Matt Thomas and Ross Villarreal of The Matt Thomas Show recap the Houston Astros completing the sweep over the Oakland Athletics with a 8-1 victory Thursday at Minute Maid Park. Cristian Javier started on the mound and recorded six scoreless innings with eight strikeouts, bouncing back after allowing seven runs and five hits in just over one inning in his first game back from the injured list against the Detroit Tigers last Saturday. Rookie outfielder Joey Loperfido hit his first career home run in a six-run third inning. The Astros are on a five-game win streak and have gone 12-6 in their last 18 games, moving into third place in the AL West. Traffic outside the Valhalla Golf Club, the site of the PGA Championship, was stopped after a man was struck and killed by a shuttle bus. World No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler attempted to enter the course but was stopped by a police officer. Scheffler "refused to comply and accelerated forward, dragging [the officer] to the ground," according to a police report. Scheffler was then arrested and now faces charges of second-degree assault of a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving, and disregarding traffic signals from an officer directing traffic. However, Scheffler was released without bail and returned to the course with less than an hour before he was scheduled to tee off. Matt and Ross talk with listeners who are first responders to gather insight into Scheffler's situation, react to the severe storms in Houston that have left almost a million people without power, tell their "Non-Florida Stories" and more on this Anything Goes Friday.
