From the Jethrows Barbecue Studio with amazingslow smoked wings and world famous baby back
rids. This is Des Moines SportsStation one O six point three k X
and OL Jeez Murphy, the BigHairy American winning Machine, Andy Faelds.
I got a guy on the otherline about some white walls. I'll talk
to you later. It's The MurphyShow on fourteen sixty and now one O

(00:27):
six point three FM. We welcomeyou to the Murph and Andy Show on
Wednesday. We're live on one Osix point three k X and O streaming
live at kxno dot com alongside AndyFails and Lucas Strain with sports and more.
I'm Keith Murphy. Andy. Ijust got back from shopping sending something

(00:51):
to Japan like shopping shipping charges.I've never known about this world, but
we just had somebody I've told youabout it on the show that was so
kind to us. We just wantedto send something to them. And have
you ever done this where the shippingis now exponentially more than the item is
worth? Yeah, So the upsoption was two hundred and ten dollars.

(01:15):
Oh man. The US Postal Serviceslowest rate of delivery seventy dollars, so
I picked the seventy dollars. Butthat is quite a bit more than the
photo canvas inside the box that we'resending worth quite a bit more. But
it feels good. Every now andthen I'll get something through the mail.

(01:40):
Sometimes I'll buy stuff from like aneBay seller, and you could tell it's
like the cheapest shipping option, andthey figured it out, and the thing
gets there and the bags all beatup or torn, the box has like
rounded corners. It used to becalled book rate. I don't know if
they do that anymore because people don'tship books as much as they used to,

(02:01):
but I remember that would be inthe broadcasting business. If you would
send out your VHS demo reel oryour tape, you would send it book
rate because it was just considerably cheaperthan the other methods. And I knew
this well because my parents always theywanted all our newscasts every week, so

(02:22):
at the end of the week Iwould send them a book rate VHS tape
and if it was late, i'dhear about it. Still pretty amazing that
you can send something around the worldlike that. Yeah, I'd been able
to do that for so long meansseventy dollars to the one of the towns
by Mount Fuji that still decent asa pretty big box. But yeah,

(02:44):
so did that. Hey, theTwisters movie, the new one it is
out and the the not out,but the new trailers out caused a little
bit of a star here in Iowa. Today. Tyler Lewans calls himself a
tornado ring. You know, ourcrew is not like your crew. What

(03:09):
change where then? Can't We don'tneed PhDs and fancy tech. Sometimes the
old ways are better than the new. So Glenn Powell is the star of
this andy. This guy has justmoved right into the cocky leading man role.

(03:34):
I don't know who he's replacing,but he's like he's basically playing the
same role he played in Top GunMaverick. There his hangman. I tried
watching that movie with him, anduh, Sidney Sweeney, Sidney Sweeney,
what is that? Anything? Anyonebut anyone but you. I tried watching
that the other day. I couldn'tcouldn't get into it. It's it wasn't
It wasn't believable to me that thetwo of them were not getting along.

(03:58):
That was not believable to me.Yeah, she's not what i'd call a
real comedic after it either. No, And she's trying to do a lot
of physical humor, like in thebathroom with the hair dryer and that kind
of stuff when she spilled something.Yeah, when she's like putting her foot
up on the sink and stuff.Yeah, you're trying to dry her jeans.
They're both too good looking to imaginethat the other one is not attracted

(04:23):
to them, you know. SoI was like, I couldn't get into
that. Oh yeah, yeah, when you're on the plane, that's that.
That's good. You can usually wantI can usually watch a whole movie
while I'm on the plane. It'sa lot harder for me these days.
It's hard for me to watch awhole movie these days. It is you
just got so many options. Ifyou don't, If I don't get into
it, and you're so distracted, you don't get your phones with you the

(04:45):
whole time, don't get into itin the first five minutes, I'm out.
That movie is ridiculous. But Iwas still entertained by on a thirteen
hour flight. It was a wayto pass the time. But he's uh,
I do like him. He's He'san interesting movie great in Maverick.
It's kind of a new movie star. We have a quickie poll about the
Twisters movie Twister. This is Twisters, right, this is with an S.

(05:09):
Yeah, so it has been twentyeight years. So this is a
sequel to Twister, a reimagining.Maybe I don't know that it's a sequel,
so I've only I haven't seen Twistersince I was like eight years old.
Yeah. The in this trailer, the female they're talking to, they're
talking to her like, we gotto have you back. So I was
wondering was there a little girl inthe original Twister that was helping with all

(05:32):
this? Maybe was along for theride, Not that I remember, but
Helen Hunt. They kept showing flashbacksof her when she was a little girl
in the storm shelter and she's youknow, she sees the Twister up close
and that ends up changing her lifeforever. I think one of her parents
might have died in the Twist orsomething, but that's what makes her obsessed

(05:55):
with tornadoes. Okay, then I'mnot sure because I don't know the female.
At the beginning, they keeps saying, are we got to get you
back into the game? Yeah,we gotta get you. We got to
get your storm chasing. And shedoesn't look old enough to have been out
of the game very long. No, she looks like she's in her early
twenties, mid twenties. Maybe Idon't know, I don't know. I
don't know who the so maybe inthe same universe. We don't know yet.
Anyway, was that Helen Hunt andBill Paxton? Yeah, Bill Paxton,

(06:16):
the late Bill and Philip seymour Hoffand some of that was filmed here
in Iowa or yeah, yeah, they for for a couple of days.
They were up at WI on thewhen it was in ames And remember we
were we're so disappointed when it cameout. By the time it came out,
I was, I was at whothirteen. But when it came out,

(06:40):
we were expecting to see some ofthe you know, the station,
and those scenes all got cut andthe only thing that was left was our
meteorologist who now works in Dallas namedRick Mitchell. You can hear his voice
through the TV and coming over theTV with warnings several times. And we
still thought that was cool, butthat that was the only thing that was

(07:01):
all that made it, Like Iremember, Sonya recorded some scenes up there.
Those were cut, so there wasthey they make so much in a
movie that ends up not not makingit, But that was that was filmed
in Oklahoma and Iowa. I thinkthis one is primarily filmed in Oklahoma.

(07:23):
I'm not sure. I'm not surewhere it was filmed, but it takes
place in Oklahoma, so I meanit makes sense meet you would imagine it
was filmed there as well. Andthis is the time of year where tornadoes
are kind of on our mind. We've had an active week of weather.
So the quickie poll from wc I, Pools and spas. Are you interested
in seeing the new Twisters movie?Yes, I'm in. I'll go,
but I'm not proud waiting for streamingno way, I'm out. Yeah,

(07:45):
I'm in. It looks it looksridiculous, but a good disaster movie like
this. I've gone to these mywhole life. I'll go to this.
I think it looks really good, but I haven't been to a movie in
a long time. I just waitfor everything to come out on streaming.
I'm gonna do it the same wayhere. Okay, if I were to
hear great reviews from people that justsaid this was a fantastic movie. I

(08:07):
would consider seeing it in the theater. It looks like a popcorn movie for
sure, doesn't look like a realisticmovie. Yeah, Chase, I'm not
just going though. I gotta getsome feedback first. If I don't get
good feedback, I'll never watch it, I know myself. Interesting. Okay,
let's get to the one at oneone at one with Murph and Andy

(08:28):
on one oh six point three kx O powered by Kuberski Brothers lawn Cheer
We Bring Lawns to Life. VisitKuberski Brothers dot com. This came up
yesterday and it kind of goes back. It's like a callback to what's bugging
Andy. But the w NBA didannounce plans to commit fifty million dollars over

(08:50):
the next two years to provide fulltime charter flight service for teams during the
season. Kathy Engelbert's the commissioner shennouncedthat yesterday. It was kind of an
odd announcement that she was just happenedto be talking to sports editors and she
brought it up. But then theydidn't have a release about it, they
didn't have it on their page.It was almost like she had libbed it

(09:13):
or brought it up before they hadplanned, because this is a big announcement,
is fifty million dollars. And whathappened last week? It was Friday
that the Fever played the Wings andthe story went kind of viral watching you
know, Caitlin Clark, a LeahBoston, the rest of the Fever like
waiting at the luggage carousel and people, you know, everyone's cell phone cameras

(09:37):
and film cruiser there and there werea lot of people that didn't realize that
they didn't take charter flights. Sothere was the immediate outrage of well,
the NBA players have charter flights andthey don't ever have to handle their luggager
stand in a TSA line. Andone of the things, one of the
things that was kind of missing fromsome of that reporting Andy was well,

(10:00):
the NBA makes a fortune and theWNBA has either lost money or is barely
getting by, so there's a hugegulf in the revenue. And some people
didn't care about that. They said, you know, it doesn't matter what
it costs or how much money isbeing generated. You can't have Caitlin Clark,
at her level of fame standing ina tsa line or waiting at the

(10:22):
luggage carousel. So it started thisdebate back and forth in the WNBA without
giving a specific time as committed tocharter flights. Yeah, I mean you
have imbalances like this when when thereare growing, when something's growing, right,
I mean, exposure gets ahead ofthe money. It's usually that way.
It's usually not the money getting aheadof the hype or the exposure.

(10:45):
I mean it's the WNBA has beenvery careful about it's money. You know,
it hasn't it hasn't grown too fast. I mean there's only twelve teams.
It's a league that's been around fora long time, twenty eight years.
Yeah, uh, limited rosters. They have closely guarded salary caps and
and and that. I mean theyreally have uh pinned down their finances and

(11:09):
and kept them from they have notbeen living above their means. They've been
careful about that, and I thinkthat's been smart. But now they're growing
and their exposure is blown up,and you know the question is, okay,
well can they can they bet thatthat this is going to turn into
more revenue for them and go aheadand and start spending more. I believe

(11:31):
they can't I do too. Ithink it's safe. But there have been
a couple of situations where I mean, first of all, if you just
and we almost need to kind ofstep out of our own little ring here
and pretend like we're we're watching theCaitlin Clark uh situation from you know,
uh Albuquerque, New Mexico or somebody, and you're somebody that's not covered her.

(11:52):
And then you you see these sceneswhere she walks into these crowds and
there's all these people that immediately recognizeher and they I mean, first of
all, they get in her wayand she can't make it to the next
stop on time. But then Imean, she just really feels obligated to
stop and sign autographs forever. Andthen the word just gets out so quickly

(12:13):
now because everybody's got a phone intheir hand. And then you have situations
like Britney Griner where she's harassed atat an airport by some you know YouTuber
that wants to you know, avideo to go viral, and he goes
after her, you know, inthe in the airport and that was a
really bad look. And you can'thave that, I mean, you just
can't. So there are a coupleof different situations. You got to kind

(12:33):
of, you know, manage nowthat the uh that that the profile of
the league has come up. Imean you have to, you know,
account for people who mean well andjust want more of these players time,
and people who mean unwell and reallywant to get in their way and and

(12:54):
and cause problems and you know,I mean you can that's the problem than
airport. I mean, it's abig public place and there's always people there,
I mean always, and word getsout very quickly. Everybody's got their
phone out there, and you justkind of have to accept the fact that
they need to avoid those those airports. Now they need to do the charter

(13:18):
stuff. But yeah, I meanit's way more expensive, and it's it's
the difference in TV ratings. Imean, it's going to change a lot
this year, but it needs tochange so much more to be even close
to being equal. I mean, last year you had the highest rated WNBA

(13:39):
Finals in twenty years. I thinkit was still fewer than a million people
watching. It was about seven hundredand twenty five thousand people on average.
And the NBA Finals those are prettypretty highly rated too, but they were
only the highest rate in the lastfive and that drew like eleven point six
million, So it's not even closeat this point. So you understand,

(14:01):
I mean the difference in revenue andexpendit shurees and that. That stuff's easy
to explain, but to a certainpoint, you have to think of safety
and you just kind of have tothink of of appearances. I think there's
gonna be a big game changer here. We're seeing it. The ratings are
going to go up, there's nodoubt about that. Now how long can
it be sustained? We don't knowthat yet, but the ratings are going

(14:22):
up. It's mostly Clark driven. It's not all Clark driven, but it
is mostly Clark driven. So isthis deal? This doesn't happen if Caitlin
Clark is not in the WNBA thisyear. And that's one of the things
that's going to get her more widespreadacceptance, Like, oh, good things
are coming to the league because she'sin the league. Now, I think
you know more and more you're goingto see that. It's like more like

(14:43):
we said, it's going to bemore money, it's going to be more
exposure. It's they're going to bemore fans at games and more and more.
Even the reluctant, bitter old guardis going to come to be like,
oh, this has been a goodthing for me that Caitlyn Clark is
here. So I think the somepositive there, the the I its publicly

(15:05):
funded or something now and there isany reason for people to be annoyed with
this or no, it's it's catalysm, the the and the Then the other
part of it is streaming rights forlive sports, even for sports that are
not a huge runaway hit like theNFL, just continue to go up.
Like there are people who thought theNBA was about to get some humble pie.

(15:28):
There is a bidding war going onright now for NBA media rights and
they are going it's going way up. They're gonna have even more money,
far more money, and salaries aregoing to go up even more, which
is going to drive even more peoplecrazy. But that's how much There are
several companies right now that are biddingway above what anybody expected. So the

(15:50):
w NBA, when we start tosee these numbers come in here in the
next few weeks, how many peopleare watching and how much more it is
than any previous year, You're goingto see that the next media rights deal
will pay for these charter flights, not that any of us are paying for
it anyway. I was thinking aboutthat the other day. I mean,
if you're gonna make a risky betin this day and age, make it

(16:11):
on sports coverage, right on sportsviewing, unless it's a competitor to the
NFL, then don't bet any moneyon that. Yeah, isn't that funny?
Like I mean, like the MLSis, that's doing really well.
There are there is room you know, for play for for leagues like the
MLS and the WNBA. There's roombecause people will take a ninche now gladly

(16:37):
just something that gets people to alive event. Being able to guarantee a
small segment of the television viewing audienceright now is huge. Absolutely, it
didn't used to be. It's hugenow. But if you are looking at
starting an alternate football league, thereis not room for you locally. We
have an example. You know, twenty years ago, you wouldn't put local

(17:00):
high school football up against a juggernautlineup on the local affiliates. It probably
wouldn't do that well now, atleast to night. Yeah, that's a
good example there, and it doesn'tcompete with the NFL and it doesn't.
Yeah, it doesn't. We'll competewith cost Kop Murph and Andy Show here.
Kate Martin, former Hawkeye. Shemakes the twelve player ACES roster.

(17:22):
That's that's really good for her.Drafted in the second round, kind of
surprisingly to most people. It doesn'tnecessarily guarantee that she's going to be on
the roster, but it's a reallygood sign. What happens now is teams
take a look at who else wascut and they can still make moves if
they want to. But the finaltwelve player roster, she's on it,

(17:44):
along with Kia Stokes who has Iowaconnections, and Megan Gustuson who we know
from Iowa's a lot of people inthe Aces. Back to Caitlin Clark for
just a moment. Indianapolis sports writerBob Kravitz was the first to report yesterday
that Greg Doyle of the Star iscurrently suspended for two weeks and the Pacers
are in the playoffs, by theway, and the Stars lead sports writer

(18:07):
is not covering that right now,and Doyle, according to Kravitz, will
not be able to cover Caitlin Clarkand the Fever live in person. This
year him not covering the fever.I guess that makes some sense to me,
at least initially. It would bea huge distraction for all involved.

(18:33):
It is a it's a curious say, you and I were out of town
when this happened, so we didn'treally have a chance to kind of go
over this. I was headed toSaint Louis when this was all going on.
I wasn't even sure what was goingon, and I, you know,
it's it's one of those things thatI think from a distance, a
lot of people look at this andthey're like, what what was the problem?

(18:56):
What? What was it? Andit was just weird. It was
awkward, It was uncomfortable, uncomfortable, weird. It was kind of slimy
is too strong, but just kindof you just like, what what do
you what do you think? Whatare you doing? Why you're saying that
it's just weird, uncomfortable. Youknow. Greg Doyle is a guy that

(19:25):
you know, lives life in hisown lane of traffic. You know,
he's a columnist, and he isone of the few columnists it seems like,
left out there that just sort ofhas carte blanche to do what he
do. What he wants, andhe's he's a guy that I think is
really kind of sewed his oats assomebody who doesn't care what people think,
right. I mean, he's gonnatell you what he thinks, and then

(19:47):
he's got pretty thick skin and he'snot gonna, you know, he's not
going to uh uh streamline his opinionsfor anybody else. But he also just
is kind of a we met himin person, he's kind of prickly,
he's a little it seems like hemight be difficult for his bosses to deal

(20:10):
with, you know what I meanby that. I think he's got and
he's been very successful. He's verysmart, but I think he is so
used to kind of just doing whateverhe wants that sometimes, you know,
it's kind of hard. Sometimes thosepeople get get a reality check now and
then I I I have been askedwhat I think about it, and there's

(20:33):
a few things that come to mymind. One is I don't really know
him. I've met him, butI don't know him. I certainly don't
know what's in his heart. Idon't know that what he brought up was
it was awkward, it was uncomfortable. I thought Caitlin Clark handled it really
well, but you know, Idon't I don't know exactly what he meant
when he's like, you know, just give me that heart symbol, and

(20:56):
you know, do that to meeach time you see me and we'll be
just fine. I don't think hewas hitting on her. I don't either,
But I also don't think he wouldsay that to an NBA player,
So why say it to a wOBAplayer. It's just where it was an
awkward exchange. He did apologize toher, maybe went over the top with
whatever that apology was, that itwas kind of meandering all over the place.

(21:21):
He apologized to her and her family. It seems like people had kind
of moved on. Also, Ihave I've certainly put my foot in my
mouth before or tried to be funnyand had it not be funny before,
and had it just be kind ofawkward. So I do have some empathy
for that. I don't think,you know, I don't think we need

(21:41):
to go firing people are ruining careersover a misstep of this kind. But
I do understand them not wanting himto cover the fever right now until they
figure out why was that exchange soawkward and Also it kind of goes to
and again, I think you've probablydone this. I've done this. It's
just it's a reminder when you're thereporter asking the question, people are not

(22:03):
there to hear what you have tosay. Yeah, he kind of made
himself. It's like he was likehaving a little spotlight moment. Congratulations you
get to be here with me.Yeah, And he also asked the coach
something weird about like, you've beengiven a ferrari here, how are you
going to use that? You knowthat just those are odd things to say.
So, yeah, that's that's howI felt I was watching it.

(22:26):
I was just like I felt uncomfortable, like second embarrassment. Yeah, and
not because I thought he was likehitting on her, but just because like
what what what? Why? Whatlane are you picking here? This is
weird. It feels like, yeah, in those initial situations, you should
just air on the side of cautionand just you know, just be real,
kind of cut and dry and aska real normal question until you get

(22:49):
to know everybody a little bit more. I mean, like approach it like
this is a really important person thatyou're meeting for the first time, So
mind your p's and q's. Wehave a keyword here on a Wednesday twinning
one thousand dollars now from one ohsix point three k X and O k
X and OS Bonus bunks. Keywordis money at KX and O dot com.

(23:11):
It is money all right. Whenwe come back on the Murph and
Andy Show, more, including around of Who's the a Hole? More
is brought to you today by eitheror Eatery and Patio sixty two twenty two
Grand Avenue kind of down to thebottom of the hill. There is Grand
intersects with First Street slash sixty thirdStreet, depending on which direction you're driving.

(23:34):
A river is not near the bridgethere or anything right now? Is
it the river? Yeah, there'sa little little river creek. Is that
a creek? Is that officially that'sa creek? Yeah, creek? Yeah.
I bet it's got a lot ofwater. And everything's got a lot
of water right now. I knowthat video yesterday. It's like whoa yeah
we uh we we have put alot of rain in the ground and in

(23:57):
the rivers and reservoirs around. Haveyou seen sailor vills closed? A number
of the boat launches the the theRaccoon River over in uh Waterworks Park is
like right up to the lip. What's the red Red One? What's that
called the red One? Yeah?Red Red something, Red Creek, Red,

(24:18):
the Red the Big Red One,the Big Big Red the Lee Marvin
movie Red Red. What I don'tknow, isn't there something that has red
in the name? Red Rum?Yeah, that's murder backwards right. I
don't are you talking about Waterworks Parkor a river. I'm talking about a
water like, you know, abody of water where people go the Red

(24:45):
Sea in Central Iowa. Red Rock, Yeah, Lake Red Rock? Yeah,
Red Rock? Yeah, yeah, yep, yeap from the jump that's
on. Well, it wasn't surewhere you were going. You were talking
about waterworks. Uh yeah, yeah. Way downstream is Lake Red Rock near
Pillow. Okay, that's that's wheremy son Colin and his friends are going

(25:08):
today. And yeah that's how I'msure that's high too, yep, Okay,
yeah, I mean it's I thinkyou can still get out there.
I just think some of the lowerboat ramps are underwater right now. We
were over at Waterworks Park. TheLords and Amphitheater has got cake playing on
Saturday, and they're actually in goodshape and it's funny it's been a long

(25:30):
time since we've had flooding here.So it's been about five years, has
it. Yeah, and then we'vefinished with you. Yeah, since we've
had major flooding. We should saywe've been in a long drought. We
had the pandemic one year. Wedidn't really have to worry about outdoor stuff
didn't didn't come up. But inthat time the lawds and amphitheaters has been

(25:53):
built, and it is built toget flooded. It's really interesting. I
was over there yesterday. It's gotlike a moat around it. It's actually
fifteen feet higher than Gray's Lake. It's it's higher than the backfield over a
waterworks, which does still get flooded. And it's just got all of this

(26:18):
landscaping, these like water loving treesand plants all around it that soak up
extra water. So it's really builtto take on water. So it's a
it's in good shape. So there, it's dry, it's it's ready to
go at this point for the concertthis weekend. Today is Have a Coke
Day. Coca Cola the largest nonalcoholic beverage company in the world. It

(26:41):
is sold in more than two hundredcompanies or countries. In fact, more
than one point eight billion glasses ofcoke served every day. It's named after
the coca leaves that originally produced itsflavor, and yes, the myth is
true. The original Coca cola recipehad nine milligrams of cocaine her glass.
Geez how it first got its popularnine mills of coke? That film a

(27:06):
thc that's just filmed cocaine. Innineteen oh three, Coca Cola began using
a non narcotic coca leaf extract toprovide the distinctive flavor. John Pemberton is
the one who invented coca cola.I originally intended it as a medicinal syrup
to alleviate fatigue and headaches with cocaine. With cocaine, Yeah, what do

(27:30):
you want to bet? It wasthe cocaine in there that was doing the
good. And you know, somepeople bought the new their version of new
coke at nineteen hundred, and they'relike, hang on, man, I'm
not feeling the same thing. Thisdoesn't seem the same. They changed something.
I bet that was that had astronger reaction than the new Coca nineteen
five, isn't it? Yeah?Shake man, where's the high How about

(27:53):
our man Mark Woodley. If youwatched seen him on Facebook, he's climbing
on Mount Everest over in Nepal. He does not play around. That's awesome.
I know he's adventure I didn't knowhe did that stuff. He's an
adventurer. He is. He andhis uh, he and his wife have
true whatever that is you you knowthe Machu Peak. They've they've climbed that

(28:15):
the whole way, staying in thestuff, up and down. That's awesome.
Yeah, he does that kind ofso he's over like acclimated, acclimating
at base camp. I assume he'snot climbing to the He's not gonna summit
Mount Everest. That's a huge undertaking. I wouldn't think so. But if
he did that, that'd be anotherweather report he could do up there.
He's invited Jenny and me to somethingat the end of the summer and we

(28:37):
said yes. But he's got heknows me. He's got to know I'm
not climbing. Is it? Isit a an outdoor event? It is?
Yeah, what is it? Idon't know. I need to look
into it. We just said, just said yes, said yes blindly.
Well, I think it's it's kindof cool. Good for him that that
would be an amazing, amazing bucketlist trip. Uh. The fresh del

(28:59):
Monte the Fruit Company is added again, this time rolling out the brand new
four hundred dollars ruby glow pineapple. What This pricey treat takes two years to
grow and only a few thousand arebeing released into the market. The so
called designer fruit was created in CostaRica after fifteen years of research using traditional

(29:25):
cross breeding techniques to combine a conventionalpineapple with a dark red purple or dark
red or red purple Morada variety foundpredominantly in Venezuela and Colombia. That's another
type of pineapple, but they combinedtwo together to make it into this one.
It's really cool looking. It's amazingactually. It's ruby red in color,

(29:52):
extremely sweet, very juicy. It'sgood for the digestive system. It
alleviates arthritis, titans, sagging skin, and leaves anyone who eats it with
a giant erection. Is it upsidedown? No, it's right. Set
up from US News and World Report, a comparison of all fifty states using
more than seventy metrics in eight maincategories, healthcare, education, the economy,

(30:18):
infrastructure, opportunity, fiscal stability, crime and corrections, and natural environment.
And they've come up with a newlist of the top ten best states
in the United States. Number tenis Massachusetts, number nine, Florida number
eight, Washington number seven, Vermontnumber six, Iowa number five, Idaho

(30:47):
three, Minnesota. I got tocome off the county missed. I missed
a. Number four is Minnesota,Nebraska is three, New Hampshire two,
and Utah is the best state inAmerica. Utah. So though, for
those of you scoring at home, that's four blue states, five red states
in one purple state. Now,what's purple New Hampshire For those of you

(31:11):
scoring at home, I'm sorry. Those of you scoring at home are also
going to want to know the worststates. Oh yeah, we're going south.
The very worst is Louisiana, followedby New Mexico, Mississippi, Arkansas,
and West Virginia. That is fourred states in one blue state.
For those of you scoring at home. A Florida deputy is recovering after being

(31:34):
attacked by a Florida man. JamesAnderson, been a chunk out of the
deputy's head while attempting to grab theofficer's gun during the incident, prompting the
deputy to chase Anderson before several otherdeputies were able to wade in and restrain
him. As the investigation continued,it revealed that Anderson was under the influence

(31:56):
of a cocktail of illicit illicit substancesincluding pcp LSD, ketamine, mushrooms,
and ecstasy at the time of theassault. That is a cocktail? Is
that it? Now? He's alsodrunk. He's now in jail facing a
litany of charges, and meanwhile thedeputies undergoing a series of antibiotics, antibiotics,

(32:22):
antibiotics, bio biotics. Time nowfor a game of Who's the A
hole? Love these games? It'stime now for Murphy Andy's who's the at
all? Hey all? Is thatyou? So? The guy writes.
I met my wife Rona when wewere in college together. I made the

(32:46):
obviously terrible assumption that the fact shewas in post secondary education meant she had
a modicum of common sense. Wefound an apartment and lived together for two
years before getting married. All good, so far. At our wedding,
I met an old friend of hersAnna. She offered to read my palm

(33:08):
since she was part gypsy. Weird. I'm in construction and I know a
few people from that group, andthey call themselves romani you know, they
don't say gypsy. She makes costumesfor the Theater World in New York City.
Whatever. Okay, so he's okayso far, he's just curious.

(33:28):
Yeah, she's a little clearly,a little odd. Yeah. Last time
she came to town was Labor Dayof last year, and that's when it
got weird. All of a sudden, Rona starts acting oddly. She starts
checking in on me at work. This is the front. Oh no,
I'm sorry that his wife is Rona. Anna is the friend. Yeah,

(33:50):
okay, his wife starts checking inon him at work, coming by when
I'm working late, asking to usemy phone because hers is almost out of
power, that sort of thing. She finally comes out and accuses me of
having an affair. I thought shewas joking, so I laugh and say
that I'm not, and this setsher off like a Roman candle. Because

(34:10):
Anna told her I would laugh itoff. When Rona came for the truth,
I laughed because it was ridiculous.I barely have time for a relationship
with my wife and my job.I'm home all weekend long. When I
go golfing, her brother is almostalways either in moy foursome or at the
club. And most important of all, I love my wife. I wouldn't

(34:35):
do anything to harm her, andyet she takes the word of Anna the
psychic seamstress over mine. She askedme to leave our apartment. I say
no because I have nowhere else togo. So she leaves and moves back
in with her parents. They thinkshe's nuts too. I spent the next
few months working and trying to convinceher that I'm not cheating and that I

(34:57):
want her to come home. Idon't get invited to Thanksgiving because it would
be awkward. I didn't even stickaround for Christmas. I went home to
see my family at Christmas. Myfamily had an intervention. They said my
wife was having a break from realityand she wasn't coming out of it.
So when I got back, Iwent to a lawyer and started the divorce
proceedings. That was in January. Finally, at the beginning of April,

(35:22):
Rona calls me to talk. Isay that we should talk through lawyers.
She starts to cry and I greetto meet her in public. If she
will allow me to record our conversationso I can give a copy to my
lawyers. Eventually agrees it is betterthan some Netflix movies I've watched lately.
Turns out she and her parents hireda private detective to find my affair.

(35:44):
Six months in a huge bill later, is zero evidence of an affair.
She finally believes me and wants tocome home. I tell her that our
lease is up in July and Ialready found a job in Denver, near
my family. She says she wouldcome with me. I respectfully declined.
I told her we just weren't rightfor each other anyway. I'm moving ahead
with my divorce. I'm gutted thatshe took her friend's psychic vibrations over mine.

(36:07):
Her family has approached me several times. The last time her dad offered
to front us at twenty five percentdown payment on a house if I agreed
to go to marriage counseling instead ofjust leaving. I politely declined. Rona
is now depressed and is begging foranother chance, but I see no way
of ever trusting her again. Ido still love her, but this is
too much. Some of my friendsthink that I should give her another chance

(36:30):
without the psychic friend meddling around.I don't want to give into that.
Who's the a hole man? I'mexhausted from this. I went through a
lot of emotions following this. Yeah, they needed a marriage counselor long ago,

(36:51):
like they probably needed professional help becauseshe was in some alternate reality that
he probably wasn't going to talk herout of. Probably needed a professional somehow.
Her friend was like gaslighting her.Yes, it does. He's going
to tell you that you're nuts, but you're not nuts because she knows if
he's not having an affair, ormaybe even if he is, his reaction

(37:12):
is going to be to laugh atall. So she plants that seed.
Yeah, which, yeah, thatdoes not take a psychic to predict that.
Yeah, it appears from all ofthis like the trust is so broken
that he can't ever get it back. And I can kind of understand that
this is a lot. It's prettyquick, I mean from labor day to

(37:34):
January. Yeah, but this ishow many months labor day to January I
don't know, four months. That'sa must have been a bad four months.
Yeah, geez, that's and heand to think that like her family
went on and you want to hearthe other side all the time, right,
I mean you want to hear well. No, there were some other
signs, but the whole family goesin on it with her and hires a

(37:58):
private detective. In some ways,it's probably more difficult to forgive than an
affair, because an affair could bea momentary lapse in judgment that you truly
learn from and never do again. This seems like she kind of lost her
mind for a while, so it'dbe hard to not think was she When
is this gonna happen again? Andshe blew his trust? Yeah? Because

(38:21):
they don't have kids right now?We don't know that, pretty, so
pretty think that too? Like isshe in? I mean, can she
get to a place where I wouldn'thave to worry about the children? She?
Did he give her another chance ornot? I mean? Is he
acting too quickly here? And hereally come out here? I'd like her
to get another chance, but itjust he Boy, should she be able

(38:45):
to move with him because he's alreadytaken this other job. I think he's
moved on. How he moved onmentally? Yeah? I think he has
too. It seems like this isa one sided thing here. I mean
she is more of the a holehere for for this, like she just
as he tells it. Maybe there'sa different side to it. Yeah,
I think she's more the AOL twolucas. She got a contrary opinion here.

(39:08):
No, I don't. When somebody'sthat crazy, you run as fast
as you came in the opposite direction. I mean, it's a spot any
of that. How do you nothow do you take I mean, how
do you can consider your friend morethan consider your your husband? Here?
Just the trust wasn't there from thestart. I guess we have to run

(39:30):
the throwdowns next on the Murph andAndy Show. It's time for throwdowns on
the show. All right, guys, let's throw it down. Morgan Andy
Show one O, six point three, k X and L. So this
was something I saw. Austin Riverssaid yesterday he thinks there are thirty NBA
players who can make an NFL roster, but not a single NFL player could

(39:51):
make it in the NBA. Doyou think there's a single NFL player who
could make an NBA roster? Andit so absolutely I don't know a who
off the top of my head, but but yeah, like the uh,
the level of tight end, cornerback, quarterbacks. Yeah, one of one
of those guys. If you talkabout just right now, go try out

(40:14):
or spent years trying to develop theskill right now, like without without like
a two or three year career, ramp up just right now, make it
right now? Could you go,Well, that's different. Probably not.
I mean, that's right now.I don't think there's anybody that could go
either direction. I don't think so. I mean, those are really really,

(40:40):
really hard jobs to get. Yeah, those guys do nothing, but
those jobs. I think the mostobvious thing is is an NBA forward becoming
like a tight end, you know, somebody with speed and hands and skill.
But but there are a bunch oflike guys who already are titet tight
ends playing that for a while.I mean of actually, yeah, I

(41:00):
absolutely, And it's it's it's funnybecause we can kind of remember almost on
one hand the athletes that that weredual sport athletes, and they're like some
of the most fascinating stories that weremember as sports fans. And I can't
even remember when every now and thenyou would have somebody do that at the
college level. Was that Stevie Johnsonthat did that? Up at the at

(41:24):
Iowa State. Yeah, sure,he was on those that great ustation team
and the underrated player then went andplayed on mccarney's team that went to went
to and won a bowl game.Yeah he was that was exceptional. I
don't think he was a starter, but he played all right. The age
old question do you get purple orgreen grapes? Green grapes? I don't

(41:45):
even know that that woman who gotswindled by the gypsy would buy purple grapes
over green grapes. We we gothrough a lot of grapes at our house.
Eddie is like a grape monster,he he He wants the green ones,
so he like them both. Reallylike some both the red ones too,
purple, red green. Yeah,we don't discriminate purple or red grape.

(42:07):
That that's called wine. Green greengrape. Sure will eat that all
kind of taste the same. Really, I think it plays tricks on my
mid The green ones are like they'rejust crisper, right, the better.
Yeah, they're good. Yeah, put them in the freezer. Yet a
little delicious treat. Yeah that's likedessert for you. I feel like,
yeah, it's just a head rushthrough your molars. I feel like a
grape challenge coming on. We'll getto trending island next
