(00:00):
Fan. Hello, Dan Hayes,It's Paul Allen. How have you been?

(00:23):
Man? How about you? Dan? The man on the fan covers
the Twins for the Athletic I know, we got a game in an hour,
a little less than an hour.Everything good right now? You're in
a good spot. I am.That's a nice beautiful day out here.
And uh it's uh yeah. TheTwins are headed to Canada. You know,
you gotta three games, and youguys see if they can get the
rally sausage into Canada like this hightech mission to uh. I think they're

(00:49):
gonna try and stuck it into anequipment bag and customers doesn't look for it
at at Dan Hayes MLB via Twitteror the X machine. Hey, you
know, nobody here cares of theMariners, at least those who don't follow
it daily. But winning a seriesagainst the Mariners I think is sneaky good
if they can close on it today, because the Mariners have been winning a

(01:11):
fair amount of series of late, including beating like Atlanta, so I think
I know the team's won fourteen tosixteen the Twins, but beating the Mariners
in a series that would be asneaky good accomplishment. Do you agree?
Oh? They if they pull offthis home stand altogether, first of all,
it's the winning homestand but between Bostonand Seattle, it's the number one

(01:32):
and two eras pitching staff eras inbaseball, like out of the entire majorss
not just the al So they're fourand two on this homestand so far,
and you know, look, theytotally got propped up with ten wins against
lesser teams, the White Sox andthe Angels. But you play who you
play, right, you got towin those games, and the fact they
won all of them was very impressive. But the conference is carried over here

(01:53):
into this homestand and taking two orthree from Boston. They've taken two or
three and the Mariners so far,and they have Pablo Lopez on the mound
today. So if they were ableto pull this off and win this series
three or four from Seattle, thisis outstanding homestand just continuing their play.
And as it is, you know, the fourteen to sixteen they're the hottest

(02:15):
team in baseball over that stretch, even hotter than the Dodgers and the Phillies,
which is saying a lot because theDodgers in the Phillies are red hot
right now, what's the story forthose who missed it? The story with
the kid in the stands and Carloscorrey is home run yesterday I saw on
your twitter feed. Yeah, itwas crazy. There was a kid out
there and with his parents and holdingup a sign that said, it's my

(02:38):
birthday and all I want for mybirthday is a Carlos Carey homern. Well
that's great. Well, Carlos Grayonly hit one home run all season so
far, and what do you know, first at bat he hits one out
and the kids, you know, his birthday wishes made, and then later
on Trevor Marninch follows up with thehome run right after that, so the
kids already having a great birthday. And then about I don't know, three

(03:00):
or four innings later, foul ballcame over a section over and one of
the fans caught it and walked rightover to him. So that kid,
wow, you know, I don'tknow his name, but I was calling
him little Simmy. Little Simmy hadlike the greatest birthday ever yesterday. That's
awesome, and it's cool because thatkid's now a fan for life and baseball

(03:20):
needs as much that as possible.Well, that was beautifully laid out.
Dan Hayes, The Athletic. TheAthletic dot Com is the Bally's blackout on
Comcast, a daily talker at theballpark. Not necessarily, it's just so
disappointing, you know. I thinkabout, like my dad and he's seventy
six, and how much it waswatching baseball. I think it's it's just

(03:43):
sort of depressing. I think peopledon't want to focus on how depressing you
because it's about half the fan basein the metro area that shut out with
this Comcast I think as well,a little less than fifty percent of the
market. But I mean, theTwins are at their peak here and fans
now, I think it you know, at the nine games out of the
ten game out of the twelve gamewing streaking, when they were going for

(04:04):
number ten was when the blackouts started. So they've continued this great baseball and
a lot of fans who really careor just totally shut out, And you
know, I know the Twins arereally disappointed then, and of course it
was their choice to go back tothe ballots, But had they gone streaming
alone and not gone with ballets. You know, I don't know what the

(04:25):
payroll would have where. You know, there's been so much focus on the
fact that the payroll got cut bytwenty seven million. There is zero money
and streaming right now. Teams haveto figure out how to monetize it.
The Padres, I believe, aremaking like five million dollars off their streaming
this year, and that would bea comparable market. If the Twins got
about half of their Valleys payout thatthey did last year, that mean they're

(04:47):
suwhere in the twenty five to thirtymillion range. They cut payroll twenty seven
million. What if they're getting youknow, five million. I hate to
think with the payroll would have beenhad they had gone streaming. And it's
all just super unfortunate because this isa team that has a lot of stars,
has a lot of fun, andthey're they're playing great and you know,

(05:09):
you're trying to back up your divisionchampionship last year. This is a
time when this franchise probably needs eyeballsthe most to get some of the fans
who've lost over the last couple ofyears back, and they're you know,
half the mark is blacked out.So no, there's not a lot of
talk around it here. I'm surethey're trying to not think about it because
it's something that they can't handle rightnow. They they're, they're, they're,

(05:30):
you know, it's not in theirhands between these two corporations, you
know, battling it out. Dan, you're in a league baseball, mind,
I'm not. Chris Paddock's night,I felt was super strange. I
mean, he fans ten through fiveand a third but needed ninety nine pitches
to get there. What what'd youthink? I think that he is doing
a great job, working with prettydecent stuff, but not his best stuff.

(05:57):
This changeup has not been right allyear, and that's atually a put
away pitch, and I had somethingthat you they used to get him a
lot of soft contact. So theAdams making these guys work. You know,
the three starters have gone sixteen anda third in this series. They've
struck out twenty seven. But betweenBailey Over and Chris Paddock the last two
nights, both have worked with lessthan their best stettle list and they had

(06:19):
to work very hard. So Ithink Paddock is his slider and his curve
are helping him get by. Hesaw his bare back ball velofs down,
you know, in the ninety tworange last night, ninety three. He
likes to be in ninety five ninetysix guys, So it was a really
good pitching performance, but he hadto work really hard to get them.

(06:41):
Hey, Dan, let me hityou with a couple of things that I'm
really excited about. The first oneis Max Kepler ten game hitting streak.
And as you mentioned, you knowthat they've they've had maybe some positive opportunities
against whether it was the White Soxor the Angels. But Max is a
guy that many were talking about, like get him out of town, what
can you give for him at thetrade deadline? Those sorts of things,

(07:02):
and he among all the rising starson this team that led to such a
fun year last season, he wasthe guy kind of shrouded in. He
was the anchor, I think somefelt like at times. And now he's
just busting out of his skin. What's what's so good about mats right now?
Yeah, everything's being hit hard.He just seems to have to be

(07:23):
so dialed in to go for onefor twenty and looks kind of lost at
the plate to you know, gettinginjured, missing the time, and then
he volunteered for that rehabb and hewent to Indianapolis for three days and we
got to probably have some scientists lookinto what's in the water in indian hapless
because he got a couple hits thereand he's come back. He's been incredible.

(07:43):
He's twenty one for forty nine fournine with four ninety one band pfense
to ops is twelve h sixty.Everything is just hit hard. And it's
funny because at one point last nighthe was zero for three and I turned
to leave in and said, ohman, the hitting streaks coming to an
end. Maybe he's listening. Andthen we got a little help from the
wind and from Mitch Haniger, whois not a defender and right field and

(08:05):
extended the streak and sometimes you justneed that a little bit of luck.
Early on he got some bloopers andsome Seni singles, and you know,
he's got twelve RBI during this stretch, and he has definitely been an anchor
and when he plays the defense hedoes. It's funny because those those you
know, all those people that weresaying let's get rid of him have suddenly
gone silent again. And the offensehas definitely benefiting from extempla right now.

(08:28):
Now on the on the pitching side, Dan, is it too early for
me to get my and I don'tknow how they'd fit this on one shirt,
the Simeon Woods Richardson shirsey because throughfour starts they haven't been perfect,
but he's getting out alive and savefor the one start against the White Sox
last month, he's going five andsix innings each one, limiting the runs.

(08:50):
He's striking guys out. Can canI is it am I to get
excited? Is is it too earlyfor me to get excited about Simeon?
I think let's lets see a littlebit more of the league before you buy
the jersey that looks like the GoldenArches from McDonald's, because that thing that's
the longest last name, and boy, that looks just really weird in the

(09:11):
back of a jersey. But heI'm optimistic on what I've seen, and
one of the reasons why is becausethis is the guy that really has not
had velocity to pair with some reallygood secondary stuff over the ears, and
he made an into the season thisoffseason, he's tilting a little bit more.
He's not quite as over the topof his delivery. He said,
it's allowing him to be more athletic. He gained him maybe two miles an

(09:33):
hour on his fastball. But whenyou learn how to pitch at eighty nine
to ninety one, and you learnhow to use your secondary stuff that ke
hitters off balance, and then allof a sudden you're more like ninety two
ninety three. That can be abig jump for a guy like him.
He's still really young, he's twentythree. It's been really nice because since
he entered the rotation, the Twinsare six in the majors in starters and

(09:56):
in pitch, which was a littlebit surprised to find it out, but
you know, he's really studied thisthing. The Twins over are I think
twentieth and starters in pitch. LouisVarland had some trouble early. He's at
least kind of found something good himselfdown at Triple A right now. I
think he's hurtying scoreless at Andrews lasttwo. That's a good positive sign for
the Twins. But Simon wood richardsontrying and doing his best to make sure

(10:20):
Louis Varland has to wait for aninjury to somebody else. To get back
in the sortation because he's he's beensharp, but you know, let's let's
see him do this with more teamsaround the league. It's very encouraging so
far, though, Hey, Dan, last one here, Man, I
appreciate the time. No, wehave a game here at about forty five.
From what you know or maybe whatyou saw in Fort Myers, which

(10:41):
Twins players, if any are positivelysurprising you so far? Oh, Man,
I will say Trevor Larnick only becauseI didn't even think that he was
going to get the shot. MattWalner, you know, got the job
right away and he struggled and openthe door. I think a lot of
people around here thought that Trevor Larnickwould be traded in the off season.

(11:03):
And what he's done with the offspeed Atchie Hobert on one last night,
it's something that he's really struggled todo the last couple years. When he
gets a fastball, he just destroysfast falls. He is a fast fall
hitting He's a terminator with that falls, right. But the leagues figured that
out that he couldn't hit off speed, and it really dialed it up.
He sees. I think some ofthe fewest fastballs in all of baseball,

(11:26):
and he's made adjustments and he's learninghow to not strike out and just playil
at off speed. That's a reallybig positive development that I don't think I
expected whatsoever. Enjoy the game today, Thanks for the time, my brother.
All right, guys, thank you. See Dan Hayes the Athletic.
Theathletic dot com beat writer covering theMinnesota Twins, a scorching baseball team and

(11:48):
they've won fourteen of sixteen. Butit's like if a tree falls in the
forest and nobody sees it, didit really fall? In the case of
this, it's really falling, andmetaphorically speaking, it's quite fun with the
youthful vigor of this team around thecorner. David Sinnekin, the head cheese.
He's going to stop by the studio. But first, how about this

(12:09):
The fan along with Big Deck dotCom want to give you a chance to
put a grand in your hand withthe National Cash Contest. Chad Abbott says,
go to kf an dot com anduse the keyword happy, just like
Abbot is happy right now, usethe keyword happy at KFA and hey,

(13:00):
yay, yay yay. How wasthe week of radio on the mast and
never expanding Packers flagshipping or radio networkwhen you filled in for Mike Keller.
It was a blast. It wasa blast to be able to like just
decide, I got a segment here. I think I'll just talk Packers for
a segment and not worry about likeAbbot's eyes peering through the window like pointing

(13:22):
to it like Dame time pointing tohis risk like that's enough. Right.
No, it was a blast toget a week or so of that,
And I had to brush up onmy Brewers because I don't really follow the
brew crew and they were big baseballteam. Is this TMJ No, this
is the game, the game, ninety seven to three, the game?
Okay. Also in green Bay andMadison, they just completed their first year
carrying the Green Bay Packers right correct, They're the Packers flagship station. Okay.

(13:45):
Cool. So you know given wNFL WNFL in Milwaukee, it's WNRW.
So you know you and I haveno hippie brothers more than a quarter
century. You know what I do? You know what I do? I
know what you do? You getset days ready with double Tea and Greg
Popovich time and time again, you'llhave in the zone this weekend eight to

(14:07):
ten in the morning. After theWolves beat the Nuggets on Friday night,
I'm bringing a broom into the studiowith me, are you yes? I
might. I might bring a littlebaby one to the game Friday night,
just like hold it up. Whynot? I might? I don't know,
but it won't be a sweep,so it probably would be stupid.
But nevertheless, you know what goesinto to teach their own everybody's different with
preparing shows and getting things ready andstuff like that. But doing a week

(14:31):
of radio, it was hell orfour hours right three noon to three,
noon to three Monday through Friday,so like nine to noon, noon to
three. I guess they call theshow before him with John Coon. Yeah,
they call it nine to noon. They should call it nine to Coon.
They really should. This is nineto Coon. But preparing for it,

(14:52):
getting ready for it and all that, Like, what was that like
for you? It was I gaveSeriously, I tell my wife this,
It gave me total appreciation for youguys, because well, I didn't have
a producer to rely on. Theproducer was a really nice guy, Nick,
fresh out of college, but hewasn't getting me guests or anything.
He wasn't coming up with talkers. So yeah, I got up at like
six thirty seven and I was inthe meat grinder to come up with nine

(15:13):
segments and then I had a coupleof guests lined up each day. But
what struck me was I get home, because I did the shows from here.
I get home around three thirty orso and I'm out, Like,
I lay on the couch and Iopened up Twitter and within a minute or
so, my I'm done. Imean, it wore me out. It
was even for a midday bitch.Yeah, I don't know what, dude,

(15:33):
I'm not as young as I usedto be. It's not that I'm
used to It was great at twentythirty minute little afternoon see Yes time,
but it kind of wiped me out. I was surprised, and the guy
did give me like true appreciation fordoing this day in day out. But
man, it was an absolute blast. It was right after the Bucks got
eliminated, so there was a lotof that stuff. Told some stories about

(15:54):
what it's like being up here, you know, in quote unquote enemy territory,
and when it's like up here forthe rivalry. It was really fun
to connect with everybody over there offthe Bucks for a second in hindsight,
because you were living in it.You know, when when Bev and Bev
and the Lady in the locker roomand the podcast subscription gate, oh twenty
twenty four and just everything they gotbounced, No, Dame, no,

(16:15):
Yanna's at the end in hindsight, and assuming Janice and Middleton are healthy,
Okay, so we're taking a leapof faith there. It's an assumption.
Were your bucks best suited to haveDrew Holiday and not Damian Lillard? If
you have Giannis in Middleton going yeah, I can't answer. You know those

(16:38):
three guys, well you've seen both. I mean you saw them win a
title with Drew. Correct, butyou've got two Hall of Famers. They
played six games together with Doc.That's it. Once Dot took over the
Big Three. Oh geez, SoI don't even know what it looks like.
I didn't know that. Let meget back to in one year because
Drew Holliday was my favorite Buck,so I hated to see him go,

(17:00):
right Yiannis and Dame, I mean, well he just start drooling about what
that might be and we didn't getto see it. I see I attended
Wolves Bucks here. Were you there? I was not, okay, but
I'm sure you watched or followed becauseit's your squad and it's your wager,
one on one, a whichever wayyou want to put it, all right,
So you remember the game. Imean, Dame was diseased, couldn't
stop anything, and then he couldnot be stopped for the second half,

(17:22):
you know. So I'm like, hey, okay, I'm you know,
but he's quiet. He's a quietguy, man. He's not a trash
talker, but he has Dame asan opinion. Dame has a high opinion
of Dame, specifically when it comesto offense. All right. So then
like I saw that up close andpersonally, so I'm like, I'm gonna
watch him a little bit when Yanniscomes back just to well, I mean,

(17:45):
it just it's like Dame had settledinto the alpha and then Yannis comes
back and he is all caps theAlpha with the ring. Yep. It
just never felt right when I watchedhim together, you know, and it
wasn't. But give the middle thebomb, give Doc the off season to
tell him this is the way Iwant you guys to playing Dame in the
exod interview with Doc was really friinaland so, look, I this has

(18:07):
been a rough year. He's goingthrough a divorce. He's obviously really close
family, they've been married forever,a lot of kids. He told Doc,
I came back here in August.I was not in shape. I've
not got shape all season. It'sbeen the hardest year of my life.
Well that sucks because I commit.I'm telling you right now, it's gonna
be a different Dame next year.Giannis Phels he let down the team.
So the Bucks will be kind oflike the Wolves last year. Like everyone's

(18:30):
mocking the Wolves worst trade ever, and a year later, look, who's
laughing. I kind of think Milwaukeemight get that they got about a two
year window with this group and thenthey have to blow everything up. So
we'll see what do you happen toremember, like when you're doing in the
zone with Double T and Greg Popovich, when when you're discussed we were discussing
that trade last year or filling inhere or joining nine you noon, or

(18:51):
a Wolves trade? Yeah, Imean did you? Because it's like,
for me, I'm going to standby what I've said for years with trades,
new coaches new GMS is honestly likeNFL, I got to give them
twenty I got to give them twentyfive before I can get loud that somebody
needs to lose their job and somebodysucks or somebody's going to the Hall of
Fame. And it was kind oflike that with that trade too. Now

(19:12):
on the other side of it,I could not I mean, I you
know, especially when Walker Kessler wasblocking for a game and looked like he
actually belonged. He was a disasterthis year for the most part and can't
score a lick. He'll never scorea lick in my opinion. But I
couldn't gellowed on the other side beinglike, ah, you know, because
it was bad. I mean,it's like if you're like, let's give

(19:33):
it time and let's let them estabelieve a little bit, right, But
that plays until Rudy's throwing punches atslow mo. Okay, I mean,
just think about that. We arethirteen ish months removed with everything that everybody
is saying about the Timberwolves and thecohesiveness and the collaboration and the general manager

(19:53):
and the coach and the one acoach and how much they love each other
we're thirteen months removed from a civilwar. On the bench at a home
game they had to have with stiflepunching slow mo McDaniels leaving basically at the
same time of the same game becauseof an ankle, thinking he's punching a
drape and there's a wall behind itand he breaks his wrists and he's dead.

(20:15):
I mean, just think about theamount amorphous over thirteen months. It
is absolutely unbelievable. And I wasthinking about this this morning when you guys
were talking Wolves earlier. I rememberso well being on with double T after
the go Beart trade and all thejust laughter and just mocking going on,
and Double T was so strident andso strong, saying what did they give

(20:37):
up? They didn't have to includeMcDaniels. He goes, this was you're
getting an all time player in hisprime with something to prove, because right
now it's going to be eight what'she ever done after the month of April
and he's a bunch of draft pickslike that are maybe fifty to fifty and
if you're good there, I meanhe was confused, like, why is
that such a big deal? Getall the draft picks wasn't positive it was

(21:00):
all going to work out, buthe loved the shot they were taken,
like we're gonna play this way.We think he is the difference. So
that show just has burned into mymind, and I, you know,
I was gung ho. I rememberthe day the trade was announced. I
was at a softball tournament for mydaughter and I was supposed to Jim Pete
had actually invited me to play golf. Though. How is Jenny Finch?
I have been talked to her lately. She's doing well. She actually finished

(21:22):
as a third basement, so shedidn't pitch like Jenny. But I had
passed on golf with Jim Pete thatday to watch was like one of Valley's
last softball tournaments. And the tradegoes down during the while we would have
been on the golf course together, and I'm thinking, are you kidding me?
I would love to be with JimPete right now when he sees just
to get his instant reaction, andI never asked him, like what was

(21:44):
your instant reaction? But it wassort of a missed opportunity to hear,
like, right off the bat, what do you think of that deal?
You're right every trade in every sportshould never be judged for three years.
But that's not the world we livein. We all have to have a
take an opinion and get content outthere. The last laugh this team is
getting and obviously they have a lotto prove before they can laugh. But
watching that first half the other night, Pa and I tweeted this, and

(22:07):
I know it doesn't sound right tosome people, but watching that first half
of game too, I felt exactlyas a fan the way I felt watching
the first half of Packers Cowboys. It was so preposterous what I was watching,
Like the playoff game this year,YEA twenty seven nothing on Dallas in
Dallas as Dogs, It's it's JordanLove's first row and he pitches a perfect

(22:29):
game, and it was absurd.I'm like, this is absurd. I
felt the same way. Yeah, when Ant didn't get that offensive foul callin
Murray let that that whistle has blownall season on. He couldn't believe it.
Yeah, wait did I not hearit? Yeah? And then Mike
Malungo is ballistic? You mean aftercat walked, then offensive foulsgression super easy
as walk to ever call that thatno whistle blew on that play. You

(22:52):
just know, like all right, that's how they're calling this that just go
have some fun boys and yeah, the national the fair now is really interesting
because I right, it's been firesurprised. Well five days ago, Double
T and I are in here goinggod, we think Wolves and sex like
we really think. And five dayslater they're the favorites to come out of
the West. Yes, I meanit comes at you so fast, right,

(23:15):
but they still got to I mean, you've got to prove it tomorrow
night. I spent a Friday,a week and six days in front of
the NFL Draft at Buffalo Wild Wingsand Savage with Kevin Lynch, who is
a former mister Basketball in the Stateof Hockey. The kids went to their
his camps. Okay, got onecoming up too, And and you know,
Kevin played an he knows basketball insideout. Man. Yeah, and

(23:37):
we're analyzing the series and it wasdoom and gloom, I mean, fifteen
and a half points per game, and and well, you know, and
you know, back to Phoenix fora second. I mean, the Wolves
would have won the series had GraysonAllen played a normal Grayson Allen, roll
Grayce and Allen in that bad ankleflipped that series because he is. I
tried to preach into the series. He's much more important than people are thinking

(24:00):
he is. So forget the guyyou know who kicked player as at Duke,
He's not that or in Milwaukee whohe ain't that guy anymore. You
know, he's the he's number onein the NBA for three point field goal
for three point make percentage, andand that really played into it because there
were tight games where he couldn't play, you know, and then they're trying

(24:21):
to pedal Royce O'Neill in the corner, you know, and then things like
that, and and then the scorewould would get away from them, and
then then they hoisted the white black. Well, then this Denver series,
I mean, it's there are somany unexplainable facets of what's transpiring in this
series. At least for me,there is having watched them closely all of
my career here and loving the NBAas long as I and we have.

(24:47):
It's it's I'm not going to saywhen I caught win Stifle wasn't playing in
game two that I wasn't like theycan't win, but coming into the game
with no go bet I was,I was like, I don't think they're
gonna win. I mean, thisis it's what he's doing defensively is the
starting point for everything. I didn'tthink they had any chance to win Game
two once he was out right becauseof the champs and they know they have

(25:11):
to have the game. It's justa desperation factor and the Wolves mission accomplished.
We got our win. It wasThat's why it was just so absurd
the level they played that game withoutGobert nas Reid playing defense, Like what
where is it? Yeah? Imean it was just I hope we can
continue to see it in that place. I mean, if they don't have
their mojo to start, that placeis going to lift them up tomorrow night.

(25:34):
Jokic is like with Joker, Okay, best passing big man in the
history of the NBA and one ofthe best players in the history of the
NBA for sure, never interested indefense, but like either was Dirk Novitsky.
But the thing with like Dirk orJokic or Rashid Wallas or whatever big
player you want to you know, not David Robinson or Tim Duncan, big

(25:56):
time shot blockers. They're so bigthey inherently play defense because of their size.
But we've seen from Jokic the lastcouple of games that, man,
when it's a fifteen to twenty pointgame and they're down by the rim,
he ain't trying to block it.I mean, if you're passing back and
forth and somebody's coming down for adunk, he ain't getting in the way.
I mean he yeah, he I'mnot saying checkout factor is there,

(26:18):
but he has a ring. Helooks tired and discombobulated, and man,
he just plays no defense. Nohe doesn't. They're wearing him out,
like you can just tell they arewearing him. They're making him work so
hard and just throwing length at him. And that's what is so fun about
this team. Who was it?Lebron was saying this the other day,
like they're all big guys. EvenKindley said plays big. Outside of Kindly,

(26:40):
everybody is big and so long, and you just throw players at them
at waves that are all buying inand all care about that defensive end.
It's it's just fun basketball to watchbecause you just don't see that. You
don't see a Denver Nuggets team beingheld to eighty points. I mean,
it just isn't done, especially ontheir core and a must win game.

(27:02):
It's just been an amazing six gamesstretch so far. But I just you
watch JJ Andob grabbed that hamstring lastnight and he leaves the game in the
third quarter, and earlier in thegame bruns and tweaked his foot and he
everything's so fragile. You just gottapray. You gotta pray for health because
it's attritionian. There's so many Okacis healthy, the Wolves are healthy,

(27:22):
and they look like the best twoteams. But everything can change so quick,
so you just gotta grass those fingersat the lotaate there. So maybe
that's the only answer. David Sinagain at tc head Cheese via the X
Machine, is like early in theshow to generate some talkbacks and get going
with the Wolves box. I'm like, you know, this is not Barney
the Purple Dinosaur, this is notPalm and Pond Radio, this is not

(27:45):
Homerrific Radio. I'm just simply saying, what are the reasons for me to
believe off what we've seen this postseasonthat Denver can win either of the two
games, especially now knowing Jamal Murrayis playing on a bad calf. Knew
it into the series, we've seenit's three for eighteen and Reggie Jackson isn't
practicing and he's his backup, solike maybe injury so tough to prognosticate obviously,

(28:10):
you know, like somebody going fromcompletely healthy to like out like gi
Ananobi or christophs Porzingis. But I'llask you the same question before break and
what reasons are we to believe Denvercan win either of the next two games
outside of predicting injury. Yeah,no, there's no reason to believe they're

(28:30):
going to come out of here witha win. It feels like a sweep.
Ye. The only thing you sayis all right, they're proud,
they're the defending champs. You know, there's no quit in them. But
off what I've seen the first twogames, I don't know how interested they're
be to get involved the beach.Yeah, I mean they have rings,
they're begging for the beach. Ican't imagine the Wolves go back to Denver.
I'd be surprised. Right, whatabout Okac, What do you think

(28:52):
of them when you watch that they'rebeing undersold a bit? I think the
wolves love is They're unbelievable. Carryme, They're deep there, They're so
deep, and there's never been ayounger team to play in the championship,
so there's history against them. Butman, that Jalen Williams cat is the
three. He is going to bean All Star for a lot of years.
And he's like right now the thirdguy with Shay and chet Holmgren and

(29:15):
holmry Man is standing up in bigmoments. No knocking down corner threes and
blocking shots and run on the floor. That team is a problem. I'm
not going we remember the games againstthem. I went to the Wolves game
I went to was the OKAC gamewhere Ant got hurt? And uh was
it not? No? It waswas it Troy Brown who got hot that
game? Maybe off the bench? That team does play the Wolves well,

(29:37):
and I guess it's a different timeof year. The Wolves are playing at
a different level. But that thatis going to be. If those two
teams meet, that's a long, hard fought series and I wish we had
home courts there. If they dome, I've started to lay on a
take and a half. I'm goingto make it two takes just to put
it in the minds of Rube Nation. If they're so inclined to a believe
or be listen one, Lou GeorgeDeepen on Anthony Edwards. I'm just gonna

(30:02):
end it right there, Okay,And I know what I've seen, and
i know what I'm looking for,a different cat. Okay, I'm just
gonna leave that one right there. But like Jaden McDaniels on Devin Booker cool,
Jaden McDaniels on Jamal Murray cool,Jayden Daniels ain't checking sga Okay,
that's and I love Jayden and he'she's defensive, all pro guy, yep.

(30:22):
And it may start there, butit ain't nobody going one on one
with Shay Gilges as Alexander ain't goingto lose too many of those battles and
that that would be an amazing matchupto watch. But you've got to give
him some help a little bit too. Yeah, But it's different, It
is what I'm saying for sure, and I'm so is Lou Dort on app
that's a different kind of defender thathe's seen. Loud Dort's a cross between

(30:42):
PJ. Tucker and Jake Rowder. You know, he's just he's he's just
tough. You So anyway that thanthis, now, I do I do
want to finish the radio show withyou chatting about Green Bay Packers rookie camp
a little bit and what you gleanedout of that. Bears and Vikings both
start their rookie camps tomorrow. Andthis is David Sinnekon. He's part of
the Hippie Covenant and also part ofmy End the Zone with double te Saturdays

(31:06):
at eight am and Mondays nine tonoon during the football season for the Border
Battle. And we'll be here rightback now. I can't wait. I
can't wait until tomorrow. The headcheese Tomorrow mine very well be Julie Border
Battle. I can't wait. Ican't wait until tomorrow because tomorrow Cannel Coo.

(31:41):
No, we could in any minute, but I've prayed the mall comes,
but it could be too late.I'm ready as mid It's a long
wile alrighting from Barcelona to Rome. This is nine to noon on the free
iHeart radio app and it plays agood morning to you. What were some

(32:05):
high level packers takes your road outwhen filling in for Heller, Like what
was on your mind with a rookiecamp and and just all that. Well,
the non sexy thoughts were drafted aleft tackle. Is he going to
win that job? If he doesn't, do they move him to guard,
it could shift like three guys inthe offensive line. So that's something we're
going to watch. Some of thetackles be Tom Jordan Morgan on the left,
the rookie out of air. SoI'm saying, if they were to

(32:28):
move Arizona guy or is he deadset a tackle Walker? No, the
rookie Morgan. No, they believehe'll be a tackle, but they certainly
right guard job is open. ZachTom they believe is a great right tackle.
Some inside the organization think he couldbe a Hall of Fame center.
Wow. So but then you don'tmake the money. So how do he

(32:49):
commits a guy who's a great righttackle go inside and play center? Because
they still have Myers And they stillhave Myers. He's got one more year
in his dad. Jenkins, Imean, Jenkins is og. He's the
one all positions, He's the leftguard. I'd prefer him in the left
guard. Viewing it from afar, would you agree that's where he'll be?
Okay, So that part that's wideopen. Yeah. The exciting thing for
me was the two second round defenders. Green Bay added edgri And Cooper,

(33:10):
the first linebacker drafted, and JavonBullard, the safety slash slock corner out
of Georgia who is the MVP ofthe National Championship Game in twenty twenty two.
Those two guys are likely to stepright into starting jobs in the two
positions of need the Packers had.So now you got Kway Walker and Edgrian
Cooper. For me, it's likethe Buccaneers with those two guys on na

(33:30):
yeah, and the Niners with theirtwo guys. They finally have these two
speedy, athletic guys. So I'mexcited about with Jeff Haflee running the defense,
yep, more aggressive, more inyour face, but those two guys
might be Okay. My quick twitchthought when I saw those picks is a,
hey, Kway, it's time tobe more physical. Hey Wway,
it's time to mix it up andget off blocks that guards are holding you

(33:53):
for on five seconds, not holdingillegally. Yep, you're staying block five
seconds. These guys don't stay blockfive seconds. Fair analysis, that's fair.
And it's it's a proven year forQuay And now he's got a young
kid next to him, which mightyou know, motivate him to say,
all right, yeah, and maybethis new coach. Did you watch,
yes, did you watch Hard Knockswith the Dolphins last year? A little

(34:14):
bit? So the linebacker coach hadone of the most memorable speeches of the
whole series. I saw that he'snow the Packers linebacker. Oh wow.
So he came up with Jeff Hafley, and I'm excited about him getting those
two guys with that just in yourface enthusiasm and see how what he might
unlock. So the defense to meis exciting with those two young guys.
And the other thing is drafting MarshawnLloyd in the third round, the running

(34:36):
back who rocked the zero juice atUSC. So. I watched the YouTube
highlights and I'm thinking, the guy'samazing. He's averaging seven yards of carry,
but it's packed twelve defense. It'slike you and I could probably gain
four yards of carry against. Butthen you go back to his South Carolina
runs. You know when he playedstarted he played for both us SS.
He started at South Carolina, Soyou watch him against the SEC did but

(35:00):
anyway, go ahead, yeah, game cut to a trojan. That's interesting.
I thought of it that way,he's got some juice to him,
and now I think that he'll likelytake AJ Dillon's job and be the backup
to Josh Jacobs and comps together. So just another fun offensive guy in a
draft they might cut them, andyou are correct. In a draft where
they took three safeties and two linebackersand three linemen, you know, the

(35:23):
only skill position guy they took besidesa quarterback was Marshaun Lloyd. And I
hope he does rock the zero rightnow, he's wearing thirty two, but
he hasn't ruled it out. Noone has ever worn zero in Green Bay.
So I'm excited just to see whatthat cat Scott what I've never asked
you this Aaron Jones with the MinnesotaVikings offense. I mean, I AJ

(35:44):
showtime. I know you dug him, you know when he was healthy and
he played. What do you think? He has been my favorite packer for
years? Oh wow? So I'mI'm. I was in Barcelona at a
food market with Son Jackson when thatnews broke that he joined the Vikings,
and Jackson was just like it wasall the wall people. He was still
running around. He was psych becausehe knows how much I love that guy.

(36:04):
You know, we'll see what yourintererior of offensive line looks. I
mean, he's gonna need holes, you know. And he's not overused,
because the point was always that McCarthyand then Lafloria didn't give them a lot
of carries. So he's got plentyof juice left. But he's just a
great human being and he's going toimpact your locker room and impact the guys
that play around him. Look,I hated to see him go. They
asked him to take a fifty percentpay cut after what he did at the

(36:28):
end of the season that lifted GreenBay. But when he came back,
the offense took up. And Iunderstand, you know they're thinking and why
they did it. He's going tobe thirty. It's tough to pay a
running back big money, so theywere kind of painted into a corner.
But when they landed on Josh Jacobs, I mean, forgive me, Aaron,
it's an upgrade to get Josh Jacobs. It's the rushing champ for twenty
twenty two. Yeah, who washurt last year and played with no line,

(36:49):
no quarterback. I throw out lastyear in Las Vegas, not offense.
Yeah, he's twenty five, twentysix. You'd think Josh Jacobs is
older than that, but yeah,he's like mid twenties. Are a forty
five seconds Christian Watson, no trashtalking, trash talking? Is is he
the Packers fourth best wide receiver?Think about it when it comes to reliability

(37:10):
and everything going into it. CanI count on you? Can I count
on you playing? Can I counton you catching it? The whole thing
is is he their fourth best receiver? Well? Today he is, but
he could be the best by thetime the season ends because he's got the
speed that no other receiver on thatroster has, the size and sometimes you
know, the third year he wasa young guy coming out of NDSU,

(37:30):
they got some specialist dealing with whythe hamstring's always tightened up. Wow,
if he can get past that andstay on the field, yeah, I
mean I was at the game twoyears ago and they he scored three touchdowns
against Dallas and just sort of kickstarted that season. He's gotten huge upside,
but it's definitely a proven year forhim. I'm a good week and
my brother, thanks you, thanksfor having me. Dave mid Snekin,

(37:50):
He's the Sultan of smug at TChead Cheese and I'm Paul Allen. Producer
Nordo wants to put a rap onthe show and thank you ksees. Whether
it's the bowl go you buy onelarge one topping, you get one half
off for the ninety nine cent mediumFounder frozen drinks, it's all good at
cases. Whether it's Reggie Jackson's ankle, Jamal Murray's calf such a dominating stretch,

(38:12):
I can't even laugh forgot. RyanSaunders is on Mike Malone's staff.
Wolve's favorite tomorrow by four and ahalf games, so tasty, they stick
to your ribs defensive feats. SomeMESSI fans need bibbs on the series.
Teams like I got DIBs and makeit to the finals. We're like,
bring on TIBs, but no court, no cart before the horse. Just
get ready to show up tomorrow, lights and force your knas reed tiles allowed
