(00:00):
Voice of Yoga.
Welcome to the Institute for Personal
Development, Kriya Yoga Ashram, where
Total Consciousness is the new frontier.
Kriya Yoga is union of the
individual with the Divine.
(00:22):
Join us as we explore the practices to
initiate this process.
Good morning, welcome to the Voice of
Yoga, Let's Talk Consciousness.
I am your hostess, Lisa Winton, and with
me is Kenny Toy, also known as Swami
Jayananda, founder of the Institute for
Personal Development, located here in
(00:43):
Hampton, New Hampshire.
Good morning, Swami.
Thank you for being here today.
How are you?
Good morning.
I'm doing pretty good today.
How about you?
I'm doing great today too.
Thanks for asking.
And we'd like to thank
you all for tuning in.
Today on The Voice of Yoga, we will talk
about some of the changes to be expected
when identity shifts from mental-material
(01:04):
to Spiritual because there is no Life,
Truth, or intelligence in matter.
Listen as we explore some methodologies
suggested by Herb Fitch in Realization
of Oneness, Class 33b.
"We are to know that we are Christ, not in
the world, while we
appear as form in the world." End of quote.
(01:25):
In this show, we will discuss the value
of living in the Immortal Self by putting
off the mortal sense of life.
Welcome to The Voice of Yoga.
We are Talking Consciousness.
Join the Kriya Yoga Spiritual Advance to
get the light in your soul and reflect
the Divine image and likeness.
Swami the title of today's podcast is
(01:45):
"Transfering Allegiance
from Shadow to Light."
Can you explain that title to us?
Yeah, in order to demonstrate Divine Law,
we must be a faithful
witness to the Divine creation.
And so the idea of shifting allegiance
from creation to the Creator is a
(02:08):
treasured skill to develop in the
practice of Divine Science.
Selfless humility isn't false modesty,
but the Spiritual request of meekness,
which is the realization of
only One Life everywhere always.
(02:28):
And so we'll look at the scriptural
command of putting off the old man, or
the self-immolation taught by Mary Baker
Eddy, and yet not no self, but One Self.
Swami I was wondering if you could dig a
little bit deeper for us about the phrase
(02:49):
"being a faithful witness."
What does that look
like when we're doing that?
Yeah, for me, the Ninth Commandment,
"Thou shalt not bear false witness
against thy neighbor."
When you start to understand things
through a Spiritual awareness, you
understand that Spirit is One, It's
(03:11):
Perfect, It's Whole, It's indivisible.
There's only One Spirit.
So what we're looking at with our
five corporeal sense mind
is not the Divine creation.
That's the biggest downfall for humanity
is we believe the testimony of our
(03:32):
corporeal senses is real, but it's a
hypnotic state driven by
a belief in two powers.
It's a concept, an
appearance, but it's not the Truth.
So to be a faithful witness to the Divine
creation, you must see the Divine
creation and be able to not be tempted by
(03:56):
the testimony of your corporeal senses,
which is bringing forth an imperfect
concept about the Divine
creation, which is Perfect.
So if we're not being a faithful witness,
then the opposite would be true.
We would be in sin.
(04:17):
Right.
Sin being the archery
term missing the mark.
And it's interesting because it has its
own dynamic to it under
what we call the law of karma.
This belief in two powers takes you out
of Divine consciousness, puts you under
(04:38):
this other government of
good and evil, life and death.
And so a big part of this show is we want
to learn how to transfer our allegiance
from the shadow to the light come out of
the false sense of existence and know the
Truth, which makes us free from this
(05:01):
temporary sense of life.
So if we were to become a faithful
witness, would that also in turn cause us
to have this selfless humility?
Well, what would happen is you would lose
the personal sense of self and you would
now be under the
(05:21):
government of the One Life.
So you'd be out from under karmic law,
material law for every action.
There is an equal and an opposite
reaction driven by
this belief in two powers.
Once you overcome false belief and you
Know the Truth, then you live under the
(05:43):
government of Divine Law, which doesn't
have any of the problems we experience in
this false sense of
existence, but you can't be both.
And this is one of the important things
that you understand.
The physics of Spirituality, like
attracts like, two things can occupy the
(06:06):
same space at the same time.
So we must come out of the finite false
sense of existence and then at the same
time, accept Spiritual identity because
otherwise you could fall into that
psychotic state of no self and fear is a
(06:26):
defense mechanism for
the false sense of self.
But the physical body is like a monkey
and a monkey won't let go one branch
unless it's got another
branch in the other hand.
So we want to get connected to the
invisible, intangible
Divine Omnipresence.
When you do make this transference, you
(06:49):
don't go from the
frying pan into the fire.
You go from mental-material duality into
Omnipresent wholeness
of Spiritual identity.
So to stay with methodology, the Bible
gives us commands like-- sow to the Spirit,
(07:09):
not the flesh, absent from the body and
present with the Lord.
Learn how to be a faithful witness to the
Divine creation and not be tempted to
believe in the
mental-material world of energy.
To do this, tell the truth about the
Truth and tell the truth about the lie.
(07:32):
Separate the wheat from the tares, the
false from the Real, the object from the
shadow and have a very accurate
description of what you think the Divine
Principle is because you
want to remove the insult.
The Divine Principle did not make
sickness, suffering,
(07:54):
disease, lack or limitation.
Did not make anything that can die.
Anything that does not have Divine
quality, you know, did not come from
Divine Mind and so you
treat it differently.
Swami let's take a deeper dive into what it
(08:15):
means to sow to the Spirit, not the
flesh, absent from the body
and present with the Lord.
The two biggest obstructions to Divine
Truth, one is thinking evil is a
tremendous force we must overcome and the
other obstacle is thinking God is in
(08:37):
charge doing everything
and I have nothing to do.
So tell the truth about the Truth and
tell the truth about the lie.
We don't want to fall into pantheism.
Think God made everything good and bad.
If we do, we remain under karmic law.
(08:58):
In order to demonstrate Divine Law, you
need the Principle and the rule.
The Principle is Absolute Goodness,
Omnipresent, Eternal
Life without opposite.
This will give you the Principle and
provided you are not tempted to fall back
(09:19):
into the belief in something other than
the Perfection of Being.
Then what will happen is you will start
to reap the fruits of the Spirit.
Consciousness is experience.
To activate Divine Law in our
experiences, we must be
(09:39):
conscious of the Divine Truth.
To know the Divine Principle, we need to
develop the faculty that enables us to
perceive the Divine Principle, the birth
of Christ in consciousness.
Christ is the saving
aspect of Truth, the Messiah.
It's what makes the Divine creation
(10:01):
comprehensive to human consciousness.
Without it, there's no
way of us Knowing the Truth.
Swami, how will we begin to separate the
wheat from the tares?
Yeah, I like the command in the Bible,
repent, which means think differently.
(10:21):
Know the difference between
mental-material and Spiritual.
Divide and conquer
before you unite and stand.
Learning how to reject the absorption of
world thought and how to
reflect the Divine Idea.
We do the opposite when we think we're
here because mental-material
(10:43):
absorbs and Spirit reflects.
When our identity is physical or even
physical and mental, we are in constant
search mode, continuously drawing in,
seeking external reinforcement.
Once we have overcome this belief in a
(11:04):
mortal sense of self and our identity
shifts from mental-material to Spiritual,
now Spirit reflects.
The process of thinking is
taking in and pushing out.
Action and reaction, cause and effect.
When we stop thinking, we stop the mist
(11:26):
or veil producing the
illusion of separation.
As long as identity is in form, we
perpetuate the illusion
and there's no illumination.
The first step, stop thinking, but this
doesn't go far enough.
We must start Knowing.
And the second step is found in the
(11:47):
Silence and Stillness
of Divine awareness.
Then we watch, wait, listen, and we let
Divine Mind reveal
itself to us from within.
Now, Swami, I know you always say to stop
thinking and then start Knowing, but what
is start Knowing mean?
(12:09):
Well in this model, first of all means
start Knowing the Truth, but it also
means start thinking differently because
you have to switch from thinking with
your five corporeal senses to thinking
with seven Spiritual senses.
But of course, if you haven't developed
that faculty that enables you to perceive
(12:31):
the Divine creation, it's a process.
So you start with a
belief in the Divine creation.
You have to have the mental landscape
that will support the Divine Principle.
When you're starting out having a belief
in the Divine creation and doing your
very best to be a faithful witness to
(12:53):
what is invisible and intangible to your
awareness can be a little bit of a
challenge until you are
able to control how you think.
And then eventually you stop thinking,
but at the same time, you don't just stop
thinking because you don't want to be in
the absence of noise and
(13:15):
the absence of activity.
You want to be filling your thought with
the invisible, intangible, Divine Word.
Spirit is before thought.
It's above corporeal sense to connect to
that without having the faculty that
enables us to perceive it.
(13:37):
We're going to pause right here to hear a
word from our sponsor.
Listeners, we'll be back
with you in just a few moments.

Welcome back.
For those of you just joining us, you're
listening to The Voice of Yoga, and we
are Talking Consciousness.
We have a sound by here from Herb Fitch
(14:40):
from his Realization of Oneness, class
33B, and this should give us some
methodology on how to
accept Christ and Know the Truth.
And if anybody is interested in the full
audio file or the complete program, you
can get this at
mysticalprincipals.com, and I'll play it.
(15:02):
The very same Judas who would betray us,
no matter how he tries, no matter how
corporeality tries to betray you, no
matter how it attacks, it
is totally without power.
It may seem to have
power, but it has no power.
Now I come to Thee.
I come to Thee.
And these things I speak in the world,
that they might have my
(15:22):
joy fulfilled in them.
And the joy of Christ is the activity of
the Father in Christ.
And so when the Christ says, "I speak
these things in the world," though I am
not in it, that they might have the joy
that I have, that joy is to know that you
are not in a dying world.
You are not in a dying form.
And these words are spoken for you to
(15:43):
know that you are not in a dying form.
And you are not in a
world that can be destroyed.
You are not in it.
You are in heaven on earth.
And Christ in you can reveal that to you.
I have given them thy word, and the world
hath hated them, because they are not of
the world, even as I am not of the world.
(16:04):
Now then the disciples
are not of the world.
They are in the world.
In it, but not of it.
They have at least learned
that they are another substance.
They think they are in the world, but
they know they are not of the world.
They think that they are in the flesh,
and that in some way they are of God.
They are in an ambivalence.
You cannot be in the flesh and of God.
(16:26):
You really cannot be in the world at all.
You cannot be of the world at all.
You can think you are.
The disciples are still under the belief
that they are in it, although they have
learned they are not of it.
We could say that we are under the
knowledge now that we
are neither in it or of it.
We are not between two worlds.
We were between two worlds when we were
(16:47):
in that level of consciousness.
But when you know that you are the
Christ, you cannot be between two worlds.
You are between two worlds when you
haven't yet learned your identity.
When you learn it, you
are not between two worlds.
You are in the kingdom of God, because
Christ is never out
of the kingdom of God.
How can you be not in the kingdom of God
if your name is Christ?
(17:08):
Now there is a big question, and even
though unspoken, it is on every mind.
But it is answered because before you
shall ask, I shall answer.
And the fifteenth verse answers that big
question that you are not speaking.
You are even fumbling to find the
question when the answer already comes.
I pray not that thou shouldst take them
out of the world, but thou
shouldst keep them from the evil.
(17:31):
I Christ do not petition God to take my
disciples out of the world,
but to keep them from evil.
What would that mean?
This is the answer to the big question we
are trying to frame in our minds.
How do I become
conscious that I am Christ?
And here is the answer.
Stay in the world.
I Christ do not ask the Father to take my
(17:51):
disciples out of the world,
but to keep them from evil.
And so this is the method.
The Christ does not even say, "Father,
keep evil from them."
It says, "Keep them from evil."
And there is a distinction.
In the world we will meet
evil in many, many forms.
But I Christ in you, through the Father
coming through I
Christ, keeps you from evil.
(18:13):
So then, this is your training school.
You must walk amidst the evil.
You cannot go into
seclusion and expect to find Christ.
It isn't done that way.
Christ comes by your walking in the midst
of evil and seeing the Good.
Christ comes by your walking in the midst
of the suffering and seeing the Health.
Christ comes by your walking in the midst
(18:34):
of death and seeing the Life.
In other words, you must walk
through the evil of the earth.
That is the training.
Anyone can be good if
there is no bad around.
Anyone can believe in
Christ if there is no temptation.
And then we don't go high enough.
We don't go beyond just
the intellectual belief.
We must walk on the earth converting.
(18:55):
All that comes to us, and
the word is reconciling.
Reconciling all that we see to the
invisible Christ in yourself.
I think it becomes more and more apparent
that if we are not healing the sick,
reforming sin or raising the dead,
preaching the gospel, which is the
(19:16):
message of the Christ, we have to know we
are not conscious of
this Divine Principle.
As James said, "faith
without works is dead."
Spirit is a demonstrable Principle, and
it testifies with deeds, not words.
To help us understand the importance of
(19:38):
this statement I just made, I have
something from Science and Health with
Key to the Scriptures, page
330:11-18, and I'll read it.
"God is infinite, the only Life
substance, Spirit or Soul, the only
intelligence of the
universe including man.
(19:59):
Eye (E-Y-E, not I, person) hath neither
seen God nor his image and likeness.
Neither God nor the perfect man can be
discerned by the material senses.
The individuality of Spirit or the
infinite is unknown, and thus a knowledge
(20:22):
of it is left either to human conjecture
or to the revelation of Divine Science."
End of quote.
And so if you are not getting this
coincidence between the human and the
Divine, then you have to know what you're
doing or working with
is human conjecture.
(20:43):
We're working with the mind that can't
bring forth the Divine image and ask it
to do what it's incapable of doing.
Swami, just a curiosity about
something you had just read.
Neither God nor the perfect man can be
discerned by the material senses.
Can you just explain to us
(21:03):
what is meant by the perfect man?
Well, in Truth, there's only One Life.
And so the idea of God and
man is Principle and idea.
When Mary Baker Eddy says, "Man is the
reflection of the Divine," on a very
simplistic level, reflection is Mind
(21:26):
considering its own content.
There's only One Life.
As Paul told us, "Ye are dead, and your
Life is hid with Christ in God."
This mental-material
world of energy isn't life.
It's a concept, a thought or an
appearance about what's really here.
(21:49):
And so we need this Mind of Christ in
order to Know the Truth that will
liberate us from the belief in this
temporary sense of life.
It's very easy to think you're Spiritual.
It's easy to think you know the Truth.
And that's why Mary Baker Eddy puts this
(22:10):
very clear distinction between human
conjecture, which does not demonstrate or
reveal the Divine creation, all of our
human good intentions, concepts,
theories, and beliefs that have no
dominion over the appearance.
(22:31):
We have another passage here from Science
and Health with Key to the Scriptures.
This is from page 331:1-10
, and I'll read it.
"God is Divine Life, and Life is no more
confined to the forms which reflect it
than substance is in its shadow.
If life were in mortal man or material
(22:53):
things, it would be subject to their
limitations and would end in death.
Life is Mind.
The Creator reflected in His creations.
If He dwelt within what He creates, God
would not be reflected but absorbed, and
the science of being would be forever
lost through a mortal sense which falsely
(23:14):
testifies to a beginning and an end."
End of the passage.
Swami, your thoughts about this.
What she's writing here is exactly what
we want to focus on, this idea of
transferring allegiance
from creation to the Creator.
The idea of Spirit reflects.
(23:36):
And if the Divine Principle was in
creation, that would be absorbed.
This is exactly what happens to us who
think we are finite mortal beings,
forever lost through a mortal sense which
falsely testifies to a
beginning and an end.
(23:58):
We're in the cycle of death and rebirth,
and this will go on
indefinitely until we Know the Truth.
And in order for us to Know this Truth,
like Herb Fitch says, we have to start
practicing knowing who we really are.
You have to develop the faculty that will
(24:18):
enable you to demonstrate the Principle.
Swami, would you give us your insights on
how maybe you put off the old man?
Well, I start by generating a mental
image to help rise into a larger sense of
self, which is letting go of a personal
(24:40):
sense of self inform on the planet, into
the impersonal Immortal
Self, not in the world.
To change things into thoughts or rise
into what I call the body of Christ,
symbolized by the man, the
(25:00):
bull, the lion and the eagle.
The image created is a mental
image, but this is step one.
This is the step I find to be missing.
As Mary Baker Eddy wrote, a proper sense
of the infinite is part of educating
thought up to Spiritual apprehension.
(25:21):
Rising into seven personal planets gives
tangibility to the Infinite Idea and
direction to the individual enabling them
to link the form to the image.
It reminds me of wiring a circuit,
putting the right wire on the right
(25:43):
terminal, a schematic to shift identity
from physical to mental with scientific
certainty, not guesswork.
As Bicknell Young wrote,
if you have one physically,
you have one Spiritually.
And now we learn there's a middle step.
(26:04):
If you have one
physically, you have one mentally.
And as Mrs.
Eddy says,
resolves things into thoughts and
exchanges the objects of
sense for the Divine Idea.
So maybe this is the missing piece.
Seven churches in Revelation, seven words
(26:26):
for God in Christian Science, seven
chakras in Yoga, seven days of the week,
seven notes in music,
seven personal planets.
Let's see if it fits. 12 tribes of Israel
and 12 stones in Revelation.
12 signs of the zodiac, 12 systems of the
(26:50):
physical body, 12 attributes of the
astral-mental body, 12 tones in music.
First link the body to the mind with the
correct information before
exchanging the form for the Life.
Swami what changes can we expect when we
(27:11):
shift our identity from
mental-material to Spiritual?
Well, you got to remember
that Spirit is not in time.
It's not in space.
There's no concept theory.
There's no form, matter, belief.
There's no thinking, no
(27:32):
human will or personal sense.
Spirit is everywhere always.
It's Perfect, Whole.
It's complete.
There's no trying, striving, struggling,
seeking, planning, or asking.
In Divine Truth, you rest in the
(27:52):
knowledge and you let
the Lord build the house.
Because if you do it with your will and
personal sense, it can
be done for good or bad.
Even if it's done for good, it has a
complimentary
unmanifested bad part coming with it.
(28:12):
That's the nature of the beast.
You're under the law of karma.
When the Lord builds the house, Divine
Mind thinks in terms of the Absolute.
It is pure, unadulterated,
Perfect Life without opposite.
There isn't anything that we can do
(28:33):
humanly that could match
the Perfection of Divine Mind.
So why waste your time trying to figure
out how the unreal became real when all
you really want to do is give up the
belief in this false sense of a good and
(28:54):
evil world of energy and rest in the
knowledge that Life is Perfect and it is
the Father within that does the work.
And it's a matter of transferring your
allegiance from creation to the Creator,
from the shadow to the light.
