My intention for being here is to help you get curious about what it would look like if you spent more time aligning with the future version of yourself that wants alcohol out of the way, that is ready for relief and freedom. I want to encourage you to listen to previous episodes and think about the wise and intuitive part of yourself that already knows what it feels like to be alcohol-free.

I know that there may be some resistance and fear when it comes to giving up alcohol, but I want to remind you that you are already free. The real part of you that is maturing and growing does not want alcohol anymore. However, there may be habits and thoughts that need to change in order for you to fully step into this new reality.

As I step into year four of the podcast, I want to encourage you to reassess your intention and realign with your values and who you are as you change. The question I want you to ask yourself about alcohol is how you can realign with your intention as you change and grow.

To celebrate with me, I would be grateful if you could take a moment to leave a five-star rating and a review on Apple Podcasts. This will help us reach even more people who need to hear this message and support the podcast to remain ad-free.

Thank you again for being a part of this journey and I look forward to continuing to support you on your journey to alcohol freedom.

(00:01):
Do you ever feel like you'reoutgrowing alcohol, that you are
longing for a deeper connectionto life? If alcohol is keeping
you playing small and feels likethe one area, you just can't
figure out you are in the rightplace. Hi, my name is Mary
Wagstaff. I'm a Holistic alcoholcoach who ended a 20 year
relationship to alcohol withoutlabels, counting days or ever

(00:24):
making excuses. Now I helppowerful women just like you
eliminate their desire to drinkon their own terms. In this
podcast, we will explore therevolutionary approach of my
proven five shifts process thatgets alcohol out of your way by
breaking all of the rules, andthe profound experience that it
is to rediscover who you are onthe other side of alcohol. I am

(00:48):
so thrilled to be your guide.
Welcome to your journey ofawakening. Welcome back to the
show my beautiful listeners,it's Mary, I am thrilled that
you're here. If you haven't yet.
Go back and listen to the lasttwo client spotlight episodes.
One was last week with Monica.
And then two weeks, two episodesbefore that, with Barney, this

(01:10):
is where I want you to take yourmind is to see these two very
different perspectives. And foryou to start to get curious
about what it wouldlook like if you spent more time

(01:33):
aligning with the future versionof yourself that wants alcohol
out of the way that is ready forthat relief and that freedom,
then if you spent time thinkingabout the void of alcohol, okay,
so go listen to those andreally, really be in the kind of

(01:56):
dream place of aligning yourselfwith that version of who you
will become. When alcohol is nolonger a problem. Who do you
want to become? That is all upto you. And that is my intention

(02:20):
for being here. We arecelebrating year, the beginning
of year four for the podcast, Iam so proud of you, I am so
proud of me, I can't evenbelieve that it's been that
long. And I don't stop enough atthe VISTA to celebrate. And so

(02:44):
I'm celebrating myself today andall of this content and all of
the lives that have beenchanged. And thank you so much
for being here. And if you wantto celebrate with me a bonus
could be to go to Apple podcastsand leave a five star rating and
a review of your takeaway fromthe show because it really,

(03:05):
really does support thispodcast, ad free getting in
front of so many more peoplethat need to hear this message
because this message is like noother. Right? We're taking this,
I'm taking you to the nextlevel. And there is a part of
you that is already in alignmentwith an alcohol free life. And

(03:27):
that's why I want you to go backand listen to those episodes.
And that is what I want you tothink about every single time
you listen to this show. Thepart of you the wise part of you
that the intuitive part of youthat is already knows, right
like already knows what it'sgoing to feel like when you're
no longer worried about alcoholand we want to amplify that

(03:49):
person and then the fear isgoing to come in. And that Bert
version of you is going to sayyou know what? It's okay. This
is just an opportunity to seewhat else is out there right to
see what does it even feel like?
What does it even feel like todo these things

(04:13):
when alcohols not there? Likethose things, not what it feels
like to be thinking aboutmissing out on alcohol, right?
And that's the difference.
Because if we focus ondeprivation, you're going to
feel deprived, if you focus onthe abundance of everything else
that's going on, right, like theelbow is the 1% in the picture,
then there's 99% Of all theother things going on. When you

(04:36):
focus on that. If that's inalignment with what you want,
then it's going to be amazing, right? And you work through
building your inner resilienceyou work through all of the
stages are getting you closerand closer and closer to the
part of yourself that's alreadyfree. Really, right, you are

(04:59):
already free. It is all of thethoughts and the resistance to
the sensations and theresistance to believing that
it's okay. That I don't wantalcohol anymore. There's been a
few times this week where that'sthe last few weeks where that's
come up where it's like, I haveto be able to give myself

(05:19):
permission to just no longerwant it. Right, even though
there's a part of you. Andthat's a habit, and you can just
be kind of, you know, factualabout it. Like, yeah, it makes
sense that there's someresistance here. But the real me
the real part of me that'smaturing, that's growing, that's
evolving, always doesn't wantalcohol anymore. But there's a

(05:40):
part of me that has created andformed a habit and, but that
will change too, right. And likeMonica talked about that she's
just like, with everything. Witheverything new that we do,
there's always a period oftransition, right? So you don't
like it could be cake can bethat casual. It really, really
can be. And if there's otherthings underneath it, for why

(06:03):
you're drinking that feel morechallenging? Well, we want to
solve those two, right. Andthose are the things that the
version of you that takes care, really wants to do that in a
healthy way, really wants tostep into that place of personal

(06:27):
responsibility. And that's why Itruly believe you're here.
Alcohol freedom is seeking youjust as much as you are seeking
it. So as I stepped into thefourth year of the podcast, and
this, this, you know, beginningof this new year, if you're

(06:47):
listening to this in real time, you know, just as reassessing
what my goal is here, what myintention is, you know, it's
like, anything can become a job,any relationship can just become
what it is, right? Because thehuman habituate so easy. And
we're really doing ourselves adisservice if we're not going

(07:10):
back to, to tap into ourintention, and even re evaluate
and reimagine our intention, right? Because like, I've grown
so much since I've done thepodcast, I've grown so much
since I've been coaching. And I,you know, I Matthew and I did

(07:30):
that this year with ourrelationship where it was
definitely before we had Emmet.
And when we were like young andpartying and hanging out, I
think our intentions were muchdifferent than they are now and
how can it be bigger? How can itbe better? How can it grow into
into something? And really, howcan we realign as we continue to

(07:55):
change? And that's the questionI want you to ask yourself about
alcohol, how can you realignwith your values with your
intention with who you are asyou change? Because the version
of you that started drinking isnot who you are today, you the
same things are not important toyou, I guarantee it, right. But

(08:15):
this one thing just is like thisanchor to the past. And it's not
allowing you to move forward inso many other areas of your
life, where it's like, yourexpectations for other things
are probably just as much ofanchors if this one is because
what changing my relationship toalcohol has done. And what I've

(08:35):
seen it do for all of my clientsis they change their
expectations about everythingelse in their life, and they
take personal responsibility, which has so much freedom in it
right? It's like other thingsother people don't need to do
the job of creating yoursatisfaction for you. And that
is a much freer life, right. Somy intention for being here now

(09:02):
is to inspire you to turn up thevolume on that part of you that
is already aligned with alcoholfreedom because because of all
of the conditioned beliefs andthe chemical and the social, the
social narrative around alcohol.
There's a lot of evidence tosupport keeping alcohol around.

(09:27):
But there is a very wise veryintuitive part of you that knows
like your higher mind that it'snot working. It's not and
something's got to give rightthat's like can taste it that's
already in alignment with thatversion of yourself. And my
goal, my job I feel is tocontinue to trigger your

(09:54):
remembrance. Have that of theinnate part of you, that didn't
need booze that didn't have allthe conditioning that can can
really trust that inner voice.

(10:19):
And even when that feels scary,it's a different type of fear.
When we follow the path of, ofthe self gnosis of our self, and
this is something I strugglewith still in other areas, when
we can follow the path of thisof the self, it's gonna be
different than everyone else's.
And everyone's always like, youknow, I always hear this was

(10:44):
like, but I'm doing it differentthan society like, and it's
like, none of that exists, right? So just like you,
everyone's doing it differentthan everyone else, everyone is
doing it different than everyoneelse, because every one is
unique, right? Some things maylook a little bit more extreme.
But as we, as we grow into thisinformation age, it's just I

(11:05):
just went to like the craziestecstatic dance in the middle of
the jungle. And it was wild, right. And these people were so
excited about being differentwas amazing. Anyway, so. But to
follow that voice that feels alittle scary is also exciting,
versus resisting something thatyou really don't want to be

(11:30):
doing. And it feels scary to sayno, right? It feels like it's,
it feels scary to give yourselfpermission to no longer want it.
But it doesn't like feel good tokeep doing it. Versus following
your own path. There's some fearin there. But there's an

(11:53):
excitement, there's a wanting,there's a knowing there's, it's
like it's a it's, it's lining upright with you with your values.
And so I want you to think aboutthat, I want you to try to
differentiate this week. Andjust notice when you might see
that the difference between yourtruth that feels a little bit

(12:16):
scary, right? Because it's likeyou are doing you, and then not
wanting to do something. But itfeels scary, because it's not
like in the status quo, it feelsscary to say no to that. It's
like, oh, I should want that.

(12:37):
Okay, I want you to see if youcan distinguish that. And
there's probably a bunch ofareas in your life where that's
like that, but it's very strongwith alcohol, very, very strong,
because the alcohol industrysells connection, right? They
sell connection, they even sellconnection to you to yourself.
So my goal is to spark inside ofyou the remembrance of who you

(13:03):
are free from all theconditioned beliefs, and just
know that the alcohol freedom isseeking you, and you do have
everything you need inside ofyou right now, right now, to
start this journey. The reasonthat it helps to be here, and

(13:26):
the reason that it has a systemand the reason that you know,
any learning, educationcoaching, you know, therapy,
whatever it is, the reason thatthat helps, is because a it
expedites your results. B, youcan't see your own brain, when
you're in the middle of it, Istill have thoughts that I think
are totally true. And Matthewhears about all of them.

(13:47):
God bless him. Right? Like youcan't always see your mind. And
it helps practice the habitualbalance of your new neural
pathways that you're building.
So your brain, one of its jobsis to be efficient. And it's
going to go back to the thoughtsabout alcohol, believing alcohol

(14:09):
and the habit and the triggersto the deprivation and all of
the thoughts that aren'tactually true, but that you
believe are true, it's going togo back to those quicker as soon
as it's the end of the day, right and your prefrontal cortex
has no more battery left to useits executive function to say no

(14:32):
to process an emotion to thinkcreatively and to think
curiously, right. So when you'recontinuously re evaluating your
thoughts, your beliefs, andpracticing building that new
neural pathway because you'redoing it in other areas, like

(14:54):
you're using the five shifts andthe other tools that I teach my
clients, then that builds thepermanent pathway, right? Like,
that's why it works. It's notlike you, you are smart, you are
wise you have, you're herebecause you get it, right. But
it's, it's strengthening yourconfidence. And having a place

(15:17):
to really explore some of thethings underneath alcohol that
you just didn't know, werethere, right really uncovering
like you have this voice insideof you. And as that voice starts
to amplify, it's like, I want toexplore all of the nooks and
crannies of, of why why I wantto make this change, right. And

(15:40):
it could just take you alifetime, to do it on your own.
Not that that's a bad thing. ButI just want you to know that I
think you're awesome. And Ibelieve in you. And this fact
that you're here right now saysI should say a lot to you to

(16:02):
know that what you're seeking isalready seeking you. And all you
need to do is go out and grabit. I think that you're amazing.
You're wonderful. And I'm soglad that you're here. So really
work on just being curious aboutwhose thoughts you're thinking.

(16:23):
And another way to distinguishthat the in differentiate
between what you think youshould be doing? And what feels
a little bit scary? Anamplifying the voice of the
inner self? Is? What does itfeel like in my body? Right?

(16:46):
Does it feel exciting? Does itfeel like a good scary? Does it
feel like the end result issomething that I really want?
Right? Or am I pushing myselfinto a box that I don't really
want to be in that feels kind oflike blue? Like I don't want to
I wouldn't want to maintainthat. Right? So notice the

(17:06):
emotions, the energy in thebody, when you're distinguishing
between your voice and the beingso bombarded with so many voices
all around you. And a reallygood way to quiet that quiet the
mind and listen to the heart isto turn that shit off, right?

(17:28):
Like listen to this podcast, andthen take a break this week. And
I've encouraged people to dothat before. But really, really
see what is the voice of thehabit? And you can just ask, is
that true? When you're when yourthought the thoughts tell you
something? Or is that aconditioned belief that makes me

(17:51):
feel scared if I don't continueto believe that? Right? And then
what is the thing that I want tobelieve? And yes, maybe that
feels scary, too. But does thathow does that feel in my body?
Do I want to believe thatalcohol is no longer in

(18:15):
alignment with a version of whoI am. The alcohol isn't good
enough isn't working to get mewhere I want to go. Right? That
it doesn't actually changeanything that it actually makes
things quite hard. Right? Whatdo you want to believe? What do
you believe if you allowedyourself to believe that if it

(18:37):
wasn't scary? Have an amazingweekend? I'll talk to you soon.
