Jessica Lundy (00:00):
If you desire to
travel the world, don't limit
the type of experiences you wantto have.
Give yourself the permission todream big relentlessly, so that
you can look back at the end ofthe year and feel a sense of
pride, a sense of accomplishment, like I feel, like I did it.
(00:20):
One of the biggest lessons thatI learned on this world tour is
how similar we are.
Sometimes we can look at peoplefrom across the different
countries and different nationsand it can feel like our lives
are so different, but I realizedthat most people just want to
be loved.
Most people just want to bevalued.
(00:53):
Welcome to the Finally Healedpodcast, where we prioritize
mental health, self-care andembracing our healing journey
together.
I'm your host, jessica Lundy, and today we are talking about
healing on the move.
I am so excited because I justcame back from my world tour and
(01:16):
before we get into that, I haveto talk about my t-shirt that
says travel like your mentalhealth depends on it.
If you guys follow Pinky Colefrom the very popular brand
Slutty Vegan, she did thissocial experiment where she
encouraged all of her followersto support a Black woman-owned
(01:37):
business and I had to takeadvantage of that opportunity.
I truly believe that it takesthe supportive community to
encourage people to keep goingand keep growing.
And y'all, when I saw thisshirt, it spoke to my heart.
So make sure you check out MetCinnabalo.
They do some really, reallycool t-shirts and I think it's
(02:00):
amazing when we can cometogether and support phenomenal
brands.
But when I think about howimportant travel is in my life,
it is a part of my mental healthand my well-being and every
time I have the opportunity tobe on an airplane, it is just my
(02:21):
happy place.
You know you're in the air, youknow you open up your window,
you see the clouds.
It is just such a magicalexperience that I always look
forward to, and this tour hasbeen a dream come true.
You know, when I think aboutlittle Jessica being 10 years
old and setting these really big, ambitious goals having a world
(02:47):
tour, being able to travel theworld and encourage and inspire
and motivate people I rememberwhen that was a dream and now I
have been able to turn my dreamsinto reality and I am excited
to take you guys with me on thisjourney and be a part of the
experience.
But all of this started becauseI was brave enough, at the top
(03:12):
of 2024 to declare and decreethat this would be my year of
international travel.
Now, when you're thinking aboutsetting your goals and setting
your intentionalities for 2025,I want you to do it from a place
of boldness.
I want you to do it from aplace of tenacity.
I want you to do it likeanything is possible.
(03:33):
And listen, if you need toborrow some belief from me to
make sure that you are livingyour purpose in 2025, make sure
you come to my new me, new event.
We're doing a planning eventDecember 14th.
If you haven't gotten yourtickets yet, make sure you go.
This is going to be alife-changing event so that
(03:54):
whatever dreams you have for thenew year, you can turn it into
a reality as well, and so I havebeen in great expectation all
year to be able to travel, andit was such a beautiful
experience.
If you desire to travel theworld, you know I encourage you
to start creating a list of thecountries that you desire to
(04:15):
travel to, the experiences youwant to create, and when you're
doing this, like, put money likeoff the table, like, don't
limit the type of experiencesyou wanna have.
If you wanna fly first class,if you wanna stay in the nicest
hotels, if you want to have aconcierge experience, if you
wanna do this with your friendsor your family, like, give
(04:36):
yourself the permission to dream, to dream big, to dream
relentlessly, so that you canlook back at the end of the year
and feel a sense of pride, asense of accomplishment.
And as I reflect on 2024,that's how I feel.
I feel like I did it and thatis a beautiful feeling.
(05:00):
And so I got the opportunity totravel in a very short period
of time, essentially like in thelast, like 30 days.
I've been to Toronto with Canada.
I had the opportunity to speakin London.
I had the opportunity to speakin the Bahamas and in Mexico,
and I'm so grateful I got to dothis with people that I love.
For some parts of the tour, Iwas able to be with my Next
(05:24):
Level family.
It was such a beautifulexperience.
Being able to travel with thenumber one motivational speaker
in the world, dr Eric Thomas, getting to travel with Jeremy
Anderson, cj, and the entireteam, and being the only woman
on the tour was an extremelyempowering experience.
(05:44):
I never take it for granted, especially when I touched down
in Canada, at London, and I wasreally able to empower the women
to be able to dream outside oftheir circumstances.
There were so many women thathugged me and really thanked me
(06:04):
for showing up so boldly everytime that I hit this stage, and
I just think representation isso important and I will continue
to be that voice for women sothat they can see themselves and
know that anything is possibleto them that believe.
Now, tour life is can be alittle bit exhausting.
(06:26):
This is one of those thingswhere people don't really like
to talk about, because you wantto be grateful, right, you want
to stay positive, but, if I canbe transparent, it can be
challenging, especially as a newmom to a now two-year-old baby.
Abigail turned two.
But it can be challengingleaving your daughter, leaving
(06:48):
your husband, to travel.
But that is why it is soimportant to have a strong
vision, to have a strong purpose, to have a strong why.
Because I know why I got intothis industry to bring hope to
the next generation, toencourage people to talk about
mental health and burnoutprevention and topics that are
(07:10):
dire.
This is what pushes me totravel alone at times.
This is what pushes me to be onthe road for maybe weeks at a
time and might not be able tosee you, know my family or make
the sacrifices that I make, because I believe that God put
me on the earth to do somethingso special and so potent and so
unique, and so that is whatdrives me on some of those days
(07:35):
that are really challenging.
One of my favorite parts of thetour when we were in London, I
got to spend some reallyintimate time with CJ, who is
ET's right-hand man.
If you guys have watched theinterview we got with the Secret
to Success podcast that I wasrecently on, make sure you check
that out.
But we had such an amazing time.
(07:56):
We got to do all the touristythings.
Sometimes when I travel, youknow, I don't always have the
opportunity to get to dotouristy things, to get to see
Big Ben or get to be in thesubways or get to see some
really cool sites.
And because my mental health isone of my top priorities, I was
(08:18):
intentional about experiencingthe cultures in the different
countries that I was able to goto.
When I had the opportunity tospeak in the Bahamas, I was
intentional about immersingmyself in the culture, like
getting to connect with thewomen in the different
communities, and it was amazing.
(08:41):
There was a point.
You know, I am half Jamaican.
My dad was in a Trinidadianband, so I'm very connected to
the culture and very muchdesiring to want to connect with
my roots.
And when I was in Bahamas, likeI instantly felt bohemian, like
I was initially accepted in theculture so beautifully, and it
was something that I will neverforget.
(09:03):
It was a life changingexperience.
I had such an amazingexperience.
I'm going to be going backearly 2025 and just really
building a really goodpartnership within the country.
I even had the opportunity tomeet the prime minister's wife
and that was just a beautifulexperience.
(09:23):
I'd actually debuted a newkeynote called I've Made it this
Far, now what?
And it was geared towards highachieving women that have
literally achieved everything.
Like they have the degrees, youknow, they have the positioning
, they have the rank, but theyare still feeling unfulfilled.
Like can you relate to that?
(09:43):
Like you did all the stuff theytold you to do and you're still
wondering, like what is next?
That is the woman that I wasspeaking to, and so I remember
there was.
There was this intimate momentthat I had with the prime
minister's wife and we were justtalking about, like, the
reality of making it to the topand how lonely that can be at
times.
You know that's something thata lot of times we don't get the
(10:05):
chance to talk about, becausewhen you are that person I
believe the woman that I'mspeaking to right now you are
that person in your family whereyou might be the first person
in your family to have gone tocollege.
You might be the first personin your family making six
figures or desiring to be amillionaire, or desiring to
achieve all these things, and itcan feel lonely because you're
telling your goals and yourdreams to your family and
(10:27):
sometimes you're looking at youlike, how are you going to be
able to do this?
And I know I have learnedpersonally that there are
certain people that I just can'ttell my goals to because they
are too precious to be notrespected.
Just getting to have theseconversations and when I think
about, one of the biggestlessons that I learned on this
(10:49):
world tour is how similar we are.
You know, sometimes we can lookat people from across the pond
or in different countries or indifferent nations and it could
feel like our lives are sodifferent.
But I realized that most peoplejust want to be seen.
Most people want to be heard.
Most people want to be loved.
Most people just want to bevalued and thinking about being
(11:10):
able to hug them and people loveon people just really brought
me just so much joy.
You know, reignited a passionfor wanting to help people.
You know, in this season I am sopassionate about helping women
like really become the bestversion of themselves, and I've
been documenting my journey.
(11:31):
You know, one of my favoriteparts of the podcast is our
healing moment, where it is anaction item, and I want to give
you that a little bit early.
I think one of the best thingsthat you can do is start
documenting your journey.
You know, when I look back atsome of the things that I've
been able to accomplish, sometimes I gotta like pinch
(11:53):
myself that this is real, thisis my real life, and so I have
been keeping a diary, like avideo diary, of these intimate
experiences.
Now, these probably will neversee the light of day.
I don't plan to ever post theseon social media, but I want to
be able to look back and remindmyself when I was getting ready
(12:15):
to speak in London or gettingready to take the stage in
Canada, or the preparation, because I never want to take for
granted what God has blessed mewith and on those days that are
challenging.
Let's be honest.
There are days where you mightnot feel encouraged, or you
might not feel motivated, or youmight not feel excited, or you
might have even gotten bad news.
(12:35):
Looking back at these videodiaries will remind you of these
special moments that no one cantake from you.
As I was preparing for thisepisode, like I was just going
back and looking at that folderin my phone and it just really
encouraged me, it really blessedme and it allowed me to sit in
(12:58):
gratitude.
We have so much to be gratefulfor.
If you're watching this duringThanksgiving, I want you to take
a moment and pause forgratitude for the fact that we
have the ability to be able totravel.
We have the ability to create, the fact that we have the
ability to be able to travellike.
We have the ability to createthe life that we deserve, all by
just making the decision tochange, just making the decision
(13:20):
to be the best version ofourselves.
And I encourage you when youdecide to really lock into your
actual identity, like the personthat you were destined to
become.
I promise you that there isanother woman that's going to be
motivated by your story, thatshe's going to be encouraged,
that she's going to seesomething in you and say, if you
can do it, I can do it.
(13:41):
And so I want you to dream bigas we transition into this new
year.
I want you to set yourexpectations high, because if I
can do a world tour, you coulddo a world tour right.
If I can step out of my comfortzone and continue to do things
that might make me a little bituncomfortable at times, might
make me a little bit anxious, Iwant to encourage you that you
(14:05):
can do the same and, mostimportantly, you've got this.
So let's talk about some of thestuff that helps me to focus on
my mental health while I travel.
Right, there are so many thingsoutside of your circumstances
when you're traveling, you don'tknow if your flight's going to
be delayed, you don't know ifyour bags can get lost, and so I
(14:29):
think one of the things thathas helped me the most, like
logistics wise, is there's anapp I use called Trifit, and it
allows me and my team toorganize everything in there,
and that has been a game changer, because one of the most
stressful things about travelingis making sure everything goes
smoothly, and I don't know aboutyou, but I like to take the
(14:52):
guesswork out of as many thingsas possible.
I am in my systems era, I'm inmy delegation era, so I am
constantly trying to make surethat I'm running my life as
smoothly as possible, and sothis has helped me tremendously.
So I think the planning, thepreparation, all of the details,
but also giving yourself thefreedom to be able to really
(15:16):
enjoy and explore, and one ofthe other things that I put into
place is boundaries.
I had to have some real seriousconversations myself, because
there are times when you're ontrips whether it's business or
personal, where you want to goto every dinner, like you want
to go to every event, but I amreally big on managing my energy
(15:40):
, and there were times wherepeople wanted to do extra
excursions.
Or, you know, there was a timewhere a couple people went to
Paris and I wanted to go, but Iknew I wasn't going to have the
energy to actually perform onstage if I did all the extra
stuff.
It's okay to say no to amazingopportunities at times, right?
Because especially when you'reon a world tour, like you got to
manage your energy I knew thatI couldn't burn out at city two
(16:03):
right when I got a long ways togo.
So I think it's important to bereal with yourself, to be
honest with yourself, setsexpectations and allow yourself
to be your most authentic self.

bump that.
