Speaker 2 (00:03):
Mario Lopez joining me right now on Zoom my old
friend Jalil White.

Speaker 1 (00:07):
What's going on?

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Man?

Speaker 3 (00:09):
What's going on? Mario?

Speaker 1 (00:10):
Always nice to see you, Julil. We were just talking
about can we.

Speaker 3 (00:15):
Just clarify how long have we known each other?

Speaker 1 (00:17):
Well, since the nineties for sure.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
I don't know what year in the nineties, but definitely
so a few decades now, in a few decades now,
so you know, I.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
Mean, it's been it definitely had. I remember seeing you
most at the Hollywood Christmas.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Bread Really that's funny.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Hollywood, the Hollywood Christmas Parade.

Speaker 4 (00:36):
When that was a thing, it was like I look
forward to seeing you every year there. And then another
time you helped me secure my prom date at the
at the NBA All Star Game in Minnesota.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
Wait, how did I help? That? Was I with the
assists right now, Talbot?

Speaker 2 (00:54):
Wait, I got to hear by way, So I was
like Magic Johnson with the assists right there.

Speaker 4 (00:58):
Talk about so So I have the funniest prom date
story ever. My mom wanted me to go to prom
and I wasn't dating anybody else, too busy on the show,
and I was kind of a geek off.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
The off screen anyway too.

Speaker 4 (01:11):
And so she was like, you're going to Problem. I
was like nah, and she was like, oh, I'm getting
my picture.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
You're going to prom.

Speaker 4 (01:16):
And she was like, who would you like to go
to Problem with? If you could go with anybody? So
I just said some crazy stuff. I said, yeah, you know,
it was this beautiful black girl I saw out the
NBA All Star Game in Utah last year. If you
ever found her, I'd go with her. I'm just talking wild.
I went on to jay Lenna and Jay Leno started
questioning me about my prom and he said, I heard

(01:36):
there was a girl in Utah that you met though
that if you ever found her, that you would go
to the prom.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
And I'm like, what are you talking about yet?

Speaker 4 (01:43):
And he pulls out an NBA archived photo of the girl.
My mom called the NBA and found her in the
archives in photos that she had taken day.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
Yes.

Speaker 4 (01:55):
Yes, So they arranged for me to meet her in
Minunese at the Minnesota All Star Games that you know,
I used to play video games and stuff in the
hospitality room and I were there and you and I
were going added NBA jams and she walked in and
it was the first time I'd ever seen her in person,
and she was studying.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
I'm eighteen years old.

Speaker 4 (02:16):
She's the prettiest girl I've ever you know, talked to,
and I could tell like she was she was interested
in meeting me.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
Really, we were the only three people lady.

Speaker 4 (02:26):
Night playing les NBA jams and she was waiting for
me at the table. But I was really focused on
trying to kick your ass in NBA Jams.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
And you looked at me and you were like, dude,
is she waiting for you?

Speaker 4 (02:38):
And I'm like, yeah, you know, they wanted to introduce
He was like, get off the game, right. I love
that story, right, Like, I'm done playing with you.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
You're playing yourself right, So not like this, huh huh.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
That's great man, Oh that's great. Love that story. I'm
gonna have to read that book right now.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
Speaking of basketball, I just want everybody know I remember
you had mad skills on the basketball court. Brother.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
I don't know if you still keep it up, but
I remember you could really play. I was like, dang,
he could play.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
You know what.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
I'll always be able to shoot, but I'm not out
here trying to challenge these these youngsters these days filming everything,
and I can't even tell what's to travel these days.

Speaker 3 (03:22):
Right, you get three steps? If you get four steps, now,
I don't know what you get.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
You in the NBA, you get like four or five
at least.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
So the story you told me, that's a great one,
and that's stuff like that's what we'll read about in
the memoir Growing Up Erkele.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
Correct, Yes, yes, I do the audio version. So for
all of you people who don't read, don't even worry
about it. Throw't me owning your car read it to you.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
Wow, you know, speaking of growing up Urkele, I read
that you wouldn't do a family matter's reboot if if
it was presented.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
Did I understand that correctly?

Speaker 2 (03:55):
No.

Speaker 3 (03:55):
I was never really offered one dog. You know, these
reboots are kind of low hanging fruit.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
Sometimes they don't necessarily they're not packaged with all the
good things that people would want to see long term
beyond just you know, car wreck entertainment.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
Let's just see what they look like doing it for.

Speaker 4 (04:10):
One or two episodes. So I've never been officially offered
a reboot. I talk about it in the book. When
I think people would like to see, and that's what
it's always been about for me, Mario, Like I care
about the audience experience. You know, I've people have been
recognized my face, my entire life. Man, I'm turning turning
forty eight tomorrow, two days.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
Good for you, Good for you.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
You know, I'm kind of over the fame thing.

Speaker 4 (04:34):
But the one thing I will never ever ever be
over is when an audience responds to something that we've
done at a high level and they want more of it.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
They genuinely think it's dope what we've done. And that's
what I sign up to do tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
Absolutely wise.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
I know you did an animated Ercle Christmas movie last year,
Le Sana.

Speaker 3 (04:54):
You didn't like that.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
Fair enough, Cole? Right there, Cole put some coal right there.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
But I do want to talk about You're also in
the new Disney Plus series Star Wars Skeleton Crew this December.
You're playing gun or my Boys. Big Star Wars fans.
What's the premise of this one?

Speaker 4 (05:13):
I'm excited, man, I'm you know, they kind of got
me on hand golden handcuffs over there. All I can
say is that I really think that it's going to
help restore a lot of the childlike magic that's associated
with the Star Wars universe, and it's not for children.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
So that's the best part.

Speaker 4 (05:31):
You know, you've got young people that are at the
center of the story, but it's not for children.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
Yeah, this is one of the.

Speaker 4 (05:36):
Biggest budget projects I've ever been on. The John Watson,
the two Chris's that are our executive producers, just did
a masterful job with this one. And I just think
even with your son, Man, you're gonna enjoy watching this
bad boy around the holidays together.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
Peak on honest, I love it.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
We watch all of them from Mandaloria and obi.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
Wan if you like Mandalorian and all though, you like that.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
They do such a great job. Congrats on that.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
And also on the game show man, because I follow you,
I see you right there hosting flip side over on GSN.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
How's how's the game work?

Speaker 3 (06:07):
Flip Side's great, man, It's such an easy game show.

Speaker 4 (06:10):
At the end of the day, you can't have people
did thinking outside the box too much. It's uh, we
asked one question on one group of people, and then
we asked the flip side of that same question to
the opposite group of people.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
So we'll ask you know, we'll.

Speaker 4 (06:22):
Ask flight attendants a question about passengers, and then we'll
ask passengers a.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
Question about flight attendants.

Speaker 4 (06:28):
You know, like what's the most annoying thing that a
flight attendant can do while you're sleeping?

Speaker 3 (06:32):
Bump you with their car? You know.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
We wake you up and ask you if you want
something to eat while you're sleeping.

Speaker 4 (06:39):
Exactly, and you have to pick the top response that
you think the nation uh picked in a pole. After that,
the second round is just this or that.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
You are you? Are you chick fil a? Are you
raising knes?

Speaker 4 (06:51):
And you like you like to toilet paper under and
over and and that's a speed rap uh.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
That was my favorite round because.

Speaker 4 (06:57):
You can be really losing at the game and but
in this round you can come all the way back.
And in the last round, the bonus round, we asked
one question with ten possible answers.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
You've got to guess the top five answers, and if
you do, we give you ten thousand dollars.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
That's great gig, fun man, great gig. Good for you, brother. Congrats.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
I'm always I'm always happy to see friends, especially former
child actors do well.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
Right there. Thank you.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
Most importantly, I'm feeling really good about our Chargers.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
Man, let's go bias.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
Or what I'm feeling if we if we wrap it up, ball,
I'm telling you I'm feeling really good.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
You're feeling good or might just bias?

Speaker 3 (07:37):
Listen. I was so excited when we got Jim Harbaugh
as a coach.

Speaker 4 (07:42):
Man, right, that guy is just such a unique energy
and a football savant. I think the thing that I'm
most excited about for us is now in the second half,
no matter what has happened, I know we have a chance.
I know in this chess match between two football geniuses
on the opposite side of a field, we have a

(08:03):
chess master too.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
Let's go said, bolt up, bolt up? Well, listen.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
Want y'all to be sure to pick up Jalil's new book,
Growing Up Ercle, which is out now. Make a nice
stocking stuffer for you, Jalil, Thanks for checking in.

Speaker 4 (08:18):
Brother.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
Hope to see as sooner person.

Speaker 3 (08:19):
Come on, say last man, I'm always here for.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
You, right on, buddy, Hey, take care man, I have
