Grasp the depth of divine commitment as we traverse the esteemed 2 Chronicles 7 with me, Pastor Brandon. Witness the celestial wonders and the stern covenant that underscores a powerful message: our Lord's fullness requires our complete devotion. From Solomon's earnest intercession to the majestic display of God's glory that fills the temple, this episode is a journey through a sacred narrative that binds us to a promise of His everlasting presence. We unpack the gravity of this commitment as we discuss the extensive celebrations and the forthcoming divine admonition to Solomon, where God delineates the stark repercussions of turning away from faithfulness. It’s not just a historical account but a lesson in the gravity of a covenantal relationship with the Almighty.

Drawing closer to the Eternal One, we offer up a prayer for total surrender, a plea to let His will eclipse our own lives. In doing so, we lay bare our vulnerabilities and aspirations, trusting that His greater purpose will prevail. Through the scriptures, particularly 2 Chronicles 16, we're reminded that our trust in Him reflects the magnitude of His presence in our lives. The episode is a clarion call to those who seek to dedicate every fragment of their being to the Lord, as we explore the unshakeable truth that the eyes of God rove the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are truly His. Join us in this heartfelt conversation that challenges us to reflect on our commitment and embrace complete trust and surrender to His grace.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello everybody, welcome back to the Bible

Today, 2 Chronicles 7, andtoday's title is All I Want is
All of you Not asking for toomuch, right?
I love that idea, and we'regoing to get to one of the most
famous verses in the entire OldTestament today, and if you've
been around church very long, you've probably heard it.

(00:21):
If you've been around church along time, you may even have
part of it kind of memorized, but I wonder if we really
understand what God's word issaying is.
He's like hey, man, I want youto have all of me, but I got a
price attached to that as well.
We're going to do that in justa moment, but, as always, if you
like what we're doing here, make sure you like, share and
subscribe to YouTube channel andthe podcast.
Make sure you're commenting onthe YouTube channel.

(00:41):
I love to hear your comments, your questions, your
observations as well.
Man, it's awesome that we growtogether and then we also gather
together at the Bible BreakdownDiscussion.
Those folks are doing anamazing job every day giving us
those devotions.
I look forward to seeing themevery morning.
I hope you do too, and so ifyou have your Bibles you want to
turn with me to 2 Chronicles 7.

(01:02):
Remember that this theme, as weare now past all the genealogies
of 1 Chronicles, we're into 2Chronicles is that God is with
those who are faithful.
If you remember, yesterdaySolomon prayed this amazing
prayer that said God, we'vededicated this temple, but now
we ask you to let it be a placewhere we can connect with you.
And now God is going to answerhis request and he's going to

(01:27):
say you want it all me, you wantit all of me, you want it all
that smoke.
Well, you're about to get it,but you got to understand that
this is relationship and inrelationship is a two-way street
.
And I love what he says and Iwant us to dive into it in a
minute.
But let's get to it first.
You ready?
2 Chronicles 7, verse 1 saysthis when Solomon finished

(01:51):
praying, fire flashed down fromheaven and burned up the
offerings and the sacrifices, and the glorious presence of the
Lord filled the temple.
The priest cannot enter thetemple of the Lord because the
glorious presence of the Lordfilled it.
And when all the people ofIsrael saw the fire coming down
and the glorious presence of theLord filling the temple, they
fell face down on the ground andworshiped and praised the Lord,

(02:11):
saying he is good and Hisfaithful love endures forever.
And I love that this isn't justthe priests at this point, but
even from, because there wasthree compartments.
You had the holiest of holy, where the temple was, or, excuse
me, the Ark of the Covenant.
Then you had the holy place, which had other holy furnishings
, you had the outer court andthen after that you had just
where everybody was, and soapparently everybody saw the

(02:34):
fire of God come down and thenthey all fell together and said
man, god is good and his loveendures forever.
Just an amazing moment, allright.
Verse four Then the king andall the people offered
sacrifices to the Lord.
King Solomon sacrificed 22,000cattle and 120,000 sheep and
goats, and so the king and allthe people dedicated the temple

(02:57):
of God and the priests tooktheir assigned positions, and so
did the Levites who weresinging His faithful love
endures forever, and theyaccompanied the singing with
music from the instruments KingDavid had made for the praising
of the Lord.
Across the Levites, the priestsblew their trumpets while all
Israel stood, and Solomon thenconsecrated the central area of

(03:18):
the courtyard in front of thetemple and he offered burnt
offerings and the fat of thepeace offerings there, because
the bronze altar had been builtbut it could not hold all the
burnt offerings, grain offeringsand sacrificial fat.
For the next seven days, solomon and all Israel
celebrated the Feast of Shelters.
A large congregation hadgathered from as far away as

(03:41):
Lebo Hamath, in the north of thebrook of Egypt, in the south.
So this is an amazing moment.
They had a party for seven daysbecause the Lord had been so
good to David and to Solomon andto the people of Israel.
So it was this amazing moment.

(04:06):
They had a party for seven daysand then they went home still
excited.
That's an amazing celebration.
All right, verse 11.
So Solomon finished the templeof the Lord as well as the royal
palace.
He completed everything he hadplanned to do in the
construction of the temple andthe palace.
Then one night, the Lordappeared to Solomon and said I

(04:29):
have heard your prayer and Ihave chosen this temple as the
place for making sacrifices.
At times I might shut up heaven, with no rain will fall, or
command grasshoppers to devouryour crops or send plagues among
you.
I love this.
We'll get to that in just amoment.

(04:59):
Let's finish up.
My eyes will be open and my earsattentive to every prayer made
in this place, for I have chosenthis temple and set it apart to
be holy, a place where my namewill be honored forever.
I will always watch over it,for it is dear to my heart.
As for you, if you faithfullyfollow me, as David your father
did, obeying all my commands, decrees and regulations, then I

(05:23):
will establish the throne ofyour dynasty, for I made this
covenant with your father, david, when I said one of your
descendants will always ruleover Israel.
But if you or your descendantsabandon me and disobey the
decrees and commands I havegiven you, and if you serve and
worship other gods, then I willuproot the people from this land
that I have given them.

(05:44):
I will reject this temple thatI made to honor my holy name and
I will make that an object ofmockery and ridicule among the
nations.
And though this temple isimpressive, now all who pass by
will be appalled and they willask why did the Lord do such
terrible things to this land andto this temple?
And then they will answerbecause his people abandoned the

(06:05):
Lord, their God of theirancestors, who brought them out
of Egypt, and they worshipedother gods instead of bowing
down to them.
That is why he has brought allthese disasters to them.
And so God says you want all ofme.
Great, but it comes at a cost.
That's the verse that we readbefore.
I'll read it to you again.
Verse 14 says if my people whoare called by my name will

(06:27):
humble themselves and pray andseek my face and turn from their
wicked ways, I will do what youcalled me to do.
He's saying like I will hearfrom heaven, I will forgive your
sin and I will restore yourland, so I will give you all of
me.
You want all that smoke.
You can have it, but you got todo your part as well.
If you do your part, man, I gota big idea for you.
I got so many great things Iwant to do, but if you don't

(06:52):
turn to me, then all the badthings I'm not going to stop.
They're going to come, andthat's a wonderful lesson for
all of us.
God says you want all of me.
That's exactly what I want todo for you.
Today you may be saying God, Ineed you to do this in my life.
God, I need you to do that inmy life.
I need you to be strong on mybehalf.
I need this, I need that, andGod is good.

(07:14):
And here's the thing God has aplan for your life, and God may
have a plan to heal you.
Or God may have a plan for youto walk through a season of
healing and learn somethingalong the way, or God may have.
I don't know what God's plan is.
God's plans are different thanours, and so it may not look.
It's not like you're going todedicate your life to God and
then God's going to give youexactly what you want.

(07:34):
That's not what I'm trying tosay.
Make sure you don't hear thatfrom me today.
But but what I am saying is iswhen you say, god, I want all of
you, I need you to show strongin my life, I need you to come
through for me.
You know what God says is hesays that's exactly what I want
to do.
I want to show up strong inyour life.
I want to do something amazingin your life.
But that doesn't happen if yougo halfway with me.

(07:55):
That doesn't happen if you go99% of the way with me.
You want all of me.
You have to give all ofyourself to God, and if you do
that, then you will be so muchbetter for it.
God will begin to do amazingthings in your life and you'll
begin to trust them.
You'll begin to trust him to doexactly what he wants to do.

(08:16):
One of the things I've seen inpeople's lives who have been
serving God for a while is whenI was younger in my life I
thought, man, if I just dedicatemyself to God and I just truly
serve God with all of my heart, then He'll give me everything I
want.
You know, the Bible saysdelight yourself in the Lord and
he will give you the desires ofyour heart.
Right?
So I thought, man, if I justdelight myself in God, he's

(08:36):
going to give me the desires ofmy heart.
And my desires at that time wasvery much my own personal
desires, right.
But as I started to watch peoplewho had been a Christian for a
while, served God for a while, and it looked like they truly
had given God everything intheir life and they truly served
God, I started to notice thatwhen God didn't do what I knew

(08:57):
they were praying for, he wasn'tmad at, they weren't mad at Him
for it, and they really took alot of it in stride.
And I would say you know, Idon't understand.
You said that you were trulytrusting God for this, and then
God did something different.
Well, I thought you knowwhatever?
And they said, no, you don'tunderstand.
I trust him.
I trust him.
My desires have changed.

(09:18):
I want that, but my desire isto honor God, because I know
that God truly knows what I need.
And so, yes, I have thesethings.
But it says as you delightyourself in the Lord, he'll give
you the desires of your heart.
My desire is for God to do whathe wants to do, because it's
always better.
And that's one of the thingsI've learned is that God's
saying my plan for you is somuch better than you can imagine

(09:40):
and I want to give you so muchmore.
So you want all of me, man.
I want to give you all of me,but it's going to cost all of
you.
And if you do that, man, it'samazing what God wants to do,
but it's going to cost youeverything, but it is worth
everything.
You ready, let's pray togetherright now.
God, thank you so much for today.
Thank you, god, that you're nothalfway in anything.

(10:04):
You want to be fully in ourlife.
You want to make yourself realto us in many ways, in every way
, but it's going to cost useverything.
We have to lay down our pride.
We have to lay down our desires.
We have to lay down our sin,our addictions, the
self-medicating things that wedo.
You know our hopes, our dreams, all the things.

(10:24):
Lay it all down and pick upyour desires, your hopes, your
wants, only to realize that itwas better than anything we
could have imagined.
Lord, I've learned in my lifethat the more I trust you, the
more trustworthy you are.
I pray that you will showyourself in that way to everyone
listening or watching thistoday that the more we trust you

(10:45):
, the more trustworthy you are.
I thank you for that.
Today, in Jesus' name, we pray.
Amen and amen, what God's Wordsays in 2 Chronicles, chapter 16
, the eyes of the Lord searchthe whole earth in order to
strengthen those whose heartsare fully committed to Him.
I love you.
I'll see you tomorrow for 2Chronicles, chapter 8.
