Picture this: for a decade, I navigated the demanding waters of running a business entirely on my own. It wasn’t until I welcomed help into my process that I truly felt the relief and witnessed tangible progress. This episode of the Simplicity of Wellness podcast mirrors that journey, but in the realm of health and weight loss. I share how, just like in business, seeking support can be a game-changer in personal wellness. The pressure to manage it all, alone, can be overwhelming, but with an accountability buddy or a coach, the path becomes not only smoother but more joyful. Let me guide you through practical strategies to lighten the load and find fulfillment in your health journey.

The narrative continues as I reveal how identifying the most challenging aspects of your weight loss journey can be the stepping stone to real transformation. By focusing on one hurdle and enlisting support—whether from an inspiring recipe blog or a professional coach—you can start to see changes without resorting to drastic measures. Picture yourself eating for the body you want and becoming healthier without upheaving your lifestyle. Plus, I’m here to offer personalized advice through a free consultation and welcome your questions for upcoming episodes. Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Simplicity of Wellness podcast.
I'm your host, board-certifiedholistic nutritionist and
professional life coach, amyWhite.
The purpose of this podcast isto share information that you
can use to become leaner, stronger and healthier by losing
weight, shedding inches, maintaining muscle and managing

(00:21):
your mind, all while living yournormal busy life in this modern
, sugar-filled world.
Hello Simplifiers, this week Iwant to talk about doing it all,
doing everything by yourself, and the exhaustion and overwhelm
that comes with that Exhaustionand overwhelm that you may not

(00:42):
even realize you're carryingaround the stuff that makes you
quit, without reallyunderstanding why you stopped.
I've been running my businessby myself for 10 years.
It's been a one-woman show.
If I wasn't the one doingsomething, it wasn't getting
done.
I thought things were fine.
I was handling all of thethings.
When I'd have a software issueand the support line would say I

(01:04):
should check with my tech guy,I'd say I am the tech guy.
That's me the CEO of it allTech, social media, client
outreach, billing, contentcreation, seo writer, filmer
editor, website designer.
But my real job the one I'mtrained for and the one I know
how to do really, really well isweight loss, nutrition and

(01:25):
coaching.
I've had many moments when Iwanted to just shut it all down.
Not because I don't love beinga nutritionist.
I love helping women loseweight and change their behavior
.
I love that.
What I don't love is doing allthe things that I really don't
know how to do, or at leastdon't know how to do.
Well, I recently hired a coupleof different people to help me

(01:46):
with some of the business stuff.
I have a new SEO manager and anew social media manager.
While these people are doingsome amazing work and proving to
me that the old saying youdon't know what you don't know
is totally true, the biggestthing that I've noticed is I'm
more relaxed.
Over the last couple of weeks,I've been dealing with some
things that have kept me awayfrom my desk.

(02:07):
During this time, I've hadmoments where I'd start to get
stressed because I wasn'tworking on my business.
Then I'd remember oh wait, mywebsite and SEO are being
handled.
My newest project and big offerare being built.
Things are happening without me.
My business is moving forward, even though I'm not at my desk.

(02:28):
As I sit here and record thispodcast, my company, the
Simplicity of Wellness, is beingmanaged.
It's an amazing feeling knowingthat, while I may not be
focused on all aspects of mybusiness.
It's okay.
I don't have to keep all theballs in the air by myself.
As usual, I thought about thisidea of doing it all and the

(02:49):
overwhelm and quit that comeswith this in relation to losing
weight and improving health.
Weight loss and health changescan often feel very solitary
because it is a you thing.
You want to lose weight, youwant to get healthy.
It's your body.
No one else can do it for youand because of that there is
this belief that you have to doit all alone.

(03:12):
I can see why weight loss drugsand designer weight loss
programs with prepackaged mealsare so appealing.
It's like hiring someone elseto do the stuff you don't feel
like you're good at.
I totally get the appeal.
The problem is, with weight loss, it really is all about you and
your body.
You are the only one who canreally understand what works and

(03:34):
doesn't work for you.
Weight loss drugs andprepackaged meals don't help you
figure out your body.
They don't help you figure outwhat works and doesn't work for
you.
So without the weight lossdrugs and the prepackaged meals,
it's very likely that theweight will come back because
you haven't adapted how youthink about food and how you

(03:56):
manage your food in a way thatwill work for your body.
Healthy, lasting weight loss iswhat you get when you move away
from the weight loss drugs andthe prepackaged meals, when you
take the time to figure out yourbody.
This doesn't mean weight losshas to be an overwhelming and
solitary process.
Even though weight loss is avery personal process, I don't

(04:20):
think it has to be something youdo alone.
In fact, if you want real, lasting results, the best thing
you can do is include otherpeople.
The number one thing you can doto increase your weight loss
success is find anaccountability buddy or group.
Research has shown that regularaccountability increases
success by 95%.

(04:42):
There is no shame in wanting tolose weight and become
healthier.
The more you talk about it andthe more you share, the less
scary and overwhelming it willfeel.
Think about your experience withweight loss.
Grab a pen and paper.
Make a list of all yourthoughts about weight loss.
Look at the list.
Pull out the thoughts that aremaking you feel like weight loss

(05:04):
is hard.
Now think about what you coulddo to make these aspects of your
weight loss process feel easieror, dare I say, even fun, if
you struggle with movement orexercise.
What are a few things that youcan think of that would make
moving more, or even exercising, feel doable for you?
Someone who you plan to meet upwith, a person who is counting

(05:26):
on you to show up?
Maybe food feels overwhelming, trying to figure out how to keep
your food easy but interesting.
Look for recipe blogs, instagram accounts and cookbooks
that align with the way youwanna eat and inspire you to
stay consistent.
Maybe it's mindset and youstruggle with self-judgment or
inconsistency due to a beliefthat everything is all or

(05:48):
nothing.
Find a coach who can help youwork through your limiting
beliefs.
Maybe it's time you feel likeyou just don't have enough time
to spend hours shopping andcooking.
I've said this before and I'llsay it again we live in a world
of convenience.
Use this to your advantage.
Stock your fridge and freezerwith healthy, prepared foods

(06:08):
that will work as part of yourweight loss plan.
If you're unsure what you couldbuy, that would be a healthy
prepared food, look at a mealservice like HelloFresh.
Instead, there are even healthyways to include fast food in a
pinch.
It's okay not to make everysingle thing you eat from
scratch.
If figuring out food feels likeone of your big obstacles.

(06:30):
Find a nutrition coach orweight loss plan that teaches
you about food and how itimpacts your body so you feel
confident about your foodchoices.
How to read labels so you canmake choices that work for your
body and move you toward yourgoals when buying prepared foods
, getting takeout or sittingdown in a restaurant.
I don't know anything about SEOsearch engine optimization.

(06:53):
I've told myself for 10 yearsit didn't matter because I'm
really good at what I do, so thesearch engines will just figure
it out and find me.
That's not how it works.
I finally hired an SEO expertexpert and in just two weeks
I've had more traffic to mywebsite than I've had in years.
If you're eating healthy butyou're not getting the results
you want, it's time to stopbelieving it will figure itself

(07:17):
out.
I mean it might, but wouldn'tyou rather understand if what
you're doing is actually theright thing?
I'm a big believer of takingthe overwhelm out of weight loss
by simplifying the process withnutritional guidance and
mindset support.
When you're not hungry becauseyour food fills you up for hours
, it's a lot easier to skip thesnacks and make good food

(07:39):
choices.
When you're making good foodchoices.
You don't need to rely onwillpower, because your cravings
for sugar and processed carbsgo away.
When your body stops relying onsugar as a quick energy
kickstart, you stop having thesugar crashes and instead enjoy
constant daytime energy.
When you have constant daytimeenergy, you feel more energetic

(08:01):
and end up moving more.
When you start moving more, youbegin to identify as someone
who exercises.
Before you know it, you've lostthe weight, feel amazing and
now identify as a woman who'sfit and healthy.
A fit, healthy woman easilymaintains her healthy weight.
You can be like me and spend thenext handful of years trying to

(08:23):
do it all by yourself, or youcan be smarter than me and stop
wasting time.
It's hard trying to do it all.
There's no shame in findinghelp.
The reality is, my businesswill be better because of the
help I'm now getting.
How can you make your weightloss journey better?
There are so many different waysto make weight loss feel easier

(08:45):
and more fun.
Start by writing down thethings that feel the hardest.
Pick one thing from your listand find someone to help you
with that one thing.
Start there, as always.
