Feamster who. Actually I don't knowif you remember this, but you were
the one that said, hey, there's an internship at do you want a
five? Y'all should try it?Because you were an intern here and you
got me started in radio. SoI'm very thankful to you for that.
Absolutely. Yeah, I remember youcoming up to me saying like, hey,
like, I know you were interning. Do you think maybe want another

(00:21):
intern? I was like, Ican certainly find out, And I mean,
I love that it has turned intosuch a career for you. Yeah,
it pays the bills. But youare coming to DPAK two shows on
Saturday. You got a seven o'clockand a nine thirty show. Everybody that
goes to Piece or now William Piece, they're like, hey, do you
have tickets? We want to go? Are you going? Everybody wants to

(00:43):
see Fortune live live and love tothem that's right. Yeah. The first
show is sold out. The secondshow we have tickets left. I'm hoping
to see familiar faces, new faces. This is my first time doing DPAK.
It's such an iconic theater, soI'm excited. I can't believe I'm
getting to do two of them. Now, do you ever do because you
know this is home for you.I know you're from Charlotte originally, but

(01:06):
still when you come to the RaleighDurham area, do you do me and
greets or is it kind of likeyou don't have time because you got to
go on to the next thing.Yeah, I think that we have a
meet and greet between shows. Okay, it's just hard to It's just hard
to catching up because you know,we went to Peace so it was small
and everybody knew each other. SoI obviously have a lot of friends from

(01:29):
college and I want to see everybody, but there's not enough time in the
day. So I'm gonna be drivingfrom Wilmington to bat two shows there the
night before, and a bunch offriends were like, let's hang out.
I'm like, well, I've gotto drive from Wilmington and then I have
two more shows and I need tobe able to function. Uh So it

(01:49):
just, yeah, it doesn't makethe hangout tom as easy. Does Jack's
travel with you or she stays inla She travels with me like one once
here there, Like she came withme to Chicago and she's come to like
some of these bigger markets. Butshe got so burnt out on the last
four because I have I'm doing ahundred cities on this tour. My last

(02:14):
tour was also one hundred cities. And then we also went to Toronto to
film Food Bar for five months. So she was like, I need a
break, and I totally understand. So so yeah, she comes from and
stays home and takes care of everythinghere the other times. Now, how
do you do it? Because Iknow, when it's your passion, obviously
you make it work. But youwere filming Food Bar except for another season.

(02:36):
You've got good fortune on Netflix.I mean, you got the tour.
How do you keep yourself sane whenyou got so much going on?
Oh? Okay, who knows, but I'm trying. I mean there are
definitely days where I just jags willcatch me staring in the space. Okay,
I'm like, yeah, yeah, yeah, it is definitely a lot.

(03:00):
I mean, but you're you know, if you remember at the Peace
days, I love doing a lotof things and juggling a lot of things.
I'm always happiest when I'm busy, right, And that has only gotten
you know, times five, asI've gotten older. I definitely, you
know, we'll be happy that thistour is coming to an end. It's

(03:21):
been such an amazing tour, oneof my favorite hours. But I will
definitely need to come off the road. But you know, essentially, I
have nine days after I fill myspecial where I'm off, and then I
go back to Toronto again the filmflood Bars with Arnold Schwarzenegger. So it's
not it's not a big break, but I'm doing what I love at least

(03:42):
even though even though I'm tired,I'm happy. And you're friends with Arnold
like you've met a donkey or allof us animals, like y'all hang out.
Yeah, I mean he's a busyguy, Recelyve former governor and as
busy as ever. I've not metanyone that moves around and does anything and
as he does. But yeah,he'll have our cast over to his house.

(04:03):
He has shary events he invites usto. He's you know, the
people that work for him and workedfor him forever, and they're all just
really lovely to us. And he'sawesome. So I'm excited to get back
to work with him. I wantto. Now I know him even better,
so it'll be cool to like tryto go work out with him some

(04:26):
and there, and you know,if he walks to a gym and guys
like lose their minds, they justcan't even believe it. He's He's like,
you know, their their guy, right, I love that. And
you're gonna have more weight this time, right? Is that the deal?
That's right? Yeah? Because lasttime I worked out with him, he
kept he would do the big thebig weight, which I can't do that,

(04:50):
but he would he would take thepen out and put it down like
Bob. I'm like, I doalone. So yeah, I think he
was trying. He's trying to benice, but I'm ready for more weight.
It's Fortune Thiaster. I still callyou Emily Fiemestra in my habit Fortune
Feasters gonna be a dpak. Dopeople do that a lot to you?

(05:10):
Or you're like, I don't knowwhat you're talking about, Unfortune? Oh
no, I mean anybody that Igrew up with obviously knows me by that.
It's just a uh it's Tom.Tom is crazy because now so many
people know me it's Fortune. Ialways thought that, you know, it
would be just kind of a stagename and it just doesn't work like that.
But honestly, for I don't mindpeople call me only that's you know,

(05:31):
my part of my name as well, and it's an awful family name.
I just I definitely feel such aconnection to the name of Fortune,
just because it was my grandmother's maidenname, right, and she really wanted
me to have that name. Soit holds a lot of meaning for me
and your mom. How often, because I died life and you had a
picture of your mom holding up everybodycalled her a slow walker? Does she

(05:54):
get Does she get to travel withyou a lot? Because she's a hood
I love y'all together. She listen. She would love for me to take
her on tour and take care ofher and pay for everything. I would
be worn out by the end ofthat tour if I had to also look
out for her. But the nicething is when I come to the North

(06:15):
Carolina area or you know, SouthCarolina, Georgia, she is within driving
range for her, So she'll beat the Durham Show and I already know
she's gonna be. You know, she didn't like to go through the back.
She wants to go through the theaterand meet everybody and talk to everybody
and take pastures. She loves, she loves the love, so she will

(06:38):
be in Durham both shows getting theLove. Okay, well then I'm getting
a picture with her and all theother piece girls that are coming. We're
gonna have to get a picture withyour mom. And I recently saw that
you do a vision board every year. I do. Yeah, okay,
so what's on the vision board thisyear? You know? Jackson and I
were just saying, we were talkingto her mom that we needed to look
at our vision board to see awhat's come true and be what what's less?

(07:00):
But the division board would be Iwant to I really want to make
my own movie, I wrote.I've written some movies that you know,
it's very hard to get a moviemade, especially these days, and I
would just love that experience of,you know, creating something from the ground
up and seeing it all the waythrough it and starting in a movie.

(07:24):
That would be cool. But yeah, I have big I have big goals,
you know, hopefully. I meanI'd love to be known enough one
day to hosts and l something likethat, you know, But right now,
so many dreams are coming true.I'm this tours been unbelievable. I
sold out the Chicago Theater three monthsin advance, with almost a four thousand

(07:46):
seat theater. I'm starting in aNetflix show with Arnold Warson. There that
the world. So I'm doing allright. The division board has has been
working okay. So for anybody listen, because you know, like I make
vision boards. A lot of peopledo that, but sometimes they get defeated
if it doesn't come true. Anyadvice for them on that, I mean,

(08:07):
you know, you have to justkeep at it. I've been in
LA for twenty one years. Iride here with twenty five dollars in my
pocket, you know, no backupplan. It was just like, I
want to figure this out. Andyou know, I never let not having
money or not knowing people keep mefrom accomplishing things. I think you just
have to work hard. And ifyou have a goal, you know that

(08:31):
gives you something to work towards. And if you just keep working hard,
I think that's the ticket, right. It's not sitting around and waiting for
something to happen. It's trying tomake things. Half of yourself. Well,
Hooters be a part of the showthis weekend. Maybe it's not part
of my act. But sometimes ifI have time, I'll at the end
slide in the Hooters story as alittle cherry on top. So it'll just

(08:54):
depend on the timing. But it'sso fun when I can do it because
the whole audience kills. I havenever been to Hooters when I say it,
Uh so that's the That's a prettycool moment pretty much. Chili's and
Hooters, both of those restaurants.Anytime I see it, I'm like,
that's Fortune's restaurants, both of them. Are you still doing Chili's? I

(09:16):
mean occasionally, like you know, they'll reach out and whatnot, but everyone
loves them and so they're good.They don't need me, but it's it's
nice to go there and enjoy itsome time the time. Fortune Feast are
at Deepak the Live Life and LoveTour, which I love the name.
What inspired the name? Just thosesons, you know that our moms have

(09:39):
everywhere that they're like, this ismy art, and you're like, mom,
that's not art. It's a wordand a frame. But yeah,
but then you know, I endedup having one of those and Jackson's like
what is this And I go,oh my god, I'm sure there's my
mother so just that, you know, not a lot of sets about my

(10:01):
mom and Jack, and so itjust felt like it fit. But also
I love to send to it,even though that sign we always made fun
of. I mean, I'm like, I don't want to live and laugh
and love exactly. The hope isthat people come to the show and they
feel good, they laugh a lot, and they leave feeling a lot better
than when they got there. Joyis what we're we're trying to bring to

(10:24):
the table. And uh and theenergy in that room, you'll feel it.
It's it's so good and so positive. And that's what you know,
makes me proud about the career I'vecrafted for myself and the people that come
and support me. It's just alot of love and a lot of joy.
Well, we love you, veryexcited to see you. Great to
talk to you, you know, and thanks for America. Y'all. Go

(10:46):
see our girl Fortune Fiinster at DPAK. Two shows seven o'clock sold out,
but there's still a nine thirty show. That's the show. I'm going to
get those tickets now dpakanc dot com.
