Celebrating 211 years of transformation! Gates, NY has evolved from a quaint rural area to a vibrant community, guided by leaders such as the current Supervisor, Cosmo Giunta, and a dedicated town board, along with their predecessors. Today, we're proud to honor two exceptional figures, Bill Gillette and Jim VanBrederode, whose tireless efforts have significantly shaped our town.
Bill Gillette, a respected local and retired police officer, has dedicated over 30 years to enhancing Gates’ quality of life while preserving our rich heritage. His work has been crucial in maintaining our town’s unique character through times of change and growth.
Jim VanBrederode, former Police Chief with 37 years of service, continues to impact our community by advocating for effective governance and public safety in the NYS 56th Senate District.
Gates is home to about 5,220 residents, boasting a high homeownership rate of 91.4% and a strong educational foundation, with 93.0% high school graduation and 29.2% of residents holding a bachelor’s degree or higher. These achievements highlight our commitment to stability and education.
