Speaker 1 (00:00):
Why Hello friend, Happy Wednesday. Welcome to the Thought Shower
Internsjohn is my name. I'm sorry for the echo. I'm
still in the old studio that I have not yet
set up. But it's a long It's been a long
day today, so that's why I'm like, all right, we're
gonna do this.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Here we go.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
I've gotten a lot of people who reached out about
the album.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
I'm very excited again, you guys know, first the pre
sale for the album will be I believe on Monday,
and of all the information in the podcast, it's very exciting.
I finally uploaded everything last night and man, it's nerve wracking.
It's so scary, but it's so exciting. Like that's been
the last couple of months. I've been really working on that,
(00:44):
So to finally have it ready to go is I
don't know, dude, it's so odd.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
A little bit different.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
I think, like doing the jokes on stage is certainly
scary because it's like getting people's reactions. But now with
the album, it's like you can listen to it over
and over again, and now it's like people can give
me their real like review the enemy. It's not just
like on stage where I might be able to sneak
something in and if a joke doesn't work out, whatever,
(01:11):
nobody says anything.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
Now I'm gonna get people's real opinions.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
So that is huh, terrifying, exciting, all those things I
don't know. And then just a lot going on. Hockey
starts this week, which is crazy year eight of coach.
I think it's your aid, uh might be more than that.
It's a good question. I probably figured that. I think
(01:36):
it's a year eight of coaching and George Stown Prepp.
I'm very excited for that. And then the restaurant getting
ready to open. So we just have a lot going on. Man,
it's an exciting time.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
You know.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
It's got some weddings coming up still as Okay, I
forgot about the problem of doing the podcast from my
house is that Chewy and Skittles get very involved if
I'm doing anything else, they don't really care for whatever reason.
When the microphones are on that they're like, this is
our time, shine, this is our chance to do this.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
Oh, I know it was excited.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
This week I am washing a cat, which is very exciting.
So friend the station, she's go on vacation that she
won through work, which is very exciting, and the person
she would usually have washed the cat is going with her,
So I am not really like bringing the cat here,
but I'm gonna be going to her place a couple
times next week just to visually check on the cat
(02:27):
and make sure cat is good. Now, Luckily, this cat
is a cool cat where it's like this cat, because
I feel like there's cats who are like cats where
it's like yeah, then there's cats are like dogs, And
this is a cat that like would trick me into
wanting to get a cat, if that makes sense. Do
you know what I'm saying. He's very chill, he's very lovable.
So my whole thing is I'm gonna go I'm gonna
(02:50):
check the water, We're gonna play games a little bit,
and then beyond my merry way. And I was telling
my mom about it, She's like, well, why don't you
just bring the cat to your place. I'm like, I
don't think Skittle, my Border Collie, and a cat would
go all together. I think he would go well with
a kiddie, like a kitten, something that's his, like an
actual cat. So when Molly's mom used to watch Skittles,
(03:12):
they have cats in their house and Skittles apparently would
go crazy for the cats. So it's nothing bad. He's
just he's a herder, like he's trying to herd the animals.
So we're not going to do that. And then my
friends like if he needs to go to the vet,
and I'm like, I the last thing I want to
do is bring a cat to the vet. I've seen
videos of cats to the vet. That's not the vibe
(03:33):
for me. And this could be payback because when Sauce
would house it for me, I would always schedule Chewy's
vet appointments when I was out of town, so like
Sauce had to be the bad guy. I'm really hoping
that doesn't happen because I've seen it. I've seen cat videos.
Cats do not like car rides. Cats not like being
in the carriers, Cats not like the vet. I don't
(03:54):
want that vibe. You know.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
Fun uncle is.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
What I want to be when it comes to animals,
you know what I mean, the fun uncle who comes,
brings treats a little snackies and is on his merry way.
So that's kind of exciting. It's a new thing for me. Obviously,
I never really been around cats ever, so you know,
I'm trying to think. I don't even think like any
like growing up, no girlfriends had cats. I guess that's
(04:19):
not true. High school girlfriend did, but like I wasn't
around the cat often. So we'll see how it goes, dude,
I don't know. I'm excited. It'll be interesting. I want
to get to this too for your Wednesday. The signs
you're holding onto the past and it's time to let go.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
Man, this is tough. It's tough.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
It's tough a stuff I think, especially as you get
to like, you know, the midlife crisis, quarter life crisis, whatever,
it can be hard to move on from the past.
I found myself doing that too, you know, as I
look at you know, being here almost twelve years, it
can get hard. And I also, I have the habit
of all every day basically I check my phone memories.
Like you can go on your phone and check your
(04:59):
phone to see where you were a year ago, five
years ago, whatever, And I enjoy doing that. Is it
the healthiest thing in the world. I'm not positive, but
I just kind of like seeing that kind of stuff.
The number one thing therapist say is you keep replaying
old memories. If you find yourself constantly praying the same
moments in your head time and time again, whether it's
when something went wrong or even a happy memory. If
(05:22):
you're sucking this sloop, it might be a sign living
more in the past than the present. Though it's hard,
you need to realize those moments are gone.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
They say.
Speaker 1 (05:31):
Reflecting can be healthy, Reliving them over and over keeps
you from fully engaging with life as it is now.
I think that's tough. I think I find out a lot.
You know, it's an interesting thing. I like silence, and
I like being alone, and I think like the mind
is an interesting thing.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
So that's my tend to like.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
When I am alone, that's when the past comes back,
you know, whether it's work stuff, relationship stuff, that's when
the past comes back, and stuff that I completely forgot about,
you know. And I don't know how it makes me feel.
Sometimes I think sometimes it's good. Sometimes it's not. Sometimes
it just reaffirms like decisions that I've made, which is
(06:10):
a good thing. The next is you compare everything to
the good old days. Yeah, they say. If you keep
saying things like we're so much better back when, it
may mean you're idealized in the past and not given
the present a fair shot. I think that's true. Yeah,
there's a great quote in the Office by Andy Bernard
the last season, last episode which I never even watched
(06:32):
the last season because eh, eh, but he mentions, why.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
Doesn't anybody tell you you're in the good old.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
Days while it's happening? And I was like, ah, man,
that's so true. I try to remember that now where
it's like the days we're in today, like this period
of your life one day you look back on fondly,
it's like, oh, that was the good old times for this,
I've been trying to remember that, like even you know,
I get to work trying to be more aware.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
In the last shit, oh we did.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
The last comedy show, Ram said, I was cognizant of, like,
I don't know when I'm going to be doing stand
up again. You know, this could be the last time.
And I ironically it is the last time, I Ram said.
Because Ram said, is now moving so trying to be
you know, just more present, I guess is it's hard nowadays.
Obviously they're trying to a president graceful. If you can't
(07:23):
seem move on from old relationships that stuff, are you
still holding on to what could have been with an X,
or constantly thinking about a friendship that faded away. While
it's natural to feel nostalogic, saying stuck in that could
have been what could have been stops you from bringing
in new, healthy connections.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
I think this happens a lot with.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
Friendships, especially, you know, where it's like, oh, we've been
friends for so long, we keep it going because we're
friends for so long. I do think there's nothing wrong
when two people as friends kind of grow apart, where
it's like, hey, you know, clearly we aren't as good
friends anymore. I still wish you the best, though, Like
I still wish the best, but we don't need to
(08:04):
keep trying to fight to keep this in going. I
don't think that's a bad thing, you know, like people change, man,
life changes.
Speaker 2 (08:12):
God, I love this one.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
If you hold grudges like they're souvenirs, you know, I
used to be like this a little bit more, and
then I think, I don't know. Obviously a lot's happened
the last couple of years where it's like there's no
point holding grudges. I saw a TikTok where this guy
was giving a speech about what it's like to hold grudges.
And he's like, let's say somebody hurts me and I
(08:34):
decide that I'm angry, and he picks up a twenty
pound weight and he goes, I'm not going to forgive them.
I'm just going to carry this weight around. And then
somebody else angers me. He picks up a five pound weight.
I'm gonna carry this round, and somebody else angers me.
I'm gonna pick up a ten pound weight. And the
idea was that, like eventually, you're just weighing yourself down,
you know. And I've always said too, with like grudges
(08:56):
and that kind of thing, to two points, if the
other person doesn't know you're in a grudge, it's literally
wasted energy, you know what I mean. And like, if
they are as bad as you think they are, they
would get so much pleasure of knowing their driving you crazy.
There's like that aspect. The other thing I've always said, too,
is that the best type of revenge is always success.
(09:20):
I've always lived by that. You know, success is the
one thing nobody can take away from you. And it's
pretty black and white too. I think that is the ultimate.
I'm gonna do one more if you hang on the
old things you don't need, it's a good one.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
If your space is cluttered with.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
Items you longer need but they're remind you of a
different time, it may be time to clutter. Holding on
the objects in the past is worse than emotional baggage.
While some keep stakes are special, holding on everything means
you're most likely suck in the previous.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
Chapter of your life.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
I've tried to do this more too, especially like with
like the closets and stuff. My kind of model is
like if I haven't worn it, or actually is if
I have to think about it for more than five seconds.
Donation Ben. There was something trending this week too, where
it was the poop test. If it has poop on it,
would you clean it off? And if the answer is no,
(10:11):
then you know a toss whatever it is. I kind
of like that. It's tough, man, it's tough, like with
relationships and keepsakes like that.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
It can be tough, but it is true. If it's just.
Speaker 1 (10:22):
Making you feel bad plus locking your space, you don't
need that. Life's too short. Friend, Listen, I appreciate your time.
Have a fantastic Wednesday. I'll see you Friday.
