Speaker 1 (00:00):
Real Fun with Mario Lopez Tebriel. Mario Lopez is joining
me right now on Zoom. One of the stars of
Cobra Kai, actor Martin Cove.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
How you been, Martin.

Speaker 3 (00:10):
I'm good. I'm good, really good.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Very nice to see you.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
I just was telling the off air my eleven year
old son has binged all seasons of Cobra Kai. He's
now rewatching them. He is such a huge fan. He's
obviously got good taste. And Part two of the sixth
and final season of Cobra Kai is airing now on Netflix.
What is the legendary John Crease up to in the

(00:34):
final season?

Speaker 3 (00:36):
Well, in the final season, I mean there's so many surprises.

Speaker 4 (00:40):
You know.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
We shot fifteen shows.

Speaker 4 (00:42):
We aired the first five and then the second five
and then the last five. Heirs in February and has
so many surprises. I don't want to spoil for anybody,
but those who need to get their come up and
get them. Oh, those who need generosity get it, those

(01:03):
who need love get it.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
So it's really.

Speaker 4 (01:07):
Well written, and it's a lot of resolutions and a
lot of surprises, and I think.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Everybody will really enjoy it, you know. So we'll go
out with a big bang, nice.

Speaker 4 (01:18):
Well, we would never cancel. It's just that this is
what the writers wanted.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
We want six seasons nice.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
Everybody to be wrapped up. And it was a good choice.
I like that.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
We'll see redemption for most of these characters right there.
And it's got to be pretty pretty awesome because it's
special to say goodbye to a character that you've been
involved with for forty years now.

Speaker 4 (01:40):
Yeah, you know, this character has had his trials and
tribulations on my personal life, you know. I mean, you
don't go through a relationship break up twelve times in
six years.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
Without blaming John Creese, you know. So, you know, it
was quite interesting and and I really, uh.

Speaker 4 (02:03):
I really enjoy the character because now the character has vulnerability.
Now he has an arc, you know, now he has
you know, they're writing emotions for him that he didn't
have in the movies.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
And I wanted that. I signed on for that. I
didn't sign on to go be the tough guy, you know.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:23):
I told him this is what I wanted, and I said,
I'll come and play, and you got to write in vulnerability.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
You got to write me on predictability, you.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
Know, And they did, and so you know, in these
flashbacks and all that it was, and having my son
on the show in the first flashback was great.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
I remember that. It was very cool.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
Yeah, it was very cool. It's all in the writing,
you know.

Speaker 4 (02:47):
I just I worked yesterday on a movie called Dink
the Dink and you.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
Know about pickle Ball, right, and you know Ben ben.

Speaker 4 (02:58):
Stiller and Mary Steine and Ed Harris and you know,
really some good people.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
Yeah, we had a good time. And you know, I
play Mary stein Bergen's ex husband and it was just great.

Speaker 4 (03:13):
We shot in this cowboy palace out in Chatsworth yesterday
and it was just such a professional you know. Josh
Greenbaum is directing, and he's so so good. Endless takes, Endless.
You cry, you don't get enough of television. Well we
got endless takes in this one. And it's funny. It's
very funny, and I don't get a chance to do comedy.

(03:35):
And you know, I loved it. I just loved, you know,
the likeness and the charm of it all. It's what
I really like to do, you know.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
I love that.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
And I remember having a conversation with you and you
were saying that you would.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
Hope to make a Western film soon, right, you still
want to play a cowboy?

Speaker 3 (03:54):
Yeah, you know. I've been playing cowboys since I was
since I was old. My mother used to.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
Tell me the story that I watch TV when I
was like seven or eight. Those horse operas were pretty
much one horse was galloping after another and that's.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
What was going on the screen. And she used she
used to tell me that I used to.

Speaker 4 (04:11):
Go around the back of the TV to see what
happened to the horse.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Happens on the right side of the frame, you know, yes,
you know. But the bottom line is.

Speaker 4 (04:21):
We're in development on a with my friend Jeff Frost
and people who created Mudbound.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
And Peanut Butter Falcon.

Speaker 4 (04:30):
We're doing a story about a old gunfighter who bonds
with a twelve year old kid because I really feel
that kids nowadays don't have any heroes.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
I just think they need heroes. We knew and I
were watching TV back.

Speaker 4 (04:45):
In the sixties there were thirty five westerns on Primetime.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
I love westerns too. I'm a huge Western fan.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
You know, and now kids don't have that. They don't
have Eastwood, they don't have John Wayne.

Speaker 4 (04:58):
So I want kids to have heroes and these this
story is about a Marl fiber which is exchanged between
the twelve year old and an old gunfighter killer monster,
and I play him, and I think, you know, kids
will I think kids will will gravitate to the twelve
year old as adults will gravitate to my character who's

(05:22):
learning how to be a human being.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
You know that's awesome. Well, good luck with that project.

Speaker 1 (05:26):
And meanwhile, we're gonna be sure to catch Martin Cove
as a wrap up Cobra Kai on Netflix.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
Which is of course streaming now. Mart thank you so
much for checking in, my friend.

Speaker 3 (05:36):
So always good to hang with you, man, even at
the airport.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
That's right, right at the at the airport.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
Now, before I let you go, your mind saying a
little message to my son Dominic.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
Wait, we can't record it here right straight?

Speaker 3 (05:46):
Sure?

Speaker 1 (05:46):
Oh okay, so he can record it for it. Okay, great?
Can you just say, Dominic, this is this is this
is some John.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
Okay, great, go ahead, I'll do.

Speaker 4 (05:56):
It all right, Dominic, this is Martin Cole of akh
John cries, and I want to let you know that
you gotta take care of your dad because he's really
a good soul. But the most important thing to remember
is in your Cobra kai. You understand the concept that
mercy is for the week. Here and on the streets,
somebody confronts you.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
They are the enemy and the enemy deserves no mercy.

Speaker 4 (06:19):
So remember you are the way of the Fist and
you take care of dad.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
That's awesome. That's the best message ever. Oh man, that
is great. I'm gonna have to post that.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
That is great.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
Thank you so much. I appreciate you.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
Right, take care of yourself.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
Okay, you too, look forward to seeing you soon. Well, okay,
bye
