Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome back to the
Clinic Marketing Podcast.
I'm your host, darcy Sullivanfrom Propel Marketing and Design
, and today we're diving into asilent SEO killer that could be
holding your website back.
Then content Even if your sitelooks polished and professional,
(00:21):
if your pages are light onsubstance, google may be
ignoring them completely.
Even if your website lookspolished and professional, if
your website pages are light onsubstance, google may be
ignoring them completely.
Stick around, because we'rebreaking down what thin content
(00:41):
is, how to identify it and howto fix it so your site actually
works for you.
Alright, let's dive in.
So what is thin content exactly?
Thin content refers to web pagesthat have little to no value to
website visitors.
These pages might be very short, under 200 to 400 words.
(01:06):
In fact, I've seen them withless than 100 words Light,
unhelpful details, lackingoriginal content, or content
that was simply copied fromanother source or directly from
AI.
Or when people create contentjust to target keywords without
(01:29):
providing real insight, and theydo so in a way that is low
value.
For example, if your websitehas separate specific services
pages.
Let's say you're a chiropractorand your website has specific
(01:51):
pages like chiropractic carename of service In a relaxing
environment, book yourappointment today.
(02:19):
That's thin content A littlethat has less than 500 words.
That's thin content.
Google sees this and thinksthere's not enough useful
information here.
Let's rank somebody else's pageinstead.
Thin content can really hurtyour SEO.
(02:41):
Thin content leads to lowrankings because Google's
algorithm favors helpful,in-depth, original content.
You could acquire higher bouncerates, meaning somebody lands
on your webpage expecting tofind high-quality content, reads
the sentence that you have andboom, leaves without taking
(03:04):
action or really findinganything useful.
And when Google sees peoplebouncing from these pages and
realizing that they're low value, google's assuming that that's
what they are low value and isless likely to serve them up to
people in search.
It gives you missedopportunities.
(03:25):
If you're not using yourwebsite pages to build authority
, answer patients' questions, tell them what you do, it's
going to be a missed opportunity.
Then content is one of the topreasons websites fail to rank or
(03:45):
suddenly drop in visibility.
We work with a lot ofchiropractors and I can't tell
you how many chiropractors we'veworked with who have built out
or they thought they built outthese specific services pages,
but each of them just contain afew sentences or paragraphs
(04:07):
without really going into detail.
Or somebody set up the websitefor them and just put in a
little blurb, and that againdoes not serve you.
So once you've expanded yourwebsite and you have specific
services pages, you want to makesure that they actually include
details, that they include adescription of how you provide
(04:30):
the service, not just what theservice is, who it's for, common
ailments or conditions that itcan help treat or helpless.
That you're answering commonquestions about these services.
That you're including realimages and that you're including
testimonials.
Google wants to show resultsthat answer questions people are
(04:54):
searching for.
So we want to make sure thatyour content again demonstrates
your expertise, your authorityand your trustworthiness.
Expertise and authority areshown by explaining these
services in more detail and theway you handle these services,
not just what the services are.
(05:14):
Trustworthiness is shownthrough patient testimonials,
photos of your team or somebodyshowcasing the service that you
offer and even short videos.
When someone searches sciaticatreatment in Denver, google is
trying to send them to a pagethat does its best to explain
(05:38):
what the treatment looks like, what outcomes they can expect
and why your clinic is the bestchoice.
So here are some signs and redflags to look for to let you
know if you have a thin contentproblem If your services pages
are less than 500 words, ifseveral pages have similar or
(06:02):
identical text, especially ifyou copied these from other
people or relied slowly on AI.
Your blog posts are under 500words with no visuals, links or
formatting.
We have tons of resources onthe right way to format blog
posts and we'll include some ofthose in the show notes.
(06:25):
You get traffic to your websitebut low engagement.
This could be no calls, nobookings or submission forms.
So how do you go about fixing athin content problem?
Well, first start by auditingyour website.
Go through your pages and look.
Are there actual segments ofvaluable content on those
(06:50):
specific pages?
Are you adding value On yourspecific services pages?
Are you going into detail aboutthese services?
Are you explaining what willhappen during a first visit For
your conditions pages?
Are you going into detail aboutthe services that relate to
(07:11):
those specific conditions pages?
Are you answering frequentlyasked questions?
We have a DIY SEO programcalled Ready Set Rank and within
Ready Set Rank we have thesepage templates.
So if you're interested inlearning more about that, you
(07:31):
can visit the websitepropellyourcompanycom and, under
Ready Set Rank, if you'reinterested in joining, you get
access to some of the mostvaluable pages you need on your
website that templates for howto lay them out and what content
should actually be on thosepages, for how to lay them out
(07:52):
and what content should actuallybe on those pages.
Also, you want to remember tomake it unique.
Your clinic is not like everyother clinic, so make sure that
your content reflects that.
That has your voice, your tone, your philosophy, your team's
experience and, again, that itsounds like you and not AI.
You can enhance pages by addingmultimedia, like video, but make
(08:17):
sure that you actually havetext on the page.
I remember speaking to ananimal chiropractor and they had
put together this amazing videothat was on their website and
it was on a page by itself andit explained everything that
somebody would need to know.
But you know what?
Nobody was pushing play.
So if you do decide to includevideo, if there is important
(08:42):
information on the video, makesure you include that
information as text on pages onyour website as well, so that
somebody doesn't have to pushplay to know the important
information.
So we love video.
We'd love for you to use it toamplify and take your content to
the next level, but if there isrelevant, important information
(09:06):
on it.
Make sure that you also includethat information as text and
that it's formatted in the rightway.
So easy wins.
Go and check out your specificservices pages on your website.
Make sure you have them as wellright and pick two to three of
your most important servicesthat you offer and see how you
(09:30):
can expand the content on thosepages if the content on those
pages is really falling thin.
Thin content is a very commonissue, but it's also very
fixable.
By putting more care into yourcontent, especially on your most
important pages, you'll berewarded with better rankings,
(09:52):
more website traffic and morebookings.
So don't let a beautifullydesigned website go to waste.
Make sure your content isworking as hard as your website
design.

your SEO, head on over to ourwebsite and book a discovery
(10:14):
