(01:03):
I want to open up with me to 2Chronicles, chapter 3.
If you remember, in chapter 1,solomon is getting ready to
build a temple and he asks Godfor wisdom, and God gives him
great wisdom and great wealth todo the things he's been called
to do.
Well then in chapter 2, hecontacts a neighboring kingdom
and he says hey, I want to builda great palace for God and I

(01:23):
want to build a palace formyself too, but I want to build
a really great palace for God.
Will you help me to do this?
And so, guys, like Game On,let's do it.
And we see how man God is justhonored by this wonderful
gathering of stuff, becauseSolomon is like I'm going to
spare no expense, only the bestfor the true king.
And now in chapter 3, we'regoing to see how he begins to

(01:45):
build this magnificent templethat I'm serious when I say the
likes of which we've never seenagain.
I mean it is amazing when youthink about what they built,
because then you also have tofactor in how many thousands of
years ago this was, which makesthis.
I mean this would be a.
This would immediately be oneof the eight wonders of the
world if it was built today.
This would immediately be oneof the eight wonders of the

(02:05):
world if it was built today.
Imagine now it being built like4,000 years ago.
I mean, that's even moreamazing on what it was.
So if you're ready, 2Chronicles 3, verse 1, let's
read about it.
It says this so Solomon began tobuild the temple of the Lord in
Jerusalem, on Mount Moriah, where the Lord had appeared to
David, his father.
The temple was built on thethreshing floor of Arunah, the

(02:27):
Jebus.
Now pause.
If you remember, what hadhappened was that God was about
to strike the city of Jerusalemand he built an altar there, and
at that altar is where thatplague had stopped because of
the bad census he had donebefore.
So that was the place where hesaid boom, this is where God

(02:47):
answered that prayer, this iswhere God wants it.
So this is where we're going tobuild the temple.
All right, verse two theconstruction began in mid spring
, during the fourth year ofSolomon's reign.
These are the dimensionsSolomon used for the foundation
of the temple of God.
Using the old standard ofmeasurement, it was 90 feet long
, 30 feet wide.
The entry room of the frontmeasurement it was 90 feet long,
30 feet wide.
The entry room of the front ofthe temple was 30 feet wide,

(03:08):
running across the entire widthof the temple, and 30 feet high.
That's like really, really tall.
He overlaid the inside widthpure gold.
So think about that.
Now you got wide, long and thenthree basketball goals is how
tall that thing was.
Really really tall, right, andI know it's kind of hard to get

(03:31):
our minds around this, and so ifyou go to Google and you type
in Solomon's temple, you willsee a lot of diagrams for how
this works, and so I wouldhighly recommend to you we're
going to read this, but ifyou're not, you know, if your
mind doesn't work where you canpicture this in your head, I'd
highly recommend for you topause this real quick and pull
up a graph of what this lookslike so you can get in your head
and then also remember thatmost of this stuff was overlaid
with pure gold.

(03:53):
Okay, verse five he paneled themain room of the temple with
cypress wood, overlaid it withfine gold and decorated it with
carvings of palm trees andchains.
He decorated the walls of thetemple with beautiful jewels and
with gold from the land ofPavarim.
He overlaid the beams, thresholds, walls and doors of

(04:15):
the temple with gold and carvedthe figures of the cherubims on
the walls.
He made the most holy place 30feet high, corresponding to the
width of the temple, and 30 feetdeep.
He overlaid its interiors with23 tons of fine gold.
The gold nails were used, weighing 20 ounces each.

(04:38):
They also overlaid the walls ofthe upper room with gold.
He made two figures shaped likecherubim, overlaid them with
gold gold and placed them in themost holy place.
The total wingspan of the twocherubim standing alongside was
30 feet.
These jokers were huge.
One wing of the first figurewas seven and a half feet long

(05:00):
and it touched the temple wall.
The other wing was 77 and ahalf feet long and touched the
wing of the second figure.
In this same way, the secondfigure had one wing, seven and a
half feet long, that touchedthe opposite wall and the other
wing was seven and a half feetlong that touched the wing of
the first figure.
So they were there and theirwings were outstretched Right.

(05:20):
So the wingspan of the twocherubim were side by side, were
30 feet and they stood on theirfeet and faced out toward the
main room of the temple Acrossthe entrance of the most holy

(05:44):
place.
What happened was when thetemple was destroyed.
When the Babylonians camethrough, they destroyed all of
this, but then, later on, herodrebuilt this temple.
Actually, they rebuilt itduring the time of Ezra, but
then Herod expanded onto it.
But I want you to remember thatwhen Jesus died on the cross,
this curtain that separated themost holy place was torn in half

(06:04):
, and so this is the first onethat was done like that, and it
was a symbol of now everyone hasaccess to the holy place.
But as soon as that curtainwent up, only the priest could
go behind that curtain into theraw presence of God.
Verse 15,.
The front of the temple.
He made two pillars that were27 feet tall, each topped by a

(06:26):
capital extending forward aboutseven and a half feet.
He made a network of interwovenchains and used them to
decorate the tops of the pillars.
He also made 100 decorativepomegranates and attached them
to the chains.
Then he set up the two pillarsat the entrance of the temple,
one to the south of the eastentrance and the other to the

(06:47):
north, and this is where I gotmy title from.
He named one on the south, jachin, and the other one on the
north he named Boaz.
And so what he had is he had onone end of the temple he had
one called Jachin and the otherone was called Boaz.
Well, jachin is actually theHebrew word, means he
establishes, and Boaz means inhim is strength.

(07:12):
And so what God's word issaying is on one side, he
establishes, and Boaz means inhim is strength.
And so what God's word issaying is is on one side, he
establishes and the other side, his strength.
And so what I love about thisis that, even from the very
beginning, what happened is isin between his strength and him
establishing.
It is where we meet with God,and what I love about the idea

(07:33):
of this is the place where Godestablishes our lives.
The place where God establisheshis strength is in his presence
.
Can I tell you, before we getready to end our time together,
I want to challenge you withsomething, and that is when this
is over today.
I want you to take a couple ofmoments and just spend just a
moment or two in God's presence, because when we read God's word

(07:56):
, that's God talking to us, butthen, when we pray, that's us
talking to God and it's in thatfellowship where God establishes
and strengthens us.
I tell you, I've talked topeople before who go through
difficult seasons, and we all gothrough those difficult times
and one of the things I tellthem is I will say, right now,

(08:16):
during this season, while you'reprocessing the pain you're
going through, while you'regrappling with what the doctor's
report had said, while you'reprocessing what's going on with
your children, all this, you'vegot to make sure to spend time
in God's presence.
Don't stop reading your Bibleevery day, don't stop worshiping
God, don't stop spending timein prayer.
And can I tell you how manytimes that people have looked at

(08:37):
me like I was crazy Pastor.
I know that we should do that, but man, I just got too much
going on.
I got too much happening rightnow and I say you've got too
much going on not to spend timein God's presence, because it's
in God's presence.
It's between his strength andhim establishing you.
That only goes through themiddle, which is where his

(08:59):
presence is.
Do you want to be establishedin your life like his foundation
in your life?
Do you want to find hisstrength?
It's only going to come fromthe corners of his presence, and
I don't know that because Iread it in a book somewhere.
I know that because it's what'shappened in my own life.
Can I tell you that there's beentimes in my life when it's just
been a difficult season.

(09:19):
It's been so much going on andthere's been so many demands or
so much pressure whatever, thatI would run to that time with
God, because it was only therethat I could feel his strength
and I knew I needed myfoundation to be stronger.
So I would go to God and Iwould say, god, I cannot do this
.
I need you to establishstrength in me.

(09:43):
And there's so many otherplaces where you can get
strength.
There's so many other thingsand we need to have Christian
fellowship, we need to haveother things, we need to have
times of rest and all thesedifferent things.
I'm not speaking against any ofthose, but I am speaking for,
in your life, when the pressuregets strong, when it seems like

(10:04):
you can't do anymore, one of themost important things you can
do if you want to establish yourlife in God and strengthen your
relationship with him.
Nothing can satisfy, nothing cansubstitute spending time in his
presence daily, reading hisword, because what happens as
you're daily reading his word.
It's your daily getting to knowGod more and more and more,
because the more you read God'sword, the more you remember from

(10:25):
times before and the more itstarts to come back to you.
And sometimes it's going totake a long time.
You're going to have to read itover and over and over again.
But that's what a relationshipis all about.
And then, as you talk to Godand you're fellowshipping with
him, he is slowly helping you toget his mind about what's going
on, and it's in that he isestablishing your life, he is
strengthening your life, andit's all happening when you have

(10:46):
a place where you meet with God.
Often Do you have a time whenyou meet with God?
If not, today's a good day tostart.
You're already reading his word.
You're already doing great.
Why not take a next step?
And before you rush off 30seconds, just say God, be with
me today, help me to walk withyou every day and watch what he
will do.

(11:06):
Let's pray, god.
Thank you so much that you arewith us more than we can imagine
.
God, your word says there'snowhere we can go, that you're
not already there.
So you're already there.
I just pray that you will openour eyes to see that you're
there, god.
That doesn't mean that youexist in all things.
It just means you hold allthings in the palm of your hand.
I pray that we will see that, and that will fill us with

(11:27):
confidence to realize that youare the one who establishes our
foundation.
You are the one who strengthensus, and so we are going to wait
in your presence for a fewmoments today that we can
receive that strength of knowingthat every step we take is all
with you.
In Jesus' name, we pray Amen.
And what God's word says in Ilost it there it is 2 Chronicles

(11:48):
, chapter 16, verse 9, the eyesof the Lord search the whole
earth in order to strengthenthose whose hearts are fully
committed to him.
When you commit your life andcommit your ways to God, man, it
makes him smile and he's soproud of you.
I love you.
I'll see you tomorrow for 1Chronicles, chapter 4.
