Heute nehmen ich euch mit auf eine spannende Reise mit Valentin, der vor etwa sieben Monaten den Entschluss fasste, ohne Flugzeug von Deutschland nach Australien zu reisen. Ursprünglich wollte er ein Jahr Work & Travel in Australien machen, aber das war ihm – wie er selbst sagt – zu langweilig. Also entschied er sich für das Motto: „Der Weg ist das Ziel“.
Valentin ist auf dieser außergewöhnlichen Reise vielen Herausforderungen begegnet. Die erste bereits in Georgien. Anstatt jedoch ins Flugzeug zu steigen, warf er seine ursprünglich sicherheitsorientierte Planung über Bord und setzte seine Reise auf dem Landweg in den Iran fort. Eine hervorragende Entscheidung, wie sich herausstellte, denn der Iran hat ihn zutiefst beeindruckt und ist bisher sein Lieblingsland auf dieser Reise.
Ich habe Valentin in Timor erreicht, auf dem Weg nach Ost-Timor, um dort hoffentlich ein Boot nach Australien zu finden. In unserem Gespräch erzählt er, wie glücklich das Autostoppen machen kann, welche krassen Vorurteile wir Deutschsprachigen über den Islam haben und ob man so eine Reise überhaupt jemand anderem zumuten könnte.
