Speaker 1 (00:00):
And a happy Monday friend. Welcome to the thought Shower.
Internsiohn is my name. It was a weekend, let's see
on Thursday, well, you know, owning the bar. Now, I've
been spending a lot more time in the Clarendon area,
mainly in hotels. So this past week I did Thursday, Friday,
(00:20):
Saturday nights at the hotel myself. The dogs. Was a
lovely time. So I went to the bar Thursday, Friday
and Saturday. Does that make sense? Yes, as it does? Okay,
doing the math myself. Fantastic weekend, like our second full
open weekend, second full weekend of you know, having like
(00:42):
full people, not just friends of family, but a full,
full on staff, full on I guess customers what you
call them? People will spend money. Yes, So Friday, sorry
with went to a movie. Saw the SNL movie. It's
called Saturday Night. If you are even a slight fan
of the history of SNL. I thought it was really
(01:05):
good just to see the actors they chose to play.
Gilda and Blushi and Billy, Chris Sol, even Lauren Michaels
were really good. So that was kind of cool. I
wish there was more like a sequel to like the
show over the years. I think that'd been interesting to see.
It was weird to see somebody playing Blushi on TV
(01:26):
or on the screen because he hasn't been around for
obviously a while. So that was really good. Friday night
did the bar, that was really good. Saturday, I didn't
you imagine. Saturday not gonna lie was one of those
things where woke up wasn't feeling that great, A little
bit of the hangover, as the kids say. But the
(01:48):
weird thing is is like I could never have dogs
in a big city, having dogs where I live, where
I can let them out the back and they can
just kind of run around do the thing. That's ideal.
I was in like Manhattan and had to take an
elevator down and you know, walk on the street and
hope they go. That would be a nightmare. Because one child,
(02:11):
we'll call him Chewy, is just a pain. He's my boy,
no doubt, but my man is a bit of a
pain and he would be a pain the entire time.
That's kind of like what he does. And I love him,
don't get me wrong. I love the boy, but that'd
be it. And then Saturday we had the club again
(02:31):
or the bar again was fantastic. Sunday went home sorry
to rest and get ready to do it again. Man,
but this is a big week. This might be like
one of the biggest weeks in my life. I think
that's fair to say. On Friday, my comedy album intern John.
The album is officially out, which is crazy to say.
(02:55):
Crazy for a lot of reasons. I think the main
reason is, you know, when you when you write jokes
and you write that kind of stuff, like it is
kind of like a diary if you will, of you know,
personal kind of thoughts and things you're going through. And
it's one thing to do it as a show, like
doing the stand up show, because in your mind, it's
(03:16):
a one time thing. Once it's done, you know, it's
it's kind of over and people won't hear about it
again or won't even have a chance to comment on it.
But now here we are with an actual album out.
It's gonna last for life, which is crazy. So that's
I'm excited at the same time, though certainly excited Friday
(03:38):
comes out. In order for this thing to go number one,
we need pre sales to be high. So you get
a chance today, really anytime before Thursday, internshoncomedy dot com.
The album is six bucks excuse me, benefits of Fisherross Foundation,
Internshoncomedy dot Com. That's internshoncomedy dot com. I'm excited, and
(04:02):
you know, people asked me too, like, what do you
think will happen after the album comes out? I don't
really know for sure. Obviously, could it change things, I
don't know. Maybe we'll see could open doors, I don't know.
I'm very proud of the album. I'm very proud of
the material, and more importantly, I'm just proud to be
(04:23):
raising more money for Fisherrows. So that's the goal as always,
Internjohncomedy dot com. Let me get to this for your Monday.
The life changing tips to stop worrying about what other
people think. I try to get this. I think there's
certainly times where the intern John part of me, if
you will, doesn't quite care what people think and can
(04:45):
just kind of put his head downe go. And then
sometimes the normal John, a little bit different, like has
sometimes lets the doubts get in there, lets other people's
thoughts get in there. The first thing the experts say
is you can't make everyone happy, so stop trying, no
matter how much you bend over backwards, someone will always
have something to say, and that's fine. You'll drive yourself
(05:06):
nuts trying to make everyone happy. This is one thing
that I've realized, I think the more I've gotten into
leadership roles, like with the show and with the comedy
and with hockey as well, where it's like, the best
you can do is try to keep everybody at their
one knowing that it's not gonna happen. You know, Like,
(05:29):
if you have a team of five, there's five different
people with five different backgrounds, five different stories, five different days.
There is no way you're going to keep them all
one hundred percent happy. Just not possible. And a lot
of it too, doesn't even necessarily to do with you.
It could be somebody else in the group. Yeah, control
what you can forget the rest say one ofvices biggest lessons.
(05:51):
You can't control what other people think or how they react.
You can't control how much power you give their opinions. Damn.
Focus on doing your thing, living your life, let them
worry about their own thoughts. To the less you try
and control other think, the freer you will feel. I
think that's so true. Yeah, because that's I've read that
too about anxiety, where this guy suggested that you write
(06:15):
down everything that gives you anxious. It gives you anxiety,
everything makes you anxious. Then cross out the things you
have no control over. So if it is like something
down in the future, or I mean on the big,
big world events, whatever it is, if you can't control
it yourself, cross up the list because it's not worth
getting anxious over. I mean, I guess the best example
be like, if you have a big event on Saturday
(06:37):
and might rain, It's like you worry about it. Rain
is not gonna help anything, which I think is fair.
Stick with people who lift you up a hundred percent.
Hanging around people who constantly criticize or judge you is exhausting.
It's importing you surround yourself with people who build you up,
who support you for who you are. When you're in
a positive environment, you start to care a lot less
(06:59):
about when negative voices outside of the circle are saying, yeah,
I mean, it's like having a home. It's having a
good place to go back to you a support system
and people who can kind of like shield you. What
need to agreed, ask yourself, So what when you catch
yourself worrying about someone else's opinion, stop and ask, so,
what is it really going to affect your life? Or
(07:21):
are you just overthinking? Most time the answer is going
to be no, it doesn't actually matter. I think that's fair.
They say, it's a simple trick. You can snap you
out of your spiral, make you realize that their opinion
isn't that important for sure, because at the end of
the day, like the reality is, does their opinion actually
change something? Does it actually change your life? Not? Really
(07:44):
doesn't physically change anything, you know, doesn't make a difference.
Let's keep doing you people are way too busy to care.
I think this is so true. I've mentioned this before.
So they say, people get cap in their own lives.
They're not thinking about you as much as you think
they are. I've always said, try to think back to
when you saw somebody dress weird at the mall. Somebody's
(08:08):
just really weird or doing weird things. And for the
most part, you can't do it, you know what I mean,
Because when you go to the mall or you go wherever,
you're so busy thinking about what you look like that
you don't really think about somebody else. I think that's true.
I think that's so true. So for the most part, yeah,
I don't think people really care. You know, everybody's got
(08:28):
their own thing going on. This is important too, set
goals that matter to you. When you're focused on chasing
your goals that mean something to you, you sap care
about what everyone else's thoughts are. I think this is
true even just for like life. You need to have
goals and things look forward to weekly, monthly, yearly. You
(08:49):
have to like for me, right now, I'm looking forward
to I mean, certainly the album coming out like that
is number one, But I have a wedding in Mexico
in a couple weeks, and we have our first ever
live show podcast next Friday, So kind of some big
things that I'm looking forward to that if I do
feel myself in a rut or feel myself I don't know,
(09:12):
overthinking things, I can focus to those big events like okay,
but I have these things coming that can focus my
attention on. You know, listen, have a great week, have
a great Monday. If you hear this a Monday, please
if you get a chance to pre order the album,
it would mean the world to me. It would mean
the world to the Fisher House that you know, the
idea of having the number one comedy album in the
(09:34):
world is insane, but one I think is very possible
based on your support, which is anything I'll be able
to do you have the last couple of years, last
twelve years in DC is because of your support. So
if you get a chance, please Internshion Comedy dot com.
You click the iTunes button you're pre order the album.
(09:55):
It's six bucks. Hopefully on Friday we have the number
one comedy album in the world. Appreciate your listening as
