(00:00):
Bad common man, common man,No show no solid plan, so they
aren't be can't help seit approach willfail to in. It's time for common
man, common man, common manchallenge the housework was like going can what

(00:22):
should word replay? No, it'snonsense. I'm get today to man.
It's time for common man. Whyshould anybody aspire to be a common man?
An average man? Do you realizewhat it means to be average?
That means you're the best of thelousiest and the lousiest of the best.

(00:43):
Now, if we demand more andmore for producing less and less, while
they have not nations and courage andinspire and indeed require hard work and maximum
effort, if we deify the commonman while they encourage and reward the uncommon
ones, while the andres result ofsuch a lopsided race, as that is
too obvious to require elaboration. Imean it's like hello, I mean,

(01:08):
let me see to you this.Let's say you go out and you have
an experience that's unlike that's not unlikea PGA golf professional seventy four. Then
you go out the next day andshoot a really nice number, like a
seventy eight. Yeah, but it'sjust not quite the same when you've reached
such heights I guess in golf wouldbe such depth when you go low like

(01:32):
that scub below. In other words, what you've done in the past couple
of days is so good that againit may it brought men to tears.
People point over like the double montageon Friday. I don't know how you
can never do better than that, even though you know on Monday we did.
Nothing's going to stop us now, which we've done before, So like

(01:53):
today, this is really do youagree with that? I mean, this
was very good. As I wasdoing, as I was picking out a
song. As I was doing,I recognized you can't hit home runs every
single time. No, and it'sokay to have a single and a double
every once in a while. ButI'm also not going to try to force
it right just because we had acouple of corects. I'm not going to
go, well, we got togo when you're hearts and when you put

(02:14):
your heart in it just for thesake of doing it, that's I want
those to be special moments. Youknow what, this is the way you've
just described it, I'm thinking whatwe need to do is you know how
they they in for football, theydid quarterback, Now they're doing linebacker.
What are they doing? Are theydoing the wide receiver? Wide receiver?

(02:36):
And then you know how the theuh, the PGA did what is it
called full swing? Full swing?Ye? How about behind the montage huh?
Maybe like a Netflix kind of athing. Ten minutes or so to
spread out as tend to b bringsus behind the scenes as it creates the
perfect montage. The rest of thefour or five hours be chronicling the story

(03:00):
of Common and Tennabe revisit some ofthe most memorable montages where the on air
staff come in and sing along reactingten at home stressing over which songs to
use. You know, you're discussingit with your wife over dinner and the
kids. You know you're even yeah, you're even asking for help from from
from Leo spice it up for theaudience while Tennis taking this job seriously.

(03:28):
Cut to Rose and hobnobbing at theLexus Club, then cut to Common at
the Common compound, horizontal on thecoach watching Rockford Files instead of a crucial
game for one of the local teams. So you're taking your job seriously.
Fretting over the montage. Rosen's justhob nobbing. I'm dozing in and out
watching Rockford Files while you're hard atwork thinking about nothing but the listeners.

(03:52):
Of course, then two hundred dollarsa day plus expenses, guy rights,
there's so much material here. Theonly obstacles standing the way is no one
is going to put in the whichis understandable. Let's just take a second
imagine how good it would be,and you know what, that's good enough
for me. I like this ideabehind the montage and then showing how you
do it in this as you're insidestudio the old scores. Is that where

(04:17):
you put those? Is that whereyou put them together? Yeah, And
you're in there working and putting itall together and listening in to the sound
bites and almost like you're conducting theCleveland Symphony Orchestra and you're doing the greatest
performance ever of Beethoven's nine in nineteensixty four. It was in January sixty
four, where you're like the conductor, You're like Leonard Bernstein, putting together

(04:38):
the greatest montages ever. Because peopledon't understand, they think it just happens.
Oh, you're just throwing a fewsound bites and play some music,
and then some songs are more challengingthan others, as you've admitted, when
you put your heart in it mightbe the most challenging because at the beginning
you have to have two or threereally quick sound bites, and so to
find the ones that still have they'requick and shorten, they're sweet to the

(05:00):
point right, and they mean something. It's it's not easy to do.
I don't know if anybody else couldduplicate what you do, except maybe my
son. He sent me a textearlier today and I told him to forward
it to you. He said, you know, I didn't have a lot
to do, and so I puttogether a montage. He's not a score

(05:21):
right now. No, he's notnow. He's he's right now in Aberdeen.
It's his first day on the jobat Dakota Bank as a is an
intern. Yesterday was just the introductoryinternship stuff where they talked to all the
people, all the interns got together. Then they did I guess my wife
told me this. I didn't talkto Deuce, but Potato says. Then
they did kind of a Afterwards theyall got together and and and spend some

(05:46):
time together and they get dinner andsuch like that. So they're really doing
things wrong. But apparently he putthat together. I told him we'll send
it to He said, you know, if you want to, I go.
You know it's he goes, Ijust was bored and wanted to do
something. And then I said tohim, you know we've got a montage
master. He goes, well,no, I know that, and I

(06:06):
said send it to Tennebe. Hedid. You texted back to me,
we have a montage from Deuce.I said, do we have a new
montage master? And your text backto me was he's the future average,
sort of a chip off the oldblock. And you know, I thought
to myself, you know there wasa time where you did be on the

(06:29):
pond and you did it. Wasit every Saturday morning, every Saturday monk
beyond the Pond or right? Andthen eventually you said this is beneath me,
or I'm above this, or it'stime for me to move on.
I have things to do with mylife. I have a family. I
can't so then you you you stopdoing it. Yeah, I know there's
a certain joy for you and puttingtogether on you can't wait to get it

(06:54):
I can't even say it with astraight face. If Deuce comes back to
town, maybe he's in charge ofthe mind, and then you can much
like you know, there was atime where you put together the preposterous statement
tournament and then we turn it overto the committee. No way, you
are the committee, right, butyou would love to turn over the montage
master. If if, if,if they can live up to what we

(07:17):
already have, you wouldn't mind, right it, may mentor him for a
little bit, right, and thenhe'd then push him out of the nest.
Let him take over. Maybe hecould even start doing Maybe he could
even start doing the proposterous statement tournament, selecting him seat. You know,
maybe he could even a new programpassword. You know, there was a
time where nepotism I was against it, but I didn't really not that much

(07:38):
against it. Well, there wasalso a time years ago where you'd kind
of like half jokingly say, hey, Deuce could be the producer of the
show someday. Now, the lastcouple of years he's been getting some airtime,
and now he's thrown some montage together. I do think I'm certain to
think maybe the plan is for himto replace me. Well, let me
just say this, I think wouldactually be doing you a favor because you've
already admitted how miserable you are beingthe producer of the comment. The inter

(07:58):
reproduced the command program for out.Maybe this is just because but there's a
there's sort of a safety net here, right, and it's like, well,
it's a regular job. It's adaytime job. I'm doing eye,
you know. And it's like, and there's some perks that go with the
job. Not a lot, butthere were a few. But maybe it's
you need to be forced out togo to fly on your own and find
out what it is you want todo. You seem to be really encouraging

(08:20):
that. Should we do the montageafter this and see what? Sure,
let's play deuces montage on the otherside of the break right now. Thought
tend to me as a keyword totry to put a grand in somebody's hand.

Misplaced my phone again. It's agood thing my head's attached. I'd probably
lose that as well. I've alreadylost my mind. And if you see
it, do you return it tome. There's not much left of it.
It's like this gray looking thing,but it's really small. It's there's
really not much give to it anymore. It's not spongy like most people's brains.

(09:39):
It's sort of got a lot ofcrust on it. If you see
it, do me a favor andlet me know if you can find it
Wolves, how I can get itback from you Wolves versus the maps.
Tonight on this radio station, coveragebegins when tennabe tap is it's so,

(10:00):
I'd assume it would start at seven. Okay, so coverage it's seven tap,
seven thirty or shortly thereafter Game one, the second time these two teams
have met in postseason play. Ithink I saw in a fish wrap East
or West story, maybe Athletic,a CBS wherever I saw it, And
I believe that in that series wasthat the year we I don't remember.

(10:20):
Did we beat the MAVs then?Or yeah? I didn't think so far.
I believe your Sam Mitchell's story stemsfrom that series. Doesn't not because
I had to guard Dirk Noobitsky. It could very well have. Yeah,
that was the famous I've I don'tlike to talk about myself or use myself
as an example or an analogy orcall attention to myself, but that was

(10:41):
back in the Chadbrero days. WhenI said, I know how you stop
Mike Jordan and I am the ball. They laughed at me. Shortly thereafter,
Uh, Sam Mitchell shut down Darkand Whiskey and they said, Sam,
they had him on as a guest, Sam, how did you shut
down the whiskey? Said? Deniedhim the wall and they didn't laugh at
Sam. Why didn't they laugh atSam was because they thought it was just
coming from the clown from Brown, just coming from the the gadfly, the

(11:05):
flat catcher, the high school dropout. He can't know anything. It's like
it's not that difficult to figure out. If you do not have the basketball
in your hands, you cannot score. It's as simple as that. It
just throw that hard. And sothat's what they did. But they'll meet
tonight and Wolves are a favorite.I think yes. I think it started
out that, you know, whenI looked at those odds, it would

(11:26):
be of interested to the two ofus. They were like, that is
sixty percent chance according to the oddsmakers of winning the series. Now that
that changed like sixty three the otherday, Boston is pretty much an overwhelming
favorite to get by the Pacers.I think yesterday we looked at those numbers,
was eighty nine point one percent chance. Sou And I've received this email
from a number of people. Theysay, hey, comment, how many

(11:50):
people have said, well, I'mgetting back to you because forever you heard
me say, you know, I'mso tired of talking Wolves, I'm so
tired of talking wild get to theWestern Conference playoffs and you get to the
Western Conference Finals and get back tome. Well, lo and behold,
a number of people did get backto me because they said, we are
here at the Western Conference Finals. And I think I said this yesterday.

(12:11):
Ten Tobe of course. You know, I was the one, the only
one when the Wolves were up twozero, asking for a seven game series.
I was even accused of openly rootingagainst the Wolves, and it's like,
well, no, it's just whatI would like to have. If
they win in four, that's fine. But I just think there's more excitement.
There's a greater entertainment and excitement levelwhen it's when it's all on the

(12:33):
line, you know, and look, and I mean, it couldn't have
worked out better if that's what youlike in sports. Up to games to
none, then lose three in arow, and then have a resounding victory
in game six at your place, and you're feeling good about yourself. And
then you go to Denver and youfall behind early. You're down fifteen at
the half, twenty early in thesecond half, and I'll look every you

(13:01):
know, everything looked lost. Itwas it was it looked like it was
over. And then all was lost. I guess what I was trying to
say. Then the Wolves came backand won in dramatic fashion, and it
was terrific. And I think Imentioned yesterday, I don't know if I
could take that again. I mightwant a four names sweep this time.
And you know, here's what Ithink, here's my guest tend to be.
And I'm not a big believer inyou know, I I you know,

(13:28):
you know, jet lag and circadiumrhythms and body clocks and all that
and getting you know, rest orrust whatever. But if you do believe
in that, I get the feeling. I think, you know, the
Pacers are a scrappy club. I'mnot even saying jest, and they can't
win the series. I'm thinking Boston'sgoing to win that series four games to

(13:48):
one at if not a sweep. The Faces kind of blew it last night.
Yeah, And so if if that'sthe case, and then we have
to go with some Titanic seven gamesdruggle, right, you know where it's
just back and forth and guys arejust they're laying on the line, they're
in the training room. It's badwagon. Then are we tuckered when it comes

(14:11):
to the NBA Finals? It isBoston refreshed, tanned, ready, rested,
you know all that. So andI don't put a lot of stock
in that. I think once youget to the finals, I don't care
how tired you are. But youknow, it would be if it would
be better to maybe keep paced withBoston. So if they're gonna if they're
gonna win four games, then nineor four games one. Maybe that's the
way it should be. I don'treally see that happening, though. We're

(14:31):
gonna we'll spend the twelfth by theway, I should make this announcement.
Making his return, Brian Oak willjoin common Man at one thirty two.
Oh Rock ten Brian Oak for RockTalk, Uh, twelve three. I
think we'll break down. Uh.Is only the common man in tend to

(14:52):
be ken the esoteric approach to theWolves MAVs matchup? Uh, But you
know what I like you? Thisis just gonna say. But what I'd
like to do is take this timeto play the second montage of the day.
Deuce, my firstborn son, whoI created from my loins, texted

(15:13):
me today and said, Hey,he was kind of bored at some time
on his hand last night. Iwish you would spend as much time in
the schoolworks as he has on hismontage. I'm thinking about things for the
grum but he put together a montagefor tonight's game, and Tennebee, you're
ready, let's do this. You'veheard it right, I have yes with
one foot in the grave. Andright now Jamal Murray is having his way

(15:37):
a twenty four point first half withthe Old bitsu Aries already raining in Minnesota
with thirty eight points, their lowesthalf of this postseason series. And look
like the moment was too bad.Your Minnesota Timberwalls rolls to the occasion.

(15:58):
Tonight temper walls stood tone to tallwith champions and the way Carl Anthony Tallas
walked off that floor at the leftafter he played the rest of that game
totally fighting that he could barely walkleave him the court. They don't believe
anymore. And when you lose beliefthe defenditive championship play is when you lose
the belief, it's over and theydon't believe they can leave anything, which

(16:22):
means the series player. Did youreally tell them locker room Stafford in Denver
you were gonna be back, Tom, Yeah, they know y'all was in
there. Yeah. I told him. I said, I see, y'am.
It's the game seven player up cansinto the Western Conference titles for the
first time in twenty years. Theex Joe bear yacket shot block it too

(16:52):
shot, Oh my couldn't. He'skind of working there yet metro chess that
that what's goodly there? That soso we going certain and clacks it down,

(17:15):
then said a second, it's stimmkind of pips up in the tool
is it's not to read corner everto gain shops can out. He fell

(17:37):
so less tones there are little tonesa douce spots does auffs Not bad for

(18:04):
a first time, No, notat all. Kind of mysterious spooky music.
I like the addition of the Maxsound bites from fans from the other
night. Yeah, he mixed ina little Draymon mixed it a little addiss
that, Jenny. I think Deucehas a message for you, and it

(18:26):
goes, I'm just in your mirror, somebody closer than they appear. That
a little sweat on your brow there, I'm getting all nervous. Yeah,
what do you think about this?He has no idea what he's getting himself
into. You're probably snickering inside, going go ahead and take the job out.

(18:48):
It's all yours, Deuce, becauseit's all kind of fun when you
first step in there. Look atthis. I'm on a major market radio
station. I'm producing for the commonman. This is great. Then after
about oh, a couple of boyafter a couple of years, after a
couple of months, after a coupleit was probably just a couple of days
and you said to yourself, whathave I got myself into? Nice job

(19:11):
I do? Yeah, not bad. I liked it. It was really
good. So well done. Let'stake a break, Let's come back,
Let's talk a little Wolves Babs.We'll break it down. It's got a
couple of the emails and text messagesI want to get to as well.
It's the common Man program right shareon the fan, two decades in the

(19:48):
making. Your Timberwolves are Western ConferenceFinals bound. Come howl with Nardo for
a game one. Watch party tonightat the Free House starting at six thirty
pm. Enjoy great po food andfreehouse beer and registered win grape prizes.
Pulled details at cafe dot com.Keyword calendar, excitement, level building.

(20:26):
Brian Oak joins The common Man todayone thirty four some rock talk. Well,
I'll tell you what unprecedented response tomy first borns montage tenneby. Here's
one that says he clearly put alot of work into that montage. In

(20:48):
this case, the apple fell farfrom the tree. Why did you find
that funny tent of me? Youthink that's funny? Oh you love it
when I'm getting cheap shot at howabout you let's see if you find this
funny. Well, let's just ObyHeart offers tend to be a fair severance
package after that Duce montage, andthere's everything in between. There there are
some people that say he needs somework. You know, that's not just

(21:11):
turn it over. It's not likeyou know, you're Sam Darnald, Sorry,
sorry, you're Sam Donald. He'sJJ McCarthy says that let's not just
turn over the montage master title, the tennant be just or to to Douce
just yet. I thought he showeda lot of promise though I thought he

(21:33):
did. Yes, I thought youngand experienced. Somebody said, you know,
one person said, here's a critique. Song needs more energy due and
I think it does. I mean, I thought it was great to start
right because it's kind of ominous, foreboding, like it was always lost.
And then once we got to theyou know, just spense Denver eliminated them.

(21:57):
That's when you got to try tochange it to and it's hard.
That's when you have that screech likeyou'll do when you when you'll start the
two different You'll have two songs ina montage. You'll do two montages,
right like when you've done a whileand the wolves together whatever, and all
of a sudden, you know, and then all of a sudden, boom,
more upbeat music happens. If heworks on that, that would have
been the nice one. And youcould take him under the under under your

(22:18):
wing and teach them those kinds ofthings, So that would be good.
One other you can mentor me onhow to be a banker. I can
mentor him on how to do montages. You know. That's we do a
job swat why not? And thenone more email, uh before we talk
a little bit Denver or uh theMavericks versus the Wolves? You know?

(22:40):
Another special segment you do? Youknow we talked about someone wanted to have
like a Netflix special on behind theMontage, right this one, says Purple
Prey. Special segment. Purple Preysays, Calm and I end up podcasting
a lot of your shows due tomy work schedule. I was just catching
up on the Purple Praise Sessions.Purple Praise Sessions. Does that sounds great

(23:03):
the Purple Pray sessions, and noticeTennabe can't help himself in mentioning players with
off the field issues. It's almostlike terrified ten is a blushing goodie two
shoes squirrel gul squirrel gul school girlwho's drawn to the bad boy greasers of
the Draft who have slicked back hairand black leather jackets. How about is

(23:23):
a spin off to Purple Prey Ifyou feature Tennab with a Bad Boys of
the Draft segment and lead into itwith Barney, I imagine slightly off key,
is let off beat singing the Copstheme, Bad Boy, Bad Boy,
what You're Gonna do? Right?Just a thought, keep it the
great, keep it the keeps showingup Ricky the packer from the six to

(23:45):
twelve. You know that Bad Boys, What You're Gonna Do? Oh yeah?
And we could do a Bad Boyswhat You're Gonna Do? And that
Bad Boys of the Draft Kennay's BadBoys of the Bad Boy. Yeah,
how about that? I like atleast even if we don't do it,
even if we send it to rewriteand have them punch it up, I
like that the listeners are so investedthat they want to take a nothing day

(24:10):
and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile. They want to take a bit and
say, let's bend me, shapeme any way you want it, and
try to build upon things. AndI just love that. I love that
we have that loyalty in that dedicationfrom our listeners. I will say,
in defense of the bad boys,I was going after purple Prey this year.
The Vikings did not have a secondround pick. The Vikings did not

(24:33):
have a third round pick, soa lot other than those two in the
first round, all their picks forrounds four or five, six or seven.
My philosophy is, I want tohit some home runs in those rounds
every once in a while, right, Yeah, that's right. And so
sometimes you have to take the guysthat are the bad boys that maybe have

(24:56):
first round second round talent but aredropping because of some the field character issues,
like I want to hit him.Not that Amon Roussaint Brown was a
bad boy, but I want toI want one of those picks where we
have a guy in the fourth roundthat becomes a pro bowler my gass players
at their piercing because we don't hitthose, and sometimes you have to take
a chance. Yeah, and thenif you have a young kid who's made
some mistakes and maybe you get himhere and mentor him, take him under

(25:19):
your wing. I mean, Isaw it with Sam Donald. Did you
see the piece today by Kramer aboutSam Donald. They had a chance to
sit down and talk to him,and you know, Donald was very magnanimous.
I liked what I saw. Hesaid, you know, look,
yeah, I don't mind being amentor. I don't mind passing the long
information. I mean he wants toplay well. I mean, I'm sure

(25:42):
he didn't say that in there, but I'm sure he'd like to to be
the starting quarterback and have his careertake that next step. But he said,
yeah, I'm a vet. Someguys only last three four years.
I'm in my seventh year. Ihave no isshues with with helping the kid
along. So he's in a goodspot, and I think that you he
eat somebody like that. You don'twant to have it where you know someone's

(26:04):
peeking over your shoulder and you're notgoing to be cooperative with them because you
know, I mean he's trying totake money. You know, he's trying
to take food off my table. He's I want the starting job. So
he's saying all the right things, and so it's that's that's nice to see
that, and maybe that will workout well for mccarthyen maybe for Sam Darnold.
Well, it's probably smart from abusiness standpoint, right, I mean,

(26:26):
we kind of look at it asthat guy's going to take your job,
so now you're going to be outof a job. But you could
also look at the other side. Here's a twenty six year old that other
teams might want as their backup bridgequarterback in the future. That we're paying
them ten million dollars a year andseventy percent of the time you're not even
gonna have to play a snap. He'd be a backup quarterback making ten million

(26:48):
dollars a year for the rest ofyour career. That's a great gig.
Here's what he says. It's justhow it goes, right. There's a
lot of businesses where you can bein your business for thirty forty years.
In the NFL, I think theaverage is like three or four years.
It's a little bit different. Goinginto my seventh year now, even though
I'm still young, I do feellike a vet and just being able to
help guys not only JJ, buthelp any young guys in the locker room
that need anything. I'm always happyto help. Everyone's working really hard.

(27:12):
I'm sure Justin's out there working hardas well, talking about JJ, because
not everybody's there at the voluntary ODIs. He says he practiced together with McCarthy.
Said, I was like, firstof all, dude, congratulations,
I'm getting drafted. It's a greatexperience, and I know it flies by.
Obviously getting drafted that high, thepressure comes with it. I feel

(27:33):
like he's already been there in Michigan. This is obviously the next level.
But any questions anything he's curious about, I've been answering. Just going to
continue to have that bond and youwant that guy with that kind of attitude.
Now, maybe deep down, likeI said, Tennebee, Mayby's thinking,
you just wait, kid, You'regonna be sitting on that bench a
long time. This might be mylast opportunity to be a starting quarterback and
I'm gonna grab it, which isgreat too. There's nothing wrong with that.

(27:56):
Yeah, you know, then youcan have the best of both worlds.
But I tend he tends to atleast now I'm not there. I
didn't hear him say it. Thisis all just you know, his words
that have been you know, uhuh uh uh uh relayed to us through
through Kramer's piece. But it soundslike he's sincere and really means that.
And you can't blame right, You'relike, yeah, and you're thinking to
yourself, you know, I thinkhis head's in the right place. I've

(28:19):
been here seven years, like andyou just said, I can continue to
be this this you know, thisthis bridge quarterback backup, quarterback player,
the places and you never know tenToby, I mean, look at I'm
not going to really compare Keenum andDonald, But didn't Keenum come in to
play because of injury? Yes,Sam Bradford, So Sam Bradford's hurt.
Keenum comes in. So let's sayDonald not even necessarily here, but he

(28:44):
goes somewhere else later comes back inand all of a sudden has to play,
and all of a sudden rejuvenates thiswho's the kid for Washington that's played
pretty well in a backup role?A couple of heineke, heineke. You
know what happens to guys, We'reall of a sudden, you're you're you're
forced into a slot because of injuryor poor play by the guy ahead of
you on the depth chart, andall of a sudden you start playing well.
You never know, so could workout well. So Tom Brady started

(29:07):
his correct that is correct, soit could work out well for both for
Darnold and for McCarthy. This man'sclub tenemy. You know, I decided
to do a little bit of research. You know, me, I'm not
paying as close attention to the leagueas I once did, and certainly not
paying his close attention to the tothe Dallas Dallas Mavericks, I've not seen

(29:33):
him play a game this year, but jury's to go to Fisher Reck Factory
West. I did a really nicejob sort of doing that primer primer on
the matchup, talk about the twoteams, how they got to where they
are now, and did sort ofthat player by player matchup, and again
with my end, I'm I'm I'mnot you know, it's it's I'm not

(29:57):
afraid to say that. You know, you know, my knowledge of the
NBA isn't as good as a lotof other people around here, but I
I had basically written Dallas off.I thought, what a pro wants?
What a pro needs was going toadvance to the NBA Final or the Western
Conference finals. I thought that teamwas going to go there. That's starting
five they have is as good asanything, and that's that's a quality club.

(30:21):
But I guess I didn't. Youknow, don Chicic is it don
Chic don Chicic and Kyrie. Iwas talking to big Ticket Timberwll superfan,
and he said, the thing aboutKyrie now is all that nonsensical stuff he's
always been involved with, is he'snot really playing that game anymore. He's
really taking it serious. And Ithink that probably comes with you know,

(30:45):
how long has he been in theleague now? A long time. So
now you're like you start to thinklike Conley did, right, Remember Conley
said he he basically said, asknot what Conley can do for you,
but what can you do for Conleysaid, Dudes, I haven't been to
a conference final since I was withMemphis, like thirteen fourteen years ago.

(31:07):
I might this might be my lastchance. Fourteenth year in Irving's won a
title. You know, you've remindedme that he won one with with Lebron
or at least one. Maybe he'sgot a couple, but maybe even a
guy like Kyrie, who thinks theworld is flat is maybe starting to think,
you know, well, my careeris flat lining. There's not many
more years left, and this mightbe my last chance to get to a

(31:30):
NBA Finals and actually win another championship. So maybe he's kind of changed his
attitude and is more concerned about hisplay on the on the court and what
the team's doing. And you know, there's no reason to worry about contracts
and money anymore. It's can youget another ring? Right? Can you
get a ship? And that's agreat one two punch with Irving and in

(31:52):
Doncic and in Zegota's breakdown, andyou know, he talks about how,
you know, how the MAVs didin the first two round and how the
Wolves did. He matches the players, and obviously the point guard, the
edge goes to the Mavericks. Asmuch as we like Conley and as good
as he is for this team, for his role his role with with the

(32:13):
Wolves, as much difference with Donchicch don don Sitch's don chitch don chitch
donchit. Then what's his first name? Luca? Luca. I'm just just
gonna call him Luca from now onhis role. Luca's right, I mean
he's I'm gonna call him the BigL. Well, I like that,
and let's hope they have a BigL. I mean, I saw these

(32:34):
numbers. Here's what it says.He does it all, averaging nearly a
triple double. He led the NBAin scoring thirty three point nine per game,
second in assists nine point eight pergame and three pointers made to eighty
four. He also averaged nine pointtwo rebounds a game at six seven.
He plays the point, pushes theMAVs with a certain pace. Meanwhile,

(32:55):
backcourt mate Irving plays off the ballmore often not. The Big L set
a career high enfranchise record by scoringseventy three points against Atlanta in January.
He's at the franchise scoring record fora single season. It's also the first
player in NBA history to average thirtythree points, nine rebounds, and nine
assists in a season. Mast forwardand teammate PJ. Washington Junior said one,

(33:20):
I'm a kind great player. Whenhe gets rolled and we play our
best basketball, We're just glad he'sthere every night pushing it. Sort of.
I would describe him as a poorman's joker. I would describe I
would describe him as a poor man'sjokers what I would do, and so
go to oppoicely. It gives theedge to the Mavericks. When he breaks

(33:44):
down the shooting guard positions ten,I will say, Okay, even though
they're listed, because they're both listenedas point guards, Conley will not be
guarding him. Right, it's outthey're not exactly going up against each other.
But no, he's just talking abouteach position. He's breaking him down.
Yes, we get that. Nowthe shooting guard he talks about Edward,
this one interesting to be interesting Edwardsin Kyrie, he gives the edge

(34:07):
to the Mavericks barely, he addedbarely. And it is interesting. I
mean it's hard to argue. Lookat they're both at different stages of their
career, right, I mean Edwardsis just starting to lift off, where
Kyrie is certainly in the twilight ofhis career. I mean he might have
a few more years left, andhe's closer to the He's closer to the

(34:30):
to the middle of the beginning ofthe end than he is to He's closer
to the end of the end ofthe end than he is to the beginning
of the middle of the end andand An's just starting. It's it's hard
for me again to this sounds aboutright though to me that you still you
almost got to give the nod tothe guy that's been there before. That's

(34:50):
one championships and he's playing at apretty high level right now. But I
don't know the way Ant's playing.You know he's been, he's been,
so Kyrie's drawing the attention Ant isthat's true, like that Ant was in
that in that Denver series. That'strue. He played in fifty eight games,
starting all of them. Talking aboutKyrie twenty five point six per game,

(35:13):
averaging twenty one. In the playoffs, Irving and his team trailed Okay
see by seventeen points early in thethird quarter, still clinch their second round
series four to two against the thunderwinn He won seventeen one sixteen at home,
sort of kind of like the Wolves. The Wolves were behind early and
able to rally back. I'm goingto go with the tough love I've inspired

(35:39):
Aunt. I've inspired so many TwinCities athletes over the years. I'm gonna
try to inspire Ant a little bit. I'm just gonna tell Aunt one three,
bring your ass when you when youwhen you square off against Kyrie,
they're going to go in. Youneed to bring your ass. And if
he does, I think he'll endup with I mean, there's no question
he will. He will be Idon't know if he's gonna be the best

(36:02):
player in the NBA, but he'salready now might be amongst them. And
so Kyrie's days are numbered. Butit should be a great matchup between the
two to see the savvy veteran againstthe young kid. And then they match
up, you know, McDaniels againstDerek Jones. He gives the edge to
the Wolves power forward. It's theWashington junior in towns. He gives the

(36:25):
edge to the Wolves at center.Again, the edge to the Wolves,
the edge to the Wolves. Onthe bench, he even gives the edge
to the Wolves on coaching. Soand again, you know, when you're
comparing player for player and bench tobench, it can be very difficult to
do. But it sounds about rightto me from what I understand in my

(36:49):
limited amount of research I've done. The Mavericks acquired their two big guys during
the season. They made trades forthem, so they seem to fit in
very well and it's almost like, you know how we've been We've been giving
Connolly a lot of credit for saying, Okay, you know, he put
together most of the Denver roster, including drafting Joker. So then he comes
over to the Wolves and you know, he's I'm sure he must be thinking

(37:14):
to himself, I've got to figureout a way to get by Denver because
Joker is the best player in theleague. They have, they have a
talented roster. What do I needto do? So he goes up,
makes a trade for Goldbert. Yougot two big men signs Na's this that
lad? Okay? So I'm I'msure Dallas is sitting over there as the
seasons progressing, and they're thinking thesame thing, and they're going, well,

(37:35):
it looks like Denver and Minnesota prettydarn good. How are we gonna
get by those guys? They gotsome good big men. We've got to
go out and get something. Soundslike they've now they are not on the
level of the guys we've talked aboutwith with with with the Wolves and the
and and and the Nuggets. Butyou know, you don't really have to
be right. You don't have tobe I mean, look it as much
as we like Gobert and nas Reedand Towns, if you compare them each

(38:00):
to Joker, I think there's anybody, even in Town or in the league
that would say, pick one ofthose four players to be on your team,
which one do you take? Ithink everybody takes Joker, right,
But we still beat Joker in Denver, so just because those two guys would
be considered when you know, accordingto the match of Bizon Golda, I
think most people agree our guys arebetter individually kind of how you mesh with

(38:21):
the team. And I think,to me, I think it's really going
to be decided as how well theBig l and Kyrie play. If they
you know, I think how theygo. I don't think that's going on
on a limb, is it.I think how they play Jaden can slow
them down at all defensively, Butif those two guys play like they are
capable of, it could be itcould be a very tough series. But
I think Zago to pick the Wolvesin in seven that sounds about right to

(38:45):
me. Six or seven, tento be or. But again, I'll
say this what I said about theDenver series, I wouldn't be shocked if
the Mavericks won this years. ButI'd be surprised because I think the Wolves
are playing at a level that andI do think the confidence. I don't

(39:06):
think they're one of those teams thatare going to like, oh we got
the toughest team, Now we beatthe defending champs. You know what has
Boston got to offer? You know, the overlooking. I don't think they'll
do that at all. I don'tthink it'll be allowed by fanch Or Conley,
and I don't think anybody else gobare none, even the young guys
aren't going to look that way.So I don't think there's any overlooking any
clubs. So but it shapes upas what should be a very interesting and

(39:30):
entertaining series. And you know,I joked earlier about you know, the
four games sweep. I'm telling you, I just like series that go back
and forth and leave me on theedge of your seat. That Wolves Denver
series, even though there weren't manyclose games, even the last game ended
up being kind of a blowout late, but it was that was the closest
of the games. Number seven,It looked like, I mean, Wolves

(39:52):
were getting destroyed, they come backto get ahead, blah blah, blah.
Most of the other games were laughers. I get the feeling this and
maybe these will turn out to belaughers too, I don't know, but
just the idea of wow, wewere up to oh, then we're down
three to two. All is lost. When you blow out Denver at home
and then you get behind my table, that means to me so much more

(40:14):
satisfying, entertaining, and much morememorable. They'll talk about this series between
the Wolves and the Nuggets for along time. Had they swept the Nuggets,
you'd talk about it, but you'dalmost be a footnote. Hey,
you beat them in four then, and then you went on to bigger and
better things. So should be good. First game tonight on this radio station.
