Speaker 1 (00:00):
I'm saying, well, and this is your motivational moment for
this week. We're going to talk about the power of
creating the perfect morning ritual. And when I say perfect,
perfect for you. The other day, I was having a
pretty crappy day. Stays and I had had a big argument.
(00:23):
We were kind of I don't know, I don't know
what was going on. I think the kids were sick,
and it was just a lot happening at once, and
it was kind of death by a thousand cuts, and
it just got the better of me, and I went
for a run and I sort of don't know why.
For me, it was like, I just need to get
out of here. And it really changed my sort of
(00:43):
mental aspect for the day, and I decided to myself
that I was going to do four k's a day
for the month of FAB to start the morning, just
to kind of It wasn't even about my fitness, to
be honest, The cardio and running part of it was
about ten percent of the reason I decided to do
(01:03):
it. It was more just to get myself in a good
frame of mind mentally at the start of each day,
because I know when I finish a run, I'm actually
a different person physically. But we're talking morning rituals on
today's little motivational moment, and that's just one example. You
can have multiple morning rituals. My four K day little
(01:25):
post stimulate a lot of people saying to me, I
do that. You know, I have to do my morning workout.
I have to walk my dog. I have to go
for a swim in the cold bay. I have to
lay my clothes out the night before to make sure
they're the first thing I see when I wake up
in the morning. I have to put my phone on
the other side of the room so that I don't
(01:46):
smooze my alarm. I have to make my overnight oats
because I'm really bad at skipping breakfast. And I know
if I get prepared the night before. So there was
a really interesting combination of things that people have to
do in the morning or even one step before that,
things that have to people find if they do it
the night before, they prep the night before, it sets
(02:06):
them in really good stead. You know, you hear all
these interesting traits of successful people, you know, like I
always think of the Marcus Zuckerberg Steve Jobs example that
they always wore the same thing to work every day.
You know, Steve Jobs had the Skivvy on and Mark
Zuckerberg wears a white T shirt and jeans and New
Balance sneakers. I think, and it's kind of like, why
(02:27):
waste valuable time choosing an outfit when it really doesn't
bloody matter. I think it's what it represents. I mean,
I'm not about wearing the same outfit every day. I
quite like choosing what I wear. But the principle I like,
and the theory I like. And it's just interesting how
you can take little tippits from these really successful people's routines.
You know, you don't have to be Mark Wahlburg and
(02:47):
get up at four am and do the four am
club and train with a personal trainer and you're elite
home gym for an hour every day and then meditate
and then do you know, that's extreme. So it might
be go for a walk, it might be have a
big glass of water. It might be and we've spoken
about this before on the show, do something really simple
like make your bed. It's kind of setting yourself up
(03:09):
that the day has begun and if I go it
doesn't really matter. But it's so simple to have a
really good morning ritual. So my exercise for you for
(03:32):
this week is find one to three morning slash night
before rituals and do them consistently for the next twenty
eight days the next four weeks, and I really really
think it'll set you up to show how important the
morning is to set you up for a great day
(03:54):
and how important habits are to get that morning right
