Speaker 1 (00:00):
That's called Sunshine. It's LA's number one IT music station
one h two point seven. It's Kiss FM. I love
that song. Tiger Pop Smoke, Jenaico, Ryan Seacrest with you, Sissony, Tanya,
everybody all right. So here's the thing. If you look
at your gas bill, you're gonna send it to me

(00:22):
to have Kiss pay your bill because it's five six
seven times what it normally is. And so you try
and find out why. And here is what the gas
company blames the surgeon prices on quote volatile wholesale market.
A volatile wholesale market. I don't know what that mean.
It's like when I ask it around here, what's going
on with the Wi Fi? And they say a volatile carrier, Yeah,

(00:46):
a volatile car something with the coms volta service provider.
That times you've made up excuses before, like we've been
somewhere broadcasting something all the time, and I'll say, there's
the button. Does this button doesn't work? Why that's volatile panel?
Latil panel? You know I called earlier. I called you
said there's a supply chan is I called earlier for

(01:07):
a new panel? Still waiting on it? Bordered back ord
a bunch of bs. What is for him? I don't
know about the gas guy. I don't understand it. So
let me bring in. You may have seen Kelly Lang
on the news in Chinatown Hot Woo restaurant. They've got
this place Broadway in College Street in Chinatown, Hopwoo la
on Instagram. It's seafood restaurant in Chinatown known for their

(01:31):
Chinese turkeys and seafood. Anyway, I mean, I gotta get
it that in a second. But so Kelly you posted
on Instagram, come eat here because we got to pay
for our gas bill, right, Yes, definitely. So you've owned
and operated Hop Wou for over thirty years, and yes,

(01:51):
we'll tell me about your gas prices now. So usually
the bill is around five to six thousand a month,
but this time for January, it was over thirteen thousand.
I mean that is not in the budget when it
comes to operating costs. No, that's just unrealistic. So when

(02:14):
you and your I know your mom's been fundraising, when
you and the family get together to talk about the business,
how do you cover that cost? So the gas company
actually sent a notice saying that prices will increase, but
we didn't expect this much of an increase, but they
did contact us saying that they will help us with

(02:36):
the payments so we could pay it off within the
next few months. Oh like an increment or something. Yeah,
but people on top of our newcoming bill, right, yeah,
it's not going to pile up anyways. But you're also saying, hey,
please come eat with us, right yeah, let us just
cover our cost. So please come eat with us. Please

(02:58):
come to U. Try the seafood. Try yeah, the Chinese turkey.
So wait, it's a seafood restaurant, but you have a
signature turkey dish. Yes, So for Thanksgiving and Christmas, for
the holidays, we do the turkey meal. Yeah. Yeah, it's
usually I think seventy five dollars. You get a whole turkey,

(03:20):
garley fried rice. I've got bucket of gravy. But you
do that regularly now or just the holidays, just the holidays?
Got it? But that's what people were talking about on Instagram.
I mean, yeah, maybe for Lent you should put the
turkeys back on the menu. Yes, it's not a bad idea.
I don't know what the thinking is there, but why not.

(03:43):
So hop Woo Barbecue and Seafood in Chinatown just like
everybody's trying to cover the costs of those Southern California
gas What are some of your best dishes that people
order now, I would say our spicy salt chicken wings.
What's the sauce. Oh, there's no sauce. It's like fried chicken,
but with spicy salt. Salt, spicy salt. I have something

(04:09):
I can send you some. No, it's okay. I've got
Kelly on the one, Kelly Spicy, trying to help her out. Um, Kelly,
thank you for coming on. We'll get the word out.
Kelly Landing here Hop Woo Barbecue and Seafood Restaurant Broadway
in colleg Street in Chinatown. They got it more than
double the gas bill. I gotta cover it. So go
if you're in the area, go eat there. Help them out.
Family run business over thirty years. Thank you for coming on, Kelly.

(04:31):
Good luck, Yes, thank you? Okay, Bye? You're doing with
spicy salt over there your place. I put it on everything.
I put it on my salads, I put it in
my on my like anything everything eggs. The flavor I
love is buffalo sauce, like chicken wing, Buffalo sauce, Buffalo
sauce I could put on eggs, and Michael puts buffalo
sauce on every me too. Yeah, And I found I

(04:55):
was at the store getting my spices, and I found
they have a buffalo a spice powder. So you don't
need the sauce. You just like dash it into a
salad and it tastes like buffaloing. Oh, that's kind of cool.
I chopped my kale. Wait, I gotta get that for him.
Get some tusking kale. Chop it. Finally, olive oil, a
little lemon and the buffalo powder. It tastes like buffaloing.

(05:16):
It's fantastic and you're having kale. These are my secrets
coming in my book. Oh are we doing a cookbook? Author?
I like that, Come on the train and ride it.
I mean it's not really cookbook. Might just be food
experience books. I like that. Different pictures, no words, no,

(05:36):
no words writing. Oh like a coffee table book? No,
not really, No, I'm not gonna limit to coffee tables.
Why just tables with coffee on the go? Why go
big in the national, go global and brings people together universal.
I'm just trying to understand better. Well, but it's like
a teaser. You know, my potential publishers wouldn't want me

(05:59):
to let that. Yeah a that that's true. He's just
shopping around right now. Yeah, I'm just like, got some
meetings and do some book pitching. I mean, look, my
passion's food. I can work my olive oil into it. Um. Yeah.
End tables, card tables, all the tables, bedside tables, pool tables,
you name it. Listen. Sam's pool planes form in September.
