Support Hope In Him Today here.  Join Gary Miller in this episode of Hope In Him Today where he explores the essence of God's will in our lives, inspired by the book The Forge by St. José María Escrivá. The Forge, a part of a trilogy that includes The Way and Furrow, is a collection of proverbs-style wisdom.

Moving into the core of the episode, Miller reflects on a profound message from the book: The distinguishing feature of your life should be your love for God's will. He expounds on this, posing the question — what if people recognize you for your love for God's will, over and above your professional and personal achievements?

This episode delves into the complexity of accepting God's will, especially during the challenging times when God's will may not align with our own desires. But as Miller reminds us, if we truly believe in divine wisdom, we are indeed loving God's will. Our alignment with his plan brings us closer to happiness and peace, even when life gets tough.

So, tune in to this three-minute devotional, and let us strive together to make loving God's will our distinguishing feature. Join Gary in his simple but powerful prayer for the strength to love God's will more today. Support Hope In Him Today here.

(00:01):
Hey there, friends. Gary Miller here. This is Hoping Hymn Today.
Welcome back to a three-minute devotional with us. And today I'm going to share
with you something I heard yesterday, but then read today about the will of
God that I just thought was so good.
I thought you guys would appreciate it. This is actually from a book called The Forge.

(00:22):
And The Forge kind of sits in a stack of books. There was three of them.
There was The Way, Furrow, and then The Forge.
These books are, each one of them is kind of a collection of Proverbs-style
wisdom, these short little blurbs.
And this is brought to us by St. José María Escrivá, who was the founder of Opus Dei.

(00:48):
Amazing guy, and I love his work.
And I've read through these over the years many times.
You can get a copy of all three of them kind of in one bound paperback book.
I'll have it linked in the show notes. It's so good.
But in this section of The Forge, there's a section in the book titled Dazzled,

(01:09):
and it has a number of sort of little proverbial wisdom nuggets in there.
And here's the one on loving the will of God.
It says it would be good if it could be said of you that the distinguishing
feature of your life was loving God's will.
How good is that? I love that. It would be good if it could be said of you and

(01:32):
me that the distinguishing feature of your life was loving God's will.
Wouldn't that be cool if people could say, you know, of all the things you do,
you know, of your job and your title, your business success,
your fitness, your kids, you know, all these things.
But what if it was said that, you know, all those things are awesome,

(01:56):
but the most distinguishing feature, like the top line item,
is that you love God's will, no matter what it might be.
Because sometimes we don't love the will of God, right?
Like the will of God in our lives, in some moments we're going,
God, I did not sign up for this. Like, this is crazy.
Like, I don't want this. And yet he's working all things together,

(02:16):
as Romans 8, 28 would say, right? He's working all things together for good.
If we know that and really believe it, which by the way is not easy to do,
then we are in fact loving God's will.
And the more we seem to love God's will, the more we get aligned with his plan.
And the more aligned we are with his plan, the happier we can be,
even when things are super hard or super difficult.

(02:39):
If we're not happy, at least we can have a little bit more peace.
At least we won't maybe wrestle with it all and fight it all so much.
Maybe we'll be more pliable in the hands of the master. Does that make sense?
So if it would be good, it would be good if it was said of you and I that our
distinguishing feature was that we loved God's will.

(03:00):
Let's lean into the secret place and maybe the prayer is simple.
Father, in the name of Jesus, help me to love your will more today.
I'll see you next time.
