thirteen fourteen Past common Man Program,Our number two of a fast paced action
pack. Controversial Common Man Program.I'm about to say something controversial that's interesting.
It's time for five, three, four, brought to you by Casey.
Time Now for five questions, Wellactually three, but five sounds like

(00:47):
more than four. Brought to youby Casey's General Store. Question number one.
Xanders Shoffley won his first major titleand secured the lowest seventy two hole
score in major championship history. Afterwinning the PGA Championship yesterday at Balhalla.

(01:08):
He closed to the six hundred sixtyfive to beat Bryce and d Chambeau by
one. Shaffley became the first playersince Phil Mickelson in two thousand and five
at Baltus Role to win the PGAChampionship with a birdie on the last hole
to win by one. Coming yourthoughts, I watched the entire final round

(01:29):
and I know why wouldn't you beoutside. My lawnmower didn't work. More
on that later, I got alawnmower tale that I need some help.
But anyway, I was. You'veheard me say this before. I generally
don't pull four or against golfers.I just like to see drama. I
like adversity. I like drama likei'd like game sevens at basketball rather than

(01:51):
four game sweeps. I like tosee people batting and battling and battling down
the stretch. And I was happyfor Xanner. I mean again, he
he's lived a If he had neverwon a major, he would still probably
live a very full and rich life, emphasis on the rich. He's made
a lot of money, what eighttimes on tour going into PGA Championship,

(02:15):
but he's never grabbed the brass wearing. He's been in contention, he's been
in the final group in majors,he's been finished lots of top fives and
tens, and tend to me,I don't know if you watch much of
it, but he bogies the parfive tenth kind of a sloppy bad boat
any bogie by a pro and apartfive. So basically I watched through eleven

(02:35):
holes and sadly did not watch therest of because of baseball practice. But
yeah, and I thought to myself, well, this is what we've come
to see from from Shafley. Hecan't close the deal. And whether it's
because there's too much pressure or maybeit's just that's just the way the golf
Paul bounces. But he played reallysolid down the stretch, survived a charge

(02:58):
by Bryson D. Chambelle and VictorHovelin. D Chambeau birdied eighteen. He
got a great break too on itthink it was sixty sixteen or seventeen,
where I think it was seventeen. He dead pulled it into the trees.
He had to beat it, andit hit the tree and bounced out into
the fairway, and then he threwhis approach shot into about two feet made

(03:22):
birdie, and then he birdied eighteenas well. He's now tied for the
lead Shotley. He has to makea tricky little up and down on seventeen
to stay tied for the lead.Needs birdie on eighteen, otherwise he forces
a playoff. He thought it wasan eighteen hole playoff. The next day
would have been a three hole aggregateplayoff. Nevertheless, Nonetheless, he hits

(03:45):
his t shots. See did youwatch his final hole at all? You
know what happened? I just onthe last putt, okay, Well,
he hit his ball near a fairwaybunker. He had to stand in the
bunker both feed in. The ball'slike it's almost like he's hitting off a
bad He takes a four iron,it hits a brilliant golf shot to short
of the green maybe thirty five yards, hits a wedge to about six feet,

(04:09):
and then makes six quarter in thesix quter world around the cup.
But it would the second shot inthat hole was just huge, and so
I just see Shaffle win was kindof fun. D Chambeau gave him a
hell of a run there at thevery end, and uh, it was
high dram and it was a lotof fun watching the one hund six point
at the PGA Champ Question number two, we twins wave ballingall. It's now

(04:38):
time to delve deep into Twins territory. We're there in deep. Yeah,
that's twins. Adell lost six ina row after being swept by the Cleveland
Guardians over the weekend. It culminatedin a five to two loss yesterday in
which you on Duran gave up athree run walkoff homer to Will Brennan.

(04:59):
That's Twins have totaled just nine runsduring their six game losing streak. Common
What has gone wrong with our MinnesotaTwins. Well, they're facing legitimate teams
now and they're having more trouble withThe Yankees and the Guardians are both first
place teams, and when you playedfirst place teams, we're playing teams that
are assembled some pretty good rosters topto bottom, every day players, role
players, bullpen and started staff.I mean the Twins look at I remember

(05:24):
you remember the text message where Igot where Rosie and I got ripped.
You might have been included in this. I don't know, but you guys
are acting like they're a terrible team. You guys are just preposterous. They
were twenty and three. I waslike, well, yeah, you know,
and you've been doing the old Youknow, there's got to be who
you play. And I've said thattoo. You know, the Twins don't
put together the White Sox or theAngels rosters. But White Sox are terrible.

(05:48):
They won in that ten game winningstreet. It was actually like a
twelve game winning street. But inthe in the the ten games they won
when they beat the White Sox,than the Angels three and then the White
Sox three, they went ten tozero. Bats came to life. They
were just they finally after they hadone of the worst batting averages in all

(06:10):
of not just americanly, but allof a Major League baseball heading into that
first series with the White Sox.Turn that around. Pitch has been pretty
good. And then they didn't stop. They took two or three from Boston,
three or four from the Mariners, and two or three from Toronto,
all pretty good teams, you know, so I thought, and I praised
them. I said, look, maybe maybe that whether that ten game winning

(06:32):
streak against the os walls of theAmerican League had anything to do with them
jump starting their season, or ifit was just kind of a coincidence that
they would have done that against anybody, because they continue to do it pretty
well against the last three aforementioned teams. But maybe the timing was just right.
Got it allowed them to build someconfidence, play some good baseball.
Now they're on a roll. Thenthey faced the Yankees. Jeffers leads off

(06:56):
game one of the home run theygo the other twenty six sittings without scoring
a run, twenty six consecutive inningswithout scoring a run, very few hits,
and they went out quietly in thenight and lost a three game set
and then they lose all three tothe Guardians. And if you take away
you can so you know, takeawaykaf because sixty eight, seventy eight,

(07:17):
eighty eight, ninety eight our touchdoundsof gofers were in that game. You
take away the four garbage runs inthe ninth inning when they were already down
eleven nothing on Saturday. Those arejust garbage runs. They only scored nine
runs. It's you've got to beninety runs in six games. Is that
the number that I saw? Andlike I said, four were garbage So
when the games really counted five runsand if that's just bad. And Paddock

(07:42):
was good again yesterday, I meanhe gave up a two run homer I
think in the first After that hewent eight innings, he retired twenty five
to twenty six. The other thing, and we talked about this as being
a plus, and I think it'llbe fine, but it was a plus
that Duran was finally bad because rememberthe twin start of the season without the
closer. Of course, they reallydidn't need a closer to the season.
But Duran was bad. I think. I think there was another game recently

(08:03):
where he didn't close out a game, and hey, he didn't he you
mentioned it. He got, hegot, he got roughed up. So
I don't know if having Buston backmakes that big of a difference. I
guess when Lewis comes back, thatcertainly can't hurt the club. But uh,
there it's when when they're playing thequality clubs, it's it's just not

(08:26):
their baseball is a funny game, though tend to be. Is a long
season, so we'll see. Butthat certainly was a that's a bad six
game stretch for this club. Coulddo it quickie, sure? Question number
three and now it's time to goeat wolves. Weren't the only game seven

(08:46):
yesterday. The Indiana Pacers beat theNew York Knicks won thirty one oh nine
in Game seven at Madison Square Garden. So they'll face the Boston Celtics in
the Eastern Conference Finals. Common ofthe Pacers have any chance against the Celtics
out in the East. I havesome odds that may be of interest to
you. Here's what the NBA ConferenceFinals series lines are. What's really nice

(09:09):
is Jimmy, who always sends usthe odds that might be of interest to
us. He actually explains what theyneed. Now. I think he knows
who he's talking to. Now,he knows that I don't understand gambling at
all. Pacers are plus five twenty, Celtics are minus seven hundred. But
that means, according to Jimmy iscurrent odds suggest an eighty seven point five

(09:30):
percent chance of the Celtics winning theseries. Line opened at Celtics minus thirteen
hundred, Pacers at plus eight twentyfive. Early money is on the Pacers
at the original price. Okay, you'll probably understand that better than I.
Mavericks at Timberwolves Mavericks plus one thirty, Timberwolves minus one fifty. Current odds

(09:54):
suggest a sixty percent chance of theTimberwolves winning the series. So Boston eighty
seven point five. I've obviously heavilyfavored there, and I can understand why
the East just isn't as strong AfterBoston. It really wasn't much to speak
of, especially with MBID being hurt. So because didn't Embid miss a lot
of yes the season for them andAntio Kompo was out and the Pacers just

(10:18):
beat up a beat up New York. Kay, exactly, So uh,
Timberl sixty percent chance. You know, I'm not gonna do I can play
the game if you want, youknow, get angry and act like we're
being disrespected and say you doubted us. But that seems about right. Dallas
is formidable from what I understand theyhave. Obviously they were a lower seed
where they four or five five?Five? Yeah, that's right, so

(10:39):
they but they're a formidable change. You know. Don Chic is a poor
man's joker according to Rose, andI'm not sure if I believe that,
but there's that, and then yougot Kyrie Irving, so that's a good
club. So I think sixty percentis about right. I mean, I
do expect with the Wolves, hisheart almost predict now, you almost don't

(11:00):
feel, you know. I thinka lot of us thought they would struggle
against Phoenix ended up sweeping them.I thought it thought it was over when
it was two games to none andthen lost three in a row. So
it's hard to predict who's gonna winterLou, but I would think the Wolves
should should handle Dallas five three fourbrought to you by our friends at Casey's

now kfan dot com. So tendto me. I mentioned I watched the

(12:09):
fine A round of the PGA Championship. I think from the from the from
one the final group, which wasmore Kawa who he had nothing seventeen straight
bars until he made a a abirdie on eighteen, so he was not
a factor coming down the stretch.I think I picked it up from hole

(12:33):
to the final group. On Hooletoo, I planned to mow the lawn.
I told you I'm really hard onmy equipment, my snowblower, my
lawn, more anything, cars, everything. I'm kind of just don't cars
if it's I'm not I don't meanI'm difficult on them or or you know,

(12:56):
mechanically like you know, I don'tdrive him like an out a dime
in, but I mean, youknow, insides get a little messy,
you know, and this and thatthing. Anyway, lawnmore tried to fire
it up yesterday before the UH beforethe PGA Championship. It would start and
then stop right away, start andthen stop, starting, then stop.
I'm thinking, how I'm a relativelybright guy, but I'm not mechanically inclined.

(13:18):
So I went to what everybody elsedo? I went to a handy
dandy Google. It said generally, and I did check the air filter,
but that was fairly clean because Icleaned it once before. But when I
went to Google and said more timesthan not, if you're if your lawnmower

(13:41):
starts and runs for a few secondsand then stops, it's probably your carburetors
all gunked up. It's probably gotdebreathed. I just saw Max and I
can't even do a hoodie Who.That's why I'm not a part of that
show, because I can't. Ifyou can't hoodie Who, you shouldn't be
part of Triple x RA. Youjust shouldn't be part of it. They

(14:01):
called the Fox and the Fro,I think is what they actually call it.
I think it's called Fox and theFrow. What I was told,
if I could do Who Do Who, I'd go. But I'm not,
so I'm not going to be there. I won't be at the cage.
I'll stay home. But I can'tclean a carburetor, Tim toy. I

(14:22):
looked it up. The chances ofme taking out a carburetor, cleaning and
put it back in, I'd havea better chance doing a heart transplant with
you. Really, it's just Igot I got no chance. Right,
So I call a couple of smallengine guys. You know these guys are
working out of their garage, right, call them this morning to see,
you know, how long if theycan, if they can get my lawn.

(14:45):
This is like stat I need tomow the law and it's getting long
as a matter of fact. Andto me, they both said about two
weeks out. In two weeks, you won't be able to see my house.
It'll be like a jungle. Thegrass is growing like a while,
it's spreading like wildfire. Right,so what do I do? I don't
want to ask the neighbor to borrowtheir lawnmower. I didn't gonna use your

(15:07):
lawanmore. Why you're not working?I'm a loser. I don't know how
to fit. Plus, everybody inmy neighborhoods an engineer. They could probably
tear it apart themselves and put itback together. But I'm not going to
ask them to do that either.Plus Carl's on vacation. I think Carl's
the guy rely on all the time. So and I don't want to buy
a new lawnmower just because, yeah, because I think it is the car.

(15:30):
Now it might not be the carburetor. And then I'm wondering, why
are they going to charge to takeout the carburetor, clean and put it
back in. What would be yourguess, no idea, just pretend you're
playing. See, I think itwould be more than that. I think
it would be something like bucking aquarter buck and a half. And I'm

(15:50):
so, I'm thinking the alternatives areto go buy a new lawnmar. But
I don't want to go buy anew lawnmar when it's I think it's just
the carburetor. But you can buya decent lawnmower, I think. For
I looked at prices, you canget a I was thinking of buying the
old push mower, the old fashionedones. You know that, you know
ones I'm talking about right then Ithought my yard's too big for that.

(16:14):
I might die. Speaking of hearttransplants, I might have a heart attack
back there, so I dispensed withthat idea. But I was looking at
lawnmowers. You can get them foryou know, two ninety nine. Up
there are some lawnmowers. Now,these are walk behinds that are like fifteen
hundred dollars. I mean, that'slike, that's the Cadillac of lawnmowers.

(16:34):
And I don't want to spend fifteenhundred dollars on a lawnmower. I don't
even really want to spend five hundredwhen the lawnmower, my current one just
needs repair. So I came upwith it. I will actually baby brother
Peter, he said, because there'sone kid that still lives in the neighborhood.
That's what I was going to suggest. My neighbor, and I've seen

(16:55):
him. He's a senior. He'sa hockey player, by the way.
A matter of fact, he's goingto go play junior hockey instead of off
to a college right away. It'sa really good Player's dad was a was
a hockey player at the University ofDenver. So he played at Denver.
So there's hockey blood runs deep inthat family. But I've seen him mow
the lawn, so baber of thePeter goes, why don't you go see
if the neighbor will mow your lawnfor you. Bingo went over there,

(17:22):
talked to his mom. She said, yeah, he's mowing the right across
the street. He's most mowing mowingthe lawn. So I said, whatever
he wants to charge, he doesn'thave to bag it. I never bagged.
Did you bag your grass? Idon't either, that's too much work.
Plus, I believe in the nutrientsfrom the clippings help you. Over
action does yes. But I didsay he's got to use the bag around

(17:42):
the new maulching because I got brandnew maulching. I don't want the grass
clippings going in there. So thatwas the solution. I came up with
tennebee brilliant, pretty good. That'swhat I was going to tell you if
you had a neighborhood. If hedidn't have a neighborhood, kid, I
know. Now there's these things onyour phone called apps, right, well,
I'm my Casey's app. Yeah,yeah, yeah, there's apps.

(18:02):
And there's this there's an app calledplows and Mos or basically it's like it's
like Uber but for a great namefor a band plows and moses. Wait
anyway, it's basically what Uber is, but for mowing your lawn or removing
snow from your driveway, or youcan even have them remove leaves from your
from your yard. Now it's moreexpensive, but well worth it, well

(18:23):
worth it. But in a pinchlike that, call Finch. You get
on the app and someone will comeand you pay him to mow your lawn.
What do you think they charge?See? I said, whatever your
son is charging across the street, neighbor, I'll pay the same amount whatever

(18:44):
he thinks is fair. I hopehe doesn't come back as they five hundred
dollars per mowing, and then thenwe got an issue. But I don't
think he will. What do youthink the going, right? You've seen
my size yard. I don't havea really big yard, but not a
really small yarn. I think Igot a medium sized yard, right,
But what do you think that theyI got? I got a front yard,
well, very small front yard, very small side yard. You know

(19:07):
between houses on the on one sidethere was no more to do, then
on the other there's a little bit, and then there's the backyard. Is
it's secluded? Oh very secluded?Sorry accusing me. I'm sorry, my
inside bits. Yeah, what doyou think that's worth? So I had
them on multiple occasions removal leaves. It does good expense, you know it's

(19:30):
it's hundreds, hundreds, hundreds ofdollars. Well for leaves. Mowing the
lawn wouldn't take as long as obviouslymowing leaves, or as raking leaves right
or removing leaves. But I thinkit would be more expensive than just your
neighborhood kid, you know, theright might be doing it for thirty bucks,
right, Yeah, my guess itwould be in the sixty to eighty

(19:51):
range. I wonder what neighborhood kid, neighbor kid's going to charge me,
because I said, I left upto him, So what if he goes
he said, leave it up tohim, I'll do it and tell him
I need one hundred and ten bucks. And I go wait here and say,
I said whatever I thought was fair, and that's what I thought was
fair. Then I'm stuck. I'mon the hook, right, But I
think I'll get a fair price.I've got so now because that's what these
guys said. I said, well, when can you get my mow?

(20:14):
And he goes, We're I calledto and they Bill said, I'm booked
two weeks out, two weeks out. I can't wait that long. So
we get that, we'll get thatfigured out. I'll do it for three
hundred dollars. How about if Igive you seven hundred, you give me
your betting slaps. Call it evening. Let's take a break and come back.
I got some, I got someof the wolves nuggets. Nuggets,

(20:37):
pardon the pund We'll take a lookat those other side of the break.
It's the common Man program along withtenn Tobe here on Duffan American rockers A

Kubert Calendar. So you said thatcontra would be a day to remember?
Who's in the concert? What's thename of the band? A data remember?
Well, I know you already gaveme the date, and I remember
and I put my calendar. Butwho's playing that day? Now? Who's

(21:27):
not playing that? I didn't askthe who is not coming to the Ledge
Amphitheater. I didn't say who's playingyes, no, not yes, yes
is not playing either? Sometimes Ireally have to guess who. I'm more
human. That was a very goodSorry. How about all turn the question

(21:48):
on you. Guess who's playing atthe Ledge Amphitheater. It's the guess who
is? They broke up? Matterof fact, two of the founding members
are suing the guys that are tryingto use their name. I don't know
what you're no. I was askingyou to guess who is going to be
playing the Guess who's not going tobe playing there? Because the guests who
was not the real Guess who?So anyway, let's take a quick phone

(22:11):
call before I there's another topic that'svery controversial to me. I think it's
pitting the boomers against the tenillennials.I'll get to that in the moment,
right, I want to take aphone call from Dan. Dan, you're
on the fan. You got asolution for forgetting my grass mode? Hello
cutting grass? Did I say thatagain? Yeah? I'm out cutting grass.

(22:34):
I heard your dilemma. Yeah Ihave I live. I could you
know, swing over and help youout if you needed a hand. You're
not dammerli like, are you No, I'm a long time listener though.
What what do you charge? Well, I guess I mean pro bono.

(22:56):
I would think you've been in myheadphones for the last fifteen years that the
only thing I could do is behappy to repay you. Ah memories of
other good times. Yeah, youknow, I got some other stuff to
do around the yard as well.It around the house to remodeling done to

(23:18):
my house mine after you know,we could probably get something done there.
Dan, do me a favor.I've already hired the neighbor kid. After
I find out what he charges,I'll talk about it tomorrow and you get
back to me. Maybe we'll cuta deal. Yeah, no, that
sounds great. Appreciate that. Thanksall right, good look, thank you.
Yeah, tell me what did SonnyBono have to do with it?
I said something about Sonny Bono andthe beat pro bono. So he's four

(23:42):
Sonny Bono. Oh, well,I was too. He died in an
awful ski accident. He hit atree. I think it was in Bail,
Colorado, if I remember correctly.H tell me there seems to be
This is so silly. It's theold boomer back in by day. Apparently
there's a lot of excitement, asyou would expect. Well, not that

(24:06):
there is a lot of excitement,it's not. Apparently there is. There's
plenty of excitement regarding what's happened withour National Basketball Association team soon to be
Big Game World champion, Minnesota Timberwolves. I think everybody knows the history of
this franchise that follows Minnesota sports ingeneral, specifically the Wolves closely came to

(24:29):
Minnesota in nineteen eighty nine. HarveyRattner and no yeah, Harvey Ratner and
Marv Wolfinson were the original owners. They then, after about three or four
years, tried to sell the teamto a group headed by Bob Aarram called
Top Rank. As a matter offact, I wore the T shirt earlier

(24:51):
this year. Somebody had commemative Tshirts made up and sent them to members
of the media, and I stillhave mine. Was never taken out of
the box. I laundered it andWarren for the first time ever earlier this
year where it has a depiction apicture of the front page of The Times,
Pickyune, the New Orleans Fish repFactory. That's not West or East,

(25:15):
that's just you know, the NewOrleans fish wrap factory product, and
it said got him Timberwolves right.Well, then the deal fell apart.
I think we talked about it,and you may have even read the brief
history of it. Tim. Idon't remember why it all fell apart.
I think maybe the NBA stepped inand said, no, we're not We're
not moving the team from Minneapolis toNew Orleans. After three or four seasons,

(25:40):
Marvin Harve then sold it to GlennTaylor and he's owned the team ever
since. And there's a song byLed Zeppelin called good Times, Bad Times.
There really have been no good timesfor the Wolves other than one run
two thousand and three, two thousandand four, when the kid Kevin Garnett,
uh latrelle, I need to feedmy family. Spree well and Sam,

(26:07):
I tell Sam and Spree do theirthing. Come fourth quarter, give
it to the ticket, bring itto the ticket, Sam Cassell. That
team also went to the Western ConferenceFinals but was ousted by the Sacramento Kings
four games to two. And soa lot of the I guess ten millennials,
millennials, gen xers, and anyother generation in between are so excited

(26:36):
about this Wolves run, and wellthey should be that they either are ignoring
the pastor don't even have any recollectionof the pastor any knowledge that. Well,
wait a minute, this is thefirst time we've been to the Western
Conference Finals. There's been as muchexcitement in this city before this run with

(26:59):
the Minnesota Timberwolves, and that wasback in two thousand and three, two
thousand and four. And while thatmight be true, I just kind of
rolled my eyes, shrug my shoulders, and shake my head at the boomers,
because well, that was an excitingtime and it was the first,
you know, the first I've saidthis before. First times are usually the
best times, right, feels likethe first time, right, first kiss,

(27:26):
first date, first arrest. Yeah, all the first things are the
very best, right. So thatwas a nice run. But let's look
at it this way too. Weneeded a seventh game and had to wish
we had to withstand a last secondthree point time shot by a team that
was they were inferior to the Wolves. That that series never should have gone

(27:48):
seven games. That was a seriesin which you know, we won,
But I mean, I'm just saying, you know, we lost Sacramento,
or beat Sacramento. That's a teamwe should have handled it easier than that.
Yeah, well yeah, but theyweren't anything like we were. That
was that that that that should nothave That should not have happened. Beating

(28:11):
Denver, the defending world champions withthe best player in the league. Yea
much bigger accompass. Sorry. Ilove the Wolves, and I remember the
O three oh four Wolves. Iremember I was there. Well, I
wasn't there. I would never go. You could put me. You could
have put me last night at centercourt in a in a in a lazy
boy recliner that spun around in circlesto follow the action. I would have

(28:33):
turned it down because I like watchingfrom home now. I just liked the
cozy confines of the Cole Compound atthirteen fourteen insane late, but and it
was a Western Conference Finals appearance. But it's different than this one. This
one, especially when we were upto oh and then fell behind three to

(28:57):
two and go into Game six witha lot of fear, a lot of
loathing. People didn't want to facethe adversity. People were weeping and nashing
their teeth and angry with the commonman for suggesting. Sure, I like
a two to zero lead, butit's the most dangerous lead in the NBA.
It's the most dangerous lead in theplayoffs, much like the two goal
leaders the most dangerous lead in hockey. I wanted to see a game seven.

(29:21):
I did, and we got it. And tell me that wasn't more
fun the lessons and then they hadthe adversity within the game, that's exact,
and the adversity, I mean, how much fun was that? How
much? How much? How much? As Jackie Gleason one said, how
sweet it is? It was sosweet? It was so much more enjoyable
I there was. I derived somuch more pleasure and satisfaction from that,

(29:45):
because that's that's more memorable. Notput it this way. Ten years from
now you go, Yeah, Iremember we swept Denver, we know,
but I don't really remember any detailsof the games. No, now you
remember, as Bob Seger one said, member, I remember speaking of first
time. So there was a pointearly in the third when the Wolves are

(30:06):
down twenty where I was thinking tomyself, I know, this is a
seven game series, but it seemslike the least drama field, least entertaining
because every game was blowouts. Therewas never we never had something to come
down to the wire where players hadhit clutch shots in the fourth quarter and
lo and behold, we ended upgetting that last night. That is correct,
it was they they were I eitherread this or saw it. The

(30:30):
average margin of victory was it waslike twenty five points. It was something.
It might not have been that much, I mean alone, that's right,
they're the forty five alone. Andthen they were Blue Mountain Game two.
They were large even the games thatwere big closer, even though the
even though the games that were closer, they weren't really close. They were
I think they were all double digitwinsor may have been one single digit victory.

(30:53):
But then to see what happened lastnight, like you say, the
highs and Lows Wolves playing them tightearly than all of a sudden matter of
fact, the Wolves had the lead. They had like a five or seven,
maybe even eight point lead. ThenDenver goes on that run that we
went over in the first segment ofthe show, the second segment of the
show. Then all of a sudden, min you know, Denver went from
the late in the first quarter toa good portion of the second quarter.

(31:17):
The Nuggets went on a run thatwas incredible. Part of their I think
it was like a twenty seven tonine runner. Side remember exactly what it
was, but I know there wasa sixteen er run inside that big run,
and then the Wolves run that startedlate third into the fourth quarter.
So a game of two runs andthe Wolves was obviously came at the right
time. So I do appreciate theWolves of three and O four, but

(31:44):
I do think this the excitement levelhere to me, at least for me.
I can always speak for myself becauseI lived in both. This is
way more exciting for me because notonly that, I have a real belief
in this team because they play defense. Not that that Wolves team didn't play
defense with Sam and Spree in KG, but they were also playing the great
Kobe Ryan and the LA Lakers. And I know if Sam wouldn't have got

(32:04):
hurt, who knows what would happened. I get that, I get that,
but he didn't get hurt, sowe don't know, right So this
I really believe this Wolves club now, because you get by Denver. By
the way, that's the fifth consecutiveseason where the defending world champs didn't get
out of the second round. That'sanother statistical note. I don't think the

(32:28):
Wolves are the type of team thatwill overlook the Dallas Mavericks. I would
certainly hope not. I don't there, uncle, Well, that was the
tough one we needed to get byDenver. And now all of a sudden
you start looking ahead. I wasBoston doing against the Pacers? How quick
are they eliminating them? What areour matchups going to be? There?
No? No, no, don'tbe doing that. I don't think people.
We'll tell you what after they sweptPhoenix. Yeah, I love the
professional lism they had where no theywere. They weren't doing celebrations and we

(32:52):
didn't have any videos coming out onTikTok about Chcelli's like they was just business
as usual. And even the lastnight you got a little bit of it
of you know, like them cheeringwhen they're going into the locker room and
some of the videos, but itwasn't an overtop celebration. And then just
not down the defending champions. Ingame seven, we're down three games or
two, like that is kind ofa time you could celebrate. That's correct,

(33:13):
you know, I know you shawthe picture of SlowMo with the two
beers and they should celebrate, yes, but it wasn't over the top.
Hey we've done it. No,we're there, like the Indians did yet
or the Guardians did yesterday when theybeat the Twins, posing for those pictures
and dumping stuff. A regular seasongame between two mediocre clubs, and they're
acting is if they won the WorldSeries. Very childish. But the Twins

(33:36):
certainly are. The Wolves certainly handledthat with a plumb and I think I
think they do. I think partof that is tend to because I I
don't think they feel like boy,it's just they're not going to be I
think some teams are just satisfied,Hey we got it, you know,
because remember there were people saying afterthe Wolves beat Phoenix and then got behind

(34:00):
to Denver two oh. I heardpeople or heard of people talking about,
how, you know, even ifwe you know, it's no shame to
lose the defending world champs. Almoststarting to you know, almost, I
don't know, making excuses, buttrying to, you know, let everybody
down easy. You know, webeat Phoenix, We're a good team and
we swept them, and you know, it's no shame to lose to the

(34:20):
Denver Nuggets and there's the defending WorldSaints. I don't think the team would
have believed that at all, andyou saw that. That's why I think
they performed the way they did. There was plenty of time they could have
quit, especially last night. Downtwenty and the third, that's when you
can be going. I guess thedream is die. We're about too.
Is our fourth game in a row. Maybe we aren't as good as the
Denver Nuggets. Maybe there was somethingin that championship pedigree and that championship pride.

(34:44):
Maybe maybe it's not meant to befor us. I think the Wolves
can spell quit. They just refusedto dot the I across the tee.
I always love that one. It'sso good. I just got goosebump saying
that we refuse to dot the Iacross the T and that's what they did
last night. Phone call from DairyFarmer Guy. Dairy farmer Guy brings you

(35:07):
to the fan today. Hi,Tom, And I heard hearing hearing about
your escapades with your lawnmowers. AndI worked as a service manager at a
John Dear dealership. Lawnmowers and well, nothing nothing wrong, nothing and nothing

(35:27):
runs like a deer except when theydon't run. Well, there you go,
and well then what you do atthat point is you got them and
then you know you you you turnthem into benison. That is correct,
that's correct. But in your case, I think an easy fix would be,
uh, did you leave the gasin from last year? No?
No, no, Well I mayhave left a little, but no,

(35:49):
I I've been I've already bowed acouple of three times already. Oh okay,
so yeah, old gas. Wellcause that problem with the carburetor.
But I was just going to recommendthat you go and get yourself a carburetor.
And if you have anybody with anykind of a mechanical ability living close
by, carburetors are relatively cheap andit doesn't take much to change a carburetor

(36:13):
and you can get her done inno time. If you take it to
a dealership, that's going to takeforever. Plus that's going to cost an
arm and a leg. Well isthat? I mean? I thought it
might be a pound of flesh ora pint of blood, But you talk
about an arm and a leg.Well, oh yeah, thank you.
Let me ask you what places arePlaces are like one hundred and fifty dollars

(36:39):
an hour, So what if theythink they're a major market radio talk show
host. Let me ask your question, Terry farmer guy, where do you
live? Tell by New Praig.Well, it's not too far of a
drive from Woodbury. I'll be homelater tonight if you want to come up.
And I mean you you used tobe a lawnmar mechanic. Why don't

(36:59):
you come on up? And youknow what, I won't even ask you
to do it pro bono. I'llgive you. I'll give you a common
man book and maybe ten to beby throwing a tarp, shoot or anything.
Well, i'll think about that.I'll draw on the old tool belt
and come on over. Why don'tyou maul that over? Because I think
you're right it's going to be AndI just don't. I mean, my

(37:20):
neighbor Carl, I've had them dothings for me before, and I just
don't want to go and say, hey, Carl, I'm a loser and
I don't know how to take outwith you. It's yeah, because I
feel like a loser that I can't. I mean, I've got a plumber
coming over just to do some simpleplumbing stuff that I think I should be
able to do myself, but Ijust don't. Plus, I like to
make America strong and make you haveto keep spending money with people so they

(37:43):
can have jobs in security. Twochickens and every pot, two bags of
pot and every glove box. Fourmore years, four more years. Well,
you think about it. Think aboutit, though. If you could
accomplish this on your own, you'dhave a a talking point for like four
or five more weeks of programming.Hey, Derrek famerguy, how long do

(38:05):
you think I'd milk that? Thatsounds like a real truckle. I got
on you there, Thanks, TerryFarmer. Got for the use Tom,
and I can relate to you whenyou talked about the Timberwolves Act twenty years
ago. I lived through that too, and you're right, it doesn't seem
like the same kind of excitement, like what's going on right now. This

(38:30):
is amazing watching this team. I'mglued to it. And I kind of
pooh pooed the Timberwolves over the yearsjust because they weren't that good. But
boy, they're showing something now. That's what adversity will do for a series.
Thanks Terry Farmer. Gu I appreciatethat. And remember this, Remember
this, Bessie give because baby's gotto live. You can use that to

(38:52):
it that's all right. Thanks appreciatethat. Bessie. Give Baby's got to
live, Bessie, Give Baby's gotwellybe needs milk. And don't they call
Coyle's Bessie? Isn't that an oldcow's name? Matter of fact, isn't
it which which milk milk company hasthat their their mascot is Bessie. I

(39:16):
think maybe it's maybe it's Polka Dotmilk. I think she's called Bessie.
Bessie. Give Baby's gotta Live best, see Give Baby's gotta Live best,
see Give Baby's got to Live.Yeah, I'm getting back to the university.
We just talked about adversity, man, That's what made that serious.
That's what makes this series so fun. I mean, do you agree with

(39:40):
that, Tennabee? I mean again, you know if four games waep,
Sure, that's cool, less pressure, less anxiety, feels like you're a
team of destiny. But I feelmore like we're a team of destiny now
because you win. To everybody, including Chuck Barkley, it's a rap.
It's over. The Draymonth things thevery best I saw. They don't believe

(40:02):
Yeah, I could see it.It's over. They don't believe it.
And then all of a sudden,Well, when you put your heart in
it, it can take you anywhere. And that was our secret weapon.
When you've got Kenny Rodgers on yourside. Oh yeah, trust me,
we were due for a win afterplaying some Kenny. It's been a while,
it's been a while, and uh, Kenny do it. Yes he

(40:24):
can, Yes he can. That'sso good. I'm I'm on fire today,
man. I just love the adversity. You know again, I brought
this up a couple of thirteen fourteentimes, but well, how about they
did it with their best player reallynot providing a whole lot offensively for you?

(40:45):
Yeah, I mean, who wouldhave thought, especially the way Jamal
Murray was playing in that first halfwhen you're down twenty, and if you
would have said, when they weredown twenty, hey, if they're gonna
come back and win, I wouldhave thought Aunt just went off and he
could contributed. You know, hehad the five points kind of at the
end of the third quarter that gotthem there, had a big three down

(41:07):
the stretch with what three minutes leftto really kind of was kind of the
dager three a little bit to getthe game to ten points. So he
contributed and obviously he did some goodthings defensively, but for them to make
that comeback without him, yeah, kind of leading the way blows my mind
a little bit. I didn't seeRudy being the offensive. Of course he
was. Nas was super clutching thefourth quarter. Correct, you know.

(41:28):
McDaniel's was a good old game, commonly had some good moments, had the
big three. He also had thesteel where he pickpocketed Murray and that led
to Anson breakaway dunk. That's correct, and then there was the h ant
hadna steel. Yes, he pickeda Murray's pocket too, and then ten
to be two words nahs reed.Oh he was so good. He was
so good, especially late. Thisemail came into common at kavan dot com.

(41:53):
This was last night about nine thirtysix, subject line wolves. Here's
what he writes, Fire up theMonday montage, alert to the common man,
get back to the Western Conference finalsand get back to me. Thanks
for proving the inspiration, my boy. That's what we do. We inspire,

(42:14):
that's what that's what we do.And someone else said this one to
me. I love this one. This came just prior to them. This
was at nine thirty three, threeminutes earlier. It said from watching at
Home Guy thirty two years in counting, He writes, how many people have
gotten back to you now that they'vegot to the Western Conference Finals? That
a number of people did, becauseremember Tim, that's kind of been my

(42:37):
mantra when people want to talk, you know, when I get a little
look when you host a talk showsports struction. I'm not I'm not suggesting
this is this is demanding physical labor, and it's it's it's a good gig
if you can get it. Butthere are times where you just I don't

(42:59):
want to break down the Wolves, the Twins, the Wild and the Vikings,
especially when they're in a stretch wherethey're a terrible team and a terrible
city with terrible fans in a terriblestadium and terrible concessions, terrible parking,
terrible swag, terrible everything right, and so sometimes I just it's kind of

(43:20):
been my mantras, Like Ted VVsaid, what do you think of the
Wild? Get to the Western ConferenceFinals and get back to me. Then
we'll talk about them, and thenwe'll discuss it. And Timber, what
do you think of the Timberls comming? Get to the Western Conference Finals and
get back to me, how aboutthe Bike get to the NFC Championship Game.
Get back to me, they've donethat a couple of times. Or
if you are the Twins, getto the American League Championship Series and get

(43:42):
back to that. Just it happens. It never happens here. We've had
some NFC Championship Game appearances with theVikings. I'll grant you that. But
when was the last time we werein the American League Championship Series? Nineteen
ninety one? When was the lasttime we were in the Western Conference Finals
with the Wolves two thousand and threeto two thousand and four? And when
was it with the Wild? Wasthat ninety for the conference finals? Two

(44:06):
thousand and three, two thousand andthree? So Western Conference Finals? Then
get back to me, it's beentwenty years for both the Wolves and the
Wild. Then how many you gocon from ninety one? I don't know
how many years ago it was forty? Is that forty years thirty thirty three,
thirty three? So it's it's niceto see a team in the Western
Conference Finals. Well, we'll takea look at some of those quotes.

(44:28):
I thought there were some interesting thingsthat came out of the locker room.
Afterwards we'll do it to Adam.Take a look at some other text messages
that have come into the branch onBrian Cavane text line at six four six
