Today David begins by sharing his personal story of growing up with family members with Borderline Personality Disorder, how he experienced multiple concussions and a suicide attempt while playing football at the University of Utah, and facing his own mental health struggles which led to pursuing a master's in counseling psychology and a desire to help others. David has become an expert in his field and has worked with kids, teens, and families in mental health for over 25 years, specializing in working with teens. He shares how the youth he worked with helped come up with the term Social Health, how he created the first Social Health Curriculum for Herriman High School (Utah), and how strengthening social health is key to strengthening mental health for our youth. He shares about his new book Youth of the Nation, how it focuses on Social Health and can help parents, educators, and anyone who has interest in supporting the mental health of young people.

David was born and raised in Carlsbad, California. He has been a crisis counselor, behavioral specialist, and has a private practice as a licensed marriage and family therapist specializing in helping families, kids, teens and young adults. He is the host of OG Therapy Podcast and has a Ted Talk on parent-teen relationships. He is the creator and one of the teachers at Herriman High School of the first Social Health Curriculum. David gives social health presentations and trainings to schools, communities and businesses and teaches them social health tools to improve their mental health.
