This Bingie beef Jerkey podcast of theLeach Report is also presented by Boons Butcher
Shop, one hundred old Bloomfield Pikein Barnestown, fresh meat cut on location
daily and they're family owned and operated, have been since nineteen forty six.
Good day, everybody, Welcome intothe Leads Report, presented by Bobcat Enterprises
on this rainy Friday, sports packedweekend and we're gonna touch on a variety

(00:28):
of subjects today. We'll lead offwith Little UK Baseball Darren Hendrick Oscar Combs
will join us. Oscar founder theCat's Pause, recently elected to the Kentucky
Sports Hall of Fame, and we'lltalk with Oscar about that honor and his
career and current UK sports, etc. We'll finish up with Dick Girardi,

(00:48):
longtime turf rider, as we previewpreaking this weekend up in Baltimore. But
we will lead off with the WildcatNews of the Day service of Concident,
and it's really not so much wildcatnews, but you have to start with
the biggest news and sports story ofthe day, and it's out of the
golf World happening at Valhalla at thePGA Championship in Louisville. Here's the timeline.

(01:12):
I'll just give you the facts onall of this because it's a story
that is probably changing by the menat five am, around five am and
killed by a shuttle bus shuttling apparentlyfans to the tournament. Obviously a tremendous

(01:33):
tragedy. So stop there, justthat that's a news story with a very
sad ending. Now because of thattragic event, massive delay of traffic along
Shelbyville Road there in Louisville, whereValhalla is located, that prompted a delay

(01:56):
in the start of the second roundof the PGA Championship. Separate story,
Scottie Scheffer, the world's number oneran golfer, is driving to the course.
I don't know if he knew atthat point yet that the round had
been delayed. Anyway, he allegedlydrove past a police officer telling him was
entering the course. Scheffler was reportedlypulled from his car, handcuffed and arrested.

(02:20):
Reports now say he has been released. And that's none of the list
of facts. But I'm not evensure what the right way to what the
word to use. And you don'twant to be flippant in any way because
their life this morning in that trafficaccident around five am. So just suffice

(02:45):
to say it's in the world ofsports, the biggest story of the day,
Nashley, in the world maybe atthe moment. Now closer to home.
Kentucky beat van By last night tento five in the opener of a
three game set at Kentucky will helpdetermine the SEC Baseball Championship in Kentucky recorded

(03:07):
at a record twenty first SEC win. Ryan Walshman had three hits, including
a three run homer, So nowtwo games left to play. Tennessee won
last night. Tennessee beat Vanderbilt, and I didn't check on the Arkansas score
for Arkansas and Mississippi State. Tennesseeand Arkansas beginning the weekend trailing by one

(03:30):
game. So if Kentucky wins atleast two and they won one now they
can do no worse than tie forthe SEC championship for a second time.
Arkansas lost last night one thing ineleven innings to Texas A and M,
so they lost Tennessee one. SoTennessee is one game behind Kentucky. Arkansas's
two back. If Vanderbilt it winsthe outright SEC championship. So ten to

(03:55):
five Game two set for six thirtytonight. Darren Headrick will join us here
shortly. We'll see if there's anythought that that time might change or what
would happen if it got rained out. So we'll talk to Darren here in
just a bit about all of that. But great start to the series last
night for Kentucky getting to win tento five. That's eliminated for the NCAA

(04:18):
tournament yesterday for zip by TCU outin Stillwater, Oklahoma where the women's softball
team will play Michigan today. Ithink that's on ESPN two around three.
Eastern Kentucky men's basketball Ansley Almanor fromFairley Dickinson has committed to Kentucky after coming
in on a visit. He tellsZag's blog, it's a dream come true.

(04:42):
Sitiauta Kentucky in his bedroom growing upsixteen point per game average, shot
forty three percent from the field lastseason, thirty nine percent on threes while
attempting an average of seven per game. Eighty percent free throw shooter. So
a six to seven guy that canstretch the floor as a four man big

(05:02):
addition to the roster for coach MarkPope, who has really done a nice
job of together literally from scratch. So links to the stories that we talk
about, you can find those onthe bud Light Leach Report page at Tom
Leitchky dot com. Opening segment presentedby Giuseppes of Lexington. They have expanded
their bar area there at Giuseppes andit's because it's so popular Dave Hall's live

(05:27):

seating in that particular. So ifthat's how you'd like to have your Giuseppes

Just Bobcat Enterprises. Google them, find the one it's closest to you.
When you need forklifts, excavators,et cetera, or maybe a new zero
turn more for your lawn at home. Bobcat Enterprises. I'll take great care
of you. Always have been knownfor fantastic service after the sale too,

(06:14):
and then as start was the casewhen they started, still is today,
Oscar coms, We're gonna change upthe batting order here. We're striking out
on Dearreon Heeddrick at the moment,so we'll reconnect with him and move Oscar
Combs up in the batting order.Oscar First, let me just formally here
on the air. I told youthrough social media and privately, but congratulations

(06:38):
of going into the Kentucky Kentucky SportsHall of Fame. I can't think of
anybody more deserving and wonderful honor foryou. Well, thank you, Tom.
I'm sort of spaceness have been sinceit was announced. I was very
surprised, but I'm very humble byit. Let's start with a little baseball,
since Kentucky got its record twenty firstwin last night. And you know

(07:02):
you've started the Cats Paws in theseventies and mid seventies and primarily covering you
know, men's basketball and football, but other sports as well, and you
know that, you know, KeithMadison did an amazing job with the very
limited resources with the Kentucky baseball program. Keith was it helps out daring a

(07:23):
lot on the radio broadcasts on homegames now and it's great to see him
enjoying this because he kind of builtthe foundation that Nick Minzion has taken and
run with. Yes he did,and the United that's a great story there
on him coming here taking the joband it was considered not a full time

(07:43):
job. When he staying here underCliff Hagen, he makes him something like
eight thousand dollars a year and nobenefits. And baseball and the SEC,
particularly in the northern part, andI mean it was just a step ahead
of interview. Ah see him dida great job. And when the TV
money started rolling in for football andbasketball, a little more of that started

(08:07):
grabbling down to baseball and now alot of the form of baseball, which
is good for baseball. And Nickben Jeones done a fantastic job in these
last couple of seasons, and it'sgreat to see how the fans have engaged
with it. Great they had aboutforty five hundred last night. They've had
record crowds earlier this season and theC Series and probably will for regionals as

(08:31):
well, and it's great to seehow much excitement there is among the fans
for baseball. It's that hurts Kentucky. It's hard for Kentucky get Home Crowns
out until you get at least inearly April because of the weather situation.
And if they had a little betterweather, they could get fans out in
February and March and built toward it. So right now, to get good

(08:56):
crowds, you've got to be veryvery good, and they are very very
good. Yeah, and they're gettingvery very good craft. So they got
Vandy two Moore up the SEC championshipthis weekend, be the number one seed
for the SEC tournament next week, and in south of Birmingham, the shift

(09:16):
gears to Kentucky basketball. Go ahead, Oscar oh, I was just going
to say that, you know, next week with the SEC baseball, Kentucky
can win either today or tomorrow.I think they're a lot for a top
three. It's not even the overalltop. If they win both, it's
a given regardless of what they donext week. Let's talk a little bit
about men's basketball and uh and we'llget to the women's program too. But

(09:41):
Mark Pope taking over with Kentucky basketball. You were covering him as a player
here at Kentucky, and we've talkedalready about just the you know, the
significance of him coming. He certainlyseems to be hitting all the right notes,
doesn't he. Well you you wouldn'tknow from the notes he's inning that

(10:03):
he's been living in the last fifteenor twenty years a couple of thousand miles
west here, because everything he saidis like he's been here the whole time.
And I love the fact that, you know, he's acting a little
bit more like he's twenty years oldthan years old, which fans are reacting
to that. They like the wayhe's on the social media. And unfortunately,

(10:26):
at the end of the day,we both know it comes from the
wins and losses, hoping this teamcan be competitive enough to maybe win,
you know, eighteen or twenty gamesand maybe get a couple of games at
the NC Double. If that happens, I think things are going to be
time he is. It's amazing that, you know, from what the first
tele was to what it's been reallyjust growing every day since then. He

(10:52):
has really made a connection with theBBA, with the BBN. Yes,
yes he has. And you knowthe early action, well, you know,
Calliprarie had that same early reaction amongsome people. But the thing is,
I think actually people slept on iteight hours. All that I remember
on a Friday evening as the wordwas leasing out, But then by Saturday

(11:16):
morning they were all alive. Andit's still amazing me. Tom, the
crowd you had down there on Sundayaction. I kind of thought it'd be
you know, maybe three or fourthousand, since it was a nice Sunday
actionnoon. I would have lost everythingI ever owned if I were betting on
ten thousand men there and you gottwenty. It was amazing. It's gonna

(11:37):
be one of the memorable moments inKentucky basketball history and has obviously nothing to
do with the game. Talking withOscar Combs about his election to Kentucky Sports
Hall of Fame, the founder publisherthe Cats pause, joining us here in
the Club Blue nil Hotline. We'llget to a break, We'll come right
back more with Oscar just a moment. It is the Leach Report Radio and

(12:00):
work from the Clark's Pumping Shop studioand refuel at Clark's forty four past the
top of the hour. Oscar Combsjoining us, and they're going to be
enshrined to the Kentucky Sports Hall ofFame come September. Founder of the Cats
Pause back in the mid seventies andOscar when you started the Cat's Pause,

(12:20):
if memory serves, you covered theCats up in the NIT in New York.
They were up there for about aweek in seventy six winning the n
I T and that response, orI guess the number of Pew fans you
saw there, et cetera, iswhat led you to start the Cat's Pause?
Is that correct? You're correct thatthere. Jenten every thanks. The

(12:46):
alumni group went up on a charterand they were coming back early, and
they didn't have a lot of faithin Joe Howe. So they said they
were going to stay through a Saturday, which when I met two games and
coming back on the sun. Andthe second game they were spoke to play
Louisville, but Loeisville got up satin the first round. The Kentucky won,

(13:07):
and that Don and I decided tostay in New York. That was
their first trip there till the veryend. And so the very next game
we met three gentlemen that had beensitting where we didn't meet him. We'd
already met him in the previous game. We thought they were with a group,
but they weren't. And we gottalking to them and you know,
they were three businessmen from the EastCoach and I thought, you know,

(13:31):
they had relatives to Kentucky, sheefardennto Kentucky. It didn't know anybody in
Kentucky. But they listened to allthe Kentucky games on WHS And I thought,
wow, you know, you gotfour three people you actually run into
them like that. There may bea market outside of Kentucky for a publication
covering this UK. And now youknow, through like an Internet, you

(13:56):
can give game game last night,a basketball or football game, et cetera.
It you have people all over theworld that are listening in. And
you know, with the Internet,we kind of, you know, certainly
know how widespread the Big Blue Nationreally is. So you certainly tapped into
something there in the in seventy six, well, I was fortunately I came

(14:18):
up. I came in at thattime, this time right now, because
that was about the only way PatI now had a background in weekly publishing.
I probably wouldn't have made it then, but I knew what it took
to break even financially from just havinganother weekly that turned me through it.
And you know the early two orthree years, it was to Slaton early

(14:41):
on, but I was sort ofa grinder, so to speak, and
I didn't want to be proven wrong. So it went from there. But
at the heights of everything, wehad subscribed eight twenty three foreign countries.
Wow. Since I sold out thelandmark, Darryl Burge done a terrific job
and he pretty much took over foryears. I drive last and they still
do a fantastic job. And ofcourse their their big Bill weather is is

(15:05):
their annual yearbook with Oscar Combs ofthe club Blue Nil Hotline. Back to
the change in UK Pop's arrival KennyBrooks with women's basketball has put a lot
of uh, you know, excitement, a shot of adrenaline into that sport,
coinciding with an explosion of interest inthe women's game. So, uh,

(15:28):
women's basketball has a chance to makea significant step up, right,
I would think so because Skinny's arrivaland the way that he's caught fire with
everyone. I'm sure there's a lotof women's program certain things. Uh,
oh, we got another program todeal with. I think it's gonna be
very very highly successful. Uh,probably the most pastful of all timing contect.

(15:54):
Yeah. I've said before that Iwas in school in the eighties when
they had val still in that groupand they were really good at that time,
and it was great uh basketball, and uh, you know they got
I expect with the new coliseum they'regoing to see a real growth in their
attendance too. Yeah. I'm surethat the new coliseum will play a huge

(16:15):
role in getting Tenny to come hereand take that job, because now you've
got something and I mean, youknow, this is the eight thousand or
so steet, but it's state ofthe art and I just can't stay him
doing anything but stay left. Oscarappreciate the time, and again, just

(16:37):
tremendous congratulations from uh everybody in theBBN, your media friends, et cetera.
On a wonderful and well deserved honor. Thank you, Thank you.

Official partner of your University of Kentucky. Joining us now is Darren Headrick
UK Radio Network on the call lastnight for Kentucky's ten to five win over

(17:47):
Vanderbilt. Before we get to Darren, let me quickly give you an update
from the PGA Championship. Our friendMichael Eaves on with us earlier this week
from ESPN. Play in Round twois set to begin actually right now Eastern
time. All Round two starting timesdelayed an hour in twenty minutes. Scottie
Scheffler's scheduled tea times a little afterten. Reportedly he has been released,

(18:11):
so we assume he's going to makethat. So we'll keep you updated on
quite a newsy day to start thisFriday and second day of the PGA Championship
here in Kentucky. All right,Darren joins us now Grace last night,
Darren, very first pitch of thegame, Vanderbilt's lead off batter hits the
very first pitch out of the ballpark. But Kentucky regroup pretty quickly. Yeah,

(18:36):
they did, Tom. That's theamazing thing that I've watched about.
It's the amazing thing about this teamthat I've watched all year. It's just
their ability to rebound, their resilience, and you're right, Vanderbilt hit him
in the mouth on the first pitchof the game and didn't seem phased by
it. Trey Booser just retires theside effortlessly, won two three, and
then Kentucky in the bottom of thefirst sends nine batters to the plate,

(18:59):
They score three runs and never lookedback. It was a great win at
home and just this team showing whatthey've done all year, and that's the
ability to bounce back and answer withsome big innings. I was talking with
Tony and Ealy from UK Sports Information. He said He's just amazed at how
frequently the team has been able tocome back in games as season. We

(19:21):
saw down in Florida last weekend withthe two extra inning wins there in Gainesville.
How did that quality kind of comeabout for this group? You know,
that's a great question, and Ithink it just goes back to something
that coach Menziona Spring and that's theircompetitive desire. And they came back from

(19:45):
early in the season against Murray State, they were down six to nothing,
came back and won that game tento six. They were down for to
Georgia, came back and won thatgame. And I think the biggest one
was against Auburn. They were downseven to nothing on a and came back
and won thirteen to eight. Andever since then, this team has just
had the and that you know,no matter how many runs they go down,

(20:08):
they're going to come back and winthe game. And when you've got
that kind of confidence and that kindof a mindset, it does wonders.
And so we just see this teamtime and again get up off the mat
and put their opponent's shoulders to themat. Scheduled first pitch at six thirty
tonight. Obviously, whether it's anissue that is in play here. What

(20:30):
anything about any change or how mightthe weather affect this. I think coach
Benzione might have mentioned it last night. With the forecast looking the way it
does, I wouldn't anticipate the gamebeing moved up earlier from that six thirty
start tonight, But then once weget close to first pitch, we just
kind of see what mother Nature's givingus. But I would expect us to

(20:51):
be close to an on time start. At this point. We're operating like
it'll be a six to thirty firstpin. The rain showers move out tom
you know, it's an artificial surface, so if there's no lightning and light
rain, you can still try togo. But hopefully that weather system will
move out long enough for us toget the game in tonight at six thirty.
That'll be six thirty Eastern on theUK Radio Network with Darren and joined

(21:14):
by coach Keith Madison on these homegames. He's a great addition to your
broadcast. I love having coach Madisonsit in It's with me for some games
this spring. He brings, obviouslysuch a wealth and knowledge and a love
and passion for the program. That'sunmatched, and he and I just we
have too much fun doing these gamestogether. Really. Yeah, it's a

(21:37):
great list of good stories, andyou know, baseball affords the broadcasters the
chance to tell some of those,So enjoy listening to you guys. Two
more games here and then the greatthing is there'll be more postseason baseball coming
back to Kentucky Proud Park. Butnext week it'll be the SEC Tournament.
If Kentucky obviously wins tonight in thegame they play get to play and win,

(22:03):
they clinch at least a share andthen could have the the the only
other SEC title they won they sharedif memory serves, so they have a
chance to win their first chapship.Yeah, that's right. The magic number
is one. If Kentucky wins tonightand Tennessee loses the South Carolina, then
the Wildcats claim the outright title forthe first time in school history. But
you know, they win tonight andthey lock up at least a share,

(22:26):
so it's going to be Last nightwas a historic win for Kentucky. Hoping
for another one tonight and look forwardto having the fans out to cheer them
on to see if they can getthis baby throw its best pitcher in the
opener last night by the numbers.Bryce Cunningham has been their best arm this
year, but the lefty they're throwingtonight as a quality starter. It should

(22:48):
be a fun matchup between him andDominic Nyman for the Wildcats tonight Kentucky.
You know, ideally, you ifyou can get the title, then you
want to try to set your successheading into the postseason. And Kentucky would
potentially be the number one seed atthe SEC Tournament. How would they go

(23:11):
about kind of playing it with pitchersas in particular heading into now these most
important games. Yeah, I thinkthat's the greatest question of all and every
team goes through it because of thesecniqueness of these two weeks. You play
Thursday through Sunday, and then youturn around and if you're the five through
twelve seeds, you're playing Tuesday nextweek in a single elimination game. Kentucky

(23:37):
fortunately will have the extra day witha bye and they're automatically into the double
elimination. So I'll be interested tosee if they do start Trey Pooser next
Wednesday on short rest week, orif they try to piece this together with
maybe some of the guys that we'veseen on the midweeks, maybe use a
bullpen game. So, yeah, the SEC tournament creates some intro scenarios because

(24:02):
you've got some teams going into thatdesperate for wins, or you know,
a team like Kentucky that's thinking, hey, if we've won the SEC regular
season, might not put the championshipstogether with the tournament title? Yeah,
that would that would be tremendous. And then getting to host and as a
regional four team regional, which Kentuckydid last season. And then at this

(24:22):
point, should they advance there ifthey've got to be a lock for one
of the top eight seeds and thepotential to host a super regional, right,
yeah, I would think so,Tom, you know, with an
RPI number two and being either onesec depending on how these next two days
shake out. You know, mostprojections at Kentucky being b number one overall

(24:44):
seed in the tournament. So atthis point, barring just something incredibly off
target, I would assume Kentucky wouldbe not only hosting a regional, but
as a national seed if they canget there, hosting a super regional for
the first time, and man, what an atmosphere that could be. What
I want to try and make itto the College World Series in Omaha for

(25:04):
the first time ever. Yeah,Kentucky gets Smith back at shortstop from an
injury last night, and then theyalso had a young man that came in
and got the last out in thelast game of the Florida series the last
weekend, who I think is comingback from an injury as well. Is
that somebody that can give him aboost in the bullpen? Oh, there's
no question about it. Talking aboutBen Cleever Dald, Tennessee. He's going

(25:29):
to be a great left handed pitcherfor this staff over the next couple of
years. Tremendous upside. His fastballruns in on right handed hitters very well,
as we saw against Florida. Yeah, Cleaver's just an outstanding town.
He has been battling some injuries thisspring, but it looks like he's back
and healthy. And like you said, it was great to see Grant Smith.
Didn't look like he leaving effects fromthat foot injury. So hopefully he

(25:53):
stays well enough to stay on thefield because Kentucky's just a different team with
him at shortstop, and so,yeah, it was great to see Grant
back out there last night. Alot of good things coming together for Kentucky
baseball right now. Darren, goodluck on getting to call in SEC Championship
here tonight or tomorrow. Thank youvery much, Tom Always a pleasure to

(26:15):
hop on. Darren, Hedrick,Key and coach Patison will be on the
call on the UK Radio network startingwith pregame at six point fifteen Eastern tonight
from Kentucky Proud Park. He joinsus on the Club Blue Nil hotline.
We'll update from Michael Eves feed onx at, Michael Eves on X or

(26:36):
Twitter from ESPN. Michael reporting fromthis is according to Wave News Channel,
they reached out to the Louisville MetroPolice for information about Scotti Scheffler. Michael's
report is that, courtesy of WAVE, is that Scheffler was booked on charges
of second degree assault of a policeofficer, third degree criminal mischief, reckless

(26:59):
drive, having disregarding traffic signals froman officer directing traffic. I'm just reading
directly from Michael's post here as itrelates to the assault. Peter Burns of
ESPN was entering the course after Scheffler'sincident. Another officer was told the Burns
and others in that vehicle that someonequote tried to run over one of our

(27:19):
cops, second degree salt as aClass C fellony in Kentucky. All of
that courtesy of Michael Eves coming outof the PGA Championship at Valhalla around two
underway, and it would be astory that will be talking about for the
rest of the day and beyond.I would imagine a quarter before the top

(27:41):
of the out, we'll take aquick break, come back and talk about
the pregnance with Dick Girardi. It'sthe lead Report, presented by Bob Cat
Enterprises. It's the lead report andcoming up next to the Club Blue Nil
hotline is Dick Girardi, longtime turfwrider from Philadelphia, comes to his courtesy

(28:02):
of bed online Dot AG. We'reto talk about the Preakness in Baltimore tomorrow,
which we'll get to in a moment. But taking your many years as
a newspaperman, guessing you covered somemajor championships in golf, right I have.
I was at the US Open atMarion. I want to say twenty

(28:22):
thirteen times that summary, Yeah,I think, yeah, I remember coming
starting it right after the Belmont Stakesthat year in marrying golf course is right
not far from Villanova at the suburb, well the western suburbs of Philadelphia.
What I have covered, imagine ifyou were covering this story today out of
Valhalla, second day of the PGA. Latest update is that Scottie Scheffler's from

(28:45):
ESPN, is on his way tothe golf course. Now he's been you
know, relief detainment, was detainedby police, was arrested and now booked
and charged and headed to his tenoh eight Eastern time tea time. It's
all started with a very tragic eventof a pedestrian getting killed by a shuttle
bus this morning. And uh,but uh what a uh what a crazy

(29:08):
story with Scheffler. Yeah, that'sthe that's the great word. Yeah.
I was watching some of the coverageand I mean something, it was dark
at the time, and it soundslike he was trying to get into the
corner of the course and that obviouslythere was a gigantic misunderstanding about who could
get on who couldn't, And yeah, I don't know what obviously, I
don't know the details, but yeah, really unfortunate for everybody, and hopefully

(29:32):
they can resolve this right in somerational way. But yeah, world number
one that booked into booked into theI don't know. I don't know where
he would have been booked into.Times you would know better than be down
there. But yeah, hopefully hecan get back and play and they can
resolve this in some amicable fashion.Well, let's shift gears to the Preakness,
second leg of the Triple Crown.Uh but Pimlico in Baltimore tomorrow.

(29:56):
Our Triple Crown coverage is presented byClayburne Farm doing the usual, unusually well
for more than one hundred years. And they're talking about rain there in Baltimore
starting early tomorrow morning. The WeatherChannel saw edited at eighty goes up to
eighty percent around four am, andabout twelve hours later is the first time
he drops under fifty percent in termsof the rain chance. That's right in

(30:19):
the favorites Wheelhouse, right, MysticDan, no question. I mean he's
his best race prior to the Derby. Tom was in that Southwest six at
Oakland in the mud where he wonby eight lengths and he came right off
the rift like he did at Churchill. So yeah, and I think he'll
be right on the rail in thisrace of three horses inside up and have
no speed, so you should beable to get there again. I'm sure

(30:41):
ken Vick Peak is not disappointed tohear that it's lightly at this point at
least to be a wet track. It looks like the total rainfall now zero
point four or five inches tomorrow,so it doesn't sound like a deluge,
but fairly steady, as you said, and it gets like gets out of
about twenty by six o'clock, butby that time the damage is probably already.

(31:04):
Let's go back to the Derby beforewe get your pick on the Preakness,
because I want to talk first aboutthe ride from Brian Hernandez. A
lot of comparisons to Calvin Burrell interms of hugging the rail, but it
also reminded me of Bill Schumaker ineighty six on Ferdinand. They're coming into
the top of the stretch. There'sa hole that's closing, and you know,

(31:26):
Shoe steps on the gas with Ferdinandand hits the hole and wins the
Derby. It's kind of what Hernandezdid turn in for Home with Mystic Dan.
Yeah, no question, Tom,I'm doing this for memory. I
think Ferdinand might have been the lastDerby winner from the one hole. Yes,
do I have that right? Ithink that you're correct, But yeah,
so Bill, just stay it inthere, that's what you do.

(31:47):
Everybody always says the one hole.So it's a disaster, but yees,
if you just find a way tothe rail and just hang on, that's
the shortest way around. And itwas interesting. Brian's a Louisiana guy like
Calvin, and he said he modeledthat ride after Calvin's three Derby wins where
he tugged the rail the whole wayand you watch the tapes and he said,
why don't we try to do thisand worked out like a Trump.

(32:09):
What was your take on the noinquiry with the bumping between Forever Young and
Sierra Leone for second and third?Just a mistake by the stewards. I
don't know what they were thinking,Tom, I mean everybody saw that.
It wasn't like it was complicated.I mean you could see Kathleone's arm reaching

(32:30):
out apparently to try to free somespace so he could use his left handed
stick. But yeah, why theydidn't have an inquiry? It is just
incomprehensible to me. Just look atit. You make a decision on what
you think whether a horse should bedisqualified or not. But at the very
least, let people know you're lookingat it. And then they said later,
well they were looking at it.Well that's fine, but let everybody

(32:52):
know you're looking at it. Soyeah, we did a lack of transparency.
Transparency is ridiculous. Already coming tohis courtesy of bet online ag dot
ag, they have some really coolprop bets, one of which is,
if you want to bet that there'llbe a triple crown winner, it's plus
seven hundred that do you think MysticDan will exit the breakness with a chance

(33:15):
at a triple crown on the line? You know what, I wouldn't have
said that time with mouth in therace, But once he's shrashed, I
mean Mystic Dan is now going tobe the favorite, So yeah, I
give him a realistic chance. There'snot much speed. I think he's going
to be close to the pace thistime. I don't think the past is
going to be very fast. AndI know people said, well he got

(33:36):
doing a rail, but as youjust pointed out, he also had to
have the accelerations to get there, which he had, So yeah, I
think he's got a realistic shot atthis. Now the Belmont would be even
harder, obviously for all the obviousreason, third race in five weeks,
with horses resting and stuff like that. But it was plus one thousand prior
to the Mooth defection, and asyou just said, it's now plus seven

(33:57):
hundreds, so that changed it.Bet online because they realize he's really got
a shot at it. And ifyou think he's going to win tomorrow,
that's a really good bet to takethe Triple Grant at seven because he's not
going to be seven to one inthe Belmont stakes, right if you're alive,
He's feel a lot less than thaton the day of the race.
Not a bad play at that onlinebet online dot ag for that prop bet

(34:19):
and a bunch of others for thePreakness tomorrow. So Mystic Dan for you,
Yeah, I'm going to go rightback. I just the fact that
Kenny said originally, Hey, Iwant to take our time, make sure
we're good to go, and watchinghim gallop every day you could tell he
was glowing and Kenny was ready. And look, I've known Kenny for twenty
years. I'm a little biased becausehe's a good friend. I'd love to

(34:43):
see him win it. But yeah, I think he's the most logical winner.
Right. He's got the only tripledigit buyers in the race, He's
got two of them, so yeah, if he can run back to his
Derby or the Southwest, I thinkhe's the winner. Dick Girardi Benonline dot
ag. We'll talk to him againbefore the Belmont. Thank you sir,
