Andy Show live on one O sixpoint three CAx and no, that's stream
streaming live at cakes ando dot com. What traffic issue there on the way

(00:46):
to work? Yeah? Yeah,Andy Fails, Lucas draw and Keith Murphy.
Well, I couldn't find I wasI was backed up. I sent
you guys a text. I'm like, there's no way I'm going to be
here in time. I don't think. Uh. And it turns out and
you know how this happens. Tounderstand why it happens, But it's just
this. It's this long semi truckthat's just unloading furniture. But they're parked

(01:06):
in the middle of the street ona busy street. In this case,
it's thirty first street. So itjust it backed up all the way to
University several blocks because cars having towait for an opportunity to go around this
truck. But the truck probably doesn'thave act options. Can't really pull in
the driveway or on the yard, pull up on the yard. You can't

(01:27):
do that. And when you're theone moving in, you're the one causing
that. You're like, oh,you feel so bad. But it's just
kind of one of those things whereyou know, you know that what goes
around comes around. Eventually it's goingto be you that's waiting in the traffic,
and you're gonna have to be like, Okay, I know what it's
like, right, you know,And like, can you imagine being in

(01:47):
you know, in a in areally big city, in a Chicago or
a Dallas or an Atlanta or something, and just you know, that's just
life. No, No, Ireally can't can't either. I Mean,
my son right now complains about histwenty minute commute to work because his his
office changed and it added like ayou know, five to seven minutes to

(02:09):
where he goes. He's like,God, this commute just takes forever.
I'm like, man, there ina lot of cities. You'd think that's
only twenty mins down the street. That's great. Yeah, and and uh,
I have a friend in Boston who'slike six miles from where he works.
But given the time of day,it can be forty five minutes to

(02:30):
an hour and a half. Yeah, just depending on what time it is,
like in rush hour, it takesmore than an hour. I'd be
I don't I don't know if Icould find enough podcasts and radio shows to
get me through that without losing mymind. Yeah, I mean there is
a little bit of trade off.My sister lives in Brooklyn, and you
know, driving anywhere is terrible andparking is terrible, but they don't have

(02:53):
to do that. I mean youcan walk everywhere, take a subway everywhere.
Everything is close, right, Imean, everything you need is within
a few blocks away. So theyjust, you know, while it is
really difficult to go out and drive, you just don't really need to.
Can I can't give and take there? But Lucas, how are you a
you on foot today? No?I drove today and it's weird because I

(03:15):
take thirty First Street to get hereas well. The furniture truck must have
came right after I went through becauseI didn't have any problems. I mean,
that intersection of thirty first and Grandwas like the bane of Andrews existence.
He hated that with Yeah, justevery cell in his body. There
would be there would be somebody unpackingin one of those apartment complexes because there's

(03:38):
like four of them right there.Yep, I've run into that. Or
construction. I was thinking about thattoo. We're I think it's better this
spring summer construction wise. I knowthere are still a lot of projects going
on. It probably just really dependson what part of the metro you live
in, but it does feel likeoverall many of the bigger projects have kind

(04:00):
of gotten over the hump. Yeah, the the main one there on University
near the Drake neighborhood where Lucas hasa fancy apartment that's cleared out some so
that's that's good. It's moved downthe other direction so it's starting paved and
the water line and the curves inthere. WHOA, let's get to the
one at one here on a TuesdayOne at one with Murph and Andy on

(04:24):
one oh six point three k Xand O powered by Kouberski Brothers lawnchair.
We bring lawns to life. VisitKoubirski Brothers dot com. Well, there
aren't many days where things have notleaked out in the world of news or
sports. Usually you have an ideasomething's coming, even if it's not official
yet. So yesterday was unique inthat when word came out near I don't

(04:50):
know, three point thirty three fortyfive whatever it was that Lisa Blueter was
retiring, that was like a hThat was like a thunderbolt of news.
And it's not shocking when you stopand really think it through. Just wasn't
a bombshell. It just was reallyunexpected. Yeah at that time, Like

(05:11):
if it had come a few weeksago, it might not have been as
surprising right after the season, evenannounced ahead of time another year or two
and I'm out something like that. But here in mid May the night retiring,
Yeah, I'm retiring. And thenso Hawkeye fans react to that,
and the reaction is what And Ithink many people had to, Okay,

(05:36):
what's going on? Why what happened? What changed in the past six weeks?
Why is this being announced today? Is there something we don't know?
And then within fifteen minutes or ahalf hour, the next news release comes
out and Jan Jensen is named thehead coach, and it kind of calms

(05:57):
Hawkeye fans down and everybody start artsto understand that this makes sense and that
this was a strategic announcement and thatthere's a plan in place and the the
posting of the job nationally that's goingto be waived, as they're able to
do with a head coaching job ifthey ask for a waiver and they get

(06:20):
it, and it's, uh,it's like one big night of news.
Yeah, it's funny. I hadno idea that this was coming. But
toward the end of the season,we were we were watching, you know,
everything that the Iowa women's basketball programwas was doing, and I I

(06:43):
I feel like I know Lisa Blueterpretty well, covering her here at Drake
and then through the years at Iowaand just looking at her face, she
looked exhausted. I think the pasttwo years have been and and that's completely
understandable, and it just looked likeshe was She always put on a good

(07:05):
face, she always kept it inperspective. She was always a really steady
guiding influence on that whole team. But she looked it looked like it just
had really taxed her life. AndI saw that and I just I started

(07:26):
thinking. I was like, she'ssixty three and she's rich. Her kids
are all grown. I mean, her little Hannah was sitting on her lap
during her I was remember being thereat Carver Rockey Arena during her introductory press
conference in two thousand and Hannah waslike, I don't know, two or
three sitting on her lap during thepress conference. And at one point Hannah

(07:47):
just started singing. She was singing, and we were like, what's she
doing up there. She's like,I think she's singing. But anyway,
Hannah's like twenty seven now, sothey're all grown. And I started thinking,
and I'm sure many people have thesame thought that I did. You
look ahead to what's coming next year, not only no Caitlin Clark, but
like no whole team. It's theyhad so many players there for extended periods

(08:13):
of time, and they're just goingto make a wholesale change. Almost There's
some some holdovers, but for themost part, the meat of that entire
lineup is gone. And they've beenthere for a long time, and that's
almost like a rebuild. And weknow that there have been some players that
have been coming in, but they'renew, so that's still part of a
rebuild. Lucy Els big transfer comingin from Villanova, and I just I

(08:35):
was like, man, what wouldI do in this situation? I was
just like, man, that's sixtythree. That's getting pretty close to retirement
age. And you know, andthere's also just that situation of now you
have older coaches who are who areforced to accept a quickly and drastically changing

(08:56):
landscape in college sports. And Idon't know if any of them like likes
that. I think they're doing agood job of putting on a happy face,
because I don't think that they do. I think just for any coach
that's been there for any significant amountof time, I think that's really difficult.
I think she has managed that betterthan most and probably enjoyed it better

(09:20):
than most. I mean, theywere she doesn't really had to do it.
They're one of the few teams inAmerica last season that that had no
no transfers in the starting lineup.I mean, those were all players that
have been there all along. Theydid they did get a transfer porta Lucy
Olsen who's coming in from Villanova, and I'm sure is okay. I'll be

(09:41):
surprised if anybody leaves with the transitionfrom from Blueter to Jensen. And the
other thing that was, you know, a little more complicated about Lisa Bluter
is that, I mean we aswe have come to know her through all
these years, going all the wayback to Drake, is that she and
Jan Jensen and Jenny Fitzgerald kind ofmove as a unit, and they moved
as a unit over from Dre.It's really need. Drake has been interested

(10:03):
in Jan Jensen more than once.I know, they've offered her the job
in the past and she's turned itdown. And it really seemed to me
and I think anybody else that lookedat the situation up until yesterday, it
looked like Jan Jensen and Jenny Fitzgeraldwere just really settled in their lives being

(10:28):
assistant coaches on that staff with LisaBluter, and that's what they wanted.
They were not interested in being ahead coach because they certainly have had plenty
of opportunities, and that, youknow, and that's fine. I mean,
there are some people that are justlike that, they don't want to
be a head coach. I alwaysfind it inspiring when somebody says, you
know what, it's okay to behappy in the situation you're in. I

(10:50):
don't have to keep reaching for thenext wrong on the ladder, didn't always
have to be a new job,the new city, more money, all
of that. I'm happy. Andthat's Dan Jensen always struck me. That
way is just and still does.Somebody's like really happy and unless the absolute
right thing comes along, and this, of course is the absolute right thing
for her, I'll just keep doingwhat I'm doing. Yeah, she's a

(11:13):
happy person exactly, and everybody likeschan And that's one of the things I
think people like about her is thatshe's just comfortable. She's a comfortable person
to be around, in her ownskin, all of that kind of stuff.
So but it also, you know, it occurred to me as as
you're thinking about Lisa Bluter moving on, you're thinking, well, she's got
two assistants that have been there forever, but they don't want to be head

(11:37):
coaches. At least that's what Ithought before yesterday. They don't want to
be head coaches. So what doesLisa Bluter do if she wants to retire?
Does she do they have to retireas a unit. I mean,
what do they really do because shedoesn't. She's not just going to turn
the job over to Jan Jensen orJenny Fitzgerald. She's it's not going to
do that. They don't want todo that. She knows that about them,
she doesn't and they you know, they're in this business at this school

(12:01):
because of her. But now youknow different, right, So that's what
the other thing I think that wassurprising is that, you know, I
thought that towards the end of theseason, but there's been a number of
weeks that have gone by where youhadn't heard anything about that. And as
we know, I mean, that'sboy, those that that clock is ticking,
you know, especially now, Imean you really, if you're going

(12:22):
to make a change, it usuallyhappens right away, you know, if
somebody's gonna move on or if they'regoing to retire. I mean, you
you know, right at the endof the season. They don't. They
don't wait because they know that, you know, the next ones need to
get in there, and usually theyjust got their mind made up at that
point, and so it doesn't youknow, they don't there's not a long

(12:43):
delay. Now this is a differentsituation, so maybe that has a lot
to do with it. Thirty twoyears Lisa Blueter is coaching twenty four at
Iowa. That number kind of sneaksup on me. Maybe it does many
of you, because you know,I remember her so well, the three
Missouri Valley Conference championships, four MVCtournament titles over at Drake. She was

(13:05):
really successful there. It doesn't feellike twenty five to thirty years ago to
me, but that's how time Marchis on spent at Iowa, almost as
long as Kirk Farence. They gotthere about the same time. It was
interesting too, when you see, like some of the national reaction yesterday,
there were the people that just don'treally know Lisa Blueter who felt like,

(13:26):
oh, yeah, Caitlin Clark hasgone, so you know, yeah,
of course she's moving on. Whatdid she do before Caitlin, Well,
actually a lot, quite a bit. Eight hundred and eighty four wins.
She's the winningest coach in Big tenhistory, winning a coach in Iowa history,
three time Big Ten Coach of theYear, none of those the past

(13:50):
two years when they went to theNational Championship game. Because you kind of
lose the benefit of the doubt therethat you're doing a great job coaching,
which she did, but it's like, oh, you have Kitlin Clark.
You know, we got to picksomebody else for Coach of the Year.
Two NCAA Final fours, including twochampionship games. No other Iowa team has
ever been to a championship game.Five Big Ten tournament championships, two Big

(14:16):
Ten co regular season championships, Soa very accomplished coach. And I think
it shouldn't be lost either that.I mean, Caitlyn Clark would tell you
she likes to be coached hard, and she's not the easiest person to coach.
And Lisa Blueter was like a perfectfit for how fiery Caitlin Clark is

(14:39):
and how you have to rain inher emotions. And she's still trying to
do that. She's gotten a littlebetter each year, but it's difficult.
It's also difficult to coach someone whenthey are clearly into the knowledge of everybody
in that locker room better, they'reon a whole different level of skill set
and and all that, and you'retrying to keep all those egos working toward

(15:03):
the same team goals. When youhave one person. I mean, the
main question players in the locker roomgot asked the past few years were questions
about Caitlin Clark to other players. You know, it's like I'm interviewing you,
but let me ask you about whatit's like to play with Caitlyn Clark.
I mean, they got a lotof that, and Lisa Bluter kept
she did a really good job withJen Jensen and the other assistance of managing

(15:26):
all of that. But to yourpoint, your original point, it also
seemed exhausting. And the first thingI thought of yesterday when I heard she
retired was Aaron Kiernan interviewed. Aaronwent to Drake and she interviewed did a
lengthy interview with Lisa Bluter a coupleof weeks ago, when Lisa was being
honored for character counts. She cameover here, and remember Aaron telling me

(15:50):
and you She's like, she's sonice to everybody, but seemed like what
she needed most was just to youknow, lie on the couch and just
relax because it's just been right afterthe city, Yeah, just just non
stop churn, and I mean gettingthat team back to the championship game after

(16:10):
losing, uh, losing the championshipgame there and for Sonano trying to think
there's somebody else probably gone from thatgame. But we have a quickie poll.
It's from wc I pulls and spas. It's kind of way out there,
but it's you know, it's it'snot as crazy as it might sound.
Should Iowa put up a Lisa Bluterstatue in front of Carver Hawk i

(16:32):
Arena? Yes or no? Uhyeah, eventually for sure. That's the
kind of legend that grows. Imean, we're still close to it right
now. It just ended. There'sno there's a Dan Gable statue, and
you know, let me just saythis. So Lisa Bluter made her bones
at Drake as someone who is anincredible recruiter. I mean, she had
Tammy Blackstone and Carla Bennett were thetwo most highly sought after recruits in their

(16:57):
respective areas, and she got aboth from Iowa, from Iowa State,
from Nebraska, from Creighton. Shegot them. There was no question about
her ability to recruit. When shecame to Iowa. The questions about her
and they probably lingered for a numberof years before, you know, probably

(17:21):
up until that Elite eight with begand Gustafson. The questions about her,
I think were about her coaching ability, you know, her in game access
and o's She she put all ofthose questions to rest. There was and
in regard obviously, Caitlyn Clark helpsenormously. Yeah, and it's hard to

(17:42):
quantify just how much, but youlook at that situation. Not only did
she get Caitlin Clark when the restof the universe wanted her, there was
no coach in America who could havecoached her better at Iowa or anywhere else.
Then Lisa bluted it. I mean, what else could you have done

(18:06):
as a coach with that team withCaitlin Clark. The only other thing I
could possibly think of is adding abunch of several talents in the transfer portal
last year to build a super teamthat might have won the national championship this
year. But LSU shows us howdifficult it is to manage that. And

(18:29):
I think Lisa Peter could look atthat and you could give her credit for
saying, you know what, Idon't want to mess with my chemistry and
not everybody wants to come and playwith a superstar because you are going to
be in the shadow. Yeah, but not everybody can handle that well or
come to Iowa or whatever. Whatare little nuance that was there made it
difficult, but whatever, she stillwent to the national title game twice.

(18:51):
She made caitl Caitlyn Clark couldn't havedone one more thing really as an individual,
then she did. Lisa Bluter didall of that, all of her,
of Caitlin Clark's potential, all ofit, and then some realized under
Lisa Bluter. And speaking for myselfand I think many other people who dealt
with Lisa Bluter, it's not asmall thing either. I can't think of

(19:12):
a single time she wasn't just wonderfulto deal with, like always thoughtful,
always had time, always just alwaysalways respectful, always appreciative. I mean
that this is this last couple ofyears too, been a grind. I

(19:34):
mean, Lisa Bluters behind things likethe last the last two Sweet sixteens,
they had like a media cocktail hourjust to thank the people in these challenging
times, just thanking the media forfinding a way to get the budget to
go travel and you know, flyand stay in a hotel or drive or

(19:56):
whatever. I mean, this isthat kind of thoughtful thing. Not everyone
does, and she's she's been behindthat kind of thinking. It's just appreciating
everybody. There's a video that wentviral last night. Somebody in the Hawkeye
Pep Band shows Jan and Lisa Blutercoming back on the plane just to thank
them for everything they've done and howimportant they are done. She's done a

(20:21):
lot of things like that, Sothere's so much goodwill built up, and
there's equally that for Jan Jensen, who gets this opportunity and certainly deserves it.
We checked with Addison Bouton, whowas on the show. Was it
last week? He was here?Yeah, last week. He's the president
of the Polk County I Club. And Lisa Bluter is still scheduled to be

(20:47):
at the Hilton Garden and West desMoines tonight. She's still planning on attending.
There are still tickets available. That'sgoing to turn into like a Lisa
Bluter appreciation night. Kirk Farrence isthere, Matt Gaytens is there. I
think Tom Brands is there, butit's gonna be Lisa Bluter appreciation night because
we haven't heard from her yet andthe people here in Polk County who she

(21:11):
has a unique connection with. It'sprobably why she's still coming. I mean,
she was here for Drake. Sheappreciates this area. This area produced
Caitlin Clark. I think it's gonnabe a nice night over there, although
there's also a game going on thatLisa Bluter might have some interest in.
If you don't know the name JanJensen, well, other than is the
associate head coach for many of theseyears, Andy, some people just aren't

(21:33):
old enough to know that she isa Drake basketball legend. I mean her
jersey number hangs from the rafters thereand in a high school game in Iowa
once she scored one hundred five points. Yeah, she was a great play,
great six on six player in highschool and then played I believe at
the fieldhouse at Drake. So itwas like a whole different era ago.

(21:53):
But that is a different There arestill a lot of pictures of Jan playing
at Drake and she was, yeahshe was when I had got there,
she had she was either a senioror she had just left. But there
was still you know, lots ofJan Jensen talk around the campus about just
how because she was like a standoutnational player and she is. She's been

(22:17):
a terrific recruiter at Drake and Iowaand known as a just like a post
play guru, her work with MonicaSonano and Hannah Stulkey, Megan Gufstason,
among many others. So really happyfor Jan that she gets this opportunity,
Caitlin Clark tweeted yesterday quote the onlyoption there ever, was you deserve this

(22:40):
more than anyone. Can't wait towatch you lead this program, speaking of
of Jan Jensen. So all ofthat is happening. The name Jenny Barroncheck
came up immediately before the Jensen announcement, was named Jenny Bronchick, of course,
also from the Des Moines area, and then was a star at Iowa
and then was at Drake. AndI think people expect some day she might

(23:04):
be back as the Iowa coach, and she still can be. And Jan
Jensen's fifty five years old. Youknow, who knows how long she'll do
this. So all of that hashappened here in Gosh since we finished the
show yesterday. By the way,the transfer portal is closed, but Iowa
players can hop in the next thirtydays. I don't think any will,

(23:26):
Lucas, have you seen anyone doit yet? No? It doesn't appear,
so I would be surprised. Iwould be shocked to I think I
think they talked to recruits that thatthis was a this was an organized roll
out here. I don't. Idon't think anybody is blind. I think
if you signed with IOWA, yousigned with those three, not just with

(23:47):
Lisa Blueter. It is time fora keyword, and I earn one thousand
dollars down from one oh six pointthree. K X and O k X
and o's bonus bucks keyword it checkcheck and KX and now dot com Up
next, the Fever travel to thefirst game tonight in luxury. Good time

(24:07):
for Murph and Andie's player today poweredby TNT Landscaping and Nursery. I lift
the opposite way. M Jblendez isinto the corner and you talk about a
basket catch and it's true as form. I'll start for that guy out there
again. One a little straight itout, a little bit more. Let's
see into the corner. Oh,we got Jerry, give that man a

(24:33):
contract TNT Landscaping and Nursery in Ankony, your home for landscaping, design,
tree shrubs and all guy's barbecue. You got that right there, big voice
guy. So the Indiana Fever tookthe first well first regular season chartered jet
to Connecticut where the Fever will playThe Sun tonight. What I wonder,

(24:59):
Andy, You're gonna be over atthe I Club gathering it. I feel
like Lisa Blueters really will want towatch this game tonight. What time?
Yeah, no kidding? What isit? Six thirty happy hours at there?
And yeah, a lot of timesthose guys get there late, they
do this would want to start thison time. This would be motivation to

(25:21):
get there early. Maybe tonight. But Addison has, the President has wants
us to make sure you know thereare still tickets available. So the game
tonight between the Fever and the SunSingular Sun completely sold out. So the
Sun's first sellout in twenty one years. Only had one other sellout in the

(25:44):
franchise's history. It was the firstgame of our first regular season game ever
played. The game tonight will beon ESPN two. The cheapest ticket is
six times more than the Sun's nexthome game, So like night, the
cheapest ticket up at the top onthe secondary market is WON ten. But

(26:04):
if you just go to the nextgame, you can get one for seventeen.
Yeah, but the problem is there'sno Caitlin Clark in the next game.
Oh okay, got that. Didn'tthink of that. Good point.
Also got this email today. Ican see the sincerity behind it. I've

(26:26):
been a coach for thirty years.I heard something that scares me the fever.
Coach Christy Sides made this statement quote, we have made some rules for
Caitlin, don't And I heard thiscomment and then this coach who emailed me
today says, my first thought,as a veteran coach is do what Lisa

(26:48):
did. Do not hinder Caitlin's freedomon the court. And he goes on
to write, I hope to Godthis new coach doesn't stifle Caitlin and make
her so focused on rules that shecan't play with the freedom that makes her
great. What are the rules? She didn't say what the rules were,

(27:08):
but in her conversation and Caitlyn, you can see in the documentary from OMAHA
Productions that's on ESPN and ABC rightnow, she talks how much about how
she likes to be coached hard andcoached up and that you know, Lisa
never stopped coaching or all of that. Last week after the game against the
Atlanta Dream coach sides the Fever.Coach said, I'm paraphrasing, but Caitlyn

(27:34):
needs to be more selective in hershot. She's not at Iowa. She
doesn't need to come down and launchfrom twenty eight feet, you know,
with a lot of time left onthe shot clock. All of that's true.
She's surrounded by a lot more talent, and I think the coach is
trying to make the point of youdon't need to take that kind of shot
until other options have been considered first. I'm guessing that's kind of what her

(28:00):
message is. She didn't say whatthe rules were, but I think they
do want her to be a littlemore structured, and I think eventually they're
going to all understand how to anticipateher passing better, because right now they're
still not They're still not continuing tothe basket and doing some of the things

(28:22):
that a great passer can can generate. Well, I mean, this isn't
Iowa basketball anymore, this is WNBA. So yeah, the the WNBA and
whomever her coach is should not immediatelylook to Lisa Blueter for you know,

(28:48):
inspiration on a coach. Caitlin Clark, you do that eventually, but I
mean you're you're a WNBA coach's she'sgot to adjust to the WNBA. I
mean at this point right not youknow, there'll be some adjustment back the
other way to you know, adjustingtoward Caitlin. But I mean, for
now, she's got to she gotto keep working on making the jump,
which is a considerable jump. That'sa huge jump, it is. And

(29:12):
I get the point of what thiscoach is saying. You don't want to
take somebody who has this natural abilityto create and kind of put them in
some system where they feel stifled.I would hope that she knows that,
But at the same time, shedoesn't know that she shouldn't be coaching in
the WNB. Yeah, well sheprobably does know it. So we'll see

(29:34):
how that goes to tonight Game one, first game, first regular season game,
Murf and Andy show one zero sixpoint three ks and now Celtics beat
the Calves three to one. Theseries feels inevitable. Other than the one
hiccup we almost got that sweet we'reanticipating didn't happen. The MAVs absolutely blew
it against the Thunder, had abig lead Luca Doncicic missed a key free

(30:00):
throw that could have tied the gameup. The MAVs blew this. Did
you watch this, locas, Yeah, I was watching the entire game.
The Mavericks were up big the entiretime. They shot fifty five percent from
the line, while the Thunder shotninety five percent. Good Observations Optastat says
there's a first playoff game in NBAhistory where each team attempted at least twenty

(30:21):
free throws. One team shot ninetyfive percent or higher, the other shot
fifty five percent or lower in thesame game on the same baskets. It
wasn't a goodn't look for the Mavericksthat they were in control of this game
the entire way they were. TheThunder just didn't have anything going offensively except
for Shay Gilders Alexander he is kindof saving the mid range jump shot.

(30:45):
He had thirty four points I think, and really all of it came from
mid range. Well, there aremany of those left. No, it's
a dying shot, yeah said,We would say that all the time.
Remember Isaiah Brockington at Iowa State acouple of years ago. So hey,
that guy, that guy just shotbetween the between the three point line and
the passed to a three pointer andgot closer to the basket. He shot
that from twelve feet. Well, who is this guy? He's a unicorn.

(31:11):
Yeah, so SGA is doing someof that too. And the Thunder
the one Seed. Really they don'tlook like the one Seed, but man,
they and the Thunder frustrated the Maverickswith defense, but jeez, that's
a They blew it. They justblew that Nuggets t Wolves tonight. I

(31:32):
don't know what to expect from thisseries, and this is back in Denver.
The home team has lost all fourgames. Anybody who's going to tell
you what to expect tonight doesn't knowwhat they're talking about because nobody has any
clue what's going to happen. SeeI I'll say I don't. I don't
really have a clue what's going tohappen. But I think this swings back
to Denver tonight and the home teamwins for the first time. But I

(31:53):
don't know. It seems like thatto me too. But I mean,
the evidence you have so far saysthat the home team is going to lose
four for four. I know someof them, most of them even haven't
been close. No, when Minnesotaplayed in Denver earlier in the series,
they blew them out. Minnesota playedgreat, there was their best two games

(32:14):
of the series. Obviously, it'sthe games they want. Pacers, Knicks
also tonight, that's Indianapolis tonight, right, series tied to two. It's
in New York. That's in NewYork tonight. Yeah. Game in the
NBA goes two to one, oneone, So no, we're starting the
one one one. Yeah, we'rein New York. Game six backs back
in Indianapolis. Games seven back toNew York, which are banged one of

(32:35):
every year because it's just the travel, especially in the finals, can be
nuts. It is crazy. Sothe Knicks are banged up, that's your
team. You're wearing your New Yorkjersey today despite losing by eighty this weekend.
Hey cut it in half. Uhwhat do you think? The Knicks
are just so hobbled right now.But there's a bunch of nationals national sports

(32:57):
media saying that it's Thibodau's fault foroverplaying as guys. I don't believe so
o. We're playing his guys thewhole season. Yes, more than this
series sparking all of the above.Oh, these guys play less than NBA
players have ever played by far. It's just the Knicks they have they've had
more injuries, So they're trying. The media outlets are looking for what's different,

(33:17):
What do the Knicks do differently thatcould be leading to more injuries.
So they're trying to blame it onTIBs in the heavy minutes when there's a
sixty five game threshold that you hadto play sixty five games to even win
an award, So it's like we'recomplaining about both ends. Sixty five out
of eighty two. That's not thatmany, all right. It is the

(33:38):
MURFP and Andy Show in one ohsix point three KX and OL Action Network
and some of the other books.Today, Andy put up the over unders
for the upcoming football season. Okay, are you aware of the totals?
No? Are you aware of thetotals Lucas? Yeah, Okay, then
you can't play them out for awhile. Okay, So Iowa State twelve

(33:59):
game regular season? What do youthink twelve year Texas and Oklahoma leaving the
Big twelve? More there is over? Under? Is eight or nine?
I'm gonna say I'm gonna say.I'm gonna say nine for Iowa State.
Yeah, the over under seven anda half. So you're taking the over

(34:22):
all, right, you're taking theover. Well, I thought you were
telling Are you gonna tell me whatthe over and under is? And it's
seven and a half. Yeah,no, I know, but I didn't
know it before you. Oh.Well, what I'm saying is if you
were guessing it's eight or nine, now that you know it's seven and a
half, I think it would takethe over. Okay, Iowa, what
is it? I want you toguess what you just said. You didn't
want me to guess. I'm changingmy mind. Uh, the over under

(34:45):
on Iowa is nine. It's sevenand a half as well, terrible at
this it's only seven and a half. And well, yeah, obviously they're
getting a much tougher schedule, ora tougher schedule, tougher shore. When's
the last time Iowa has has notwon at least eight games? You know,

(35:06):
off the top of your head,it's got to be pushing a decade.
They did it every year I wasin college a couple of years before
that. You take it over theretoo, right with that defense and the
offense has to be better, becauseit can't be worse. Defense is losing
a lot, including the punter. The punter is although they just went back
to Australia and got another guy,I don't know if he's going to work

(35:27):
out that well. It'd be hardto be hard to work out as well
as Tory Taylor did. But yeah, I think you'd take the I think
you'd take the over All. Lasttime that Iowa did not win at least
eight games in a season, notcounting the shortened COVID year where they went
six and two, was twenty fourteen, when they went seven and six.
So we're in ten years here. We're in ten years. We've had some

(35:50):
very favorable schedules, and the Westis has been Bad's that's a big part
of it, for sure, bigpart because because last year Iowa won ten
games but didn't score against ranked teams. Yeah, I mean, I just
but you just kind of always feellike they're gonna be close in those games.

(36:12):
I don't know, though, Ijust boy, without Tory Taylor,
are they going to be able tojust pun him to death anymore? They
did that so many times. Heis a lost and then just let the
defense hold on twelve regular season games. The highs in the country are Ohio
State at ten and a half Oregonat ten and a half. Those are

(36:36):
among the teams that have the most. Kansas State and Utah lead the Big
Twelve with nine and a half.Nine. Utah, Yeah, Utah Big
twelve. You don't think Utah likeI still talking to Colin, who's on
break from Arizona State. We've hada couple of conversations where we've had to
catch ourselves at Arizona State is nowin the Big Twelve. What are they

(37:01):
gonna look like? You just haveno idea. Next on The Murph and
Andy Show Live on one oh sixpoint three Kicks and No it is throwdowns
six times on the show. Allright, guys, let's throw it down.
Murbinadi Show one oh six point threeKicks and Know So, uh,

(37:22):
which game do you think will gethigher ratings? Caitlin Clark's first game tonight
or the NBA Finals Game one?So some information to help you out.
Last year's Game one in the NBAFinals averaged eleven and a half million viewers.
The WNBA hasn't had a game thataveraged over one million viewers since Candice

(37:44):
Parker's debut in two thousand and eight, who is now retired. So which
game is going to draw higher ratings? NBA Finals Game one. I think
we'll have significantly higher ratings. Ido think this will be the most watched
NBAWNBA game in history tonight. We'veseen what the draft. The draft alone
had four or five times the previousrecord audience, So I think we'll see

(38:07):
a record tonight, but not we'renot seeing I don't expect ten or eleven
million. And you don't have thepoll that the college game had, and
the Fever don't play to the previousemail from that coach, the Fever don't
play the style that people love towatch Caitlin Clarkin, which is just running

(38:29):
down pulling up a thirty foot shot. It's a much more structured offense,
and you know they've been scoring likein the seventies and eighties. It's a
different game. I think people willprobably remember, though, the numbers that
you saw the Hawkeyes pull in andin the Final four just recently, it'd
be like, oh, those numberswill equal that or beat it. But

(38:52):
that's a different game at a differenttime on a you know, for kind
of a different, different day ofthe week, more competition tonight. I
mean the Nuggets Timberwolves is a isa good game for one, and then
you got the Knicks Pacers same night. Yeah, and the the WNBA and
women's college basketball are two different They'retwo different things. So no, I

(39:14):
think I agree with that. Ithink it'll be the highest rated game ever,
but it's still going to be belowwhat the NBA Finals can pull on
them. And that's the The WNBAFinals last year got seven hundred and twenty
five thousand people and the NBA Finalsaveraged this eleven and a half million.

(39:35):
There's a difference. Well, nowthere's Caitlin Clark and that's a going to
make a big, big chunk ofthat difference. But that's such a big
difference. And one of the thingswe don't know yet and it will be
interesting to see, is how howlong before the interest fades some you know,
is it a week, is ita month, or is it just
somehow going to sustain to the Olympics, because she'll be in the Olympics,

(40:00):
which will also be Yeah, greatratings. Speaking of the WNBA, Golden
State will be getting the fourteenth teamin the association. The Valkyrie Valkyries will
be in California. So I wantto ask the question, which do you
think should have been done first?Expand the wa and add more teams like
they're doing right now, or increasethe salaries of the players currently in the

(40:22):
league. Which do you think shouldhave been done first? Well, that's
a really good question, Lucas.I don't have an expert answer on this.
I understand what they're doing because theyfeel they feel the momentum of this
moment. They're also in a negotiatingyear and the media rights to the WNBA

(40:46):
has just kind of been thrown inas part of the NBA package. They
feel like they can negotiate their owndeal now, which could change everything.
And there's no nothing more valuable inentertainment than live sports, so I think
they're going to get a big deal. So they need more teams, Andy,
Twelve's not enough. There aren't enoughspots. I mean, Kate Martin

(41:07):
was the lowest drafted person to makea roster and she was what eighteenth overall
something like that, early second round, So they need a couple more teams.
This gets them up to fourteen.Yeah, the fact that eighteenth overall
is early second round tells you alot of things right there. They need

(41:28):
to put the money back into theproduct right now before they pay out more
for labor, you know. Imean, I understand that people really want
there to be a smaller gap betweenwhat the women make and what the men
make. But the men have amuch more profitable product. People just have

(41:50):
got to get that through their headsand to make a more profitable product in
the WNBA. And they need toincrease a number of teams. That's a
giant market. It has no teamright now, the San Francisco Bay Area.
That's it's one of the that's likemarket number six. Valkyries. The
Valkyries, I do like that.Like that. It's a lot of syllables.
Yeah, but they call them thevalves. Have you ever seen the

(42:10):
Tom Cruise movie Valve Valks? No, I haven't seen Valkyrie. All right.
That is our one of the MurphyAndy Show back with our two trending
Iowa coming up.
