Do you find yourself in the middle of a binge or a moment of struggle and not know what to think or do?  This is common and before therapy, Jacqueline found herself in this position quite frequently.  Episode 55 is a conversation about the exact thought process that Jacqueline uses when she's in that position.  The first thing to think about and remember is that this feeling is not uncommon and it is normal to fall down or "struggle"  These thoughts and feelings are absolutely normal.  Growing and learning are not about preventing the fall but getting back up after the fall.  When these moments happen take a deep breath and take a moment to breathe and remember that you are OK.  Allow yourself to feel whatever it is that you are feeling, anger, sadness, frustration, whatever those feelings are feel them and release them then stand back up and keep going on your journey.  After the moment passes take some time to think about what happened and if you can why it happened.  Journaling these thoughts has helped Jacqueline tremendously.  She can look back and try to connect certain feelings or situations with moments of struggle.  Next, it is important to address how you felt physically and emotionally after that binge or struggle.  This is another key step in using these difficult times to grow and get stronger.  After you figure out what happened and how you felt take some time to reflect on those feelings to link the two situations together.  Maybe this reflection helps you to figure out why you turned to food.  The last thing Jacqueline thinks about and figures out is "What can I do to feel better about this situation?"  Maybe the key to avoiding this situation in the future is better planning or better stress management, maybe you need to eat more throughout the day, maybe you need to talk with someone and address an issue that you are holding on to.  No matter what it is that you need to do to feel better about the situation it is valuable to remember that you cannot change what has happened but you can look back at this situation and approach the next situation with a different plan or experience.  In the beginning, it may not be easy to work through this thought process or experience but the more that you can reflect the easier it will become.  You may not have the answers to all of these questions but working through difficult situations can help you grow and overcome some struggles.
