Tenny. I don't know if youremember this, but during the National Football
League season last year, Baltimore Ravenswere playing the MotorCity Kiddies and the Ravens
scored a touchdown like two minutes intothe second half to go thirty five nothing.
That's when they sent it to JamesBrown. No, who's the other

(00:38):
guy on Kurt Menafie. They sentit back quickly, sent it back to
Kurmancy. They said, okay, with the thirty five nothing, we're not
going to send you to a morecompetitive game. We would do that now,

Jee, where'd we play? Mate? This song of the you need to
raise your standards a little bit, son, I don't care Stock Incredible,
jarn Star Memorial Hour Am one fourYou at Reason's follows and says hey comedy.
I started listening to the program alongwith other KFAN shows ten years ago

(16:17):
when I was eighteen years old.Mild Man would play KFN as we would
carpool to and from work. Together. He was a Mindot employee and he
got me my first gig as astudent worker. He would play KFA throughout
the day on his sony Watchman AMFMradio. We would always giggle at the
titled segment five questions, Well actuallythree, but five sounds like more than

(16:38):
four. He loved this type ofstupid humor defined exactly correct. Two years
ago to the day, he leftthis earth after four year battle with kidney
cancer at the young age of fiftythree. We don't like to say he
lost the battle because even though hisbody deteriorated, he always kept a smile
on his face and would harken backto stupid humor of his own. He

(17:02):
was born and raised in West SaintPaul and was the youngest of seven siblings
who was the ultimate host who lovedhaving parties like his annual Kentucky Derby get
together. He loved nothing more thangetting people together to share stories and a
few laughs with the beer in hand. He started up a Beer Olympics group
and created a softball and broomball teamback in the nineties called the Losers.

(17:22):
We keep those teams alive and strongtoday. You can often find him at
the local bar Gallaghers on a Tuesdaynight after his softball games. After a
couple thirteen fourteen, you might haveheard him do his signature imitation of a
seal bark with his older brother.Even though it would get looks, the
people who knew him couldn't help butjoin in. In fact, we even
made a beer in his memory calledSeal Call. I'm not sure how much

(17:44):
you listened to a Dark starback inthe day, but I'm sure they're up
in heaven sharing a couple thirteen fourteen, Miller high lives. Just the thought
of that makes me smile. Hisfamily called him Clancy, his friends called
him Coach, his nieces and nephewscalled him Kenny, and I the privilege
of calling him Dad. Miss youand love you, your son, Ryan.
And that's our Dark Star Memorial fourtoday. Why not we haven't done

(18:08):
this yet today. Not sure whatplane of it it is, but it's
the PGA Championship taking place at ValhallaCountry Club being Louisville, Kentucky. Let's
take a look at the leaderboard andthe police blodder. Let's go to Tennabee.
Tennebee, what you got for us? Well, we have a new

(18:30):
leader. That's mostly just because XanderSchoffley just teed off a little bit,
so he's only through two holes. But Colin Morikawa is your new leader.
He shot a five hundred sixty sixyesterday and then shot a six under sixty
five today, so he's at elevenunder for the tournament. There's three back
at nine under, something called ThomasDietrie. Shoffley, by the way,

(18:51):
just Birdie did he yeah three,So he's out second, so he's now
second. He's now solo a secondat ten under, so Shoffley ten under.
He's through three. Thomas Dietrie andScotty Scheffler are both at nine under.
Dietree is in the clubhouse. Heshot a four under sixty seven today.
It's amazing that scheffer can play thatwell while wearing handcuffs. This is
astonishing to me. They can't stopand the police can't even stop Scheffler five

(19:15):
hundred in the day. He's throughseventeen, so he's just got one more
hole to go after that. Youget two at aight and under something called
Austin eck wrote, and something calledMark Hubbard Harris English at seven under some
other notables. Rory McElroy just gotdone with his first hole of today,
so he's at six under. He'sfive strokes back, but obviously with seventeen
holes to go, Tony fenales toheath the olive yet to tee off today,

(19:37):
so they're both six hundred like theywere yesterday. Slowly pot down there,
beautiful it was. It was atragic story today. A vendor that
was working at Valhalla early in themorning. I think this was like in
the five o'clock hour a pedestrian wasstruck and killed. Today. It's a

(20:00):
very tragic story. The aftermath afterwards, apparently, tell me if I have
it right, Timmy. I readthe story and I think I understood it.
At that point, traffic was beingbacked up. I mean, there
was obviously the emergency cruise. Therewas, you know, a ambulance and
police and fire and tending to thevictim, and so it was, you

(20:23):
know, it happened near Valhalla becausethe vendor was going to work, and
so Scotti Scheffler was headed. Ithink traffic was backed up and there was
a roadblock or something, and Schefflerwas headed to the course and allegedly is
this what happened to me? Hetried to drive around to get into the
golf course and a police officer toldhim to stop, and at first he

(20:45):
didn't. The story I read saidthe police officer attached himself to the car,
So did he jump on top ofit or what did he do?
Do you know? And then hefinally got Scheffler. Scheffler did stop after
driving ten twelve feet. I thinkthe officer had some abrasions, and they
immediately got him out of the car, put the cuffs on and brought him

(21:06):
into They book them in the wholething, right, Oh, yeah,
he had the orange jumps the thing, you got the mug shots and then
they released him and then yeah, they were as him, probably quicker than
most. So yeah, obviously youmight have gotten pushed out a little bit,
might have gotten some help. Andhe made in time for his tea
time and has played well today andvery well and should be done shortly because

(21:27):
he got warhold the goals. SoI'm guessing I would assume he would talk
to the media. I don't knowif he's going to talk about the incident
Munch or not, because I'm surethere's he's been charged with crimes, so
I don't know how much you wantto talk about that it's you know,
it's it's humorous, just that youknow, Scheffler is all of a sudden,

(21:47):
you know, but they just theway I say, just so tragic
because of the death of the Pastrians. So it's hard to even making too
much fun of it. But heasked the scottis Seffler out. I was
arrested today. But as you say, it lays and seem to affect his
golf. You always do that bitabout your mommacan't stop me, a daddy
can't the police, and the policeobviously stopped him, but then they couldn't
stop him on the golf courses. He's uh, he's lighting it up again

(22:08):
as he's only a stroke off ofoff of the lead. I should remind
people you wanted me to remind it, because we've had a number of requests.
Uh. The montages strike a chordwith people. And Tendeby did a
double montage today. The first onewas I'm Still Standing by Elton John.

(22:30):
It was a double montage sort oflike a double shot, a two for
Tuesday, a double shot Friday.Uh, and then tend to be followed
up with you know, the leadup that was of course obviously celebrating last
night's forty five point game six victoryby the Minnesota Timberwolves, and then he
he he moved that into AI.He segued that into uh, the montage

(22:56):
for Sunday because we won't be hereon Sunday. The game of Sundays going
to be a two thirty or seventhirty, depending upon the outcome of the
Pacers nick Abocker's game. But thenTennabe put together Kenny Rodgers when you put
your heart in it with ah,the the response has been unpress attented Tennabe

(23:18):
getting My favorite was someone during thefirst half of the montage said, I'm
disappointed Antenna he dropped the ball.It should have been Kenny Rodgers. We
needed it more now than ever. And then all of a sudden it went
to Kenny Rodgers. But then youknow, text full disclosure text. Messager
owned up to it and basically said, I'm sorry, I didn't realize Tenneby

(23:41):
was doing a double montage. Sowe're going to play that at the end
of the show. We're just gonnaplay then the Kenny Party, we're gonna
play that second part. The Wolveswent back to playing the defense that won
them games one and two. Yes, all so, I think, and

(24:02):
I don't. I'm not saying thiswould have changed the outcome, but I
think Denver kind of just at thatpoint they were they were getting beat by
twenty five to thirty four, theyjust started jacking the threes. It was
almost like and then the coach emptiedthe bench. They knew they were done's
own weren't coming back, and evenif they had tried the Wolves, there's
no way they could have come back. The Wolves were dominant in that game,
and they got they got the crowdwas on fire last day, by

(24:23):
the way, and they got gamesix elimination, Game six performances like you
need to have there. When thatgame first started, Timmy, we talked
about this earlier and Denver started outon a nine to two run. I
thought, oh, so this isthe metal we're going to show. Huh.
Not to interrupt you, because Ifind this that amazing. Tiger was
just triple bogie the last hole. That's his first triple bogie in one and

(24:47):
forty one career PGA championship holes.Look at him, he's struggling to walk.
That's bonkers. It is bonkers.Go ahead, Sorry, no,
it's okay. Oh that was theresponse you needed. That was a we're
on the brink of elimination. Useany cliche you want. Our back is

(25:11):
against the wall, it's gut checktime, whatever one you want to use.
And when they went down nine totwo and we had to call the
time out, I'm thinking of myself, all so that's our gut check time.
Huh. This is what we've decidedto do at home, with our
back against the wall, facing eliminationby all the time outwork. Because they
came out, they went on.I believe it was either a twenty three

(25:33):
or twenty four old run. Asyou mentioned. They had another twenty plus
point run, but that one.Basically, I think I saw this in
the Jamal Murray postgame presser where hebasically said, well, I was over
at the first quarter. It wasover. They knew it. And see
that's what I'm saying. They actuallyknew it. Were just jacking up three

(25:53):
said well, maybe we hit abunch of threes. We can get back
into it. Somebody else said thatMr disrespected and because he went who,
I don't think he understood the question. I don't think it was it was
just because what he said was sowell, no, It really wasn't his
defense on me was his offense. He was so good we couldn't stop him
again, you know. But Ididn't take that as I have to watch

(26:17):
it again. But I don't thinkhe was going like, who are you
talking about? What's his name?I'm really bad with names. He's got
a red suit, he has asleigh with eight reindeer. I don't think
he was doing that bit. Butnonetheless, you'll hear Game seven on this
radio station. Got several of thetopics I'd like to bounce off. Tend
to be in our Victory Formation segmentof our Phone and in Friday show that's

(26:38):
next year on the Fan clubabirteen fourteen, Past Common Man Programop comedies Tenna b

(27:25):
Tennabu, Colin Morikawa steel leads minuseleven, Shopley minus ten through three.
Scheffler done for the day. He'stwo back at minus nine. US is
the D three character also at minusnine, mister PGA Championship leaderboard tennaby.
I saw this the scarf Eric Escalassent me this. I think he's in
this purple persuasion. It's like anaggregate that get you know, that's a

(27:49):
Viking related and they take all sortsof them tweets and stories that they put
together. Anyways, it says, according to at Dan Graziano ESPN hashtag,
Vikings will have a specific step bystep plan for McCarthy's development, and if
he hits each benchmark, hill openthe season as the starter. If not,

(28:10):
the Vikings are comfortable starting. OhSam Donald, And well, you
know we had talked about that whenthey which up when they signed Donald,
because he's bridge quarterback guy, right, And I suppose there was the possibility.
Let's say the Vikings would have gotout Fox draft night, remember they
they jumped, They went from elevento ten to get J. J.

(28:33):
McCarthy. Let's say they wouldn't evenbe able to get MacArthur. Let's say
for some reason somebody jumped down tradedwith the Jets, and then I think
Sam Donald would be basically lockstock andbarrel. Yes, starting quarterback guy.
But now because you got the guyyou want, and I don't find this
surprise, and we talked about that, I think we both agreed. I
know I certainly said this. Ithink you'd as well. If McCarthy shows

(28:55):
enough in you know, oda's asmini camps, in training camp, maybe
some preseason work and if he's inthe film room, he's breaking stuff down.
He looks like, I don't thinkthey'd be afraid to start him right
away. Why would you, Iget the idea you put a guy into
a bat. The part of thelogic that people had, the reasoning that

(29:15):
New England might trade the third pickoverall, was because you don't want to
bring in a quarterback when he's gotno receivers, no running back, no
line. He's gonna get beat up, and he's gonna get discouraged, and
he's probably gonna lose confidence. Youdon't want to do that to a guy.
And then, of course the conventionalwisdom said, but if you were
going to be a young quarterback andstart week one, a rookie quarterback and

(29:37):
start week one, Minnesota would bethe best spot. You got He's JJ
or Jets as we'd like to callhim. You got Addison, you got
Hawkinson when he comes back probably sometimein October. You got two really good
tackles on each end of the line. You know, Aaron Jones looks like
he's still got some football in him, so, uh, you know,

(29:59):
if you've got a situation like that, and the quarterback shows he's sharpened.
By all accounts, the kid knowswhat he's doing. He's a student of
the game, and said, nowagain pro game is a whole different story.
But I wouldn't be surprised if youstart Mefroent. I think their goal
all along is to have him start. I think Darnold was kind of bridge
guy, or as we just said, back up and back up, not

(30:21):
a backup quarterback with backup plan, right back up plan, so that if
somehow they couldn't get a quarterback inthe drift, that's what they would do.
So this doesn't really surprise me,is it you that they You know,
they have this this step by stepdevelopment plan from us. We talk
into the Shuffler press conference. Ohsure, let's do it. Yeah.
I can't imagine what what they're goingthrough this morning. You know, he

(30:42):
one day he's heading to the golfcourse and to watch a tournament, and
you know, a few moments laterhe's trying to cross the street and uh
now he's no longer with us.So I can't can't imagine what they're going
through my heart, you know,I feel for them. I'm sorry.
My my situation will get handled. It was just a It was a it
was a chaotic situation and a big, big misunderstanding, and I can't can't

(31:06):
come in any of the specifics ofit. So I feel like y'all are
gonna be disappointed, but I can'tcome in any specifics. But my situation
will be handled. It was justa just a big misunderstanding. So if
y'all got any questions about the gogolf today, I'm happy to answer.
And but outside of that, Ican't really get into what what transpired.
Outside of you know, my heartgoes out to the family. Thanks Scotti.
We'll open up for questions now, starting with Marty. I'm like,
two, how do you encapsulate everythingthat happened to you today? I don't

(31:33):
really know. I feel like myhead's still spinning. I can't really explain
what happened this morning. I didspend some time stretching in a jail cell.
That was the first for me.You know, I was part of
my warm up. I was justsitting there waiting, and you know,
I started going through my warm up. I felt like there was a chance
I may be able to still comeout here and play, and so I
started going through my routine I tryto get my heart rate down as much
as I could today, but likeI said, you know, I still
feel like my head spinning a littlebit. But yeah, I was fortunate

(31:56):
to be able to make it backout and play some golf today here on
one, Scotty, What was itlike even making the decision to continue to
compete today and shifting focus to thetask at hand and coming out and shooting
five hunder. Yeah, Well, like I said, it was just as
just a huge misunderstanding this morning thatthat'll get resolved I think fairly quickly.
And yeah, I mean I camehere for a golf turn and I was

(32:19):
I was driving in this morning, trying to get to my my warm up
time and get ready for for theround of golf. You know, I
didn't really have an understanding of whatwhat it transpired this morning, and you
know, my main focus after youknow, getting arrested, was you know,
wondering if I could be able tocome back out here and play,
and you know, fortunately I wasable to do that. And yeah,

(32:43):
it was nice to put together asolid, a solid round today for sure.
Dan on seventeen, it seemed likethe crowds were really behind you and
your fellow players kind of rallied aroundyou. Did you feel the support out
there today from your community? Ireally did. It was it was it
was really nice. The fans wherewe're tremendous today. You know, I
felt like they were a cheering extraallowed for me today and it was I
mean, I really do. Iknow sometimes you can't really see it on

(33:06):
my face, but I really doenjoy playing in front of the fans.
The support I've been getting the lastfew months out here has been tremendous and
I'm really grateful for it. Goingon eighteen, how long did it take
before the golf felt normal or didit feel normal at any point once you
got out there. Yeah, Iprobably took a few holes to feel normal.
You know. Obviously I didn't havenormal my normal warm up, and

(33:27):
I'm a pretty uh I usually stickto my routine. I'm a big routine
guy, especially when it comes tomy preparation. But it took a few
holes to settle in, and youknow it, it was kind of nice
just to be out there inside theropes competing. You know, it's it's
one of my favorite things in theworld to do, and so I was
fortunate to be able to come outhere and do it again today. Right
here, Mark, I'm four Scotty. We've come to know you as a

(33:49):
pretty unflappable person out here, notaffected by a lot of stuff. Can
you describe how rattled you were whenyou were and you just were a reference,
you know, being in a jailcell and what just described that mindset
and how surreal that was for you? Yeah? I was. I was.
I was pretty rattled to say theleast, you know. I the
officer that took me to the tothe jail was was very kind. He

(34:12):
was great, you know. Hehad a nice chat in the car that
kind of helped calm me down. And I was sitting there waiting to kind
of go in. I asked him. I was like, hey, excuse
me, you just come cash, come hang out with me for a few
minutes so I can calm down. And uh, you know, I was.
I was never you know, angry. I was just in shock and
I think my body was just Iwas shaking the whole time. I was
shaking for like an hour. Itwas. It was definitely a new feeling
for me. And he came outand we had a nice chat, and

(34:34):
then the the officers inside the jailwere tremendous. A couple of them made
some jokes. I think when theyfigured out, you know, who I
was and what happened and you knowhow I ended up there. You know,
they uh, this one, thisone older officer looked at me as
I was doing like my fingerprints orwhatever, and he looks at me.
He goes, so do you wantthe full experience today? And I kind
of looked at him and I waslike, uh, I don't know how

(34:57):
to answer that. And he's like, come on, man, you want
a sandwich? And I was likesure, It's like, I'll take a
sandwich. I didn't breakfast yet,and so, I mean, they're really
kind. I'm grateful to have I'mgrateful that we have, you know,
such strong police and you know therethere are protectors out there, and you
know, like I said, wejust got into a chaotic situation this morning.
That's really all it was. Mikesiks Jim thanks to the ability to

(35:20):
yes, that's enough for that.Yeah, I thought they did sandwiches.
I thought it was bread and waterwhen you're in jail. That's why I
always heard bread and water. Butyeah, so's Scottie Scheffler I think most
people are ware of the story. We just talked about it. So that's
that you're on JJ before we areinterrupted JJ since a starting week one.

(35:43):
Yeah no, I was saying,yeah McCarthy, I don't I do the
same. I'd want to start him. We've talked about this ten and be
you know, Yeah, I've changedmy mind on a several different occasions,
which shouldn't shock anybody on what's thebest route to build a championship team.

(36:07):
And I thought you got to getPat Mahomes, got to get Joe Burrow,
you got to get Josh All,which would be great. But if
you get them now as free youknow, if they ever became free agency,
get them, well, then yougot to pay him so much money
it hurts your Salaryme. Rookie contractsare the best. Matter fact, Mahomes
was under one when they won theirfirst big game, wasn't her? He
been reworked already before he won hisfirst Super Bowl tenneby, Do you remember

(36:30):
it was under his original contract? Was yes. So if you can maximize
your wins, minimize your losses, qualify for the playoffs, your quarterback continues
to get experience. And if youcan win while he's under his rookie contract.

(36:51):
Hallelujah, more power to you.You know, so McCarthy at twenty
one years old, if they feellike he's ready, I don't think there's
any reason to hold him back.Is if he gets that first look.
If a guy's confidence is gonna getshattered because he struggles a little bit because
he doesn't have a lot around him, then he's probably not the guy.
Anyways. If you give this kidexperience and if he develops another kind of
quarterback, you think he's going tobe the quicker he develops, the better

(37:14):
it is for salary cap purposes, agreed or not? Well, yeah,
obviously, And you know the is, you know, can he be ready
for week one? Well one?You know he's not the first one to
be ready for week one. Imean the Bears are all in on Caleb
starting right, and Washington's all inon Jayden Daniel starting, and I'm assuming
Drake may well, Drake may mightsit for a while because they do have
Jacoby Perssett. But when it comesto football, like these guys come in

(37:37):
at twenty twenty one, twenty two, twenty three, it's like physically JJ
McCarthy can play in the National FootballLeague. I got maybe could he add
five ten pounds of muscle? Isuppose, But like he can run,
he can throw like. It's notlike he's limited physically that he needs to
improve on those things. So it'sjust a matter of mentally. It's a
new speed. It's a different speedof the game that you need to adjust

(37:59):
to. And I'm guessing the playbookis no. You know, I'm sure
he had a pretty big playbook justbecause you were with Harbaugh in Michigan,
right, I mean yeah, youhad to no more NFL stuff there than
you typically would in college. Soit's just a matter of mentally can he
pick up to the speed of thegame. And I'm assuming that's one of
the benchmarks they're talking about, andthat'll be up to him whether he can
do that or not. So Iwouldn't be shocked if he can start Week

(38:21):
one. Here's a couple of checks. This one says Sam Darnell deserves a
chance to prove himself. He's neverbeen given a fair shake since he entered
the league. Let Sam show everyonewhat he can do. Well. I
wouldn't say he hasn't been given hewas given a fair shake. He started
on two different teams. Yes,And you could say if you're saying he
wasn't given a fair shake because hedidn't have a lot to work with,
I'd concede that. But he doesn'tdeserve a chance to prove himself. That

(38:50):
doesn't how that's that doesn't work.That deserve to me, just isn't the
right word to use. There. You can say, hey, give the
guy a chance, and he probablybe. They think the futures Macarthy we
taught. I said earlier before theydrafted McCarthy, before we knew what they
were going to do. I said, maybe Sam Donald could be the guy

(39:14):
because he never had the right toolsaround him, like a lot of other
guys start with. But I'm notI'm not sure he deserves a chance.
It's one says you don't pay Donaldten million to be a backup. Well,
sure you do that, Yeah exactlywhat Yeah, backups make a lot
of money. They make that kindof money. And if if if it'd

(39:35):
be more like, you don't payKirk Cousins forty million dollars to become a
backup. That's that's what you don'tpay. That's exactly ten million you do.
That's that's what a that's what agood backup is going to make or
somewhere bridge right, and what you'redrafting a young guy. And here's the
other thing too, it's but youjust said it. Yeah, that's that's

(39:58):
that's what it is. It's like, so that's what a backup quarterback A
good one. The going rates isanyway. So anyway, and like the
money's gone, you can't make decisionsbased off how many much of it you
you you start whoever gives you thebest shot to win or you know,
or at least maybe JJ might be. You start whoever can help him develop

(40:21):
at the appropriate pace. Tannaby, when we come back on Monday at twelve
noon, do you do you thinkthe montage will be nothing's going to stop
us now? Are you convinced that, well, we know it's nothing's gonna
stop us now our sad. ISo there's really only two options at this
point. I don't think there'll bemuch of a surprise what the option what
the montage will be? On money? And you think it's going to be
I, I like, literally Ihad the same thought processus you did at

(40:44):
the beginning of the show. Today, like I'm I can't make predictions anymore.
I think it's I think it's unpredictable. Both teams are very capable of
winning, and I don't know whichteam's going to show up for both sides.
I agree because the game's Denver one. I'm sorry, We're we gotta
get going right. Yeah, Iwas going to say I'm hoping that,
I'm hoping that it's nothing's gonna stopus now. But I'm like you,
I'm not gonna make any I'm gonnacheck it out in this one walk walk,

(41:07):
I'm not gonna make a pick.We played the montage to get the
team ready, the second part ofthe montage to get the team ready earlier.
