These are not clear cut crimes murder, bribery, drum trafficking. As
for the former president's reaction, presidentialimmunity is imperative, or you practically won't
have a country anymore. Trump outsideof court in Manhattan, where his hush

a warning from Steve Bennon House Republicanssome of them secretly want Trump to
lose. I agree with Bannon onthis. You've got a party that really
isn't backing Trump. Republican strategist MattLocke blames the establishment. There's a group,
and you can call it once again, the cabal. The deep state
was actively working against the former president. They don't want an outsider in there.

(03:45):
They want someone who can be controlled. Thus saw the GOP in fighting

This speech has become discriminatory. It'sbecome harassment, and it's kept us from

That student talking to Fox News.President Biden was in Manhattan yesterday campaigning

(04:32):
we got to stop this division.I promised to be president for all America,
whether you voted for me or not. And as you may have figured,
Biden avoided talking about the protests. With wars in the Middle East and
Europe, the US it's being forcedto beef up its nuclear arsenal. The
White House budget includes funding for thefirst new nuclear warhead in forty years.

(04:54):
Jill Ruby, with the National NuclearSecurity Agency, says it's part of a
larger upgrade of our arsenal weapons programof record grew from five to seven systems

Geopolitical shifts around US have made clearthat those missions are urgent. As

weren't looking at talking about recession laterin the year. As a result,
well in Star College economist Tank LewisWall Street did not like that the Dow
lost three hundred and seventy five pointsyesterday. NASDAK was down, so was
the S and P five hundred.Americans keep telling Paul after Paul that they're
not happy with the economy, yetwe're still spending. There are substituting away

(06:25):

There are a ton of variables,as I like to say, just as
everybody's got their own personality, everybody'sgot their own financial personality. Frugal,
some frivolous, some don't have adome, some don't give it on.
But eighty percent are worried about outlivingtheir savings. The US average for after

(07:34):
They all like seafood. I loveseafood. I love seafood. I
mean when I moved here to Houston, I got into hog Heaven because I
grew up in the Midwest and wejust we didn't have any good seafood restaurants.
We had Red Lobster. That's it. So Red Lobster for a long
time, it was as close asI got to seafood. I have not

(07:56):
been to Red Lobster since I movedto Texas, but we do have red
Lobsters. I don't know how wellthey do here. I don't know how
well anything we're doing right now.Did you hear the Red Lobster is looking
for a buyer. They're trying toavoid bankruptcy. They're out of money.
What went wrong? You know, when you were the only game in town
in a lot of places, youwould think they'd do okay. The problem

(08:20):
is they did too well. Whatdo you mean you did too well?
The problem is endless shrimp. Youknow they do that promotion last The last
time they did the endless shrimp promotion, they sold so much shrimp that they
lost money, tons of money. You know, these are kind of dangerous,

(08:45):
you know, during these inflationary times, it's kind of a dangerous time
to be a restaurant that doesn't allyou can eat promotion, right, you
probably don't want. I wonder whathappens for a place like a you know,
a Golden Corral or a buffet placewhere you theoretically can have as many
helpings as you want, because I'mguessing that those places are in high demand

(09:05):
when prices go way up. Imean, you can only adjust your prices
so much. What if, likeyou have all the night where a bunch
of three hundred pounders come in andthey're all getting like four or five plates
of food. That's got to bea losing proposition, I would think.
So. I don't know if RedLobster's going to find a buyer in time
for all this. You know thebest thing about Red Lobster the biscuits,
which you can buy now. Youcan get a box and make them yourself

(09:26):
at home. Five to ten, time for traffic and weather together. My
cheesy biscuit you can get, Yes, you can. You can make them
yourself at home. Skymike, Ohmy gosh, that sounds fantastic. Let's
check out your west flip six tenAnd that was it. We had an
extent southbound west loop at sixty nine. That's out of the way. Never
was a big hu od here gofreeway. Do you have a stall.

(09:48):
This is going to be outbound atTellips and that's kind of a sticky spot.
He's on the right side. Butand this is a big bud that
you're coming out from all that mergingcraziness at Lockwood. They may have to
take a right lane in the nextminutes. So let's look out there.
Let's go inbound and we're get twentyone minutes from NASA one up into downtown.
And of course the toll bridge secondshould start any minute now southbound the

Time to bring on Terry Smith fromthe Weather Channel. Another day without a
whole bunch of sun, yes, sir, we are going to be stuck

(10:30):
with a fair amount of clouds.More importantly, though, we are starting
to get some rain even today, and that continues into the weekend. It's
not a complete wash out, butwe're definitely having to deal with some wet
weather and the possibility of strong tosevere storms as well, so a thirty
percent chance of those thunderstorms developing latertoday. It's going to be a breezy
day. Temperatures today really into nextweek won't change much. We're going to

(10:54):
stay in the low to mid eightiesthrough the weekend. There's a forty percent
chance of thundershowers around this evening. They'll die down late tonight. We have
a brief break tomorrow. Tomorrow's yourbest outdoor day, Partly cloudy, breezy,
load of mid eighties. But thenthe rain is back Sunday, Monday,
and Tuesday. Fifty to sixty percentchance of showers and thunderstorms for the

New South Windows Solutions. Now backto Jimmy and Scherah with the info you
need to take on the day.Hey, there's a union in New York
City called the Steamfitters, the Localsix thirty eight steam Fitters. They've got
about nine ten thousand members of thesteam Fitters. And you know, like

(12:01):
most unions there would traditionally vote Democrat, but evidently Trump has picked up the
endorsement of the manager of this localand because most of his members, I
mean the vast majority of his memberssupport Trump and do not support Biden,
which I find kind of interesting. And I think they're actually talking about if

(12:22):
he does enough campaigning, he mightactually do something that hasn't been done since
Ronald Reagan, which would be fora Republican to win New York. Here
is the manager of Steamfitter's Local sixthirty eight. It was great to see
the President come and engaging with theblue collar worker of New York City.
We basically built New York. Theunion movement has made the middle class.

(12:45):
And we are very patriotic union andwe are pro America. So my members.
Right now, I put out apoll in my union. President Trump
is leading Joe Biden three to oneon my presidential poll out of my nine
thousand members right now. We arevery tired of the situation with groceries,

(13:09):
inflation, gas prices, illegal immigration, crime. We're living it every day
in New York City. So isthere pressure from union heads to vote a
certain way? Well, yeah,I'm probably gonna get a lot of phone
calls after this interview. But likeI've told other people, I don't work
for my international union. I workfor my members. I represent my members,

(13:33):
and I wish every politician that waselected to any office would remember they
work for their constituents that vote forthem. They don't work for themselves.
I see a wave coming as amatter of fact. And you know,
nobody that I speak to likes what'sgoing on in America right now. What
about that court case citizens? Doesthat change your opinion? If the court

(13:56):
case going downtown, nothing changes myopinion. Of course. I want to
see what's done for America. Iwant what's right for America. I want
what's right for the citizens, andmy members want that also. They are
very agitated. They're living week toweek, some of them are not affording
their bills, and I think thingsneed to change. And my members have

(14:20):
basically told me, listen, wewant to vote for this guy. So
when the time is right and Ihave a bigger poll to be done,
we will make that decision. ButI will do whatever my members want me
to do. Trump could never carryNew York City, but you have enough
people in New York City vote forhim, he could carry the state.

(14:41):
Like I said, hasn't been donesince Reagan, but it has been done
five twenty one. Time to takea look at traffic and weather. Together,
we're going to check out the drivebook. Guess do I have a
guest? No, I do nothave a guest, Guy, Mikey.
But why are you worried about that? You got the slinky out? Oh
yeah, yeah, that's true.I'm looking at the shot. I don't
know why Channel thirteen's giving me thisshot here of the canyon. It's pretty.
It's a pretty view this morning.I'm looking for the Southwest Freeway and

(15:05):
McGowan. Looking up, I seethe Toyota Center here, and I should
be watching freeways. Freeways look goodso far, no problem here, even
your East Text elevator. Let's flipover this way and do some East Tech
salvator. We look good so far. I sure could use an update on
the toll bridge suckage that'll start anyminute now seven one three, two,
two tips and two ninety. I'vegot Captain Jack Mike Mike two nights with

(15:28):
a stripy kid all the way Godicfluttered or fry, I mean the general.
I don't even know who that is. I'm a the Generator Supercenter dot

How bad things are the twenty twentyfour elections? What's really happening?
Everything in your world? Here andabroad News Radio seven forty KTRH. The
springs were busy yesterday during the Presidentialcommunity. Trump could not be there.
He was stuck in in New Yorkdoing what he was doing and could not

(16:53):
go. But evidently has gotten somefairly good news about some of the questions
being asked by the Supreme Court. Now trying to interpret what the Supreme Court's
going to rule as it relates topresidential immunity as easier said than done.
But here's Jonathan Turley, Constitucial lawtsporat George Washington University, and Kerrie Urbain

(17:14):
to talk about what they thought theyheard is a part of yesterday's testimony.
Well, I think there were pointsin this argument that should be viewed as
quite positive for the Trump team.First of all, you had roughly four
justices referring to sending this back forfurther deliberations. If they do that,
it's hard to imagine the trial judgegetting a trial before the election, and

(17:37):
if Trump is reelected, you mightnot have any trial at all. But
the argument went along the lines ofwhat many of us had predicted, That
is that justices seemed equally uncomfortable withthe sweeping arguments of the Trump team and
the sweeping decision by the DC Circuit. I thought the real haymaker of the
argument was delivered by Chief Justice JohnRoberts, who was openly mocking of the

(18:00):
DC Circuit, which had this awfulstandard where they said, well, a
president can be prosecuted effectively when he'sprosecuted. That they had this line that
suggested that the fact of prosecution meantthat the acts could be prosecuted, and
Chief Justice Robbers legitimately said, whattype of standard is that? I mean,

(18:22):
you know, don't we have tohave something more. All of those
comments would suggest that there are justicessort of groping in the dark here for
a middle road where there might besome immunity for public acts, official acts,
but not for private acts. Iwas struck by the I thought,
extreme positions of both sides. Whohave Donald Trump who was arguing absolute immunity

(18:48):
for all official acts from colinal prosecutionfor all official acts, and then you
have the Department of Justice are doingzero immunity. And I thought to myself,
well, how can a president functionif they have no immunity whatsoever from
criminal prosecution for their official acts. And you know, Bret Kavanaugh, who
I worked for when he was goingwhen he was going through his confirmation process,

(19:08):
I thought he raised some very interestingpoints. He talked about how troubled
he was for the trajectory of theAmerican presidency if they were to side with
the Department of Justice's approach, whichis this, you know, zero immunity,
this posture. And you know,I was also struck by DOJ's argument
that, well, don't worry aboutit because prosecutions are not politically motivated.

(19:30):
We take oaths about that kind ofstuff, And I thought, how can
you possibly say that given what weare all watching happen in New York.
And secondly, the person who madethat argument was on Special Counsel Bob Muller's
team, which we all know whatthat was a two year, thirty five
million dollar investigation that was driven bypolitics and failed. You know, if

(19:53):
the Supreme Court does rule I predicted, what they would rule is that a
the president is protected from official actsbut not protected from private acts. And
then the next argument becomes, wherewhere's that line between a private act and
an official act. That's gonna befue's That's what's going to money up the
waters next five seventy. It istime to take a look at your money.

(20:17):
Denise Pellergreene is here. Good morning, Hi there. You know,
we got this interesting story about theFed and Donald Trump because Wall Street Journal
reporting Trump allies are apparently making plansto weaken the Federal Reserve. Wall Street
Journal reporting Trump allies our drafting proposalssaying the former president should be consulted on
interest rates if he's elected president again. That would be a big departure from

(20:40):
current policy where the Fed is supposedto be independent. We've got more data

Attorney Will Sharf, the High Courtwill issue a ruling in June.
It will affect multiple cases. SomeDemocrats, specifically South Carolina's Benny Thompson,

it makes things tougher and there wasmore violent crime in the city yesterday.

they're only going to go up insummer driving season. And speaking of
which, many of you are tryingto work out your summer vacation plans.
In this economy, little over halfof Americans are definitely planning a summer vacation

this year. Another eighteen percent arenot sure yet, so that leaves about
thirty percent who are pretty much setagainst it, primarily due to the cost

running for his third term, readget out of the race now our call.
The police chief, Arika car Bryant, told the media that there are
quote several inconsistencies with the package.I'm not sure what that means. The
threat is being treated with the utmostseriousness there co. The police Department has

(30:11):
requested assistance from the FBI and investigatingthis criminal act, and the mayoral opponent,
Vita Williams expressing doubt about the authenticity, saying, I hope this has
not been staged for the sake ofthe election, but given all the lies
and ugliness thus far, it's notan unreasonable assumption at this point. I

(30:32):
for one, do not want themarriage to drop out of the race,
but when he loses, I dowant him to step aside peacefully. So
I think any time you have thesekinds of accusations, unfortunately, at least
in my mind, you have totake them, I think with a certain
grain assault, especially when you're talkingabout a political race. Here, I

(30:53):
think just about anything seems to befair game in politics these days. A
gooding making that type of charge. Now, maybe the inconsistencies of the package
indicate us that, you know, perhaps this was like an inside job.
Maybe this hasn't got anything to dowith a legitimate threat. After all,
the guy has been mayor, thisis running, he's running for reelection for

(31:15):
a third time. It's and he'snever theoretically received a threat before. That
doesn't seem to make much sense, does it. Take it all with a
grain of salt. Five forty onetime for traffic and weather together, we're

me that emergency whatever. There areemergency crews on Eyed forty five's entrance ramp

sure as long sometimes too, butso far mainlanes look good. Coming down

we had some real tries yesterday.Man, if you have a stalled vehicle,
you've got these concrete walls all aroundyou, you want to hang tight
in that vehicle and be super dupercareful. But now coming up from Dickinson,
we're wide open. Jeff from tomBalls got to us a two pointy

talking about this group. Normal people. Normal people understand time people in the

(34:51):
media don't. We think about thepast in the present. We anticipate the
future. But the media can't dothat right because then they would hate themselves.
For example, they hold different positionsin the past than they do now
based on team sports, so theycan't look at themselves in the past and
the present. They have to pretendthat this is a new and exciting idea
so they seem original, and theycan't contemplate the future or else that would

(35:15):
change what they do in the present. So by embracing this lawfair, they
actually betray their future selves because thismob justice will come for them. They're
betting stupidly on this idea that there'sno future costs to them, so they're
living in the now. They're likea drug addict doing a lot of crack

(35:36):
forgetting that there's going to be ahangover coming soon. And that hangover is
when all of a sudden, thepeople you don't like are going to be

They are betraying their future selves, just like they betray the American people.

time here in Houston's morning news.Andrea Whidberg is up early this morning.
She's an editor of an American Thinker, and we saw a peace and American
thinker that kind of grabbed our interestbecause every month Andrew is designated as something
right, some sort of Yes itis some sort of a month. But

(37:51):
May is mental health awareness month, and I think the idea behind the piece
An American Thinker is is that maybewe should change that to lib is a
mental disease awareness month. That wouldbe a good thing. One of the
most interesting things about the Democrat Partyis that the highest number of people with

(38:12):
mental illness is the women, whomake up the strongest part of the ment
of the Democrat Party. Unmarried womenare thirty seven percent of the Democrat Party
supporters, and women are more likely. Democrat women are more likely than any
other demographic to report mental illness.Really not a coincidence. Really self admitted

(38:35):
that they have a What type ofmental illness are we talking about here?
What sort of symptoms are these liberalwomen showing? Well, judging by the
videos we see of them, hysteria, neuroses, paranoia, and incredible ignorance.
Okay, well, ignorance is nota mental illness per se. Stupid,

(38:58):
it's shaved into men ill. Yeah, if it were, we'd have
to celebrate that every month of theyear. I think we'd have to have
that going on. You know, what is your thinking behind why liberal women
seem to be and let's just grabon the one thing because I think we
can best term it as emotional. These women are seemingly much more emotional than

(39:21):
your average human being. What hasled to this increased emotion? Well,
women are naturally more emotional because youhave to be to cope with children.
I mean, when you have ababy, you get flooded with your body
produces oxytocin, which is a bondingemotional hormone. Women want bonding, women
want connection. It's natural, andthe Democrat Party has done everything it can

(39:45):
to stifle that. It turns womenagainst men, making women afraid of men.
It tells them not to have children, It encourages them to abort their
babies, breaking that profound connection. It tells them that their greatest happiness will
be giving their life over to acorporation. So it's destroying women's natural emotional
outlets. And so those emotional outletsthen get captured by the fear of the

(40:12):
climate and by being told to goout and protest for people when they don't
even understand what's going on, butgo out and shriek, go out and
demand, and it's fundamentally unfulfilling. It creates cognitive dissonance, It makes you
paranoid, It amps you up toa profound level that's chronic dysfunction. And
then they go to their therapists andsay, I'm depressed, I can't cope,

(40:36):
I hate my life. Because they'rebeing taught this is where I said,
ignorance factors into it. They haveno knowledge, no awareness, no
wisdom. They just have profound emotion, emotion lashing out in unnatural ways.

mister Tyr should he be elected totry and handle this case and to hand

for May thirteenth. The case forDonald Trump's presidential immunity went to the US

(43:35):
out of office, so there wasno opportunity for impeachment. We say the

our country. Former National Inquirer publisherDavid Pecker remains on the witness stand this
morning. The cross examination began withPecker explaining that publishing positive stories about Trump
was good for his business, andthat he let Trump know about negative stories
as early as nineteen ninety eight,so long before he got involved in politics.

(44:42):
Pecker also explained doing similar things, suppressing stories for Arnold Schwarzenegger and also
purchasing a story about Tiger Woods thatwas Nate Foyd reporting from Manhattan. A
warning from former Trump advisor Steve Bannon. House Republicans secretly want Trump to lose
to Joe Biden and Cliff host andRepublican strategist Matt Locke agrees. I think

(45:05):
what he's saying by that, andI think it's correct. We have a
legion, a segment of the RepublicanParty that really are a Democrat, and
that will all change if Trump wins. In November, Speaker Johnson was supposed
to be this rock grid conservative wasgoing to get stuff done. He goes
into a private meeting and all ofa sudden, he's Biden's blackie. How

(45:29):
does that happen? It is happeningright in front of our eyes. Jeff

the protesters to get out of theso called liberated zone. And then there
was Joe Biden, the President inNew York, ignoring the protests completely,
continuing to fight his teleprompter. Today, folks, when folks see shovels on

it hasn't slowed down our spending habits. So how are consumers combating in

all have to give up the ACif the EPA gets their way. EPA

(48:52):
came out with a new set ofrules yesterday, new carbon dioxide emission rules
for existing coal fired power plants thatbasically will put coal fired power plants out
of business. Rule would force futureelectric plants as well, fueled by coal
or gas. So it's also anatural gas to control ninety percent of their

(49:15):
carbon pollution ninety percent. Wonder whatthe average natural gas plant as emissions right
now? How much? How manychanges would they have to make in order
to be viable or to keep beingable to operate the plant. Coal plants
the plan to stay open beyond twentythirty nine would have to cut or capture

(49:36):
ninety percent of their carbon dioxide bytwenty thirty two, that is eight years
from now, EPA says that plantsthat expect to retire by twenty thirty nine
would face a less stringent standard, but would still have to capture some of
those admissions. Coal plants are saidto retire by twenty thirty two would not
be subject to the new rules,so a lot of the plants would be
retired. I mean, we retireda lot of those plants anyway, but

(50:00):
we have replaced them with wind andsolar and places like here in Texas.
I mean, every year we hearfrom Urkat about the possibility of rolling brownouts,
that there might not be enough powerto go around on a really hot
day. We kind of limped throughlast summer, okay, but they also
said that they've had a problem storingenergy and that they could lead to a

(50:22):
cataclysmic failure when the power demand getstoo high. This is what relying as
much as we do, even inTexas on wind and solar means when the
wind don't blow, in the sundon't shine, you don't make enough power
to run the state. Six'ten time for traffic and weather together.

Now Here in Houston's morning, there'splenty of people talking behind Donald Trump's
back. At least members of Congressjoin us to talk about. Matt Locke,
host of Republicans, writers, Idon't think we're surprised by that,
Matt. I think maybe though wewould be surprised by some I mean we
know some of the people, right, but there may be some Republicans kind
of working behind the scenes in ananti Trump manner that we think at least

(55:53):
on the service support Donald Trump.Oh yeah, I mean there are a
lot of Republicans that we're not awareof that are working behind the scenes,
who have alterior motives, who arecompromised, you name it. We're watching
a group grow and grow and growon the Republicans side. We always thought,

(56:15):
you know, the Republicans, Hey, Trump's going to be your guy,
but maybe they don't want them.Okay. Who are some of the
people that we would maybe least suspectthat are not exactly Trump supporters that would
surprise us? Why? I thinkthe better question is who's not right?
I mean, I think there's asmaller group of the Thomas Matsys, the

(56:37):
Jim Jordan's, the Mike Lees, the Rand Paul everybody after that is I
think questionable at best. Wow.Wow, is that bad? Huh?
I didn't realize it was that bad. Well, I don't think people do.
And in the said, part ofthis whole reality is we're just being

(56:59):
way late by that agenda and withSpeaker Johnson all the way down, you
know even through even some of thepeople that you would maybe not think so,
and that you see every night onFox News or the mainstream media telling
you how hard they're fighting. Well, if you're fighting so hard, ware

(57:19):
are the results. So at thispoint, I guess the question would be
is it insurmountable for Trump? Whenyou get right down to it, I
mean, is the support? Isthe support so lacking that even if he
were to be elected that they wouldbe working behind the scenes to block his
agenda. I don't know if Iwould use the word insurmountable, but it

(57:44):
is going to be a challenge. And in the first term, you remember,
that's really a lot of the criticismof Trump as he had the wrong
people around him. In my opinion, I think Trump needs to bring people
in around him from outside of thegun from it. Let people who have
ran business, let people who've beenin the free market, let them get

(58:05):
in there and get their hands onon what is going on and help him
because quite frankly, I don't thinkyou're doing you any help out of the
Republican Party. Wow. I guessit tells us just how pervasive the swamp
is, doesn't it. Well, there's scared to death of Trump. I
mean, if you look at what'scurrently taking place in this country, that
that is a a one accurate statement. They they do not want Trump there.

(58:28):
They can't control him. Obviously,he's not been blackmailed. You use
law fare. You see the newlawsuit coming out of Arizona, because there
are you know, Trump just poppedin Arizona to a seven point lead.
You've got a coordinated strategy to foreverremove Trump or anyone like him from the
political universe. Okay, Well, like I said, you know, all

(58:51):
we could do is vote for somepeople in and some people out. But
it sounds like what you're telling meis is that it's so pervasive, even
within the Republican Party, that it'svirtually impossible to change it. It's an
pill battle, and you got tostart your community. You got to vote
for the people you know, youtrust, you grew up with, and
you have to vote for people whohave some integrity. We're lacking that sorely

(59:12):
in Congress today. All Right,Matt Locke, thanks as always appreciated.
How's a host rather Republican strategist,Matt Locke, It's six twenty six.

they're doing at the University of SpoiledChildren otherwise known as the University of Southern

about sixty five thousand people would normallyattend, but they're canceling it because of

can snuck that into the Foreign Aidbill, that that TikTok is on a
ticking time bomb, if you will, for being able to operate in the

(01:12:09):
United States unless they get rid oftheir Chinese ownership, the relationship with the
Chinese government. And of course they'regoing to fight that in court. Here's
Gordon Chang though, to talk aboutthat and the importance of TikTok or getting
TikTok under control. First of all, on TikTok, we know that TikTok
is stealing data from Americans who haveit on their phones, and Beijing is

(01:12:31):
using this potentially for blackmail in thefuture because it's learning all about TikTok users.
You know, I know that Bidenwants to get re elected, but
he does have a responsibility because heis the President of the United States.
He knows what the Chinese are doing. He has the power to stop it,
and he's not doing it, whichmeans he's probably accepting from his point
of view, it's acceptable that Chinasteals all this data in addition to all

(01:12:55):
the other problems TikTok causes. What'sso ironic about this TikTok man is that
we want to make sure China doesn'thave access to that data because China is
a country whereby they confiscate assets, they imprison executives for speaking out against the
government. So we want to movethat data back to a US company so
the US government can confiscate our assetsand try to imprison former presidents. So

(01:13:20):
you know, I mean, that'sa little love to get your take on
the TikTok thing. Well, firstof all, there's two national security threats.
There's the data theft, but alsoChina uses the curation algorithm to promote,
for instance, suicide, self harm, illegal drug use. And you
know, we see all of theseprotests across American campuses of the Hamas videos
on TikTok. Ninety six point fivepercent support the terrorist group. So of

(01:13:44):
course we're having all of these protestsacross our country. And this is China.
They did this in the twenty twentycampaign to hurt Trump. They're doing
this now and we know what's goingon. Why is that so hard for
so many people to figure out?It was a great point though, wasn't
it about? Yeah, we wantwant China to sell to a US company

On the testimony yesterday of the NationalInquires David Pecker. No, that's his
name. Really, yeah, Iknow, I'd change you too if that

(01:16:18):
were my last name, But that'shis name. Here's Judge Jennine Pirou.
Consecution is alleging that this is aconspiracy, which means it involves more than
two people to promote or effect anelection by unlawful means. Any prosecutor knows
that the most important witness is thefirst witness. David Pecker was not a

(01:16:40):
significant witness for the prosecution. AndI'll tell you why, because there is
no crime. An NDA is somethingthat celebrities engage in all the time.
People in this science community and thetech community signed NDA's all the time.
This is just a way of doingbusiness. So if you look at the
business record question, it says, for legal services. Okay, the money

(01:17:03):
is to calling for legal services. So if they are trying to say no,
it is really for a federal election, then why is it that the
FEDS didn't prosecute? Why is itthat the Fed's looked at this and made
a decision not to cover it.And what I don't like about what happened
today was that Pecker said he assumedit was for the campaign. And we

(01:17:27):
know Pecker didn't have any conversation withTrump about this. There is no direct
conversation, so that he assumed thatI would have been on my feet and
objected. But this judge isn't goingto sustain a rightful objection by Donald Trump.
And finally, how is it thatPecker is going forward alleging all of
this when he said nothing a nondisclosure and noncompete. I mean, that

(01:17:53):
is something that is part of thelaw. I'll tell you why Pecker assigned
an immunity agreement. And these prosecutorsare so tough, whether it's Colangelo from
the Department of Justice and Joe Bidensent down to the local DA to help.
Becker knows if he goes one lineaway from what he's supposed to say,
his butt is going to be shippedto the state prison. And that's

joins us economist at Again Economic Consulting. You know, we're going to talk
vance about why we're all still spendinglike there's no tomorrow. But the reality
is that it looks like maybe we'restarting to see tomorrow on the rise.
And you take a look at GDPand it's gone from four point one percent
down to one point six percent. So evidently the spending is starting to slow
down. Well that's right, Jimmy. I mean, that's what we're seeing.

(01:34:39):
Consumer spending has been pretty resilient tosome extent throughout this after the pandemic,
and people had all these checks andunemployment insurance, and they racked up
all the savings for a while andthey kept spending and they are now.
But what we're seeing is that excesssavings gets continuing to be reduced. The
savings rate is down to three pointsix percent, near a historic low,

(01:35:00):
and credit card debt is up toa trillion dollars and people are paying twenty
five percent interest on that. Sowhat they're doing is they're saying, you
know what, I don't have alot of extra money inflation's going up up
all around me, but I'm gonnakeep putting on the credit card. And
at the end of the day,Jimmy, that's just unsustainable. Well that's
a fact. I guess. Ifwe're rapidly reaching that point, what does
that do to the economy. Whatdoes the rest of twenty twenty four look

(01:35:23):
like if we're finally starting to seethat slow down and spending well, with
that new report that you just mentionedearlier, they came out yesterday for GDP
only one one point six percent growthin the first quarter, very slow.
Inflation was up to three and ahalf percent, So it's coming back up
again after it had went down fora couple of quarters, which is not
a good indication for consumers across theeconomy unfortunately. And I think we're going

(01:35:45):
to continue to see that, andinterest rates are going to be higher than
otherwise. Inflation's higher, and thatmeans slower economic growth. And so what
I'm expecting for the second half ofthe year is more the same. This
is a period of taxation that wejust haven't been able to get out of
because the bad policies out of Washington, DC. Okay, you start to
break up a little bit. We'lltry to hang with you there. Let's
let's look at it this way too. At this point, what do you

(01:36:10):
think the chances are that we're gonnahave a twenty twenty four recession sometime during
the year, And might that bea blessing in disguise if we do as
far as maybe turning things around asfar as interest rates and some of these
other things. Yeah, I thinkso. I think the second half of
the year we will have a recession, and I think that what you'll see
is his interest rates we have tostart coming down. This will help people

(01:36:31):
out to be able to buy things. But at the same time, you'll
have issues with the labor market andjobs and uncertainty there. So they're gonna
be trade offs of course between thetwo. So it's something to just prepare
for for you know, for everybodyhere in Houston and Texas, across and
across the country is just prepared forthose things and save where you can.
What do you think happens with thejob market. I'm noticing they're not super

(01:36:54):
big stories, but I but I'mseeing stories of you know, some major
corporations laying off. You know, these are big corporations that probably have one
hundred thousand employees, but they're startingto lay off two or three thousand people.
I mean that starts that up.After a little while, we're starting
to see a lot of problems withrestaurants and bankruptcy issues for a variety of
different reasons. Some of them themare out in California where they they want

(01:37:15):
to pay twenty bucks an hour tohave somebody you know that's's washing dishes.
But you know, where do youthink we're going with jobs at this point?
Yeah, it's something I've been watchingbecause we hear a lot of the
highlights and it'll say three hundred thousandjobs we're added the previous month, but
then you know, the next monththey'll company were divided down one hundred thousand,

(01:37:35):
and so we get these big announcementshocks, but that really go away
in the following months. But ifyou look at the household employment numbers,
they have been declining in four ofthe last five months. So we're already
starting to see pretty substantial cuts andemployment, not only at the big box
shops but also some of the smallerbusinesses as well. And that's what happens
when you get higher interest rates, high inflation, profitability is going down substantially.

(01:38:00):
This is all contributing to less economicgrowth and therefore less fewer jobs are
going to be created in the process, all right, And I guess the
other thing is is of those jobsyou just mentioned, a lot of those
are part time jobs, and alot of those are jobs that are second
jobs for people, right, Yeah, in government jobs. I mean,
out of the two hundred and somethingon thousand jobs that were added last month,
seventy one thousand were government jobs. And I mean, sure, it's

(01:38:21):
agree when they get those jobs.Just remember though, that that all comes
out of the private sector to paytheir salary. You're right about that.
Vance is always good to talk toyou. Thank you man. Vance again.
Economists again, Economic Consulting, seventwenty six. Let's keep looking at
your money as we welcome to DenisePello Greeney. Yeah, you were talking
about the economy and how maybe thereare some signs some people are suffering,

(01:38:44):
that is for sure. I wastalking with a pawn shop owner here at
New York City yesterday and he toldme three times more people are coming into
pawn their gold chains and stuff.Part of this obviously high gold prices,
but he also said for the firsttime ever, these are middle class people

this this assures, this move assuresthat there will be a continuing investigation into

(01:54:35):
Lena Hildago's office, as there needsto be. Holly, Yes, you
know yesterday at the press conference,so we saw very defiant kim Ogg who
seemed very determined to make sure justiceis done in this case. Whether you
know, these allegations are proven ordisproven, and her concern stemmed from the

(01:54:58):
Democratic primary this year, which herDemocrat opponents on TYR basically called these investigations
and indictments a political prosecution and didn'tseem to put a lot of credibility behind
them. This investigation has been ongoingfor more than two years. The indictments
were handed down two years ago.In the cases languaged somewhat, so I

(01:55:21):
think everyone is wondering what really happenedhere, and if those charges get dropped
or not prosecuted properly, I don'tthink we would ever get the answers.
But as Kim Obbs noted, yes, Sewn Tier also solicited the endorsement of
Lena Hidalgo. He did get thatendorsement. There are questions about that as

(01:55:41):
well, since that was done oncounty property and livestream on county resources on
social media. So there's another criminalcomplaint pending on that as well. But
in this case, it looks likethe Attorney General's Office is going to take
jurisdiction over both the investigation and prosecution. And we did see new evidence last
November that perhaps other staffers who havenot yet been indicted, were involved in

(01:56:06):
these communications, and also may havehidden some of what they were doing by
using encrypted apps and personal cell phones. So there are still a lot of
questions to be answered about how thisone woman firm got this eleven million dollar
