Rag? Hey?

Speaker 1 (01:08):
How you doing?

Speaker 5 (01:08):
Guys?

Speaker 1 (01:09):
We're awful man bar here. You know I love your
I love your show.

Speaker 5 (01:13):
Uh showan kind of touched on my question. You know
you have Hunter Brown, Spencer, Eric Getty. Now you have
a sample size of their work, Frambers Frambert, you have
Luis Garcia, you have Christian Hobbyer in rehab. Justin Berlander
I think has a player option a little bit of

(01:36):
crystal Ball. How do you see this playing out in
the future? Guys?

Speaker 1 (01:41):
Thank you?

Speaker 2 (01:41):
Rick, all right, go ahead and I'll tell you. Okay,
give me your starting five next year right now.

Speaker 4 (01:48):
So I brought this up. I don't want to keep
referencing my podcast, but our podcast. But the future is
bright for the pitching staff for the Astros because you're
gonna get Indeed, I'm assuming you're gonna get innings from
Louis Garcia and Lance mccullor Junior. You what they're gonna
do with Justin Verlander is gonna be interesting to me?
Are they gonna you know, because his option, his vesting option,

(02:10):
He's not gonna hit the innings threshold. So essentially, what
is he gonna if? Are they gonna re sign him?
Is he gonna go somewhere else? So forth and so on.
So let's take Verlander out of it. You got Fromber,
you got Hunter Brown, you got Spencer Raghetti, you got
depending on what they do with you, say, Kakuchi if
they want to try to sign him to a team
friendly deal, then you got Luis Garcia, Renel Blanco, and

(02:31):
Lance McCullers.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
So are you tell me that Kakuchi and Verlander. Neither
one of them are gonna.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
Be here, We'll take I mean there's a chance.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
Okay, So what if they are.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
Oh buddy, that's a loaded rotation.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
Ye okay, five, okay, you tell me five that five
if they're not here.

Speaker 4 (02:50):
Five if they're not here, Verlander gone, yep, okay. So
it's fromber It's Hunter Brown, it's Spencer Egg, it's Renel Blanco,
and it's Luis Garcia, Lance Pickulers junior odd man out
go to the bullpen bub.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
Or or six man rotation.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
That luxury of the six man little rotation can come
may have to come from Lance being a bullpen guy
that comes in and starts once in a while, spot start.
So I was gonna say the same thing. You can
give me those five for me, it's a no brainer.
It's Fromber, Hunter Brown, Spencer Aarraghetty Garcia, and.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
Rene Blanco, Renel Blanco.

Speaker 4 (03:31):
Yeah, because you gotta think are Getty's already pitching his
ass off. Renel Blanco, you can tell has labored through
some of his last starts. So this will be his
first full year with the team. Then he'll have his
first full off season going into his first full spring
training after or after a full year of pitching.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
No, he'll only get better.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
Now do it now? Do it with Verlin Cocucci here.
If they signed Cocucci back, he is a starter.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
Absolutely.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
I mean paying him a lot of money because somebody's
gonna pay him. Left hand, who's coming here and done
a good job. You're paying him, so that, in my
mind would bump Renel Blanco.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
I hate to say it, but it would.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
And then if Verlanders here, Garcia may be a bullpen guy.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
Yeah, and it's just fine.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
Because coming off the injury, you're gonna limit pitch. You're
gonna you're gonna limit it anyway. And hell, he won't
be ready to win after spring training Garcia. No, Garcia
will be ready, ready sooner, that's right, that's right for spring.
We're not sure if mccullors will be ready for spring.
More than likely after correct, No, more than likely ready
for spring.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
And Hobby, well, there's another guy we left out. How
do we leave out Christian Hobby here?

Speaker 4 (04:41):
Because both of those guys are coming back from Tommy John,
They're not gonna be ready until late in the season. Okay,
So let's say mid July August first you know what
it's gonna be. It's gonna be exactly what we saw
from Garcia and McCaulay.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
I think I'm not if for Kenny come back, he'd
be a spot starter, right, and they may even try to.

Speaker 4 (04:58):
Move him if they got Tommy. They got Tommy John
late in the season.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
Season, So the timing of it is that you're exactly right,
mccullors will be ready to go. Of all the ones,
he should be the most ready to go spring trading correct.
Then there's Garcia, who apparently gonna be a matter of fact,
he was the closest to being ready this year, so
his is going to take time, but not ready this
year because they had a setback. Matter of fact, he
may be healthier, quicker than the rest of them think.
So it'll go Garcia, then mccullors. Now with Urketi and Javier,

(05:26):
there's a longer happened later. It's post All Star break
type thing unless there's a miracle. But when they come back,
then you have the what are we gonna do with
Christian Aavier, who's got there and out stuff.

Speaker 4 (05:36):
If he's healthy, you're gonna have I mean, when those
dudes come back, I mean, yeah, you got all the
fact that we just had.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
Four dudes on the It's like you can't even keep
track of who's coming back when JP Frantz, yes, it's
a bullpen guy, or he's he's a bullpen spot starter
for you. Quite frankly, you're gonna have to move somebody. Yeah,
and then all two of them.

Speaker 4 (05:54):
Another guy you're gonna have to have to do something
with whether you call him up for September is four.
The dude is dominating in triple A. Yeah, he hadn't
given up a run in like twenty A.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
Pears say, this is the most optimistic I've felt about
Force Wheetley. Somebody had asked, you know, and I'm I'm
gonna ask Dana Brown about him next week. Somebody had
made a call what about for Whitty? The way he is,
it's like a light switch has gone on. I haven't
watched him by he seen a couple of clips of it,
but I've been reading some stuff about.

Speaker 3 (06:22):
How how dominant he's been.

Speaker 4 (06:24):
Yeah, he's I got to ask Dan Brown about him
next week. I mean, he's hitting like he's sitting like
ninety eight ninety nine. No way he's a call up,
is it gotta be who you think. I mean, who
don't you want to maximize? Say let's go, it's time.
The dude has literally not given up. I mean, I'll
double check, but I'm pretty sure over his like the
last nineteen or twenty outings, he hasn't given up.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
For the best he's ever pitched here in the major leagues.
When I say major leagues, on a major league team,
in the.

Speaker 4 (06:50):
Minor leagues, he is dominating down there right going back
to that pitching staff, dude, it's the Kakuchi Verlander thing
will be interesting.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
Hey guys, we just had a caller in. His name
was Kevin.

Speaker 5 (07:01):
He said, don't forget about a JP France as well.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
We just you just mentioned France.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
Yah, and JP France, who's been when you needed him
last year, was a grinder and they're coming in and
doing phenomenal things. And he can start for you. He's
a versatile pitcher that can give you stuff everywhere. So yeah,
that's it's a pretty cool thing. And you're exactly right Garcia.
Remember when they thought that Garcia was going to help
them come August September, right, and he had a step back.

(07:26):
So I think he'll probably be the healthiest the fastest,
followed by mccullors, and then it's the Javier Orcatie thing
post what eighty games in ninety games in maybe one
hundred games in where they're full and ready to go,
and then when they come back with this starting rotation,
they may have to work their way in through the
bullpen as well.

Speaker 1 (07:43):
Right, yeah, it's which.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
Then means which one of these bullpen guys or two
are going to be moving because you're going to take
a starter. If Lance mccullors turns into a full time
bullpen guy, well there you go, right, will he is
the question?

Speaker 1 (07:56):
And how healthy will he be when he comes back?
So let's see the first three or four is a
no brainer. So last oh yeah, it's a no brain. Yeah,
I think so.

Speaker 4 (08:07):
Last twenty eight days for Forrest Whitley, eleven innings pitched. Uh,
he's given up just two earn runs and with strikeout
real quick with Kokuchi strike out, the walk ratio nineteen
two zero.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
Don't you have to hope, don't you? I don't want
to say you're going to overpay, but in sports we
do that a lot. But if he keeps going like this,
considering what you gave up. Let's say you don't win
a World Series, but you get close, don't you have
to work to try and sign him, to validate three
prospects to bring him back, so it doesn't just become
a rental.

Speaker 1 (08:38):
I would think so.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
I mean, at least make an effort within reason.

Speaker 1 (08:42):
To bring him back. Yeah, I would think so. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (08:45):
And if he continues to.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
Pitch this, well, we've already said I mean this first,
this validated the trade. But over the long term, I'm
talking about we can get a few more years at him,
three or four more years. We'll see. But uh, dude,
he's going to command a lot of money if this
keeps up.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
You know this, right?

Speaker 5 (08:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
I think with the A which is gonna keep the
money down, but I still think.

Speaker 2 (09:01):
I think the age keeps the years down, and the
money's gonna be still gonna get paid.

Speaker 1 (09:05):
Whatever that is.

Speaker 2 (09:05):
I think it'll be less years, more more money than
maybe some people thought when he first came here.

Speaker 4 (09:11):
Seven one three, two one two five seven ninety John,
John and Rob will get to you guys next.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
Don't go anywhere.

Speaker 4 (09:17):
We'll continue to talk about the Houston Ashros and the
big win over the Phillies last night Right Here on
