Speaker 1 (00:00):
Now, tubbs, I know this is a big deal for
you when I cook on the weekends. Seasoning is important,
marinating is important. Rubs are important. Tells you like a
good rub?

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Right?

Speaker 1 (00:09):
What do you what do you use? What do you
use when you rub? At least got to turn this
microphone on? Yeah, you know, just be prepared. We could
come to it anytime. We're going to go to norco
here in just a second. Jessica mc ivor of Norcote
has been I'm dedicated to her kids and.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
Her home for a long time.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
And she realized, you know, the spices in the stores
aren't great, like the cooking spices and the stores aren't great.
So she came up with her own line of spices
called Lucky twenty two.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
Tubbs, what do you do?

Speaker 1 (00:39):
I just do salt pepper, But I do need a
good rub. Well, listen, she's got a couple of them here.
So she had tried a lot of natural seasonings. And
if you're in the kitchen a lot, you know that
when you find one that you love, it's great. But
if you can't find what you need, and it can
change the whole dish, right for sure. She thought a
lot of seasonings are just too strong, too salty, too overpowering,

(01:00):
and they are so she had this aha moment and
realized she could launch a business by sharing her grandfather's
special seasoning blends, like an organic spice company called Lucky
twenty two Spice Company. How the hustle, Jessica, our hometowns, good.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
Morning, good morning. How are you all doing?

Speaker 1 (01:22):
We are so good celebrating those aha moments, those entrepreneurial
local businesses here in southern California.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
So you're in Norco.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
And when you had this moment, did you think, Okay,
this is a great idea, but it's gonna be so
hard to launch.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
What was that like?

Speaker 2 (01:37):
It was very hard. But when I wanted to put
it together to share it with other people, I realized
that I had even more of a responsibility to source
the best tasting ingredients, the freshest ingredients, where were the
ingredients coming from? And then packaging them. It's something I

(02:00):
I definitely had a lot to learn about.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
It's true, I love seasoning, but I find that a
lot of the ones that I use are too salty
or too strong.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
They are when so when my dad finally passed down
my grandpa's recipe to me even I was like, Dad,
this is too salty. So I created Secret Blend, which
is my own. And I told my dad, I don't know, Dad,
if I want a bottle Grandpa's recipe. He said, well,
you can't do this if you don't bottle Grandpa's recipe,

(02:33):
because that's how it began. So I said, okay. Living
in Norco, which is Horsetown, USA, and having had horses,
I said, well, if I'm going to bottle Grandpa's, then
I'm naming it salt Lick because for me, it's.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
Too salty salty.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
So that's what became Salt Lick. And then my recipe
is Secret Blend. And then I created a spicy blend
which is called Hot Stuff.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
So the packaging is beautiful. It's all natural, organic ingredients,
locally sourced in these spice jars. I'm just looking at
these this. If people are listening now trying to find
something affordable as a great holiday gift, this is it.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
Like, this is so a.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
Great If you've got anybody, anybody got this in a
in a gift, in a package in a box in
the mail, would love it. It's they're beautiful looking and
it's good for you stuff. You can go to at
Lucky twenty two spice company on Instagram to see some
of these photos, but go ahead.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Yeah. So, my other big thing that I wanted to
do when packaging this was really be conscious of waste.
So I tell everybody it's packaged in Amberglass jars, which
is really good at keeping the seasonings fresh for longer.
And I tell everybody save your jars, or if you

(03:56):
have your own jars at home, you can order resal
pouches on my Way website and their package to order
incompostable bags. I love that.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
What about I'm just thinking about, you know, I have
a massive love affair with tin fish.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
I know. I was like, oh my gosh, Ryan needs
Lucky twenty two because in my house, my kids love
tun and crackers, and we will just like one of
them wants more salt, one of them wants to spies,
and one of them wants it just right, and they
we do. We just sprinkle our season on it.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
I could put this on my sardines, on my anchovies
things like that.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
Right. Oh yeah, it's good all by itself too.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
A friend of mine's having an anchovy party next week.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
That is what is that? Very dominic? Yeah, it's very
excited about it. We're dominic. Where has he been from?

Speaker 1 (04:52):
Staten Island? He lives here Anchovy party. I was like, bro,
can I get you know, not even if it's just me.
I don't even need a plus one for that?

Speaker 3 (04:59):
Is it by a leg? How does that work?

Speaker 2 (05:03):
No?

Speaker 1 (05:04):
That's the deal. He's got Anchoby's coming in. So he's like,
he's getting a bunch of people together.

Speaker 3 (05:09):

and she is our whole town hustler.
